I feel like there is perhaps an obvious answer. When I'm running this code:
function searchQuery() {
var compiledParticipantsSheet = spreadSheet.getSheetByName('Participants');
var participantsSheetLr = compiledParticipantsSheet.getLastRow();
var participantsSheetLc = compiledParticipantsSheet.getLastColumn();
var querySheet = spreadSheet.getSheetByName('Query');
var querySheetLr = querySheet.getLastRow();
var querySheetLc = querySheet.getLastColumn();
var data = querySheet.getRange(3, 1, querySheetLr, querySheetLc).getValues();
for (j = 2; j <= participantsSheetLr; ++j) {
var val = compiledParticipantsSheet.getRange(j, 2, 1, 1).getValue();
console.log('Searching Query sheet for row ' + j + ' -- ' + val)
for (i = 0; i < data.length; ++i) {
if (data[i][4] == val) {
var foundData = (data[i][20]);
console.log('------ Found email in query row ' + (i + 3) + ' = ' + foundData);
compiledParticipantsSheet.getRange(j, 11, 1, 1).setValue(foundData);
}else{
compiledParticipantsSheet.getRange(j, 11, 1, 1).setValue('Participant not found');
}
}
}
}
It runs painfully slow, but if I remove the one else statement at the end it runs super fast! Is that reasonable? Am I missing something?
Thanks!

I have created a related post javascript for blogger.com based blogs. The related post plugins loops though the label attached to the current post and displays other posts with the same label.
You can find that in action # http://www.techquark.com/2017/07/infocus-turbo-5-affordable-powerful.html
The issue is I want to skip the current post to be shown in the related post, but unable to achieve the same.
PFB the javascript code :
$(".related-ready").each(function() {
var b = $(this).text();
$.ajax({
url: "/feeds/posts/default/-/" + b + "?alt=json-in-script&max-results=3",
type: 'get',
dataType: "jsonp",
success: function(e) {
var u = "";
var h = '<div class="related">';
for (var i = 0; i < e.feed.entry.length; i++) {
for (var j = 0; j < e.feed.entry[i].link.length; j++) {
if (e.feed.entry[i].link[j].rel == "alternate") {
u = e.feed.entry[i].link[j].href;
break
}
}
var g = e.feed.entry[i].title.$t;
var c = e.feed.entry[i].content.$t;
var $c = $('<div>').html(c);
if (c.indexOf("//www.youtube.com/embed/") > -1) {
var p = e.feed.entry[i].media$thumbnail.url;
var k = p
} else if (c.indexOf("<img") > -1) {
var q = $c.find('img:first').attr('src');
var k = q
} else {
var k = NO_IMAGE
}
h += '<li><div class="related-thumb"><a class="related-img" href="' + u + '" style="background:url(' + k + ') no-repeat center center;background-size: cover"/></div><h3 class="related-title">' + g + '</h3></li>'
}
h += '</div><div class="clear"/>';
$(".related-ready").html(h);
$('.related-img').each(function() {
$(this).attr('style', function(i, src) {
return src.replace('/default.jpg', '/hqdefault.jpg')
}).attr('style', function(i, src) {
return src.replace('s72-c', 's1600')
})
})
}
})
});
TIA !
You will need to check whether the current Post's ID matches with the ID of the post in feed and then skip that post, the code will look like -
....
for (var i = 0; i < e.feed.entry.length; i++) {
if(e.feed.entry[i].id.$t.split("post-")[1] === "<data:post.id/>"){
break;
}
for (var j = 0; j < e.feed.entry[i].link.length; j++) {
....
I am trying to take user input in form of a lot of strings. I want to store them in an array, and the input should be seperated by line breaks.
It should be very much like this: https://www.random.org/lists/
I can not grasp where to being - can someone help? I am using JavaScript but any solutions using JS or jQuery would be great!
I have posted my JS. I want the var people from user input, instead of having to populate the array myself.
Thanks,
$(document).ready(function() {
$(".btn").on('click', function() {
var people = ["Markus Eriksson", "Leticia Hoshino", "Yemi Afolabi", "Eskil Fogelström", "Josefina Liedberg", "David Bjørn Bograd", "Tilda Dahlgren", "Damien Vignol", "Sofie Cousu", "Carolina Lindelöw", "Bilal Khan", "Louise Brandrup-Wognsen", "Emilia Lehto", "Albin Hagström",
"Victor Borg", "Anna Stella Lo-Ré", "Loucmane", "Angelica Ruth", "Victoria VL", "Johan Hellström", "Micke Skoglund", "Anna Unger", "Isaac Sennerholt", "Cyndie Léa Vintilescu", "Mahle Rakela Robin", "Louise Ek", "Ibrahim Bajwa", "Abodi Ismail",
"Alex Ashman", "Elin Grass Casalini", "Amanda Schultz", "Abenezer Abebe", "Julia Hoff", "Enny Hellsén", "Michel George", "Abdullahi Hussein", "Teodor Meurling", "Andrea Sami Mogren", "Thea Arpine Gasparyan", "Jakob Eberson"
];
var groupSize = $("input[name=checkListItem]").val();
var groups = [];
$(".group").remove();
// Randomizing function
Array.prototype.shuffle = function() {
var input = this;
for (var i = input.length - 1; i >= 0; i--) {
var randomIndex = Math.floor(Math.random() * (i + 1));
var itemAtIndex = input[randomIndex];
input[randomIndex] = input[i];
input[i] = itemAtIndex;
}
return input;
};
people.shuffle();
// Split people into chunks and push new arrays into var groups
while (people.length > 0) {
chunks = people.splice(0, groupSize);
var chunksSpace = chunks.join(', ');
groups.push(chunksSpace);
}
// Append the groups into the DOM
$(document).ready(function() {
for (var i = 0; i < groups.length; i++) {
$('.all-groups').append("<div class='group'><p><span class='groupheader'>Group " + (i + 1) + "</span></br> " + groups[i] + "</p></div>");
}
});
});
});
Pure Javascript
document.getElementById("element_id").value.split("\n");
OR JQuery $("#element_id").val().split("\n");
For your example give your input id='people' and should work, also avoid extra line breaks by .replace(/\n+/g,"\n").
$(document).ready(function() {
// Randomizing function
Array.prototype.shuffle = function() {
var input = this;
for (var i = input.length - 1; i >= 0; i--) {
var randomIndex = Math.floor(Math.random() * (i + 1));
var itemAtIndex = input[randomIndex];
input[randomIndex] = input[i];
input[i] = itemAtIndex;
}
return input;
};
$(".btn").on('click', function() {
var people = $("#people").val().replace(/\n+/g,"\n").split("\n");
var groupSize = $("input[name=checkListItem]").val();
var groups = [];
$(".group").remove();
people.shuffle();
// Split people into chunks and push new arrays into var groups
while (people.length > 0) {
chunks = people.splice(0, groupSize);
var chunksSpace = chunks.join(', ');
groups.push(chunksSpace);
}
// Append the groups into the DOM
$(document).ready(function() {
for (var i = 0; i < groups.length; i++) {
$('.all-groups').append("<div class='group'><p><span class='groupheader'>Group " + (i + 1) + "</span></br> " + groups[i] + "</p></div>");
}
});
});
});
var text = $('#total-number').text();
var eachLine = text.split('\n');
alert('Lines found: ' + eachLine.length);
for(var i = 0, l = eachLine.length; i < l; i++) {
alert('Line ' + (i+1) + ': ' + eachLine[i]);
}
Use split to split a multi line string into parts:
var textarea = document.querySelector("textarea");
textarea.addEventListener("change", function(e) {
console.log(textarea.value.split((/[\n\r]/g)));
});
<textarea></textarea>
Regex links:
\r
\n
Javascript:
function add_content(count)
{
var result = {};
var row = new Array();
for (i = 0; i < count; i++)
{
result['img_src'] = $("#img_" + i).attr('src');
result['desc'] = $("#desc_" + i).val();
row.push(result);
}
$.ajax({
url: "ajax-functions.php",
data: {json_data: JSON.stringify(row)},
type: 'post',
success: function (output) {
alert(output);
}
})
}
Php:
$img_desc = json_decode($_POST['json_data'],TRUE);
$count = count($img_desc);
echo 'count:'.$count;
print_r($img_desc);
I want to send json to from JS to PHP. This above code works well, but it send the last data of the for loop is set in all the objects.
How to fix it? Is this right way?
Thanks.
Push a new object on each round of the loop into to the array
for (var i = 0; i < count; i++) {
row.push({
"img_src": $("#img_" + i).attr('src'),
"desc": $("#desc_" + i).val()
});
}
fiddle
Move result declaration inside for:
var row = new Array();
for (i = 0; i < count; i++)
{
var result = {};
result['img_src'] = $("#img_" + i).attr('src');
result['desc'] = $("#desc_" + i).val();
row.push(result);
}
or it can be done more elegantly:
var row = new Array();
var result;
for (i = 0; i < 10; i++)
{
result = row[ row.push({}) - 1 ];
result['img_src'] = $("#img_" + i).attr('src');
result['desc'] = $("#desc_" + i).val();
}
You can make the keys of result array also dynamic
Since you are not making it dynmamic, its getting over ridden in the next loop
EDIT:
for (i = 0; i < count; i++)
{
var result = {};
result['img_src'] = $("#img_" + i).attr('src');
result['desc'] = $("#desc_" + i).val();
row.push(result);
}
Im getting the following error while exporting an html table to excel;
SCRIPT429: Automation server can't create object...
