Jquery validate custom css checkbox - javascript

Is there a way to validate the following checkbox ?
<form name="rmn-form" id="rmn-form" action="send.php" enctype="multipart/form-data" method="POST">
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-12 col-xs-12">
<div class="rmn-input-field">
<label for="gdpr" class="checkbox-container"> Accept terms and conditions
<input type="checkbox" checked="checked" id="gdpr" name="gdpr">
<span class="checkmark"></span>
</label>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<button type="submit" name="submit" id="submit-all" class="waves-effect waves-light btn submit-button pink mt-30">Send</button>
</form>
The checkbox is generated by https://www.w3schools.com/howto/howto_css_custom_checkbox.asp
I have the following JSFiddle with my code with the bootstrap library and jquery.validate.min.js:
http://jsfiddle.net/2837qdeu/

Just change your input tag to the code below
<input type="checkbox" required="required" id="gdpr" name="gdpr">
It will check before submit that this checkbox must be checked.
Fiddle

You also can take control of this yourself, as below:
$("[name=submit]").click(function(){
if ( $('#gdpr').is(':checked') ){
alert('submit will proceed - checkbox is checked') //This alert not required, only added for demo
}else{
alert('Error - submit will not proceed');
return false; //<== Here is the magic, along with checking that the box is checked
}
});
Revised jsFiddle
return false will stop the submit procedure, allowing you to display a message, or do some js wizardry, before returning control to the user.

I added the following line in the js file and it worked just fine:
$("#rmn-form").validate({
ignore: ':hidden:not(:checkbox)',
....
});

AngularJS form validation: show error message for checkbox after click on submit

With AngularJS, how can I show an error message for a checkbox after a click on submit button if the checkbox isn't checked?
I tried this :
<form action="/" method="post" name="myForm" novalidate>
<label>
<input type="checkbox" name="myCheckbox" ng-model="myCheckbox" value="1" required>
</label>
<p class="error" ng-show="myForm.$submitted && myForm.myCheckbox.$error.required">Error message</p>
<button type="submit" ng-disabled="myForm.$invalid">Submit</button>
</form>
But it didn't work. When I click on submit button, nothing is happening. If I remove "novalidate" on form tag or "ng-disabled" on submit button, the form is submitted even if the checkbox is not checked.
Can you help me please ?
You have ng-disabled="myForm.$invalid" in your submit button, so the submit event never is fired (because the button is disabled when the form is invalid) and thus the condition ng-show="myForm.$submitted && myForm.myCheckbox.$error.required" never is fulfilled because myForm.$submitted is false.
Edit:
As some other users here have suggested, I think your best bet would be if you change the way you are doing things right now. I can think in tow solutions (very similar), but they includes sending the request "the angular way"
Solution 1:
Handle you form submission with angular like this:
Put in your form something like this (note that I deleted the action="/" method="post" part:
<form ng-submit="onSubmit(myForm)" name="myForm" novalidate>
and remove the ng-disabled="myForm.$invalid" from your submit button. Then it would be like this <button type="submit">Submit</button>
... and in the controller
$scope.onSubmit = function(form){
if(form.$invalid){
//... do your call to backend here as you like since the call directly from the form was removed
}
}
Solution 2:
As well change form like this: <form name="myForm" novalidate>
... change your submit button like this: <button type="submit" ng-click="onSubmit(myForm)">Submit</button>
... and use the same function declared in the controller
$scope.onSubmit = function(form){
if(form.$invalid){
//... do your call to backend here as you like since the call directly from the form was removed
}
}
Otherwise you have to change your condition like this
ng-show="myForm.myCheckbox.$error.required"
but this will show the message before the form is submitted
Remove myForm.$submitted because it is never fulfilled (As Asiel Leal mentioned) and also you have put ng-disabled on submit button, so safe to use.
<form action="/" method="post" name="myForm" novalidate>
<label>
<input type="checkbox" name="myCheckbox" ng-model="myCheckbox" value="1" required>
</label>
<p class="error" ng-show="myForm.$dirty && myForm.myCheckbox.$error.required">Error message</p>
<button type="submit" ng-disabled="myForm.$invalid">Submit</button>
</form>
Try this working example :
var app = angular.module('myApp',[]);
app.controller('myController',function( $scope ) {
$scope.validate = function() {
alert('submitting..');
}
});
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/angularjs/1.2.23/angular.min.js"></script>
<div ng-app= "myApp" ng-controller="myController">
<form name="myForm" ng-submit="myForm.$valid && validate()" novalidate>
<input type="checkbox" name="checkb" ng-model="formData.checkb" required/>
<span ng-show="submitted == true && myForm.checkb.$error.required">Please select the checkbox to proceed.</span>
<input type="submit" value="Submit" ng-click="submitted = true"/>
</form>
</div>

