how to pass functions through React components - javascript

I have a React <App> component with inside this structure:

I need a click on <Card> to activate a <Button> function, and this function should change the state of <App> as "activate" I mean that when I click on a <Card> the <Button> becomes clickable.
I have some problems to understand how pass function parents to children and set the state of a parent from inside a child.
this is my App component

How do you update state in functional components in React?

I'm running into the issue where I have created a functional component to render a dropdown menu, however I cannot update the initial state in the main App.JS. I'm not really sure how to update the state unless it is in the same component.
Here is a snippet of my App.js where I initialize the items array and call the functional component.

I tried passing props and mutating the state in the functional component, but nothing gets changed. I suspect that it needs to be changed in the itemSelected function, but I'm not sure how. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
In a function component, you have the setters of the state variables. In your example, you can directly use setOpen(...) or setSelection(...). In case of a boolean state variable, you could just toggle by using setOpen(!open). See https://reactjs.org/docs/hooks-state.html (Chapter "Updating State") for further details.
So you need to do something like below . Here we are passing handleChange in parent Component as props to the child component and in Child Component we are calling the method as props.onChange

For further information selectChip() function sets the state of a component App, parent of Breadcrump component, so it is binded to App component.
You could e.g. make that onClick function as a class method and use a simple condition inside:

Call a method pass from parent component to child component in React

I have a parent stateful react component that has a function that will change when an html span is clicked within the child component. I want to pass that method to the child component and call it when the snap is clicked I then want to pass it back up to the parent component and updated the state based on what is passed back up. I am having trouble passing down the method and calling it within the child component...

Easy communication of image between siblings

I'm new to ReactJS and I would like to communicate between my components.
When I click an image in my "ChildA" I want to update the correct item image in my "ChildB" (type attribute in ChildA can only be "itemone", "itemtwo", "itemthree"

I can retrieve the image on my onClick handler in my ChildA but I don't know how to give it to my ChildB. Any hints are welcomed, thanks you!
What you need is for Parent to pass an event handler down to ChildA which ChildA will call when one of the images is clicked. The event handler will call setState in Parent to update its state with the given value, and then Parent will pass the value down to ChildB in its render method.
You can see this working in the below example. Since I don't have any actual images to work with—and to keep it simple—I've used <button>s instead, but the principle is the same.

Value not getting passed from child to parent component in React

As you can see in the two components below, i want to delete the recipes(in app component) from a button click in the panelcomponent,
i have a method in app to delete the recipe, and a prop(onclick) send to child panelcomponent. Panel then gets the index from the map of recipes, and after the button click it executes the handleDelet method to send the index back to parent. but No this is not working !

Thea actual error in your code is that while using arrow function in the onClick in parent, you are passing the wrong parameter, instead of {()=>this.handleDelete(index)} what you should write is
{(value)=>this.handleDelete(value)}, However, that also not necessary and you could simple write {this.handleDelete} in App since your handleDelete function is already binded and it received the values from the Child component.

The difference in writing {()=>this.handleDelete(index)} vs {(value)=>this.handleDelete(value)} is that in the first case, you are explicitly passing the index that you get from the map function in your App component while in the second case, the value passed from the child component when you execute this.props.onClick(value) is being provided to the handleDelete function.
you are sending the function wrongly as props. you are sending the result of the function as props rather than the function itself
