I have a polar chart diagram where I am trying to move two out of four labels on the x axis. It is a diamond shape in a narrow space, so the labels at the right and left are cut off. I'm trying to move them, but I can't get them to move. I'm trying to move labels Category 1 and Category 3 down 30px and towards the centre by ~100px.
Code for labels
xAxis: {
categories: ['Category 1', 'Category 2', 'Category 3', 'Category 4'],
tickmarkPlacement: 'on',
lineWidth: 0,
labels: {
style: { fontSize: '150%',
},
},
},
Fiddle

I looked at this fiddle from here but I'm having trouble understanding it.
Since there is only one serie the only solution I can think is to use this CSS code :
.highcharts-xaxis-labels text:nth-child(1), .highcharts-xaxis-labels text:nth-child(3){
transform: translate(0,47px); !important;
}
It's not perfect but it's works
Fiddle
You can se your chart.marginLeft and chart.marginRight properties to define the side margins of your chart container. Please take a look at code and example below:
chart: {
polar: true,
type: 'line',
marginLeft: 100,
marginRight: 100,
style: {
fontFamily: 'Georgia',
}
}

I am using highcharts with angular 4.
I want to create a chart to show the result something like this:
Where:
GHRM and HR Scanner are application name.
We are showing some data groupwise (application wise here)
To achieve the above result I have tried using columnrange chart type in highcharts.
But the result of above link differs from my requirement. As you can see the result of above link:
Can any one help me to know how I can customize the categories view in this case to achieve the result as shown in first screen shot.
Getting that kind of look with grouped categories plugin would be a rather a hard task to accomplish.
Another approach is using a separate x axis for each set of categories (GHRM and HR Scanner in your case).
Axes can be positioned via left & top properties and sized via height properties. These options are not documented yet but they work. They accept relative values in percents (e.g. 30%) and absolute values in pixels (e.g. 200px).
xAxis: [{
categories: ['Category 1'],
tickWidth: 0,
height: '30%',
offset: 0,
title: {
text: 'First x axis',
rotation: 0,
align: 'high'
}
}, {
categories: ['Category 2', 'Category 3'],
tickWidth: 0,
height: '60%',
top: '40%',
offset: 0,
title: {
align: 'high',
text: 'Second x axis',
rotation: 0
}
}],
plotOptions: {
series: {
grouping: false,
groupPadding: 0,
pointPadding: 0,
borderWidth: 0
}
},
series: [{
data: [
[1, 7]
],
}, {
data: [
[2, 4],
[3, 8]
],
xAxis: 1
}]
Live demo: http://jsfiddle.net/BlackLabel/s3k3s944/
grouping has to be disabled so that columns are always centered. pointPadding, groupPadding and borederWidth force columns to occupy maximum vertical range.
All other options of axes configuration can be found in the Highcharts API: https://api.highcharts.com/highcharts/
I have a highstock area spline chart with categories on the Y-axis. No points on the chart will ever go over the Top category, but I have an unwanted space above the top category 'Alarm'.
My Y-axis contains min and max which I use to always display all of the categories. If I set the max to 8 I lose the Alarm Category and the empty line is still there.
Here is my Y-Axis code
yAxis: {
categories: ['Unknown', 'State 1', 'Disarmed', 'Armed', 'Service Timed', 'Unauthorised', 'Alert', 'Watch', 'Alarm'],
min: 0,
max: 9,
title: {
useHTML: true,
text: 'Alert Type'
},
opposite: false,
labels: {
x: 0,
y: 8
},
},
Is there anyway which I can only display enough 'lines' for my Y-axis categories and no unwanted lines which will never be used?
All help is appreciated.
I have a Highstock graph with Plotlines here: http://jsfiddle.net/qd0rmazg/3/
I'd like to be able to have a legend of Plotlines where, similar to the legend of Series, upon a click Plotlines of a certain category can be made visible or hidden.
In my JSfiddle example, there are 2 categories of Plotlines. Is it possible to toggle the visibility of Plotlines per one category? I couldn't seem to find anything supporting this.
This is how I've created the Plotlines:
xAxis: {
plotLines: [{
value: Date.UTC(2016, 12, 29), // year, month, day
width: 1,
color: 'blue',
dashStyle: 'ShortDash',
label: {
text: 'Category 1',
},
}, {
value: Date.UTC(2016, 11, 12), // year, month, day
width: 1,
color: 'green',
dashStyle: 'Solid',
label: {
text: 'Category 2',
}]
}
As far as I know, there is no native HC legend for the plot lines. But, you can create your custom legend element on the page and use HC capabilities to show/hide plot lines as in their examples:
http://jsfiddle.net/gh/get/library/pure/highcharts/highcharts/tree/master/samples/highcharts/members/axis-addplotline/
chart.xAxis[0].removePlotLine('plot-line-1');
chart.xAxis[0].addPlotLine({
....
id: 'plot-line-1'
});
As noted in my comment, there is a feature request here:
https://highcharts.uservoice.com/forums/55896-highcharts-javascript-api/suggestions/3009547-plotlines-on-legend
Please add your votes and comments.
Vladimir M provided a good solution to show/hide the plot lines with your own custom legend.
The other common approach is to use a line series as your plotLine, which gives you the benefit of the full series functionality.
Example series:
{
name: 'PlotLine',
type: 'line',
color: 'rgba(204,0,0,1)',
data: [25,25,25,25,25,25,25,25,25,25]
}
Fiddle:
http://jsfiddle.net/jlbriggs/nh65m306/
If you need a vertical plot line, the data set up is slightly more complex but still quite feasible.
{{EDIT to demo vertical plot line:
First, you;d have to set a min/max for you y axis (could be done programmatically on chart load):
yAxis: {
min: 0,
max: 75,
maxPadding: 0
}
Then, you specify your data in [x,y] pairs, with the x values being your plotLine value, and the y values being your Y axis min and max:
data: [[4,0], [4,75]]
Updated fiddle:
http://jsfiddle.net/jlbriggs/nh65m306/1/
With that method, you could add a series per plot line, or, if you want all of them to be the same legend and settings, you can add multiple by inserting null points between your desired lines:
data: [[4,0], [4,75], [5,null], [7,0],[7,75]]
Fiddle:

