I am trying to add a Google Sign-In button to my Vue.js application and I found the vue-google-oauth2 plugin. I installed it and followed exactly the sample.html code to integrate it in my application, this way:
<template>
<div>
<h1>Test</h1>
<button #click="handleClickSignIn" :disabled="!isLoaded">signIn</button>
</div>
</template>
<script>
/**
* You should first need to place these 2 lines of code in your APP ENTRY file, e.g. src/main.js
*
* import GAuth from 'vue-google-oauth2'
* Vue.use(GAuth, {clientId: '4584XXXXXXXX-2gqknkvdjfkdfkvb8uja2k65sldsms7qo9.apps.googleusercontent.com'})
*
*/
export default {
name: 'test',
props: [],
components: {
},
data () {
return {
isLoaded: false
}
},
computed: {
},
methods: {
handleClickSignIn(){
this.$gAuth.signIn(function (user) {
//on success do something
console.log('user', user)
}, function (error) {
//on fail do something
})
}
},
mounted(){
let that = this
let checkGauthLoad = setInterval(function(){
that.isLoaded = that.$gAuth.isLoaded()
console.log('checked', that.isLoaded)
if(that.isLoaded) clearInterval(checkGauthLoad)
}, 1000);
}
}
</script>
The problem is that the isLoaded() method never returns true, with the Google Chrome console telling me every time I press on the button that the google api is not ready, that is the plugin console message printed when the GoogleAuthInstance is false. Could anyone help me?
Use isInit instead of isLoaded as the latter will be/is deprecated.
Add to main.js
import GAuth from 'vue-google-oauth2'
Vue.use(GAuth, {
clientId: '....apps.googleusercontent.com',
scope: 'email',
prompt: 'consent',
fetch_basic_profile: true
})
new Vue({
...
render: (h) => h(App),
}).$mount("#app");

I'm trying to learn VueJS and it's going well but i run into one problem where i can't get multiple components to work on one page, for some reason the html will load but everything in my export default wont work.
So i have 2 components: a ShortenerComponent and a StatsComponent the ShortenerComponent works and does everything it should, but the StatsComponent will only load the html and will not do anything inside the export default this is my code:
StatsComponent.vue (the ShortenerComponent is the same except for the methods and html.):
<script>
// get the csrf token from the meta
var csrf_token = $('meta[name="csrf-token"]').attr('content');
export default {
data() {
return {
};
},
test() {
this.getStats();
},
methods: {
// get all the existing urls
getStats() {
console.log('console log something');
axios.get('urls').then((response) => {
console.log('console log something');
});
},
}
}
My shortenercomponent:
<script>
// get the csrf token from the meta
var csrf_token = $('meta[name="csrf-token"]').attr('content');
export default {
data() {
return {
shortUrl: '',
url: '',
error: '',
};
},
methods: {
createUrl() {
axios({
method: 'post',
url: '/',
data: {
_token: csrf_token,
url: this.url
},
}).then(response => {
console.log(response);
this.shortUrl = response.data.hash;
}).catch(error => {
this.error = error.response.data.message;
});
}
}
}
and last but not least my app.js file
Vue.component('shortener',require('./components/ShortenerComponent.vue'));
Vue.component('stats', require('./components/StatsComponent.vue'));
var vue = new Vue({
el: '#app',
});
I hope someone could figure out what i did wrong :D
So in my code i had the test method, i thought that would call the getStats method. What i did not now is that Vue has the created method used to run code after an instance is created.
So what i had to do was:
function created()
{
this.getStats();
}

Vue.js version is: 2.x
Hi. I'm sending an ajax request in vue js to another page and getting it's source which contains vue.js syntax such as events. When this source is added to property and property added to a template, the ajax data source (that contains vue.js syntax) can not be rendered and does not work properly.
