Im not really sure why the span tag is not closing
Does it have to do with my selection being a div in js?
Please let me know what I can change in order to make this work.
Ive tried to switch out the labels of the classes and tested selectors as well
Here is my code.
document.querySelectorAll('.imageContainer div').forEach(image => {
image.onclick = () => {
document.querySelector('.popup-image').style.display = 'block';
document.querySelector('.popup-image img').div = image.getAttribute('data-img');

document.querySelector('.popup-image').style.display = 'none';
};

Since the 'x' button is inside the other element, the function to set display: block is being called when you click on the span, which is overriding the display: none; that you're setting. You can stop this by running e.stopPropagation(); in the event handler, which will prevent the click event from triggering on any parent elements.

How can I get the FadeInLeft effect when changing content from .opacity=0 to .opacity=1 on the left side.
I tried to solve this problem with the given script, but it did not work for me.
P.S. See this layout in fullscreen.
Here is a very ruff first draft
Since you already have the .active class being added to your .subtitle class to change opacity, you can just tack on CSS Animation to those classes.
In my example I have .subtitle > div set to right: 100%; and .active > div set to right: 0%; with a transition: 300ms;
Which will animate the block from the left side of the screen over to the right side in 300ms. You can play around with this until you get the animation where you'd like.
Here's a great article from MDN with more information about Using CSS Transitions
CSS transitions provide a way to control animation speed when changing CSS properties. Instead of having property changes take effect immediately, you can cause the changes in a property to take place over a period of time. For example, if you change the color of an element from white to black, usually the change is instantaneous. With CSS transitions enabled, changes occur at time intervals that follow an acceleration curve, all of which can be customized.
Examples
div {
transition: <property> <duration> <timing-function> <delay>;
}
#delay {
font-size: 14px;
transition-property: font-size;
transition-duration: 4s;
transition-delay: 2s;
}
#delay:hover {
font-size: 36px;
}
.box {
border-style: solid;
border-width: 1px;
display: block;
width: 100px;
height: 100px;
background-color: #0000FF;
transition: width 2s, height 2s, background-color 2s, transform 2s;
}
.box:hover {
background-color: #FFCCCC;
width: 200px;
height: 200px;
transform: rotate(180deg);
}

let scrollDistance = window.scrollY;

document.querySelectorAll('.section1').forEach((el, i) => {
if (el.offsetTop - document.querySelector('.nav').clientHeight <= scrollDistance) {
document.querySelectorAll('.nav a').forEach((el) => {
if (el.classList.contains('active')) {
el.classList.remove('active');
}
});
document.querySelectorAll('.nav li')[i].querySelector('a').classList.add('active');
}
});
}

container.classList.add("hide")
return;
}
const dir = tgt.id === "next" ? 1 : -1;
cur += dir;
if (cur < 0) cur = 0;
if (cur >= imgs.length) cur = imgs.length - 1;
expandImg.src = imgs[cur].src;
imgText.textContent = imgs[cur].alt;
})
document.getElementById("content").addEventListener("click", (event) => {

I have a website, and I want an element to spin around 360 degrees once when it is clicked. The only way I have heard of to rotate a div element is the CSS transform property. I have tried some different things, like
backward.classList.add("notrans");
backward.style.transform = "rotateZ(0deg)";
backward.classList.remove("notrans");
backward.style.transform = "rotateZ(-360deg)";
where the notrans class makes the element have a transition time of 0 seconds, and
backward.style.transition = "0s";
backward.style.transform = "rotateZ(0deg)";
backward.style.transition = transtime;
backward.style.transform = "rotateZ(360deg)";
Here is the source code I am using right now:
var backward = document.getElementById("backward");
var Backward = function() {bgm.currentTime -= 10;
backward.classList.add("notrans");
backward.style.transform = "rotateZ(0deg)";
backward.classList.remove("notrans");
backward.style.transform = "rotateZ(-360deg)";
}

As you can see, the Backward button is not spinning when you press it.
Any help?
FYI: There is a lot of extra stuff in the code snippet, like CSS variables, but those are necessary.
Do you want this behaviour?
var spinner = document.querySelector("#spinner");
document.querySelector("button").onclick = function() {
spinner.style.animationName = "example";
setTimeout(function() {
spinner.style.animationName = "";
}, 4000);
};

I am trying to make an on click image overlay, where you click the left icon and an image fades or slides in, but when you click the right icon a different image fades or slides in. Also, when you click either icon, the associated images fade or slide out.
I've been trying to use
function on() {
document.getElementById("overlay").style.display = "block";
}
function off() {
document.getElementById("overlay").style.display = "none";
}
to make the display go from none to block when you click the icon, but there is no way to use this function with two separate links. I am not very great with javascript so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Are you looking for something like this? I have used Jquery to speed up the coding!
$(document).ready(function() {
$(".left").click(function() {
$("#overlay").fadeIn(3000);
});
$(".right").click(function() {
$("#overlay2").fadeIn(3000);
});
$("#overlay").click(function() {
$("#overlay").fadeOut(2000);
});
$("#overlay2").click(function() {
$("#overlay2").fadeOut(2000);
});
});
#overlay {
position: fixed;
z-index: 4;
display: none;

Added Fade in and fade out animations!

