jQuery and CSS div element change - javascript

Right now i am working a simple jQuery code when a click on button a jQuery function is called and inside this function i change css of a div.
Here is my code, take a look:
<script src="//code.jquery.com/jquery-1.10.2.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
function SuperWebF1()
{
$("#outerdiv").css({"border":"2px solid #e39f9f"});
alert('SportsDirect.bg: Моля, първо посочете желания от Вас цвят!');
}
</script>
<button type="button" onclick="billing.save();SuperWebF1();"></button>
<div id="outerdiv"></div>
CSS of "outerdiv":
#outerdiv
{
width:4000px;
height:300px;
overflow:hidden;
position:relative;
border:2px solid #fff;
}
When i place the alert('SportsDirect.bg: Моля, първо посочете желания от Вас цвят!'); before the $("#outerdiv").css({"border":"2px solid #e39f9f"}); the alert is working. But it's not working in the other way.
In all cases my CSS function is not working and this code is not changing the border CSS of the div element.
Where is my mistake guys?
After this code i also have:
<script type="text/javascript">
$.noConflict();
jQuery(document).ready(function($){
$("#SubmitButton").click(function() {
$('.HeaderPostForm').hide();
$('.PleaseWait').show();
this.form.submit();
});
});
</script>
I'm giving this as a note..

rather than using onclick why not add an event listener to the button by giving it an id and using that like so
<button type="button" id="btn">Button</button>
<div id="outerdiv"></div>
$("#btn").on("click", function(){
$("#outerdiv").css({"border":"2px solid #e39f9f"});
alert('SportsDirect.bg: Моля, първо посочете желания от Вас цвят!');
// and add the functionality for the other click event in here too
});
jsfiddle showing it in action using this method

HTMLObjectElement onclick event doesn't fire [duplicate]

I want to add a click event to an iframe. I used this example and got this:
$(document).ready(function () {
$('#left').bind('click', function(event) { alert('test'); });
});
<iframe src="left.html" id="left">
</iframe>
But unfortunately nothing happens.
When I test it with another element (e.g. a button), it works:
<input type="button" id="left" value="test">
You could attach the click to the iframe content:
$('iframe').load(function(){
$(this).contents().find("body").on('click', function(event) { alert('test'); });
});
Note: this will only work if both pages are in the same domain.
Live demo: http://jsfiddle.net/4HQc4/
Two solutions:
Using :after on a .iframeWrapper element
Using pointer-events:none; one the iframe
1. Using :after
use a transparent overlay ::after pseudo element with higher z-index on the iframe's wrapper DIV element. Such will help the wrapper to register the click:
jQuery(function ($) { // DOM ready
$('.iframeWrapper').on('click', function(e) {
e.preventDefault();
alert('test');
});
});
.iframeWrapper{
display:inline-block;
position:relative;
}
.iframeWrapper::after{ /* I have higher Z-index so I can catch the click! Yey */
content:"";
position:absolute;
z-index:1;
width:100%;
height:100%;
left:0;
top:0;
}
.iframeWrapper iframe{
vertical-align:top;
}
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div class="iframeWrapper">
<iframe src="http://www.reuters.tv/" frameBorder="0"></iframe>
</div>
2. Using pointer-events:none;
Clicks are not handleable from outside the iframe from an external resource (if the iframe is not in your domain).
You can only create that function inside your 'called into iframe' page, not from within the iframe-hosting page.
How to do it:
You can wrap your iframe into a div
make the click "go through" your iframe using CSS pointer-events:none;
target clicks with jQuery on your wrapping DIV (the iframe parent element)
jQuery(function ($) { // DOM ready
$('.iframeWrapper').on('click', function(e) {
e.preventDefault();
alert('test');
});
});
.iframeWrapper{
display:inline-block;
position:relative;
}
.iframeWrapper iframe{
vertical-align:top;
pointer-events: none; /* let any clicks go trough me */
}
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div class="iframeWrapper">
<iframe src="http://www.reuters.tv/" frameBorder="0"></iframe>
</div>
NOTA BENE:
No clicks will be registered by the iframe element, so a use-case would be i.e: if by clicking the iframe you want to enlarge it full screen.... Etc...
I got it to work but only after uploading it to a host. I imagine localhost would work fine too.

<html>
<script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.9.1.min.js"></script>
<script>
$(document).ready(function() {
var myFrame = document.getElementById("myFrame");
$(myFrame.contentWindow.document).find("div").on("click", function () { alert("clicked"); });
});
</script>
<body>
<iframe id="myFrame" src="inner.htm"></iframe>
</body>
</html>
inner
<html>
<head>
<style>
div {
padding:2px;
border:1px solid black;
display:inline-block;
}
</style>
</head>
<body>
<div>Click Me</div>
</body>
</html>
Pure Javascript
Not my solution but only this works well.
let myConfObj = {
iframeMouseOver : false
}
window.addEventListener('blur',function(){
if(myConfObj.iframeMouseOver){
console.log('Wow! Iframe Click!');
}
});
document.getElementById('YOUR_CONTAINER_ID').addEventListener('mouseover',function(){
myConfObj.iframeMouseOver = true;
});
document.getElementById('YOUR_CONTAINER_ID').addEventListener('mouseout',function(){
myConfObj.iframeMouseOver = false;
});
$(document).ready(function () {
$('#left').click(function(event) { alert('test'); });
});
<iframe src="left.html" id="left">Your Browser Does Not Support iframes</iframe>
The script would have to be ran entirely from the iframe. I would recommend a different method of calling content, such as php.
iframes aren't really worth the hassle.
The actual problem is that, the click event does not bind to the DOM of the iframe and bind() is deprecated, use .on() to bind the event. Try with the following codes and you will find the borders of the iframe clickable getting that alert.
$('#left').on('click', function(event) { alert('test'); });
Demo of that Issue
So how to get it done?
How you should do is, create a function on iframe page, and call that function from that iframe page.