For example template is:
<div id="app">
{{{ foo }}}
</div>
and app.js is:
var app = new Vue({
el: '#app',
data: {
foo: 'bar'
},
mounted(){
this.$http.get('/media').then(function(response){
data = response.body;
Vue.set(app, 'foo', data);
});
},
methods: {
alertVideoLink: function(event){
alert(event.target.href);
}
}
});
In the above app.js code, ajax request returns this code (that is response.body):
Video Link
but this link can't be rendered and does not work properly! I'm testing the render method and some useful hints, but no way found. Please help... Thanks
Sounds like you want to use an Async Component.
Something like...
components: {
'async-media': () => Vue.http.get('/media').then(res => ({
template: res.body,
methods: {
alertVideoLink (event) {
this.$emit('click', event)
}
}
}))
}
Then in your template...
<async-media #click="handleClickEventFromChildComponent" />
Here's an example using a timeout to fake "load" a template
var app = new Vue({
el: '#app',
data: {},
components: {
'async-media': () => new Promise(resolve => {
setTimeout(() => {
resolve({
template: 'Video Link',
methods: {
alertVideoLink(event) {
this.$emit('click', event.target.href)
}
}
})
}, 2000)
})
},
methods: {
handleClickEventFromChildComponent (href) {
console.info('Clicked on', href)
}
}
});
<div id="app">
<p>Wait 2 seconds</p>
<async-media #click="handleClickEventFromChildComponent" />
</div>
<script src="https://unpkg.com/vue#2.4.2/dist/vue.min.js"></script>
#Phil's answer is correct but in my project need to be changed. in this case, the better way is: using global components vs local components because is simple for this work.
I am trying to create a web app based on a database. Setup: NodeJS and a Vuejs 2 app generated with the CLI (with Webpack). Currently, I am using axios to retrieve records into an object. Based on that object I want to draw some svg lines from certain points to other points. The method works completely as designed when running it from an #click (v-on directive). However, when I try to add it to the created hook it doesn't work. No errors displayed. It's just not running. Does anyone no why? Code example below.
<template>
<div class="holder">
<step v-for="item in steps"></step>
<events v-for="point in points"></events>
<button #click= "createArrows">Test</button>
</div>
</template>
<script>
import axios from 'axios'
import Step from './Step.vue'
import Events from './Events.vue'
export default {
name: 'Graph',
data () {
return {
steps: '',
events: '',
points: []
},
components: {
Step, Events
},
methods: {
getSteps: function() {
let getsteps = this
axios.get('localhost:8000/api/steps')
.then(function (response) {
getsteps.steps = response.data
})
.catch(function (error) {
getsteps.steps = "Invalid request"
})
},
getEvents: function() {
let getevents = this
axios.get('localhost:8000/api/events')
.then(function (response) {
getevents.events = response.data
})
.catch(function (error) {
getevents.events = "Invalid request"
})
},
createArrows: function() {
},
created() {
this.getSteps(),
this.getEvents(),
this.createArrows()
}
}
EDIT: Promises are already included in the axios library. Since I am new to this concept I missed this one. Refactored code below:
methods: {
getData: function() {
let getdata = this
axios.all([
axios.get('localhost:8000/api/steps'),
axios.get('localhost:8000/api/events')
])
.then(axios.spread(function (stepResponse, eventResponse) {
console.log('success')
getdata.steps = stepResponse.data
getdata.events = eventResponse.data
getdata.createArrows()
}))
.catch(function (error) {
console.log("Invalid request")
})
},
createArrows: function() {
}
},
created() {
this.getData()
}
}
</script>
I think it's a classic async issue.
With v-on, your call to createArrows is "timewise after" getSteps and getEvents: meaning that getSteps and getEvents have finished executing their internal ajax promises, have populated the relevant data into the component instance for createArrows to find and access.
However, inside the created() hook, if you think about it, the calls fall through to createArrows() instantaneously (before the promisy things inside getSteps and getEvents have finished).
You'll have to refactor the call to createArrows inside created() as promise resolve for it work there correctly.
