I want to show this element only for 5 seconds and after that needs to remove from the dom.
{{#if canShow}}
<div>
This is block
</div>
{{/if}}
Please help me to solve. I don't know how to achieve this.
If you are in an Ember component you can use:
init() {
Ember.run.later(() => {
this.set('canView', false) // Or you can toggleProperty here
}, 5000);
}

I am experiencing this weird scenario that I am unable to figure out what the problem is. There is a pagination for a collection which works fine when navigating. I have 5 documents in a collection with each to display per 2 on a page sing the pagination. Each document has a url link that when clicked it displays the full page for the document.
The challenge now is that if I click a document on the first page, it displays the full record, but if I navigate to the next page and click a document, it displays a blank page. I have tried all I could but haven't gotten what is to be made right.
These earlier posts are a build up to this present one: Publish and subscribe to a single object Meteor js, Meteor js custom pagination.
This is the helper
singleSchool: function () {
if (Meteor.userId()) {
let myslug = FlowRouter.getParam('myslug');
var subValues = Meteor.subscribe('SingleSchool', myslug );
if (myslug ) {
let Schools = SchoolDb.findOne({slug: myslug});
if (Schools && subValues.ready()) {
return Schools;
}
}
}
},
This is the blaze template
<template name="view">
{{#if currentUser}}
{{#if Template.subscriptionsReady }}
{{#with singleSchool}}
{{singleSchool._id}}
{{singleSchool.addschoolname}}
{{/with}}
{{/if}}
{{/if}}
</template>
try this;
onCreated function:
Template.view.onCreated(function(){
this.dynamicSlug = new ReactiveVar("");
this.autorun(()=>{
// When `myslug` changes, subscription will change dynamically.
this.dynamicSlug.set(FlowRouter.getParam('myslug'));
Meteor.subcribe('SingleSchool', this.dynamicSlug.get());
});
});
Helper
Template.view.helpers({
singleSchool(){
if (Meteor.userId()) {
let school = SchoolDb.findOne({slug: Template.instance().dynamicSlug.get()});
if (school) {
return school;
}
}
}
});
I have following kind of code:
<div>
<compA />
<compB />
</div>
How do I make sure that first compA is rendered only after it compB is rendered.
Why I want is I have some dependency on few elements of compA, and style of compB depends on presence of those elements.
Why in details:
I have some complex UI design, where one box will become fixed when you scroll. SO It will not go above the screen when you scroll, it will be fixed once you start scrolling and it start touching the header. So I am using jquery-visible to find if a div with a particular id is visible on the screen, if it is not visible, I change the style and make that box fixed. Following code should give the idea what I am doing:
methods: {
onScroll () {
if ($('#divId').visible(false, false, 'vertical')) { // This is div from the compA, so I want to make sure it is rendered first and it is visible
this.isFixed = false
} else {
this.isFixed = true
}
}
},
mounted () {
window.addEventListener('scroll', this.onScroll() }
},
destroyed () {
window.removeEventListener('scroll', this.onScroll)
}
I dont want to make those in same component as one reason is it dont make sense as the nature of these components, and other I use compA at many places, while compB is specific to only one page. Also layout of these does not allow me to make compB child of compA as suggested in comments.
Any suggestions are welcome.
An option with events:
<!-- Parent -->
<div>
<comp-a #rendered="rendered = true"></comp-a>
<component :is="compB"></component>
</div>
<script>
// import ...
export default {
components: { CompA, CompB },
watch: {
rendered: function (val) {
if (val) this.compB = 'comp-b';
}
},
data() {
return {
rendered: false,
compB: null
}
}
}
</script>
<!-- Component B -->
<script>
export default {
mounted() {
this.$emit('rendered');
}
}
</script>
After going through the edit I realised that the dependency is not data driven but event driven (onscroll). I have tried something and looks like it works (the setTimeout in the code is for demonstration).
My implementation is slightly different from that of Jonatas.
<div id="app">
RenderSwitch: {{ renderSwitch }} // for demonstration
<template v-if='renderSwitch'>
<comp-a></comp-a>
</template>
<comp-b #rendered='renderSwitchSet'></comp-b>
</div>
When the component-B is rendered it emits an event, which just sets a data property in the parent of both component-A and component-B.