I've been trying to animate a sliding door that is triggered on the click of a button.
Here is my fiddle
I've got two sides of the sliding door. Left side is blue, right side is red. The left side should slide to the left and the right door should slide to the right.
First of all, I'm trying to position the button to the middle of the door. I'm using
#button {
z-index: 2;
position: absolute;
top: 50%;
left: 50%;
}
but still the button appears kind of sideways
But secondly when the button is clicked, both sides of the door should slide out at the same time, but unfortunately only the red door functions correctly.
The blue door is stuck. What am I doing wrong?
You can use simple JQuery animation to do what you require.
FIDDLE
Here is the code:
$("button").click(function() {
$(".one").animate({
left: '0'
});
$(".three").animate({
left: '200px'
});
});
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div class="one" style="background:#98bf21;height:100px;width:100px;position:absolute;left:100px;"></div>
<div class="two" style="background:blue;height:100px;width:100px;position:absolute;left:100px;">
</div>
<div class="three" style="background:red;height:100px;width:100px;position:absolute;left:100px;"></div>
<button style="position:absolute;left:110px;top:50px;">
CLICK ME
</button>
It should be like this
function myMove() {
var elem = document.getElementById("myAnimationRight");
var elem_l = document.getElementById("myAnimationLeft");
var elem_R = document.getElementById("myAnimationRight");
elem_l.className += " opened";
elem_R.className += " opened";
}
#container {
width: 800px;
}
#button {
z-index: 2;
position: absolute;
top: 50%;
left: 50%;
}
#wrapper {
z-index: 1;
position: absolute;
display:inline-block;
width: 810px;
overflow:hidden;
}
#left {
display:inline-block;
width: 400px;
}
#right {
display:inline-block;
width: 400px;
}
#myContainer {
width: 400px;
height: 300px;
position: relative;
background: yellow;
}
#myAnimationLeft {
width: 400px;
height: 300px;
position: absolute;
background-color: blue;
transition:linear all 0.5s;
left:0;
}
#myAnimationRight {
width: 400px;
height: 300px;
position: absolute;
background-color: red;
transition:linear all 0.5s;
right:0;
}
#myAnimationRight.opened{
right:-100%;
transition:linear all 0.5s;
}
#myAnimationLeft.opened{
left:-100%;
transition:linear all 0.5s;
}
<div id="container">
<div id ="button">
<button onclick="myMove()">Click Me</button>
</div>
<div id="wrapper">
<div id ="left">
<div id ="myContainer">
<div id ="myAnimationLeft"></div>
</div>
</div>
<div id ="right">
<div id ="myContainer">
<div id ="myAnimationRight"></div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
You can handle animation via CSS and just add class opened to elements on button click.
You need to minus half the button width and height to bring it to the center.
If button's width is fixed, its correct to use calc(50% - 50px) as Icewine's answer.
For elements with dynamic widths and heights u can always use:
position: absolute;
top: 50%;
left: 50%;
transform:translateX(-50%) translateY(-50%);
The above code will center the element even if you dont know the height and width of the element.
Example:
body {
padding: 0px;
margin: 0px;
}
div {
width: 100px;
height: 100px;
position: absolute;
top: 50%;
left: 50%;
transform: translateX(-50%) translateY(-50%);
background: red;
}
<div></div>
As for animation, why not use classes and let the CSS handle the animation?
function myMove() {
document.getElementById("myAnimationLeft").className = "DoorOpenLeft";
document.getElementById("myAnimationRight").className = "DoorOpenRight";
}
* {
box-sizing: border-box;
}
body {
margin: 0px;
}
#container {
width: 100%;
}
#button {
z-index: 2;
position: absolute;
top: 50%;
left: 50%;
display: inline-block;
transform: translateX(-50%) translateY(-50%);
}
#wrapper {
z-index: 1;
position: absolute;
width: 100%;
overflow-x: hidden;
clear: both;
}
#left {
display: inline-block;
width: 50%;
float: left;
}
#right {
display: inline-block;
width: 50%;
float: right;
}
#myContainer {
width: 100%;
height: 300px;
position: relative;
background: yellow;
}
#myAnimationLeft {
width: 100%;
height: 300px;
left: 0px;
position: absolute;
background-color: blue;
transition: all 1s ease;
}
#myAnimationRight {
width: 100%;
height: 300px;
left: auto;
right: 0px;
position: absolute;
background-color: red;
transition: all 1s ease;
}
.DoorOpenLeft {
left: -100% !important;
}
.DoorOpenRight {
right: -100% !important;
}
<div id="container">
<div id="button">
<button onclick="myMove()">Click Me</button>
</div>
<div id="wrapper">
<div id="left">
<div id="myContainer">
<div id="myAnimationLeft"></div>
</div>
</div>
<div id="right">
<div id="myContainer">
<div id="myAnimationRight"></div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
Defining same vars causing issues and for the left door you need to decrease value _pos--

For the button, you need to minus the width and height of the button to center it.
left: calc(50% - 50px); if button width is 100px;
Also, you need to set the parent div above button to position: relative; or the absolute wont work. You should also set a height of the parent div while you are at it.
