I am working on building some pages in polymer to use in android web view.
demo code below
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta charset=utf-8 />
<title></title>
</head>
<body>
<!-- Bootstrap Core CSS -->
<link href="css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet">
<link rel="import" href="bower_components/polymer/polymer.html">
<dom-module id="trail-app">
<template>
<style>
</style>
<div id="content"></div>
</template>
<script>
Polymer({
is: "trail-app",
loadDataOne:function(data){
document.getElementById("content").innerHTML = data;
},
});
</script>
<script type="text/javascript">
function loadDataTwo(data) {
document.getElementById("content").innerHTML = data;
}
</script>
</dom-module>
<trail-app></trail-app>
</body>
</html>
So my problem here is if the function loadDataTwo is called like this myWebView.loadUrl("javascript:loadDataTwo('Hello World!')"); it is working fine.
But if the function loadDataOne is called same way its not working.How to resolve.
I tried myWebView.loadUrl("javascript:var temp = document.querySelector('trail-app');temp.loadDataOne('Hello World!')"); it worked fine.

I was looking at another question and saw that they had been told, when their Javascript was not working, to put a function that started on loading of the page.
I was trying to use this code:(well, not exactly this code, but something like it)
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8">
function doThisWhenLoaded(){
var code = document.getElementsByTagName("body");
code.append("<p>Yes it did.</p>");
}
</script>
</head>
<body onload="doThisWhenLoaded">
<h1 style="font-family:sans-serif;">Did it work?</h1>
</body>
</html>
And nothing happened. All that it did was show the h1 code that I put in there.
Since you are already including jQuery try this
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8">
$(document).ready(function(){
var code = $("body");
code.append("<p>Yes it did.</p>");
});
</script>
</head>
<body >
<h1 style="font-family:sans-serif;">Did it work?</h1>
</body>
</html>
You forgot to include the parenthesis to call the function in the body element's onload attribute:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8">
function doThisWhenLoaded() {
//Modified the two lines below slightly
var code = document.querySelector("body");
code.innerHTML += "<p>Yes it did.</p>";
}
</script>
</head>
<body onload="doThisWhenLoaded()">
<h1 style="font-family:sans-serif;">Did it work?</h1>
</body>
</html>
A better/cleaner way to achieve the same thing would be to use addEventListener and DOMContentLoaded event. Something like below:
document.addEventListener("DOMContentLoaded", appendHtml.call(null, {
selector: 'body',
html: '<p>Yes it did.</p>'
}));
function appendHtml(config) {
document.querySelector(config.selector).innerHTML += config.html;
}
<h1 style="font-family:sans-serif;">Did it work?</h1>
Two reason why it doesn't work:
To select the body you have to use document.body or $("body") (in jQuery)
And you forgot to add parentheses to your function call doThisWhenLoaded()
Here is the code corrected:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8">
function doThisWhenLoaded(){
$("body").append("<p>Yes it did.</p>");
}
</script>
</head>
<body onload="doThisWhenLoaded()">
<h1 style="font-family:sans-serif;">Did it work?</h1>
</body>
</html>
I am beginner of javascript.
but it doesn't work. plz help me.
I am using Microsoft VSCode.
This is my main.html.
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
<meta charset="UTF-8">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0"/>
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="ie=edge"/>
<link rel="javascript" src="script.js"/>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://unpkg.com/papercss#1.4.1/dist/paper.min.css"/>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css"/>
<title>Ultimate R-S-P</title>
</head>
<body>
<div class="login_box">
<h1><span class="badge" id="loginbtn">main</span>
</div>
</body>
</html>
This is script.js
console.log("start!");
var loginBtn = document.getElementById("loginbtn");
loginBtn.onclick = function(){
console.log("onclick event start");
};
You need change the:
<link rel="javascript" src="script.js"/>
into:
<script src="script.js"></script>
first choice:put script at the bottom of the body
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
<meta charset="UTF-8">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0" />
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="ie=edge" />
<script src="script.js"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://unpkg.com/papercss#1.4.1/dist/paper.min.css" />
<link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" />
<title>Ultimate R-S-P</title>
</head>
<body>
<div class="login_box">
<h1><span class="badge" id="loginbtn">main</span></h1>
</div>
<script>
console.log("start!");
var loginBtn = document.getElementById("loginbtn");
loginBtn.onclick = function() {
console.log("onclick event start");
};
</script>
</body>
</html>
second choice:move your script content to the window.onload=function(){}
window.onload = function() {
console.log("start!");
var loginBtn = document.getElementById("loginbtn");
loginBtn.onclick = function() {
console.log("onclick event start");
};
};
if you choose this,you have to change your script tag
<link rel="javascript" src="script.js"/>
to
<script src="script.js"></script>
The < link > tag defines a link between a document and an external resource.
