create table with jquery - javascript

I created a Jquery table and the purpose of it is that with each element clicked it shows an alert, but I am not able to make that happen.
The question that was presented to me was the following:
Create a table with at least 5 rows and two columns. for each element td
clicked, execute an event that displays a dialog box (alert) with the id of the
element clicked.

<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.6.0/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script>
jQuery(document).ready(function($) {
$('.tr_more').hide();
$(".clickable-more").on('click', function() {
$(this).hide();
$('.tr_more').show();
$(this).next('a').show();
});
$(".clickable-minus").on('click', function() {
$(this).hide();
$('.tr_more').hide();
$(this).prev('a').show();
});
});
</script>
</html>
The reason that the click hides all the tr_more elements is because in your code, you are hiding and showing all the elements with the class tr_more irrespective of which table it is.
One approach would be to select the tr_more element which is part of the table which you are clicking by using the closest() to find the parent table and then using find() to get the tr_more elements of that particular table that is clicked. Try the below code.
<script>
jQuery(document).ready(function($) {
$('.tr_more').hide();
$(".clickable-more").on('click', function() {
$(this).hide();
$(this).closest('table').find('.tr_more').show();
$(this).next('a').show();
});
$(".clickable-minus").on('click', function() {
$(this).hide();
$(this).closest('table').find('.tr_more').hide();
$(this).prev('a').show();
});
});
</script>
A better approach would be to use jquery toggleClass to toggle a class name for the tr_more elements and change the display property for that class name using css. Not the exact code below, but it's a start
.tr_more.show {
display: block;
}
$('.clickable-more').on('click', function() {
$(this).closest('table').find('.tr_more').toggleClass('show');
})

How to edit or delete table data of database from webpage

Hi i have an ajax jquery function which displays table data as shown in the picture, i want to add a field which says edit and delete which gives the user the permission to edit or delete table data and it will get reflected in the database. Please note i have not given any index value to the response data nor an id
is there any way to achieve this! if so could you please explain or show me references! thanx!
$("#table").append("<tr class='tr'> <td> <input type='checkbox', value='" + response.data[i].electrician_email + "'>"+response.data[i].electrician_name+" </td> <td> "+response.data[i].electrician_contact+" </td> <td> "+response.data[i].electrician_license+" </td> <td> "+response.data[i].electrician_email+" </td> <td> "+response.data[i].state+" </td> <td> "+response.data[i].city);
You can do it in a simple manner, like add a number to the row and edit the row using the rownumber. Here is the code what I have tried and hope it helps you.
like see the code snippet here
<tr id="row1">
<td id="name_row1">XXX</td>
<td id="country_row1">India</td>
<td id="age_row1">20</td>
<td>
<input type="button" id="edit_button1" value="Edit" class="edit" onclick="edit_row('1')">
<input type="button" id="save_button1" value="Save" class="save" onclick="save_row('1')">
<input type="button" value="Delete" class="delete" onclick="delete_row('1')">
</td>
</tr>
There in the tr id is row1, when you add a new row a new tr is created with id rowX X is a number. If you want to edit the row, select the row using rowX and edit or delete whatever you want.
function edit_row(no)
{
document.getElementById("edit_button"+no).style.display="none";
document.getElementById("save_button"+no).style.display="block";
var name=document.getElementById("name_row"+no);
var country=document.getElementById("country_row"+no);
var age=document.getElementById("age_row"+no);
var name_data=name.innerHTML;
var country_data=country.innerHTML;
var age_data=age.innerHTML;
name.innerHTML="<input type='text' id='name_text"+no+"' value='"+name_data+"'>";
country.innerHTML="<input type='text' id='country_text"+no+"' value='"+country_data+"'>";
age.innerHTML="<input type='text' id='age_text"+no+"' value='"+age_data+"'>";
}
function save_row(no)
{
var name_val=document.getElementById("name_text"+no).value;
var country_val=document.getElementById("country_text"+no).value;
var age_val=document.getElementById("age_text"+no).value;
document.getElementById("name_row"+no).innerHTML=name_val;
document.getElementById("country_row"+no).innerHTML=country_val;
document.getElementById("age_row"+no).innerHTML=age_val;
document.getElementById("edit_button"+no).style.display="block";
document.getElementById("save_button"+no).style.display="none";
}
function delete_row(no)
{
document.getElementById("row"+no+"").outerHTML="";
}
function add_row()
{
var new_name=document.getElementById("new_name").value;
var new_country=document.getElementById("new_country").value;
var new_age=document.getElementById("new_age").value;
var table=document.getElementById("data_table");
var table_len=(table.rows.length)-1;
var row = table.insertRow(table_len).outerHTML="<tr id='row"+table_len+"'><td id='name_row"+table_len+"'>"+new_name+"</td><td id='country_row"+table_len+"'>"+new_country+"</td><td id='age_row"+table_len+"'>"+new_age+"</td><td><input type='button' id='edit_button"+table_len+"' value='Edit' class='edit' onclick='edit_row("+table_len+")'> <input type='button' id='save_button"+table_len+"' value='Save' class='save' onclick='save_row("+table_len+")'> <input type='button' value='Delete' class='delete' onclick='delete_row("+table_len+")'></td></tr>";
document.getElementById("new_name").value="";

It is complicated and that can't be answered in a few lines of code.
You may restart from scratch by looking at this old CRUD: http://jtable.org/
Or angular x-editable (using bootstrap):

Linking Jquery mobile pages. One with user input and another with results

I have two pages one for a user to input a bus stop id. This bus stop id parses a live API. And one page for the results of that. The pages are showing on the single page at the moment. I want the user to get redirected to the second page. I have tired linking the pages but it did not work. ANy Suggestions?

HTML: Totaling columns

I am taking in the data in from an sql statement and throwing it into a table.
I am trying to create a subtotal for the table that I can then send to a checkout page using a java servlet. Problem is that I am having issues getting the subtotal working after going through several examples on stackoverflow.
Thank you for your time.

There are many ways you could achieve what you are looking to do. You should try to simplify your markup if you can. If you want to keep your login credential table in the middle. Here is a way to do it using 3 main divs as 32.98% width columns. Float them left and use the first column for the pic that you want on the left. Here it is in jsbin. Of course the images aren't working bc it doesn't have access to the proper path http://jsbin.com/muxac/1/edit
<!doctype html>

<meta charset="utf-8">

width: 32.98%;

To position the picture You can use CSS. Here is the code(Insert it in the style attribute of the html tag):
position:absolute;left:0px;top:0px/*Here inserte the necesary pixels to position the picture*/
If what you want is just the header image to be at the top left, put inside the <style> this: .header img {display: inline-block; float: left;}
