I have a javascript function for a slider in the JS file of my site. When we are in a page where the slider is not called or there is no trigger element, it displays an error in the console "Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read properties of null (reading 'querySelector') ", This error is not displayed when the slider is in the page.
I would like to know how to avoid this error, and how to prevent this function from loading in pages where this slider is not present?

Just return if the element isn't present if you don't want it to show an error.
const sliderContainer = document.querySelector(set.name);
if (!sliderContainer) return;
const slider = sliderContainer.querySelector('.slider'),

If you want it to only execute on certain pages, then just add:
if (location.pathname !== '/the/page/with/slider') return;
to the beginning of the function

I have built a slider using SCSS, JavaScript, and HTML. The demo is here: https://jsfiddle.net/rr7g6a1b/

The pagination buttons work fine in Chrome but in Safari, they occasionally flicker or get cut off after you click on the buttons. Is there an error/workaround for this kind of flickering? I'm not sure what could be causing this issue.
Css workaround for -webkit- browsers. Try adding the following to the flickering button's css.
-webkit-perspective: 1000;
-webkit-backface-visibility: hidden;
-webkit-transform: translate3d(0,0,0);
Before I get into details, please take a look at the live example where this problem occurs - http://jsfiddle.net/66HFU/ (Script code at the bottom of this post)
Now if you would click on any image at last row, it would display these. However if you would click on upper row images, below row images are shown.
Further investigation shows that for somewhat reason the letter called function selector elements only get binded with event listener while the firstly called functions selector elements do not.
So, I would like to know is there are any ways to make the function call independent so the latter function call does not override first one (if that would fix the problem, of-course)?
The place where the event function gets bind on the element can be found in function f_AddEvents first lines.
And the the main function calls that are used to initialize Light Box is at the bottom of the code like this:
LightBox.init({
selector: "[data-simplbox='demo1']",
boxId: "simplbox"
});
LightBox.init({
selector: "[data-simplbox='demo2']",
boxId: "simplbox",
imageLoadStart: activityIndicatorOn,
imageLoadEnd: activityIndicatorOff
});
All code:

Your code is almost working. What you handled badly is the fact that you can perform several init. On each init, you overwrite some items, especially with this line :
base.m_Elements = document.querySelectorAll(base.m_Options.selector);
So base.m_Elements will only have the elements of the last init.
( Based on the name 'init' i wonder if the real use case wouldn't be to allow just one call of init... )
Quick-fix is to do one single init with :
LightBox.init({
selector: "[data-simplbox='demo1'],[data-simplbox='demo2']",
boxId: "simplbox"
});
(erase the two calls to init)
And here it works.
http://jsfiddle.net/gamealchemist/66HFU/1/
So i guess either you want to support several init, or (easier to maintain in fact), throw exception on multiple init and expect the lib user to write the right selector in the single init call.
Edit : Super quick fix for your issue : rather than having LightBox as a singleton, have it as a Class :
function LightBox( initArguments ) {
// something like what was done in init
}
LightBox.prototype = {
f_RemoveImage : function() {
} ,
f_OpenImage : function( ..., ... ) {
} ,
...
}
then you can call with no issue :
var demo1LB = new LightBox({ selector: "[data-simplbox='demo1']",
boxId: "simplbox" });
var demo2LB = new LightBox({ selector: "[data-simplbox='demo2']",
boxId: "simplbox" });
I know very little about Javascript but need to use hammer.js in a project I'm working on.
Instead of replacing/refreshing the image im trying to use the pull to refresh scrit to refresh the page.
Ive tried adding
location.reload();
to the script but to no avail, can anyone shed any light on this.

This is the code im using
/**

var vendors = ['ms', 'moz', 'webkit', 'o'];
for(var x = 0; x < vendors.length && !window.requestAnimationFrame; ++x) {

window.cancelAnimationFrame =
window[vendors[x]+'CancelAnimationFrame'] || window[vendors[x]+'CancelRequestAnimationFrame'];
}
if (!window.requestAnimationFrame)
window.requestAnimationFrame = function(callback, element) {

There is a Beer involved for anyone that can fix this :)
http://jsfiddle.net/zegermens/PDcr9/1/
You're assigning the return value of the location.reload function to the src attribute of an Image element. I'm not sure if the function even has a return value, https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Location.reload
Try this:
// update image onrefresh
refresh.handler = function() {
var self = this;
// a small timeout to demo the loading state
setTimeout(function() {
window.location.reload();
}, 1000);
};
I am trying to implement column resizing using jQuery like below(Please see http://jsbin.com/uduNUbo/1/edit)
Here is my JS code
function resizeEvents(selector) {
function XY(e, ele) {
var parentOffset = ele.parent().offset();
return e.pageX - parentOffset.left;
}
var checkPos;
$(selector).on('mousedown', function () {
$(this).attr('init', true);
return false;
});
$(selector).on('mouseup', function () {
$(this).attr('init', false);
});
$(selector).closest('div').on('mousemove', function (e) {
var inits = $(this).find('.resize').filter(function(){
return $(this).attr('init') == true;
});
if (inits.length > 0) {
var pos = XY(e, inits.first());
if (!checkPos) {
checkPos = pos;
return false;
} else {
var moved = checkPos - pos, a = moved > 0 ? 1 : -1 ;
th.prevAll().each(function () {
if (!$(this).hasClass('.resize')) {
$(this).width($(this).width() + a);
}
});
th.nextAll().each(function () {
if (!$(this).hasClass('.resize')) {
$(this).width($(this).width() - a);
}
});
}
}
});
}
resizeEvents('.resize');
But this is not working, My Question is Is mousemove is written properly, to define properly on correct element or not.
I fixed the code for you:
function resizeEvents(selector) {
var selected;
$(selector).on('mousedown', function () {
selected = $(this);
return false;
});
$(document).mouseup(function () {
selected = null;
}).mousemove(function(e) {
var target = $(e.target);
var table = target.parents('.table');
if (table.length && selected) {
var x = e.pageX - table.offset().left;
var splitter_x = selected.offset().left;
var prev = selected.prev();
var next = selected.next();
prev.width(prev.width() + (x - splitter_x));
next.width(next.width() - (x - splitter_x));
}
});
}