The < link > tag is used to link to external style sheets.
The < script > tag is used to define a client-side script (JavaScript).
So, you need to change this code:
<link rel="javascript" src="script.js"/>
into this:
<script type="text/javascript" src="script.js"></script>
Use this tag not the link tag
<script src="script.js"></script>
Also fix your html you are missing an h1 end tag
<h1><span class="badge" id="loginbtn">main</span></h1>
Add Script tag as below.
You have used link tag instead of script.
<script type="text/javascript" src="script.js">
actually i was confused.
that was location of javascript.
solution
<body>
<div class="login_box">
<h1><span class="badge" id="loginbtn">main</span>
</div>
**<script type="text/javascript" src="script.js"></script>**
</body>
i put the javascript code in the body.
I'm starting out with ReactJS & I want this simple image to appear on my practice web app but it isn't appearing. I thought my logic was correct but I guess not.
Here's my index.html file:

</head>

<div id="firstBar"></div>
<div id="body"></div>
<script type="text/babel" src="index.js"></script>
<script type="text/babel" src="body.js"></script>
</body>
</html>
Here's my body.js file:
import myPic from 'pictures/myPic.JPG' // myPic.JPG is in my pictures folder.
var Body = React.createClass({
render: function() {
return(
<img src={myPic}></img>
);
}
});
ReactDOM.render(<Body />, document.getElementById('body'));
Error I'm getting is:
`Uncaught ReferenceError: require is not defined

at XMLHttpRequest.xhr.onreadystatechange (browser.js:4632)`
require/import might not be supported in the browser
Try this:
var Body = React.createClass({
render: function() {
return(
<img src={"./pictures/myPic.JPG"}></img>
);
}
});
ReactDOM.render(<Body />, document.getElementById('body'));
I am new in Angular.js, I am watching pluralsight Angular tutorial, I did what the teacher told on that videos:
<!Doctype>
<html lang="en" ng-app>
<head>
</head>
<body>
<h1 ng-controller="helloWorldCtrl">{{helloMessage}}</h1>
<script href="angular.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
function helloWorldCtrl ($scope) {
$scope.helloMessage = "Hello World!";
}
</script>
</body>
</html>
The h1 should be Hello World! but it is {{helloMessage}}
I am using Latest version of Firefox on windows8 with latest version of Angular
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/angularjs/1.2.23/angular.min.js"></script>
<!Doctype>
<html lang="en" ng-app>
<head>
</head>
<body>
<h1 ng-controller="helloWorldCtrl">{{helloMessage}}</h1>
<script href="angular.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
function helloWorldCtrl ($scope) {
$scope.helloMessage = "Hello World!";
}
</script>
</body>
</html>
Above code works without any issue so it is clear whatever problem is with your version issue. Use nuget to resolve the issue in case you are using Visual studio.
The syntax has changed, you have to add ng-app to the body part, and change the script src, the following code works.
<body ng-app>
<h1 ng-controller="helloWorldCtrl">{{helloMessage}}</h1>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/angularjs/1.2.0/angular.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
function helloWorldCtrl ($scope) {
$scope.helloMessage = "Hello World!";
}
</script>
</body>
You should a module in your script.
Hope the following code helps you.
