I have set up Gulp for the first time to compile SCSS to CSS using NanoCSS and gulp-css.
I have created a do-sass that successfully compiles SCSS and minifies the CSS.
However, when I place this in a watch task, it does not work.
If I change any of my SCSS files the do-sass command does not run. Can anyone tell me what I have done wrong?

The glob pattern used by your watch task is probably incorrect: scss/*/.scss will not look for the SCSS files you want, because it will try to traverse one more directory deeper and look for files that are named .scss (without any file name, just the extension).
What you want is to use the double-star syntax, if you want to glob any SCSS files that are nested at any level:
scss/**/*.scss
Therefore, if you update your watch task as such, it should work:
gulp.task('watch', function(){
gulp.watch('scss/**/*.scss', gulp.series('do-sass'));
});

Hi everyone I hope you having a great day, I'm trying to find a way on how do I make a min file in the same path or gulp.dest() on gulp(gulp-uglify and gulp-rename). In my code below when I run my gulp it keeps on creating *.min.js , *.min.min.js , *.min.min.min.js so on and so forth unless I stop the terminal. This is happening because your scripts task is outputting the files to the same directory as you are watching:
.pipe(gulp.dest('./src/js/'))
and
gulp.watch('./src/js/**.js', gulp.series('scripts'));
So every time scripts runs and saves to that directory it triggers your watch again which fires scripts, etc., etc.
So either save your .min's to a directory you are not watching or don't watch .min files.
BTW, change to gulp.watch('./src/js/*.js', gulp.series('scripts')); // removed one asterisk
gulp.watch(['./src/js/*.js', '!./src/js/*.min.js'], gulp.series('scripts')); //
might work - untested though.

I am attempting to compile a .scss file that is dependent on other .scss files into a single .css file using gulp.
Where I am
What I am currently working with is a directory similar to the generalized directory below. In the directory below, the global.scss file imports file1.scss, file2.scss, and file3.scss.

What I Was Hoping For
I was hoping that the gulp-sass task I wrote would see the imports and recognize the dependencies that this global.scss file had and compile everything accordingly. Here is the gulp.task I wrote:

What I Need
If you haven't figured it out by now, I need to figure out how to write a gulp task that will create a single global.css file in my dist folder from the global.scss and its dependencies. Could someone please shed some light on how this is done using gulp.
If you import everything in global.scss you shouldn't any have problems. I see an error in your sass.logError(), it's without (), also to gulp.dest you need to pass a folder path: .pipe(gulp.dest('dist/css/')); and it will create a file called global.css inside dist/css. Here is a working example:

I receive custom js and css script as a string through html form. This strings are then saved in files on filesystem. The question is how to minify those files every time they are generated/updated. I am using gulp and laravel elixir.
My first idea was to call exec("gulp something") but not sure how to configure gulp.

First step:(install plugins)
minifyCss and gulp-uglify are used by laravel-elixir. You have to install gulp-newer by npm install gulp-newer --save-dev.
Second step:(define task)
You need to define different tasks for css and js.

You should have a watch task which watches your source directories(cssSrc and jsSrc) and calls its related task.

Fourth step:(run custom watch)
Finally, you must run the custom task by gulp custom.
Conclusion:
Every time, when file is added to the source directory. Gulp will minify the file and store it in destination directory. This is tested locally and it works perfectly.

I would like something like this: gulp custom srcFile destFile.
For that situation, you need to install new plugin which is called yargs.
Installation:
You can install yargs by npm install yargs --save-dev and then you have to pass source directory and destination directory when custom task is called.
gulp custom --cssSrc=cssSource --cssDest=cssDestination --jsSrc=jsSource --jsDest=jsDestination
For example:
gulp custom --cssSrc=cssSrc/*.css --cssDest=cssDest --jsSrc=jsSrc/*.js --jsDest=jsDest

At first place, you need to store the content in a new file. A good place for this is resources/assets/js:

Ok, once created the javascript file, you need to tell to elixir to minify the custom script:

Optionally, you can version it. That means that everytime the script's content change, gulp will generate a new version in order to avoid browser's cache issues:

Got Browsersync to work with my Gulp file but I've really been struggling with getting browsersync to auto reload my static site when I make changes to the main.scss file. I've followed all the documentation on there webpage thoroughly and I still cant get page to auto refresh.
I know parts of my integration with gulp are working because when I run my default gulp task which is linked to the browser-sync task a browser window fires up with the server but when I make s simple change to my main.scss file nothing auto reloads. I have to manually refresh to see changes.

If you take out

you should see changes providing that you are looking at a HTML file located under the dest directory.
I would also check that your styles and scripts tasks are firing. You should see this in the terminal/cli. If they are firing, any reload will also be logged too.

I have a simple gulpfile that loads a javascript object from a json file (to get paths based on environment), compiles my scss files, moves them to my public directory, and also moves any javascript files to the public directory.
So my assets in /app/Http/assets/js and scss
are compiled and moved to /public/assets/js and css

This is working fine for my javascript. Also, when I run "gulp" the first time, it compiles all my scss files and moves them accordingly. However, the watch task is not working for my scss files. It DOES work for javascript files. What's really weird (to me) is that when I change my scss source to a specific file, the watch works. So,
gulp.task('css', function () {
return gulp.src(sassDir + '/**/app.scss')
.pipe(sass())
// and the rest is the same
will watch AND compile any changes to my app.scss file, but obviously not to any other scss files.
I have re-arranged and googled all I can. I don't understand why it won't work for watching scss.
EDIT: Strangely, it seems to be notify that is breaking the css watcher. When I comment it out like so:
