I need to create a react-native project for Android and Web environments.
For that, I need to place a map (free one) on one of the screens in my app.
I followed this guide:
https://developer.tomtom.com/blog/build-different/using-tomtom-maps-web-sdk-react-native-web-view-app
I changed a few things and I managed to load the TomTom map with WebView on Android only.
I used expo to load my app on my desktop browser and it won't display anything. Also, I can't send a reference object to the 'ref' field in WebView when using my browser. The reference works fine in Android.
After many tries I read that 'react-native-webview' does not support Web.
Basically I need a working map with locations (stores, parks etc.) and when the user will click or touch a location marker - I need to take the location details and show him a floating window with my data regarding the location.
How can I make it work on both Android and Web?
Do you think I should change to another free maps API that is more suitable for my situation?
I need to write a code to get the address of the device, CONNECTING to my site
So, for an instance, I visit my website with my phone. On button click, I need to get the Bluetooth address of it.
I've seen some examples showing how to get addresses of nearby devices. That's not what I need.
I don't have time for a proper research now, so if you have examples, please, share them with me.
I'd really appreciate your help.
There is this experimental API, but it’s not enabled by default
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/BluetoothDevice
Normally a website can not access such private device information, but apps that a user chooses to install can, such as an app written with ReactNative.
I have a little project where I want to display google now cards in a browser (Chrome) window. If you have android phone I pretty much want to replicate the google now desktop gadget but on a browser using javascript/html etc
Is the google now api available for this sort of stuff? I cant see it.
When I am creating google map on hybrid app and network suddenly disconnet, the google map show nothing after network has been reconnected. I know it can be annoying to think about, but at some point you just have to put it out of your head, and an important thing to take note of is sometimes the user will enter into situations where your app doesn't work exactly as you want it to, and it's out of your control, for example if the user disconnects the internet.
Another example of this would be if the user doesn't support cookies, or if they don't support javascript. As a developer, you won't always be working with the resources you need to build software for every person on every platform and in every scenario. Sure google has the ability to handle internet disconnect/reconnect in google drive, syncing up to the server when a connection is re-established, and Twitter has a mobile site that supports users who don't have javascript. As a developer you will have to make a judgement call on what is and what isn't a must-have feature. I'm guessing this isn't a must-have feature.
I am working on a cordova/phonegap based geolocation app using Google maps. I am using Cordova 2.4 if that matters for this issue. I am getting the location coordinates from the phone and show it as a marker on the map. I also, use the reverse google's geo-location to get the address corresponding to that location. However, the map thing is working fine in India. It displays the marker on the map and also gets the address for that location. However, when I sent the same app to my friend in the US to test, he could not see the map or the marker and also could not get the address corresponding to that GPS coordinates. He did get the alert for the GPS coordinates (which I had added for debugging purposes).
So, it seems there is an issue probably with the Maps API not working in the US. I sent it to multiple people in the US and all of them had same issues. Whereas it worked in India on multiple device like Nexus 4, Nexus S, Galaxy S2 etc.
The app checks if the location services are enabled (using Cordova plugin) and if not, it asks users to do that.
I then created a console API key and used that but still the same result (console API Key was generated for my gmail account which is based in India).
I would like to know if there are any restrictions to view google maps data for US addresses with API key for an account that is India based, or using no key (which works in India).
ANy help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Manish
UPDATE: fixed the issue. There was another totally unrelated issue/bug.