I am working on a project and using Vue.js for the frontend. I have following code in the main.js file.
new Vue({ // eslint-disable-line no-new
//el: '#app',
router,
data () {
return {
friends: []
}
},
methods: {
getFriends: function () {
return this.friends;
}
},
created: function () {
this.$http.get('/user/' + this.getUserIDCookie('userID') +
'/friends').then(function (response) {
this.friends = response.data;
});
},
components: {
'nav-bar': require('./components/Navigation.vue')
},
template: `
<div id="app">
<nav-bar></nav-bar>
<router-view class="router-view"></router-view>
</div>`
}).$mount('#app');
In one of the pages(for ex. when the page is redirected to localhost/#/user/1/details, I am retrieving the friends' list from main.js like below:
<script type="text/babel">
export default {
name: 'profile',
data: function () {
return {
user: {},
friends: []
}
},
methods: {
// Some methods
},
created: function () {
this.friends = this.$root.getFriends();
}
}
</script>
The problem arises when I refresh the current page. After page refresh, this.friends is null/undefined because this.$root.getFriends() is returning null/undefined. I can move it to user component, but I want to keep it in main.js so that GET call is used once and data will be available to the whole application.
Any input regarding how to solve this issue would be great. I am using Vue 2.0.1
Really, what you want to do, is pass the data the component needs as props.
The dirt simple easiest way to do it is this.
<router-view class="router-view" :friends="friends"></router-view>
And in your profile component,
export default {
props:["friends"],
name: 'profile',
data: function () {
return {
user: {},
friends: []
}
},
methods: {
// Some methods
}
}
If you want to get more sophisticated, the later versions of VueRouter allow you to pass properties to routes in several ways.
Finally, there's always Vuex or some other state management tool if your application gets complex enough.
The problem is that when you refresh the page, the whole app reloads, which includes the get, which is asynchronous. The router figures out that it needs to render details, so that component loads, and calls getFriends, but the asynchronous get hasn't finished.
You could work around this by saving and pulling the Promise from the get, but Bert's answer is correct: the Vue Way is to send data as props, not to have children pull it from parents.
I built an app on Laravel 5.3 using vue.js and im starting to move over to vue.js to make the pages dynamic. I got everything working on a single page so want to convert that over to a component but after doing so I get the following error:
[Vue warn]: Error when rendering component <homepage> at C:\xampp\htdocs\.......
TypeError: Cannot read property 'nxt_weekly' of undefined
I was passing data to the view like so:
const app = new Vue({
el: '#app',
mounted: function () {
this.fetchEvents();
},
data: {
loading: true,
stats: []
},
methods: {
fetchEvents: function () {
this.$http.get('home/data').then(function (response) {
this.stats = response.body;
this.loading = false;
}, function (error) {
console.log(error);
});
}
});
In stats[] is where I hold the JSON response from the API and then call them all in my view like so:
<span class="stat" v-text="'stats.nxt_today'"></span>
....
....
This works but when I switch over to creating a component the errors listed above show, my new code is:
Vue.component('homepage', require('./components/Homepage.vue'),{
mounted: function () {
this.fetchEvents();
},
data: function () {
return{
loading: true,
stats: []
}
},
methods: {
fetchEvents: function () {
console.log('running here');
this.$http.get('home/data').then(function (response) {
this.stats = response.body;
this.loading = false;
}, function (error) {
console.log(error);
});
}
}
});
What am I doing wrong? How come my stats[] object is now empty when the component is trying to access it?
You need to pass your stats as a property to the component using v-bind, as shown below:
<homepage v-bind:stats="stats"></homepage>
The above needs to be done in your root template. And in your homepage component, you can receive the value in props as follows:
Vue.component('homepage', {
props: ["stats"],
mounted: function () {
// ...
},
// ...
}
Within the template of this component, you will be able to access stats.nxt_today normally.
By the way, is your stats an array or an object? You have defined it as an empty array initially, but accessing it as an object.
If you still have issues, you can use vue-devtools to view all the objects available within a component.
