Stop Loop Property in wavesurfer.js - javascript

I'm using wavesurfer.js in my new project. (Source Link)
It has some methods to use for backward/forward in the media player.
Methods : skip(), skipBackward(), skipForward()
The problem is when you are using skip()/skipForward() in last moments, before the media finish, it starts again from the beginning. I need to stop playing at the end. I don't want that loop property. I have searched the documentation. Nothing there also. It doesn't have a loop option to make it false!

As I said, the problem is when media is about to finish, Example:
Wavesurfer On Playing
And you click on Forward Button, It jumps to first of the media) Example: Wavesurfer After Forward
So in this situation, I wanna pause the media & keep the playing cursor at the end. (Or just stop it) I don't need the loop. What can I do ?!

Hovering refuses to work when another element is on top

By the way, this is coming from a beginner coder, so don't expect any great amount of organization. I may have missed something obvious.
I couldn't get it to work here as a snippet (for security reasons, it won't allow images to be loaded, not even showing the failing to load icon), so I made a copy of it here.
The issue is that, while hovering over a folder, it works fine, but when I begin hovering over the menu that pops up while hovering over the folder, it starts flashing rapidly. Yes, the menu is supposed to delete itself when the user stops hovering over the folder and show when the user hovers over the folder.

Disabling inactive toggle in jQuery

I have the following functional code. However, I would like to know how I can disable toggle buttons. I always want to have one of my bottom navbar icons active and its respective content should be shown in the main section. If I click on the active navbar icon (the toggle) it wouldn't be deactivated.
Thanks in advance for your help!

If you find it easier, here's my CodePen: https://codepen.io/fergos2/pen/vYYaRzN
You can use this jQuery code. Anyone can enhance that.
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.bottom-navbar a').click(function(){
var cls = $(this).attr('class');
var lastchr = cls.substr(cls.length - 1);
$(this).siblings('a').removeClass('active');
$(this).addClass('active');
$("div[class^='content-'],div[class*=' content-']").removeClass('active');
$('.content-'+ lastchr).addClass('active');
})
});
Instead of toggleClass() you could use addClass():
https://codepen.io/vladanme/pen/LYYBrqJ
$(document).ready(function() {
// only show menu-1
$('.menu-1').click(function() {
if ($('.menu-2, .menu-3').hasClass('active')) {
$('.menu-2, .menu-3').removeClass('active');
$('.content-2, .content-3').removeClass('active');
}
$('.menu-1').addClass('active');
$('.content-1').addClass('active');
});
// only show menu-2
$('.menu-2').click(function() {
if ($('.menu-1, .menu-3').hasClass('active')) {
$('.menu-1, .menu-3').removeClass('active');
$('.content-1, .content-3').removeClass('active');
}
$('.menu-2').addClass('active');
$('.content-2').addClass('active');
});
// only show menu-3
$('.menu-3').click(function() {
if ($('.menu-2, .menu-1').hasClass('active')) {
$('.menu-2, .menu-1').removeClass('active');
$('.content-2, .content-1').removeClass('active');
}
$('.menu-3').addClass('active');
$('.content-3').addClass('active');
});
});
Use addClass() instead of toggleClass().
It looks like you have the code to clear the inactive buttons already. So you're only left with the button that you would like to maintain active.

for/if loop to run a function multiple times depending on input :: jquery

I am writing a slider from scratch, no plugins.
I have my slider working, based on adding the slides together and plus or minus the length of the slider window.
It has become complicated when pagination needs to be added. I can't seem to wrap my head around the logic of the function needed to be written that states.
if button 1 is clicked run the function 1 time and go to slide one.
if button 2 is clicked run the function 2 times and go to slide two. .... and so on..
The issue I see coming from this is if on slide 3 and the button 4 is clicked the function only needs to move once not 4 times!! This is where my head breaks and all logic spills out of my ears.
How do I go about writing something like this?
here is the jsfiddle I have so far. http://jsfiddle.net/r5DY8/2/
Any help would be appreciated.

