React click on item to show details - javascript

Iam new to React and I'm trying to interact with the swapi API.
I want to get the list of films (movie titles list) and when I click on a title to show the opening_crawl from the json object.
I managed to get the film titles in an array. I don't know how to proceed from here.

To iterate over movies add this in render method:

Add this method to your Movies component to add active class on click to DIV with "movie" className:

After fetching the data, just keep it in your state then use the pieces in your components or JSX. Don't return some JSX from your handleMovies method, just do the setState part there. Also, I suggest using a life-cycle method (or hooks API maybe if you use a functional component) to trigger the fetching. By the way, don't use class components unless you need a state or life-cycle methods.
After that, you can render your titles in your render method by mapping the movies state. Also, you can have a place for your opening_crawls part and render it with a conditional operator. This condition changes with a click. To do that you have an extra state property and keep the movie ids there. With the click, you can set the id value to true and show the crawls.

I am using id on the target div to get it back from the event object. I don't like this method too much but for the sake of clarity, I used this. You can refactor it and create another component may be, then you can pass the epoisde_id there and handle the setState part. Or you can use a data attribute instead of id.

React js conditionally rendering a class to a specific mapped item

I have been attempting to toggle a class on click so that when I click on one of the mapped items in my Tasks component, I add the 'complete' class and put a line through that item (crossing items off of a todo list). However with my current code set up, when I click on one element to add the class, all the other elements get crossed out as well and vice versa.
Here is my current setup. The class 'complete' is what will add a line through one of the mapped items in the Tasks component.

Your state holds only a single completed value, which OFC toggle all tasks. You could instead store a map of completed tasks.

Show and hide looped elements in ReactJs

I loop through an array of elements:

The handle change method changes the value of available to false. The problem is that then I change the state and therefore, ever icon toggles, but I just want to toggle the icon I clicked on. How can I achieve this?
You can create an object which keeps the state as keys.
Here is a working example:

Make the card into its own component and implement the state of the toggle inside of that component. In your parent component just map each card into one of these components. Each card will have its own toggle which uses the state of the card to determine how it should display.

React Click Counter: Updating State of just one element

This should be pretty simple, but I can't figure out how to do it.
I have a component with multiple buttons, each with a "count" value, set with state. When a user clicks, the count goes up.
Right now, when I click one of the buttons, both counters change. How can I make it so only the div that was clicked updates, using the same state?
Edit: I don't want to have different counts, as I'd like for this component to render buttons dynamically. What if I don't know how many buttons I'll have at first?

This is more of an issue of learning how to think in react.
If you need to be able to reuse a piece of functionality like a counter, you can make it its own component and have it manage its own state. Then you can reuse it wherever you need.

you should define two state and when press each button update the current state and you can render the current state in the dome like this

Display the content of the clicked item in a modal popUp

i'm using React to create an App where i can see the flags and various infos about every country. I'm using an API to fetch the data and i've already mapped them all with a grid. That's my code so far:

Now i would like to click on each country box item and display that clicked data inside a modal popUp. If i create a modal and i will map it, of course on click i will have all of them displayed in once. how can i pass the props of that box i clicked on the modal component? i created a function trying to capture for example the key props, but i didn't suceed. What's the best strategy? thank you very much for the help
Attach an onClick handler to each country. When it's clicked, save the country name to the state of the containing component. Render the modal with content only from the country clicked:

Your App component should maintain the state of which country should be displayed in a modal. More specifically App component will save in it's state if a modal should be displayed and which country to be displayed in the modal.
The showInfo prop that you pass to the Country component, should notify App component when a country is clicked.

Easy communication of image between siblings

I'm new to ReactJS and I would like to communicate between my components.
When I click an image in my "ChildA" I want to update the correct item image in my "ChildB" (type attribute in ChildA can only be "itemone", "itemtwo", "itemthree"

I can retrieve the image on my onClick handler in my ChildA but I don't know how to give it to my ChildB. Any hints are welcomed, thanks you!
What you need is for Parent to pass an event handler down to ChildA which ChildA will call when one of the images is clicked. The event handler will call setState in Parent to update its state with the given value, and then Parent will pass the value down to ChildB in its render method.
You can see this working in the below example. Since I don't have any actual images to work with—and to keep it simple—I've used <button>s instead, but the principle is the same.
