The line agent.add("DATA:" + data); does not have any effect. When trying the code in the browsers and changing agent.add("DATA:" + data) to document.write("DATA:" + data), everything works just fine.
I am new to Dialogflow; any hint why this callback does not seem to work?

When doing asynchronous operations (such as making network API calls), your Intent Handler must return a Promise, so the Handler Dispatcher knows to wait for the response from the API before sending the response to the user. In your case, when the response comes back, it does try to send it to the user, but since a response was already sent (with nothing) nobody sees it.
Your web browser is handling everything locally, so you don't see the same issues (even tho it is doing the same sort of thing).
While you can probably wrap your code in a Promise, the easier way is to use something like request-promise-native to do your HTTP call, do the call to agent.add() in the then() block, and return the overall promise. Something like this, perhaps:

How do I res.send object to the backend from the front end?

I am trying to communicate with the frontend to the backend. currently, I have the backend sending an expression to the frontend, and the frontend computes it. from there I want the frontend to send the computed answer back to the backend.
Forexample:

as you can see, I tried res.send in the frontend to the backend.
You appear to have mixed things up a little.
You can't use express on the front-end - it's a node application. You shouldn't need to use XMLHttpRequest on the server at all. express will handle all the routing for you.
You should use fetch on the front-end to get/post requests to the server (I've used async/await here).
It might look a little more like this.

You invert frontend and backend :) It is the frontend that sends the XMLHTTPREQUEST and it is the server that processes the request and returns the response.
This being said, using res.send is the right solution to return a response. You did the right thing in BACKEND. Therefore, you can uncomment the // res.send(parseInt(arr[0]) + parseInt(arr[2])) and leave the backend code as it is.
What is missing in the FRONTEND is a code to listen to and handle this response :

XMLHttpRequest return from a function before response is back

I have a function as the code below, I am trying to send a file through XMLHttpRequest to the server and then store it in DB and retrieve the id of the file in DB and make an object of ids.
The problem is that the function exits a lot before I got the response back from the server to store it in the object therefore the object doesn't store those values.
I know that I need make the XHR asynchronous but it doesn't change the result, I have also tried timeout or using a different platform like Ajax but still, it didn't work.

You are not awaiting the request. To make the existing code wait for the result, you'd need to wrap the outdated callback-based code in a promise and await that (and also I don't think getting the response text of an XHR works as you showed, I changed it now):

Note there is no error handling yet, if the request fails everything will just hang.
But at that point, it doesn't actually make sense to use XHR in the first place! It's a lot more straightforward to use fetch, which has a promise API out of the box:

Browsers (and Dashcode) provide an XMLHttpRequest object which can be used to make HTTP requests from JavaScript:

window.fetch is a modern replacement for XMLHttpRequest that makes use of ES6 promises. There's a nice explanation here, but it boils down to (from the article):

Browser support has been good since 2017. IE will likely not get official support. GitHub has a polyfill available adds support to some legacy browsers (esp versions of Safari pre March 2017 and mobile browsers from the same period).
I guess whether this is more convenient than jQuery or XMLHttpRequest or not depends on the nature of the project.

Lots of great advice above, but not very reusable, and too often filled with DOM nonsense and other fluff that hides the easy code.
Here's a Javascript class we created that's reusable and easy to use. Currently it only has a GET method, but that works for us. Adding a POST shouldn't tax anyone's skills.

IE will cache URLs in order to make loading faster, but if you're, say, polling a server at intervals trying to get new information, IE will cache that URL and will likely return the same data set you've always had.
Regardless of how you end up doing your GET request - vanilla JavaScript, Prototype, jQuery, etc - make sure that you put a mechanism in place to combat caching. In order to combat that, append a unique token to the end of the URL you're going to be hitting. This can be done by:

The best way is to use AJAX ( you can find a simple tutorial on this page Tizag). The reason is that any other technique you may use requires more code, it is not guaranteed to work cross browser without rework and requires you use more client memory by opening hidden pages inside frames passing urls parsing their data and closing them.
AJAX is the way to go in this situation. That my two years of javascript heavy development speaking.

How to get POST parameters via node.js

I a m kinda stuck. I made a request to a server. I want the server to computer a operation for me, and send me back the result.

On my server, i don't know where to find the parameter i passed. I've tryed the solution in the doc, but my code is never running into it :

chunk will have all informations because is an object, you just have to assign this values for a new object and look for the parameters. Bug make sure to have in your code:

PubSub.js multiple subscriptions, or a different way to handle awaiting on multiple callbacks

I am trying to figure out the best way to handle this scenario. Basically I want the flow to work like this:
1.) Get configuration data from server (async)
2.) Run doStuff() after configuration data is received (async)
3.) Run postResults after doStuff() completes
Currently I seem to have this flow working using PubSub.js, however I am trying to figure out how I can provide the results from config data (#1) to postResults (#3). While I seem to have the flow working with PubSub, I'm not sure how to access the configuration (#1) callback data from postResults (#3)