Click button to show div, then remove button

I have managed to create a button that shows my div. but I want to have the button disappear as that happens.
At the moment my button only disappears the second time I click it. Any help appreciated.
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.click').click(function() {
$('#contact-form').toggle('slide', 500)
$('.click').toggle();
});
});
.click {
display: block;
}
#contact-form {
display:none;
}
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<button class="click">click</button>
<div id="contact-form"></div>
The reason why it is not working is, you are mixing the display between CSS and JavaScript. jQuery uses the current inline style to check if the button is hidden to display it, when you use .toggle(). Since it doesn't have anything at first, it adds a display: block (or whatever the initial value is) and then when you do the second time, it correctly identifies and removes.
The best thing to do is to use classes. I would suggest something like this parent class.
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.click').click(function() {
$("body").toggleClass("contact-form-open");
});
});
.contact-form-open .click,
#contact-form {
display: none;
}
.contact-form-open #contact-form {
display: block;
}
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<button class="click">Click Me</button>
<div id="contact-form">
Contact Form
</div>
This way, you control everything using CSS and you don't mess up with the event listeners or add the yucky inline CSS.
I've tried what you've tried and it seems to be working. Maybe it's because you don't close the div tag ?
$(function() {
$('.click').click(function() {
$('.myDiv').toggle();
$('.click').toggle();
})
});
http://plnkr.co/edit/wD0bwf8XK3CFXXM7rVWF?p=preview
but I want to have the button disappear as that happens.
So just use hide() instead of toggle :
$('.click').click(function() {
$('.click').hide();
$('#contact-form').toggle('slide', 500)
});
Hope this helps.
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.click').click(function() {
$('.click').hide();
$('#contact-form').toggle('slide', 500)
});
});
#contact-form {
display:none;
}
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<button class="click">click</button>
<div id="contact-form">Form content</div>
More easy:
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.click').click(function() {
$("#contact-form").show();
$(this).remove();
});
});
#contact-form{display:none;}
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<button class="click">Click Me</button>
<div id="contact-form">
Contact Form
</div>

Javascript Background Change Colour

I am trying to learn Javascript on my own. So I gave myself a task: Create a button and with that button I can change the background colour. This is what I have done so far. I assume I don't need to run it under localhost like how we usually do PHP? I only drag the file to Google Chrome. So far, after clicking, it doesnt change colour at all. I also wonder why. Would be grateful if someone could point out my error
exe1.html
<html>
<head>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="layout.css">
<script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.8/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function(){
$('.button').click(function(){
$('body').css('background', '#' + changeColour());
});
});
function changeColour() {
return Math.floor(Math.random()*16777215).toString(16);
}
</script>
</head>
<body>
<div class="buttonClickMe">
<button type="button" onclick="changeColour">Click me</button>
</div>
</body>
layout.css
button
{
background-color: red;
width: 100px;
height: 100px;
}
body
{
text-align: center;
background-color: blue;
}
Looks like you are trying to implement the click event in two ways:
as a HTML attribute
<button type="button" onclick="changeColour">
In order for this way to work, you should use changeColour as a function:
<button type="button" onclick="changeColour()">
via JS
$('.button').click(function(){ ...
This is the wrong selector for button (the . looks for elements by class name). Instead, use button:
$('button').click(function(){ ...
Either method will work and you only need one.
This should work
$(document).ready(function () {
$('.button').click(function () {
changeColour();
});
});
function changeColour() {
var col = Math.floor(Math.random() * 16777215).toString(16);
$('body').css('background', '#' + col);
}
If you are learning javascript don't jump so fast to jQuery, first do it in plain javascript, like this.
Pure JS
var array = ['black','red','yellow']; //create an array with colors
function changes(){ //create the function
document.bgColor= array[Math.floor(Math.random()* array.length)]; //change the document. for example
}
HTML
<button type="button" onclick="change()">Click me</button>
The selector you're using for the click event does not exist. Add a class to the button for it t work.
Try this:
HTML
<button type="button" class="button">Click me</button>
CSS
$(document).ready(function(){
$('.button').on('click', function(){
$('body').css('background', '#' + changeColour());
});
});
function changeColour() {
return Math.floor(Math.random()*16777215).toString(16);
}
What you've done is fine,
You should move the button class .button onto the actual button element and remove the onclick and then should work.
Here:
http://jsfiddle.net/745ex5zc/
$('.button').click(function(){...
is referring to a click on a button with the CLASS button.
Simply add class=""button" to your button and it would work, though I'd recommend using id="myId" and using $('#myId').click(function(){ instead.
Give this a try...
JSFiddle https://jsfiddle.net/w6tjtaqy/
<script>
$(document).ready(function(){
$('.button').click(function(){
$('body').css('background', '#' + changeColour());
});
});
function changeColour() {
return Math.floor(Math.random()*16777215).toString(16);
}
</script>
<style>
button
{
background-color: red;
width: 100px;
height: 100px;
}
body
{
text-align: center;
background-color: blue;
}
</style>
<div class="buttonClickMe">
<button type="button" class="button">Click me</button>
</div>

