bootstrap 4 dropdown menu outside close - javascript

Im using javascript to keep my dropdown toggle on a Bootstrap 4 website not closing when clicking inside the .dropdown element, but I'm having hard time getting it to work so it closes when i click outside the .dropdown element. Currently it doesn't close unless i click the toggle button again...
Any suggestions?
Here is the script
jQuery('.dropdown-toggle').on('click', function (e) {
$(this).next().toggle();
});
jQuery('.dropdown-menu.keep-open').on('click', function (e) {
e.stopPropagation();
});
if(1) {
$('body').attr('tabindex', '0');
}
else {
alertify.confirm().set({'reverseButtons': true});
alertify.prompt().set({'reverseButtons': true});
}

Simply you can add an onclick: event.stopPropagation() event on the .dropdown-menu to achieve what you want <div class="dropdown-menu" onclick="event.stopPropagation()">
P.S: to use jQuery you can use $ instead of jQuery. If you cannot use it, you may have jQuery noConflict mode enabled somewhere in your code, see jQuery noConflict

Replace the heading name with dropdown name when clicked

Here I have a dropdown button where it has following three list in dropdown. When I click the list in the dropdown it has to replace the name with the list name in the dropdown. Help me out with the issue. Thanks in advance. Heres the fiddle link https://jsfiddle.net/e8bny3kv/

<div class="container">
<h2>Dropdowns</h2>
<p>The .dropdown class is used to indicate a dropdown menu.</p>
<p>Use the .dropdown-menu class to actually build the dropdown menu.</p>
<p>To open the dropdown menu, use a button or a link with a class of .dropdown-toggle and data-toggle="dropdown".</p>
<div class="dropdown">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-primary dropdown-toggle" data-toggle="dropdown">

</button>
<div class="dropdown-menu">

<a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Link 2</a>
<a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Link 3</a>
</div>
</div>
</div>
Try this
`$('.dropdown-item').click(function() {
$('.dropdown-toggle').html($(this).html());
});`
Maybe you want something like this:
document.querySelector('.dropdown>button').addEventListener('click',function(e){
e.currentTarget.innerText = 'focused';
});
You can use this
JS fiddle
$('.dropdown-item').click(function(){
$(this).parent().parent().parent().find('.dropdown-toggle').html(($(this).text()))
})
You can do this using simple Javascript -
Try this fiddle - https://jsfiddle.net/z1qbfgcp/1/
let dropDownItem = document.querySelectorAll('.dropdown-item')
dropDownItem.forEach(item => {
item.addEventListener('click', function(){
this.closest('.dropdown').children[0].innerText = this.innerText
})
})
$(".dropdown-menu a").click(function() {
$("button").text($(this).text());
})

<div class="dropdown">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-primary dropdown-toggle" data-toggle="dropdown">
Dropdown button
</button>
<div class="dropdown-menu">
<a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Link 1</a>
<a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Link 2</a>
<a class="dropdown-item" href="#">Link 3</a>
</div>
</div>
You can use CSS for this, just delete the "Dropdown button" text and use the ::before pseudo-element to make the text change in the different states.
.dropdown.show .dropdown-toggle::before{
content:'Dropdown button: open'
}
.dropdown-toggle::before{
content:'Dropdown button: close'
}

overflow is sending dropdown behind the parent div while using li, z-index is not working

folks, I can't seem to figure out why overflow is breaking the code
so below code works fine in two conditions.
a) if I remove overflow-x and overflow-y from .bs-exmple or
b) if I remove ul and li
but I need both in my code, however with these css and ul and li being in code, the dropdown collapses behind the div. what am i missing
.bs-example { border: 1px solid black; overflow-y: scroll; overflow-x: hidden; min-height: 100px; max-height: 250px; }
.bs-example .dropdown { position: absolute; z-index: 999; }

Bootstrap dropdown button disappears after clicking it

The button which should unhide the dropdown menu actually hides the dropdown button instead. Also, I have one more dropdown menu in this navigation and it works perfectly fine.

Cant get React component to format with Bootstrap style

Doing a basic example but the bootstrap style won't apply to the button coming from the React component. It does apply to the button within the HTML file. I have provided the bootstrap css from the CDN in the HTML file. Running on a simple python web server (python -m http.server 8001). What gives?

className
To specify a CSS class, use the className attribute. This applies to
all regular DOM and SVG elements like <div>, <a>, and others.