It's more complicated than just calling the function a number of times. As the animation is asynchronous, you need to call the function again when the animation has finished, not right away.
Add a callback parameter to the function so that it can use that do do something when the animation finishes:
var moveSlide = function (thisobject, callback) {
Add the callback to the animation:
$('#moveSlide').animate({
'margin-left': slideW * (-currentSlidePosition)
}, callback);
Make a function moveTo that will call moveSlide in the right direction, and use itself as callback:
function moveTo(target){
if (target < currentSlidePosition) {
moveSlide($('#clickLeft'), function(){ moveTo(target); });
} else if (target > currentSlidePosition) {
moveSlide($('#clickRight'), function(){ moveTo(target); });
}
}
Bind the click event to the links in the dots. Use the index method to find out which slide you want to go to, and call moveTo to do it:
$('.dots a').click(function(e){
e.preventDefault();
var target = $(this).parent().index();
moveTo(target);
});
Fiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/Guffa/r5DY8/3/
From a purely logical point of view (assumes the existence of two variables - curr_slide_num and butt_num):
for (var i=0; i < Math.abs(curr_slide_num - butt_num); i++) my_func();
Be careful of zero indexing; either treat the first button and first slide as number 0, or neither, else the maths will break down.
This takes no account of the direction the slider should move. I haven't looked at your Fiddle but I guess you would pass direction as an argument to the function. Let's say the function expects direction as its first argument - the string 'left' or 'right'
for (var i=0; i < Math.abs(curr_slide_num - butt_num); i++)
my_func(curr_slide_num < butt_num ? 'left' : 'right');

Disallow Interaction With Website During Animations

I am attempting to write some javascript that will create textareas and when you click on a textarea to begin typing it grows and centers in the window until you click off of it where it shrinks back down.
Easy enough, until I wanted to add the .animate() and suddenly I have some serious problems that I am pouring too much time into trying to figure out.
While running some quality assurance I discovered a number of bugs...
-If I drop focus on the textarea that is animating its growth while it is still animating then the .blur() function fails to call.
-If I shift focus to another textarea while the first is still animating
then both may remain large failing to call the .blur() function.
-Finally there is just some really strange activity with the centering feature. .scrollTo() and .animate() perform poorly together especially when there are many textareas or I am picking a box that in the midst of many.
Is there a way to disallow any interaction with the website while an animation plays out?
Any ideas on how to remedy any of these issues?
the javascript... boxy.js
Code:
function growthearea() {
$('textarea.textfield').blur(function(){
$(this).animate({ height: "51" }, 500); //shrink the current box when lose focus
//$(this).height(51);
});
$('textarea.textfield').focus(function(){
$("*").off("focus,blur,click"); //turn off focus,blur,click while animating
var wheretoY = $(this).offset().top-73;
window.scrollTo(17,wheretoY);
// turn back on focus,blur,click after animation completes
$(this).animate({ height: "409" }, 1000, function(){("*").on("focus,blur,click")});
//$(this).height(409);
});