The surrounding <template> tags are there to reduce additional markup for a v-if.
The moment renderSwitch is set to true. component-a gets created.
I've got two problems here. The first is that I can't get the star rendered properly. I can do it if I change the value in the data() function but if I want to do it in a function callback way, it doesn't work (see comments below). What's going wrong here? Does it have something to do with Vue's lifecycle?
The second one is that I want to submit the star-rate and the content of the textarea and when I refresh the page, the content should be rendered on the page and replace the <textarea></textarea> what can I do?
I want to make a JSFiddle here but I don't know how to make it in Vue's single-file component, really appreciate your help.
<div class="order-comment">
<ul class="list-wrap">
<li>
<span class="comment-label">rateA</span>
<star-rating :data="dimensionA"></star-rating>
</li>
</ul>
<div>
<h4 class="title">comment</h4>
<textarea class="content" v-model="content">
</textarea>
</div>
<mt-button type="primary" class="mt-button">submit</mt-button>
</div>
</template>
<script>
import starRating from 'components/starRating'
import dataService from 'services/dataService'
export default {
data () {
return {
dimensionA: '' //if I changed the value here the star rendered just fine.
}
},
components: {
starRating
},
methods: {
getComment (id) {
return dataService.getOrderCommentList(id).then(data => {
this.dimensionA = 1
})
}
},
created () {
this.getComment(1) // not working
}
}
</script>
What it seems is scope of this is not correct in your getComment method, you need changes like following:
methods: {
getComment (id) {
var self = this;
dataService.getOrderCommentList(id).then(data => {
self.dimensionA = 1
})
}
},
As you want to replace the <textarea> and render the content if present, you can use v-if for this, if content if available- show content else show <textarea>
<div>
<h4 class="title">comment</h4>
<span v-if="content> {{content}} </span>
<textarea v-else class="content" v-model="content">
</textarea>
</div>
See working fiddle here.
one more problem I have observed in your code is you are using dynamic props, but you have assigned the prop initially to the data variable value in star-rating component, but you are not checking future changes in the prop. One way to solve this, assuming you have some other usage of value variable is putting following watch:
watch:{
data: function(newVal){
this.value = newVal
}
}
see updated fiddle.
In AngularJS 1.2, if I use a parent animation, the child animation doesn't work.
If I comment out app.animation('.parent', function () { .. }, then the child animation starts correctly.
How to get both parent and child animations working at the same time?
Plunker of my code
HTML:
<button ng-click="anim.toggleParent()">reveal parent</button>
<button ng-click="anim.toggleChild()">reveal child</button>
<div class="parent" ng-if="!anim.showParent">
<div class="child" ng-if="!anim.showChild">
</div>
</div>
JS:
app.animation('.parent', function () {
return {
// ...
};
});
// this doesn't work with parent animation =(
app.animation('.child', function () {
return {
// ...
};
});
Just insert ng-animate-children to the parent (Angular 1.2+).
<button ng-click="anim.toggleParent()">reveal parent</button>
<button ng-click="anim.toggleChild()">reveal child</button>
<div class="parent" ng-if="!anim.showParent" ng-animate-children>
<div class="child" ng-if="!anim.showChild">
</div>
</div>
Check the ngAnimate documentation:
Keep in mind that, by default, if an animation is running, any child elements cannot be animated until the parent element's animation has completed. This blocking feature can be overridden by placing the ng-animate-children attribute on a parent container tag.
<div class="slide-animation" ng-if="on" ng-animate-children>
<div class="fade-animation" ng-if="on">
<div class="explode-animation" ng-if="on">
...
</div>
</div>
</div>When the on expression value changes and an animation is triggered then each of the elements within will all animate without the block being applied to child elements.
Not sure whether this thread is closed. If so recommendation would be very helpful.
Facing the same issue here.
Angular animate has the below lines indicating that the child animations will not be triggered if parent has animation.
Not sure whether this is an issue or works as expected.
//skip the animation if animations are disabled, a parent is already being animated,
//the element is not currently attached to the document body or then completely close
//the animation if any matching animations are not found at all.