Is it possible to have 2 yAxis in a highstock chart from highcharts one on the left and another on the right ?
Thanks
A very simple example:
First you have to create your new yAxis and set it's position.
{
title: {
text: 'Other data panel'
},
top: 300,
height: 100,
offset: 0,
lineWidth: 2,
opposite: true
}
Then, when you create your serie you in what yAxis it will be placed.
{
type: 'column',
name: 'Other',
data: otherData,
yAxis: 2,
dataGrouping: {
units: groupingUnits
}
}
You can see it working here.
Is there a way to show the pie chart name on top, bottom, right or left of a pie chart without having to use the labels, like they use in this highcharts demo:
labels: {
items: [{
html: '<b>Total fruit consumption<b>',
style: {
left: '40px',
top: '8px',
color: 'black'
}
}]
}
The labels have an absolute position in pixels, and for the pies I am using percentages.
When there is a resizing, the labels stay on the same place and the pies move, and I can't get the same relative position in percentage for both.
Example pie:
{ data: [{ color: '#31B7C9', name: 'Slice 1', y: 1266364.92333333 }, { color: '#9ED93E', name: 'Slice 2', y: 7284620.73 }, { color: '#DABF12', name: 'Slice 4', y: 2330663.39333333 }], name: 'Pie Chart Name', type: 'pie', center: ["25%", "25%"], showInLegend: true, size: "20%", dataLabels: { enabled: false }}
Any idea how to get the pie chart name to display as its title?
Example in jsFiddle here.
Thank you in advance
EDIT:
So it looks like you want to have the same chart as in the demo and not just a pie chart. If that is the case my answer below fails. You will need to use labels and position them.
----Keeping below code for future reference---
Yes,
Use the title property.
Example here: http://jsfiddle.net/wergeld/svkmM/
title: {
text: 'A Title!'
}
I found a plugin that allows to show the pie chart titles here.