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html ng-app="plunker">
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8" />
<title>AngularJS Plunker</title>
<script>document.write('<base href="' + document.location + '" />');</script>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" />
<script data-require="angular.js#1.3.x" src="https://code.angularjs.org/1.3.12/angular.js" data-semver="1.3.12"> </script>
<script src="app.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<h1 ng-controller="MainCtrl">Hello {{name}}!</h1>
<script>
var app = angular.module('plunker', []);
app.controller('MainCtrl', function($scope) {
$scope.name = 'World';
});
</script>
</body>
</html>
Here is the code Plunker:-
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html data-ng-app="one">
<head>
<script data-require="angular.js#*" data-semver="1.4.0-beta.3" src="https://code.angularjs.org/1.4.0-beta.3/angular.js"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" />
<script src="script.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<h1 ng-controller="helloWorldCtrl">{{helloMessage}}</h1>
<script type="text/javascript">
var app=angular.module("one",[]);
app.controller("helloWorldCtrl",function ($scope) {
$scope.helloMessage = "Hello World!";
});
</script>
</body>
</html>
I assume there is version problem if you are using new version of angular above 1.2.0 it is not allowed to use global controller in that version Source
I am working through some demo in Polymer. This one here:
https://www.polymer-project.org/components/core-ajax/demo.html
The code that works looks like this:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
<meta charset="UTF-8">
<title>Ajax this.</title>
<script src="../bower_components/platform/platform.js"></script>
<link rel="import" href="../bower_components/polymer/polymer.html">
<link rel="import" href="../bower_components/core-ajax/core-ajax.html">
</head>
<body>
<core-ajax auto url="http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/videos/"
params='{"alt":"json", "q":"chrome"}'
handleAs="json"></core-ajax>
<template repeat="{{response.feed.entry}}">
<div>{{title.$t}}</div>
</template>
<script>
document.addEventListener('polymer-ready', function() {
var ajax = document.querySelector("core-ajax");
ajax.addEventListener("core-response",
function(e) {
document.querySelector('template').model = {
response: e.detail.response
};
}
);
});
</script>
</body>
</html>
Which works quite fine. But I want to encapsulate this demo inside of a polymer element, called "test-element.html", but it doesn't work:
<link rel="import" href="../bower_components/polymer/polymer.html">
<link rel="import" href="../bower_components/core-ajax/core-ajax.html">
<polymer-element name="test-element">
<template>
<core-ajax auto url="http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/videos/"
params='{"alt":"json", "q":"chrome"}'
handleAs="json"></core-ajax>
<template repeat="{{response.feed.entry}}">
<div>{{title.$t}}</div>
</template>
<script>
document.addEventListener('polymer-ready', function() {
var ajax = document.querySelector("core-ajax");
ajax.addEventListener("core-response",
function(e) {
document.querySelector('template').model = {
response: e.detail.response
};
}
);
});
</script>
</template>
<script>
Polymer('test-element', {
});
</script>
</polymer-element>
Nothing is beeing displayed, when I use the element and import in inside my index.html:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
<meta charset="UTF-8">
<title>Javascript Playground</title>
<script src="../bower_components/platform/platform.js"></script>
<link rel="import" href="../bower_components/polymer/polymer.html">
<link rel="import" href="test-element.html">
<link rel="import" href="ajax-feedback.html">
</head>
<body>
<style>
* {margin: 0; padding: 0;}
</style>
<h1>Hello World</h1>
<test-element></test-element>
<ajax-feedback></ajax-feedback>
</body>
</html>
Please can someone explain to me, why I can't just put the code of the demo inside a polymer element and then reimport it inside my index.html?
Thank you very much.
George.
Two things: document.querySelector() won't work here: polymer elements use the shadow dom, which will hide the elements from CSS and querySelector(), and you've done this the hard way. You shouldn't need <script> tags inside <template>, and you don't need to hard code JS to carry the response to where it's going to be used.
This is the easy way:
<link rel="import" href="/bower_components/polymer/polymer.html">
<link rel="import" href="/bower_components/core-ajax/core-ajax.html">
<polymer-element name="test-element" attributes="q">
<template>
<core-ajax auto url="http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/videos/"
params='{"alt":"json", "q":"{{q}}"}'
handleAs="json" response="{{response}}"></core-ajax>
<template repeat="{{response.feed.entry}}">
<div>{{title.$t}}</div>
</template>
</template>
<script>
Polymer({
response: null,
});
</script>
</polymer-element>
And then to use it:
<test-element q="chrome"></test-element>