Trouble with the CSS to change start position on a slider

I'm very new to CSS and Javascript, and as a sort of project have been working on a slider that moves in two directions, both horizontally and vertically. I've used this guide as a model, and have something that is mostly serviceable.
However, I'd like for the slider to 'begin' not at the standard point of origin (that is, the left-most and upper-most slide) but at a different, customizable point--for instance, the horizontal and vertical centermost of the available slides--and nothing I try helps me to do this. I've played around with margins, positions and padding, but everything only messes the slider up. Does anyone have an idea for how I can change the slide that is showing on pageload?
Here's the CSS that I have so far:
.testprojbody
{
background-color: black;
padding: 0;
overflow: hidden;
}
.slider-holder
{
width: 98%;
height: 665px;
border: 2px black solid;
background-color: white;
float: center;
margin-left: 9px;
}
.slider
{
width: 987px;
height: 610px;
overflow: hidden;
float:center;
margin-top: 25px;
border: 2px black solid;
margin-left: 35px;
}
.holder
{
width: 200%;
height: 200%;
position: relative;
}
.slide
{
float: left;
width: 987px;
height: 610px;
position: relative;
}
.slider-navright
{
text-align: center;
margin: 310px 0 0 1030px;
position: absolute;
}
.slider-navright a {
width: 0;
height: 0;
display: inline-block;
overflow: hidden;
text-indent: -9999px;
border-top: 40px solid transparent;
border-bottom: 40px solid transparent;
border-left: 20px solid #999;
}
.slider-navleft {
text-align: center;
margin: 310px 0 0 12px;
position: absolute;
}
.slider-navleft a {
width: 0;
height: 0;
display: inline-block;
overflow: hidden;
text-indent: -9999px;
border-top: 40px solid transparent;
border-bottom: 40px solid transparent;
border-right: 20px solid #999;
}
.slider-navtop {
text-align: center;
margin: 2px 0 0 501px;
position: absolute;
}
.slider-navtop a {
width: 0;
height: 0;
display: inline-block;
overflow: hidden;
text-indent: -9999px;
border-left: 40px solid transparent;
border-right: 40px solid transparent;
border-bottom: 20px solid #999;
}
.slider-navbot {
text-align: center;
margin: 642px 0 0 501px;
position: absolute;
}
.slider-navbot a {
width: 0;
height: 0;
display: inline-block;
overflow: hidden;
text-indent: -9999px;
border-left: 40px solid transparent;
border-right: 40px solid transparent;
border-top: 20px solid #999;
}
Here's the Javascript, which allows for nav & animation and so on:
<script type="text/javascript">
var positionH = 0
var positionV = 0
$(document).ready(function(){
var slider = {
el: {
slider: $("#slider"),
allSlides: $(".slide"),
sliderNavRight: $(".slider-navright"),
sliderNavLeft: $(".slider-navleft"),
sliderNavTop: $(".slider-navtop"),
sliderNavBot: $(".slider-navbot"),
},
timing: 400,
slideWidth: 987,
slideHeight: 610,
// In this simple example, might just move the
// binding here to the init function
init: function() {
this.bindUIEvents();
},
bindUIEvents: function() {
// nav code
this.el.sliderNavRight.on("click", "a", function(event) {
slider.handleNavRightClick(event, this);
});
this.el.sliderNavLeft.on("click", "a", function(event) {
slider.handleNavLeftClick(event, this);
});
this.el.sliderNavTop.on("click", "a", function(event) {
slider.handleNavTopClick(event, this);
});
this.el.sliderNavBot.on("click", "a", function(event) {
slider.handleNavBotClick(event, this);
});
},
handleNavRightClick: function(event, el) {
positionH+=1;
event.preventDefault();
this.el.slider.animate({
scrollLeft: this.slideWidth * positionH
}, this.timing);
},
handleNavLeftClick: function(event, el) {
positionH-=1;
event.preventDefault();
this.el.slider.animate({
scrollLeft: this.slideWidth * positionH
}, this.timing);
},
handleNavTopClick: function(event, el) {
event.preventDefault();
positionV--;
this.el.slider.animate({
scrollTop: this.slideHeight * positionV
}, this.timing);
},
handleNavBotClick: function(event, el) {
event.preventDefault();
positionV++;
this.el.slider.animate({
scrollTop: this.slideHeight * positionV
}, this.timing);
},
};
slider.init();});
</script>
<script type="text/javascript">
//arrow functions
$(document.documentElement).keydown(function(event){
if (event.keyCode == 39){
//go right
event.preventDefault();
$('.slider-navright a')
.click();
} else if (event.keyCode == 37){
//go left
event.preventDefault();
$('.slider-navleft a')
.click();
} else if (event.keyCode == 38){
//go up
event.preventDefault();
$('.slider-navtop a')
.click();
} else if (event.keyCode == 40){
//go down
event.preventDefault();
$('.slider-navbot a')
.click();
}
});
// makes slider unselectable AND makes arrow nav work better
$(".slider").disableSelection();
</script>
and here's the relevant HTML:
<body class="testprojbody">
<div class="slider-holder">
<div class="slider" id="slider">
<div class="holder">
<div class="slide" id="slide-x0y0"></div>
<div class="slide" id="slide-x1y0"></div>
<div class="slide" id="slide-x0yA"></div>
<div class="slide" id="slide-x0y0"></div>
</div>
</div>
<nav class="slider-navright">
Move Right
</nav>
<nav class="slider-navleft">
Move Left
</nav>
<nav class="slider-navtop">
Move Up
</nav>
<nav class="slider-navbot">
Move Down
</nav>
</div>
</body>
</html>
Hope this is comprehensible, as I said, I'm very new (only picked up javascript about two weeks ago, and html maybe a month and a half ago), so I'm sure this is very sloppy, roundabout code. Still, if anyone could help, it would be much appreciated!
Thanks.
Looks like the first lines on your JavaScript could be what you're looking for.
Have you tried changing the values of
var positionH = 0
var positionV = 0
to the positions you want?
EDIT
Okay so following on you can use those variables you'll just need to add a little more code to your init method...
init: function() {
this.bindUIEvents();
this.el.slider.scrollLeft(positionH);
this.el.slider.scrollTop(positionV);
}
Then change the positionH and positionV variables.