//NOTE: IE8 + IE9 should close properly (run closeAnimation()) in case a NO animation is not found.
if (animationsDisabled(element, parentElement) || matches.length === 0) {
domOperation();
closeAnimation();
return;
}
Have raised a thread in Angular google group referenced the issue back here.
Also not sure if this thread is closed, but you could always edit the angular-animate.js file. Function animationsDisabled is where angular looks for the parent element to see if it will allow the child to animate. At the top of this function I added a check to see if the parent element has a class of animation-override (can be whatever you define). This way you can override the default functionality when needed.
function animationsDisabled(element, parentElement) {
if (parentElement[0].classList.contains('animation-override')) return false;
if (rootAnimateState.disabled) return true;
if(isMatchingElement(element, $rootElement)) {
return rootAnimateState.disabled || rootAnimateState.running;
}
do {
//the element did not reach the root element which means that it
//is not apart of the DOM. Therefore there is no reason to do
//any animations on it
if(parentElement.length === 0) break;
var isRoot = isMatchingElement(parentElement, $rootElement);
var state = isRoot ? rootAnimateState : parentElement.data(NG_ANIMATE_STATE);
var result = state && (!!state.disabled || !!state.running);
if(isRoot || result) {
return result;
}
if(isRoot) return true;
}
while(parentElement = parentElement.parent());
return true;
}
}]);
I am quite new with Meteor but have really been enjoying it and this is my first reactive app that I am building.
I would like to know a way that I can remove the .main element when the user clicks or maybe a better way would be to remove the existing template (with main content) and then replace with another meteor template? Something like this would be simple and straightforward in html/js app (user clicks-> remove el from dom) but here it is not all that clear.
I am just looking to learn and for some insight on best practice.
//gallery.html
<template name="gallery">
<div class="main">First run info.... Only on first visit should user see this info.</div>
<div id="gallery">
<img src="{{selectedPhoto.url}}">
</div>
</template>
//gallery.js
firstRun = true;
Template.gallery.events({
'click .main' : function(){
$(".main").fadeOut();
firstRun = false;
}
})
if (Meteor.isClient) {
function showSelectedPhoto(photo){
var container = $('#gallery');
container.fadeOut(1000, function(){
Session.set('selectedPhoto', photo);
Template.gallery.rendered = function(){
var $gallery = $(this.lastNode);
if(!firstRun){
$(".main").css({display:"none"});
console.log("not");
}
setTimeout(function(){
$gallery.fadeIn(1000);
}, 1000)
}
});
}
Deps.autorun(function(){
selectedPhoto = Photos.findOne({active : true});
showSelectedPhoto(selectedPhoto);
});
Meteor.setInterval(function(){
selectedPhoto = Session.get('selectedPhoto');
//some selections happen here for getting photos.
Photos.update({_id: selectedPhoto._id}, { $set: { active: false } });
Photos.update({_id: newPhoto._id}, { $set: { active: true } });
}, 10000 );
}
If you want to hide or show an element conditionaly you should use the reactive behavior of Meteor: Add a condition to your template:
<template name="gallery">
{{#if isFirstRun}}
<div class="main">First run info.... Only on first visit should user see this info.</div>
{{/if}}
<div id="gallery">
<img src="{{selectedPhoto.url}}">
</div>
</template>
then add a helper to your template:
Template.gallery.isFirstRun = function(){
// because the Session variable will most probably be undefined the first time
return !Session.get("hasRun");
}
and change the action on click:
Template.gallery.events({
'click .main' : function(){
$(".main").fadeOut();
Session.set("hasRun", true);
}
})
you still get to fade out the element but then instead of hiding it or removing it and having it come back on the next render you ensure that it will never come back.
the render is triggered by changing the Sessionvariable, which is reactive.
I think using conditional templates is a better approach,
{{#if firstRun }}
<div class="main">First run info.... Only on first visit should user see this info.</div>
{{else}}
gallery ...
{{/if}}
You'll have to make firstRun a session variable, so that it'll trigger DOM updates.
Meteor is reactive. You don't need to write the logic for redrawing the DOM when the data changes. Just write the code that when X button is clicked, Y is removed from the database. That's it; you don't need to trouble yourself with any interface/DOM changes or template removal/redrawing or any of that. Whenever the data that underpins a template changes, Meteor automatically rerenders the template with the updated data. This is Meteor’s core feature.