form action change based on radio button selection in angular js

Now i have a form and two radio buttons.
Based on which radio button is selected I have to change my forms action.
here is the code
<form action={{action}} name="payform" method="post">
<div class="form-group">
<div class="radio radio-text">
<label>
<input type="radio" ng-model="cash" ng-click="paymethod('cash')" name="payment" value="cash">Cash
</label>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="col-sm-12 col-md-4 col-lg-4">
<div class="form-group">
<div class="radio radio-text">
<label>
<input type="radio" ng-model="online" ng-click="paymethod('online')" name="payment" value="online">Online
</label>
</div>
</div>
<button class="btn btn-success" name="submit" type="submit">Submit</button>
</form>
And here is the controller code
$scope.paymethod = function(ptype){
alert("hi");
if(ptype=="cash"){
$scope.action = "food.php";
}
else if(ptype=="online"){
$scope.action = "online.php";
}
}
I used alert in the function to check if the function is being called or not. And alert is working it means function is being called but when i click submit nothing happens.
Not exactly what you asked for, but it solves your problem:
Prepend your form fields ng-models with formData.
Add ng-submit to your form
Use that function to place an $http request
Very basic example:
HTML:
<form name="payform" ng-submit="submitForm()">
<input ng-model="formData.value1" />
<input ng-model="formData.value2" />
<button type="submit"></submit>
</form>
JS:
$scope.submitForm = function submitForm() {
$http.post($scope.ptype + '.php', $scope.formData).then(
function success(response) {
// do something
},
function error(response) {
// not good
}
};
Because of prefixing your form ng-model attributes with formData, you have all fields contained in one object, which you can easily use when placing a POST request.

Angular blur validation preventing submission of separate form

I have an Angular page with a form for adding people, and a button (outside this form) to submit the list of people.
When the user focuses on a text input in the form, and then clicks to submit the list, the validation error from the text input appears but the submit event never occurs.
An example of this issue here: http://plnkr.co/edit/6Z0UUs
<div ng-controller="MyCtrl as vm">
<form name="form1" novalidate="">
<input type="text" name="field1" ng-model="vm.name" required>
<div ng-messages="form1.field1.$error" ng-if="form1.field1.$touched">
<label ng-message="required">Name is required</label>
</div>
<!--
This form adds a person to a list. I've not included this code to keep the example simple
<input type="submit" value="Add person">
-->
</form>
<button ng-click="vm.submit()">Submit list</button>
</div>
-
angular.module('myApp',[])
.controller('MyCtrl', function() {
var vm = this;
vm.name = '';
vm.submit = function () {
alert('submitted');
};
});
To replicate:
Click on the text input but leave blank
Click submit
Current behavior: "Name is required" appears thanks to the validation. Clicking 'Submit' again displays the 'submitted' alert.
Expected behavior: "Name is required" appears thanks to the validation and the 'submitted' alert appears.
Desired behavior: The 'submitted' alert appears and I add some code to vm.submit() to hide the 'Name is required' validation message as it's not important when the list is submitted.
I've observed that removing the ng-messages block fixes the issue, but I do need to show a validation message. Using a more basic directive (ng-show) to show the validation message instead does not help.
Any insights into what I'm doing wrong, or workarounds to achieve my desired behavior, would be great!
[Modified Answer] :
Here is a working plunker : http://plnkr.co/edit/JCyRi8xp4L3FtafABblS?p=preview
vm.preventDefaultIfSubmitted = function($event){
if($event.relatedTarget.id == "submit"){
$event.stopImmediatePropagation();
}
};
The idea is to get the $event when the blur occurs and then to look at the id of the relatedTarget (which is your button in this case) and if it is then you cancel the $event, otherwise you keep it.
That way if you click anywhere your validation message appears and if you click on submit it doesnt
May this help for form validation
<form role="form" name="projectBriefFrm">

