Codepen link
I edited your codepen a bit. So what I done:
removed your on click handler
added one handler for all clicks
applied it only for your images
added id for modal-img
I don't recommend you to use multiple ids with the same value. Would be better to use classes instead
// Get the modal
var modal = document.getElementById("myModal");
// Get the image and insert it inside the modal - use its "alt" text as a caption
// var img = document.getElementById("myImg");
var modalImg = document.getElementById("modal-img");

// modal.style.display = "block";
// modalImg.src = this.src;
// captionText.innerHTML = this.alt;
// }
document.addEventListener("click", (e) => {
const elem = e.target;
if (elem.id==="myImg") {
modal.style.display = "block";
modalImg.src = elem.dataset.biggerSrc || elem.src;
captionText.innerHTML = elem.alt;

<h2>Image Modal</h2>
<p>In this example, we use CSS to create a modal (dialog box) that is hidden by default.</p>
<p>We use JavaScript to trigger the modal and to display the current image inside the modal when it is clicked on. Also note that we use the value from the image's "alt" attribute as an image caption text inside the modal.</p>

IMROVEMENT START========>
i agree the comment of #s.kuznetsov I also not recommend declaring js events inside html tags, so i am adding a simple code without declaring js events in html tag, just use class instead of id for every image and place this JavaScript code.
Image add class gallery
<img class="gallery" src="https://www.w3schools.com/howto/img_snow.jpg" alt="Snow1">
JavaScript code
var modal = document.getElementById("myModal");
var span = document.getElementsByClassName("close")[0];
document.querySelectorAll('.gallery').forEach(function(gallery) {
gallery.onclick = function(){
var modalImg = document.getElementById("img");
var captionText = document.getElementById("caption");
modal.style.display = "block";
modalImg.src = gallery.src;
captionText.innerHTML = gallery.alt;
}
});
// When the user clicks on <span> (x), close the modal
span.onclick = function() {
modal.style.display = "none";
}
<=======END IMPROVEMENT
You are using same id in both images so this is not working, use function on click without using id check below JavaScript code.
// Get the modal
var modal = document.getElementById("myModal");
function popupImage(image){
// Get the image and insert it inside the modal - use its "alt" text as a caption
var modalImg = document.getElementById("img");
var captionText = document.getElementById("caption");
modal.style.display = "block";
modalImg.src = image.src;
captionText.innerHTML = image.alt;

Try using class because id must be unique for only one tag but class can be same in one more tag.

Why does jQuery or a DOM method such as getElementById not find the element?

I want to click this image and for it to become larger:
This is how it's supposed to look after I click the image:
I placed the JavaScript code in another file to order things and now it isn't responding. it does nothing basically What I want is to click on an image and the image is brought up in a model of sorts. I will add images once I figure out how. each one of this are in a different file in the same folder.
This is the HTML code

Update:
Using the answers provided I have tried what you suggested. However, when I click on the picture this happens which is not what I want:
Your code is unresponsive as you're trying to run your code before the page has fully loaded, meaning that your Javascript doesn't know about the elements in the DOM (document object model) and thus won't be able to function properly. So, you should run your code only when the page loads by using window.onload. Simpler, you can also bring the <script></script> tag to the bottom of the code since it runs from top to bottom. So, it loads that page then runs the script.
Also, you need to add an image source (using the src attribute) to your second image tag:
<img src="7.jpg" class="modal-content" id="img01">
See example below:
window.onload = function() { // add window.onload here and set it euqal to a function
// Get the modal
var modal = document.getElementById('myModal');
// Get the image and insert it inside the modal - use its "alt" text as a caption
var img = document.getElementById('myImg');
var modalImg = document.getElementById("img01");
var captionText = document.getElementById("caption");
img.onclick = function() {
modal.style.display = "block";
modalImg.src = this.src;
captionText.innerHTML = this.alt;
}
// Get the <span> element that closes the modal
var span = document.getElementsByClassName("close")[0];
// When the user clicks on <span> (x), close the modal
span.onclick = function() {
modal.style.display = "none";
}
} // close the function

I found this code for image popping up on click, but I want to make it for more than one image. So I tried to change the element(myImg) from ID to Class so I can use smaller code for the page but as soon as I change the ID to Class to code stops to work. I putted the edited version of the code that doesn't work. When it was working when I clicked on the image it popped up in front of the page. When I changed from ID to Class when I click the image nothing happens.

Javascript:
var modal = document.getElementById('myModal');
// Get the image and insert it inside the modal - use its "alt" text as a
caption
var img = document.getElementsByClassName('myImg');
var modalImg = document.getElementById("img01");
var captionText = document.getElementById("caption");
img.onclick = function(){

modalImg.src = this.src;

var span = document.getElementsByClassName("close")[0];
// When the user clicks on <span> (x), close the modal
span.onclick = function() {
modal.style.display = "none";
}
document.getElementsByClassName('myImg'); returns an array of nodes, so you need to add the click event to the first node img[0] in the array:

Sorry again for the big code and not providing picture but can you take look into it because when i run this code you will find the video file assigned to the first modal image is the the video playing for all the other modals although i have assigned different id to each modal and a different script for each modal please find the flaw
Cannot find the html element having id as "img01", but it is used in js (line 577 and more):
var modalImg = document.getElementById("img01");
Below are the style and scripts of my modal pop up.The same style and scripts are used in all the pages but in one particular page it show the image in this way how to hide the blue coloured image and display only the pop up image.I need to hide the div wrapper on clicking the image.How can i do this