JQuery ("button").click doesn't work

The example below works. (Example taken from w3cschools, and hacked a bit.)
Clicking anywhere in the DIV will cause the address class div to disappear.
However, changing the third line of the script to read
$("button").click(function(){
instead of "div" and it just sits there like a paperweight. What am I missing.
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.2/jquery.min.js">
</script>
<script>
$(document).ready(function(){
$("div").click(function(){
$(this).children(".address").toggle("slow");
});
});
</script>
<style type="text/css">
div.ex
{
background-color:#e5eecc;
padding:7px;
border:solid 1px #c3c3c3;
}
</style>
</head>
<body>
<h3>Island Trading</h3>
<div class=ex>
<button>Hide me</button>
<div class=address>
<p>Contact: Helen Bennett<br>
Garden House Crowther Way<br>
London</p>
</div>
</div>
<h3>Paris spécialités</h3>
<div class=ex>
<button class="hide">Hide me</button>
<div class=address>
<p>Contact: Marie Bertrand<br>
265, Boulevard Charonne<br>
Paris</p>
</div>
</div>
</body>
</html>
Change
$(this).children(".address").toggle("slow");
To something like:
$('.address').toggle("slow");
OR
$(this).siblings(".address").toggle("slow");
Once you make the listener act on the button element, .address is not a child of button any longer. It's a sibling. If there will be multiple .address classes on your page, you must use siblings.
http://jsfiddle.net/9S722/1/
Try this:
$("button").on("click", function(){
$(this).parent().children(".address").toggle("slow");
});
http://jsfiddle.net/hescano/9S722/
$(this).parent().children(".address").toggle("slow");
The button doesn't have children
$("div").click(function(){
$(this).children(".address").toggle("slow");
});
The meaning of such code above is that, when click trigger in div container, it will go through its children for matching "address" class attribute.
However, if you just change $("div") to $("button"), but no child appears within button element. nothing matches for toggle function, just ignore it.
You should change code to as below:
$("button").click(function () {
$(this).next(".address").toggle("slow");
});
which find next sibling to button element. That is the element you want.

Change Background color (css property) using Jquery

I want to Change the background colour on click . This is my code work that i tried.pls help me out :)
<script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.2/jquery.min.js">
$(document).ready(function(){
$(#co).click(change()
{
$(body).css("background-color":"blue");
});
});
Css code
body
{
background-color:red;
}
Body code
<body>
<div id="co" click="change()">
hello
</div>
You're using a colon instead of a comma. Try:
$(body).css("background-color","blue");
You also need to wrap the id in quotes or it will look for a variable called #co
$("#co").click(change()
There are many more issues here. click isn't an HTML attribute. You want onclick (which is redundant). Try this:
<div id="co"> <!-- no onclick method needed -->
<script>
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#co").click(function() {
$("body").css("background-color","blue"); //edit, body must be in quotes!
});
});
</script>
You were trying to call an undefined method. It looks like you were trying to declare it inside the callback statement? I'm not sure. But please compare this to your code and see the differences.
http://jsfiddle.net/CLwE5/ demo fiddle
Try this
$("body").css({"background-color":"blue"});
$("#co").click(function(){
$(this).css({"backgroundColor" : "blue"});
});
The code below will change the div to blue.
<script>
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#co").click({
$("body").css("background-color","blue");
});
});
</script>
<body>
<div id="co">hello</div>
</body>
1.Remove onclick method from div element
2.Remove function change() from jQuery code and in place of that create an anonymous function like:
$(document).ready(function()
{
$('#co').click(function()
{
$('body').css('background-color','blue');
});
});
$("#bchange").click(function() {
$("body, this").css("background-color","yellow");
});
Change Background Color using on click button jquery
Below is the code of jquery, which you can put in your head tag.
jQuery Code:
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.4.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script>
$(document).ready(function(){
$("button").click(function(){
$("div").addClass("myclass");
});
});
</script>
CSS Code:
<style>
.myclass {
background-color: red;
padding: 100px;
color: #fff;
}
</style>
HTML Code:
<body>
<div>Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry.</div>
<button>Click Here</button>
</body>
Try below jQuery snippet, you can change color :
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#co").click(function() {
$("body").css("background-color", "yellow");
});
});
</script>
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#co").click(function() {
$("body").css("background-color", "yellow");
});
});
body {
background-color:red;
}
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div id="co" click="change()">hello</div>
