I'm a newbie of Vue, and I'm trying to simply clear the data of input component once I've submitted, but it seems I'm missing something, because since it's parent data is cleared, I still see the filled value of the input component.
Here is a living example.
I've set to the input child component v-model="title" from it's parent wrapper. Once I submit the data to the parent, I call addItem and in the end, I supposed to clear the data model just by clear it this.title = '', but I probably do something wrong on how to bind data from parent to child.

What am I missing?
Your child component is bound unidirectionally. It means that it can change the value, but does not receive any update from the parent component. To receive updates, you need to receive the property value in your child:

I have a vue app where a user can randomize a title and subtitle OR edit the fields using a custom input component.
When a user chooses to edit, I'd like to send the updated title and subtitle from the input component to the store to mutate the title and subtitle state when clicking the save button after filling out the values desired in the input component.
Currently able to pass values from parent to child and had an emit present for the parent to listen to, however, I'm not sure how to update the original values to the custom ones and get "undefined" as a result from the $emit.
I can't seem to find a solution to this problem, all the forums I have been on haven't helped so I really hope someone on here can help me with my problem; would really appreciate it.

Where I was having the biggest issue was most in the Vuex store, not the parent to child lifecycle like I thought. The emit was working just fine and needed to add in some computed properties to the custom input component. How I was approaching the store was completely backwards and gutted the updateTitleAndSubtitle() action to what's shown below. And lastly, added an #input that would send the updated object of values to onEdit() to set the values to an empty object in the data. Then, use that object with the new values to dispatch/commit to the store! Vualá ~ the desired behavior, no errors, and ended up figuring it out with some time.
What I was missing was passing the new emitted data object to a store action to then mutate the state. The whole concept behind this code challenge was to take in data from the store, modify it through a component, send back the modified data to the store to then change the state. A bit overkill for this, BUT it's the practice and concept I needed to approach a much larger problem in an existing application at work.

Also, I would hesitate using state.title and state.subtitle as your edit mode vars as conventionally you should only change those values via mutations. Instead, pass a local var as the prop to your child component and call the method using it instead.

Given your comments it makes more sense why the code is unnecessarily complex. It's perfectly fine to pass your state vars as props as long as your #input handler doesn't try to write back to it. You don't need the local var. Try this:

You could completely get rid of the methods by just doing the assignment directly in the template:

I used the HelloWorld template so that's why there are some references to that, but I'm sure you can easily clean that up :)
And also, there may be some small edge case bugs that you can clean up. This should point you in the right direction though.

I've imported it globally; and am invoking it in another view by doing:

My model is in data and the property ShowInCalendar is a boolean and in my test case is true. So when I view the page the box is checked. Using the Vue tools in firefox I can see the model.ShowInCalendar is true, and the box is checked. However, when I click it the box remains checked and the value of ShowInCalendar changes to 'on', then changes thereafter do not change the value of ShowInCalendar.
I found this example here: https://jsfiddle.net/robertkern/oovb8ym7/ and have tried to implement a local data property for it but the result is not working.
The crux of what I'm trying to do is have the initial checkstate of the checkbox be that of ShowInCalendar (or whatever property is bound via v-model on the component) and then have that property be update (to be true or false) when the checkbox is checked.
Can anyone offer me any advice please?

You should not $emit event.target.value, it's the value of the checkbox, it's not a Boolean value. If you want to detect the checkbox is update(to be true or false) or not, You should $emit event.target.checked just like fstep said.
If v-on is the only listener that will be used it might be easier to use v-model as in the checkbox example from the Vue input docs.
However you can use listeners based on Binding-Native-Events-to-Components docs

Don't change props. Your component, having a v-model, should be emitting input events on change. The parent will handle the actual changing of the value.

If you really want something representing a value local to your component, the Vue docs favour using computed values over watchers (ref: https://v2.vuejs.org/v2/guide/computed.html#Watchers).
The idea here is to create a computed value with getter and setter to facilitate a simplified one-way data flow.