This function was working fine but when i restarted my pc and the the application it stopped working not sure whats going on.
function write_to_excel() {
str = "";
var myTable = document.getElementById('myTable');
var rows = myTable.getElementsByTagName('tr');
var rowCount = myTable.rows.length;
var colCount = myTable.getElementsByTagName("tr")[0]
.getElementsByTagName("th").length;
var ExcelApp = new ActiveXObject("Excel.Application"); //Debug shows error at this line
var ExcelWorkbook = ExcelApp.Workbooks.Add();
var ExcelSheet = ExcelWorkbook.ActiveSheet;
ExcelApp.Visible = true;
ExcelSheet.Range("A1", "Z1").Font.Bold = true;
ExcelSheet.Range("A1", "Z1").Font.ColorIndex = 23;
// Format table headers
for ( var i = 0; i < 1; i++) {
for ( var j = 0; j < colCount - 1; j++) {
str = myTable.getElementsByTagName("tr")[i]
.getElementsByTagName("th")[j].innerHTML;
ExcelSheet.Cells(i + 1, j + 1).Value = str;
}
ExcelSheet.Range("A1", "Z1").EntireColumn.AutoFit();
}
for ( var i = 1; i < rowCount; i++) {
for ( var k = 0; k < colCount - 1; k++) {
str = rows[i].getElementsByTagName('td')[k].innerHTML;
ExcelSheet.Cells(i + 1, k + 1).Value = myTable.rows[i].cells[k].innerText;
}
ExcelSheet.Range("A" + i, "Z" + i).WrapText = true;
ExcelSheet.Range("A" + 1, "Z" + i).EntireColumn.AutoFit();
}
return;
}
Automation server can't create object.
Means your ActiveX settings are too high so the code will not run.
I posted a similar question at the Drupal Forum, but I haven't had much luck.
I'm upgrading a site from D6 to D7. So far it's gone well, but I'm getting a Javascript error that I just can't pin down a solution for.
This is a cut down version of the whole script:
(function($) {
function sign(secret, message) {
var messageBytes = str2binb(message);
var secretBytes = str2binb(secret);
if (secretBytes.length > 16) {
secretBytes = core_sha256(secretBytes, secret.length * chrsz);
}
var ipad = Array(16), opad = Array(16);
for (var i = 0; i < 16; i++) {
ipad[i] = secretBytes[i] ^ 0x36363636;
opad[i] = secretBytes[i] ^ 0x5C5C5C5C;
}
var imsg = ipad.concat(messageBytes);
var ihash = core_sha256(imsg, 512 + message.length * chrsz);
var omsg = opad.concat(ihash);
var ohash = core_sha256(omsg, 512 + 256);
var b64hash = binb2b64(ohash);
var urlhash = encodeURIComponent(b64hash);
return urlhash;
}
function addZero(n) {
return ( n < 0 || n > 9 ? "" : "0" ) + n;
}
Date.prototype.toISODate =
new Function("with (this)\nreturn " +
"getFullYear()+'-'+addZero(getMonth()+1)+'-'" +
"+addZero(getDate())+'T'+addZero(getHours())+':'" +
"+addZero(getMinutes())+':'+addZero(getSeconds())+'.000Z'");
function getNowTimeStamp() {
var time = new Date();
var gmtTime = new Date(time.getTime() + (time.getTimezoneOffset() * 60000));
return gmtTime.toISODate() ;
}
}(jQuery));
The part that keeps throwing an error I'm seeing in Firebug is at:
Date.prototype.toISODate =
new Function("with (this)\n return " +
"getFullYear()+'-'+addZero(getMonth()+1)+'-'" +
"+addZero(getDate())+'T'+addZero(getHours())+':'" +
"+addZero(getMinutes())+':'+addZero(getSeconds())+'.000Z'");
Firebug keeps stopping at "addZero is not defined". JS has never been my strong point, and I know some changes have been made in D7. I've already wrapped the entire script in "(function($) { }(jQuery));", but I must be missing something else. The same script works perfectly on the D6 site.
Here is the "fixed" version of the whole code with #Pointy suggestion added. All I left out is the part of the script for making the hash that goes to Amazon, and some of my declared variables.

Here's a better version of your code:
Date.prototype.toISODate = function() {
function addZero(n) {
return ( n < 0 || n > 9 ? "" : "0" ) + n;
}
var d = this;
return d.getFullYear() + '-' +
addZero(d.getMonth() + 1) + '-' +
addZero(d.getDate()) + 'T' +
addZero(d.getHours()) + ':' +
addZero(d.getMinutes()) + ':' +
addZero(d.getSeconds()) + '.000Z';
};
That moves "addDate" inside the extension function, and it avoids the horrid with statement.