Javascript validating radio input not working

I am using the following Javascript code to validate that at least one of the radio inputs are checked before submitting the form, but I am facing a problem as the form always submit even if there are no radio inputs checked...can someone please help by telling me what I am missing here and how to fix it? Thanks
<script type="text/javascript">
function processPayment() {
if ($("input[name='orderAmount']:checked").length > 0){
alert('OK');
document.getElementById('orderFrm').submit();
return false;
}
else{
alert('Please select order amount');
}
}
</script>
<div id="content">
<form id="orderFrm" name="orderFrm" action="https://...." method="post" target="_top">
....
<div class="orderamnt">
<label for="orderAmount50">
<span class="labelText">50</span>
<input type="radio" id="orderAmount50" name="orderAmount" value="50"/>
</label>
</div>
<div class="orderamnt">
<label for="orderAmount100">
<span class="labelText">100</span>
<input type="radio" id="orderAmount100" name="orderAmount" value="100"/>
</label>
</div>
<div class="orderamnt">
<label for="orderAmount200">
<span class="labelText">200</span>
<input type="radio" id="orderAmount200" name="orderAmount" value="200"/>
</label>
</div>
<a class="buyNowButton" href="javascript:{}" onclick="processPayment()">Order</a>
....
</form>
</div>
Note:
I noted when checking any of the radio buttons that it changes from:
<div id="orderamnt">
<span class="">
<input type="radio" id="orderAmount200" name="orderAmount" value="200"/>
to...
<div id="orderamnt">
<span class="checked">
<input type="radio" id="orderAmount200" name="orderAmount" value="200"/>
obviously the radio input don't have checked and that's why obviously it is not working on my side, so wondering is there a way I can validate the first parent span from the radio button?
you need to do like this using is()
if ($('input[name="orderAmount"]').is(':checked'))
{
}
Using jquery 1.6.4 or +, this code is working!
$('.buyNowButton').click(function(){
if ($("input[name='orderAmount']:checked").length > 0){
document.getElementById('orderFrm').submit();
return false;
}
else{
alert('Please select order amount');
}
});

html form submiting more fields than expected

I'm dealing with a awful issue, I developed a form with multi fields set (using normal div)
and when I test the submit action I got in the URL the one input not filled, also hidden in
the markup as showed bellow.
http://127.0.0.1:8000/exform.html?user=test&pwd=QWERT1234&user_reg=
And here is the code for the form:
<form id="exform">
<div class="fields" id="login">
<div class="txt">
<label for="user"></label>
<input id="user" type="text" name="user"/>
</div>
<div class="txt">
<label for="pwd"</label>
<input id="pwd" type="password" name="pwd" />
</div>
<input type="submit" value="test" id="test"/>
</div>
<div class="fields" id="register">
<div class="txt">
<label for="user_reg"></label>
<input id="user_reg" name="user_reg" type="text"/>
</div>
<div class="txt">
<label for="pwd2"></label>
<input id="pwd2" type="password" />
</div>
<div class="txt">
<label for="pwdc"></label>
<input id="pwdc" type="password"/>
</div>
<div class="buttons">
<input type="submit" value="OK" id="ok"/>
</div>
</div>
</form>
The strange is that the second field set isn't available in the screen, because in the css
there is a rule to only show the first group with the class "fields"
/*Hide all except first div with class div*/
#exform .fields:not(:first-of-type) {
display: none;
}
So I really want to know why the form is submitting fields out of the scope.
For example, if the second group fieldset is used, when the button submit with value OK is clicked the result produced is similar. In the URL, only the user_reg field parameter is showed filled with the two another fields for the first group without values:
http://127.0.0.1:8000/exform.html?user=&pwd=&user_reg=test
The following code is for submit test:
$(function() {
$('#test').click(function() {
$('#exform').submit(function(event) {
console.log("form Submited:" + document.forms['exform'] + "test");
});
});
$('#ok').click(function() {
$('#exform').submit(function(event) {
console.log("form Submited:" + document.forms['exform'] + "ok");
});
});
});
Doesn't matter I'm got the same URL results
This
http://127.0.0.1:8000/exform.html?user=test&pwd=QWERT1234&user_reg=
or
http://127.0.0.1:8000/exform.html?user=&pwd=&user_reg=test
Instead I'm receiving:
// on #test click
http://127.0.0.1:8000/exform.html?user=test&pwd=QWERT1234
// on #ok click
http://127.0.0.1:8000/exform.html?user_reg=test&pwd2=QWERT1234&pwdc=QWERT123
I can't retrieve the values for pwd2 and pwdc fields in the URL as parameters obtained after submitting.
This got me crazy.
If you do not specify the method method of the form, the default is GET while submitting it. This is the reason to see all form elements in your URL.
Try this:
<form id="exform" method="post">
<!-- form contents -->
See here for details.
When you submit form you submit all it's input fields at ones.
Even if you hide something with css it still exists in html.
When you processed the form you can add a hidden field "input type="hidden"" and give that field a value that tells your script witch fields you want processed in witch case.
And i also fink that post method is better (more secure) especially if you send password.
