Datatables Display scrollbar below tfoot tag? - javascript

I use jQuery DataTables plug-in and scrollX:true for horizontal scrolling.
Why scroll bar appears above tfoot tag?
How to make it appear below footer?
<script type="text/javascript">
$(function() {
var table = $('#example1').DataTable({
scrollY: "400px",
scrollX: "400px",
bPaginate: true,
bLengthChange: true,
bFilter: true,
bSort: true,
bInfo: true,
paging: true,
Footer: true,
fixedColumns: {
leftColumns: 3,
rightColumns: 0
}
});
});
</script>

Basically you can achieve this by altering the css rules.
$(document).ready(function(){
$('#example').DataTable({
scrollY: "100%",
scrollX: true,
bPaginate: true,
bLengthChange: true,
bFilter: true,
bSort: true,
bInfo: true,
paging: true,
footer: true,
fixedColumns: {
leftColumns: 3
},
fnInitComplete: function(){
$('.dataTables_scrollBody').css({'overflow': 'hidden','border':'0'});
$('.dataTables_scrollFoot').css('overflow', 'auto');
$('.dataTables_scrollFoot').on('scroll', function () {
$('.dataTables_scrollBody').scrollLeft($(this).scrollLeft());
});
},
drawCallback: function( settings ) {
setTimeout(function(){$('.DTFC_LeftBodyWrapper, .DTFC_LeftBodyLiner').height($('.dataTables_scrollBody').height());},0);
}
});
});
$(window).resize(function(){$('#example').DataTable().draw()});
.DTFC_LeftBodyLiner {
max-height: unset!important;
}
.DTFC_LeftFootWrapper {
top: 0!important;
}

Datatables Multiple Filter is not working after replace with Jquery function

I follow the example here https://datatables.net/examples/api/multi_filter.html
I can repeat this case.
However, I have an issue with this example.
The original code:
$(document).ready(function () {
// Setup - add a text input to each footer cell
$("#example tfoot th").each(function () {
var title = $(this).text();
$(this).html('<input type="text" placeholder="Search ' + title + '" />');
});
// DataTable
var table = $("#example").DataTable({
initComplete: function () {
// Apply the search
this.api()
.columns()
.every(function () {
var that = this;
$("input", this.footer()).on("keyup change clear", function () {
if (that.search() !== this.value) {
that.search(this.value).draw();
}
});
});
},
});
});

May I know why after I change the codes and the footer filter function is not working anymore?
It turns out The selector I am using is not specific enough.
I replace the footer ins js with codes below:
const index = this.index();
const footer = $("#example").find("tfoot th:eq(" + index + ")");
Example below
$(document).ready(function () {
// Setup - add a text input to each footer cell
$("#example tfoot th").each(function () {
var title = $(this).text();
$(this).html('<input type="text" placeholder="Search ' + title + '" />');
});
// DataTable

initComplete: function () {
// Apply the search
this.api()
.columns()
.every(function () {
var that = this;
const index = this.index();
const footer = $("#example").find("tfoot th:eq(" + index + ")");
$("input", footer).on("keyup change clear", function () {
if (that.search() !== this.value) {
that.search(this.value).draw();
}
});
});
},

Datatable, table overlapped when using fixed column

Base on the code I use below, my table is messed up when using fixed column. It seems that my table is overlapped at the first 3 left column. I suspect that scrollX is making the problem because the table looks perfectly fine without it.
Any ideas why this happen and how to solve it?
$('#example').DataTable( {
scrollY: "300px",
scrollX: true,
scrollCollapse: true,
paging: false,

} );

You should read dataTable documentation properly and include all css & js external script in your code
Your problem is missing some external script
Here is the working solution
$(document).ready(function() {
var table = $('#example').DataTable( {
scrollY: "300px",
scrollX: true,
scrollCollapse: true,
paging: false,
fixedColumns: {
leftColumns: 2
}
} );
} );
/* Ensure that the demo table scrolls */
th, td { white-space: nowrap; }
div.dataTables_wrapper {
width: 800px;
margin: 0 auto;
}

Include
dataTables.min.css
fixedColumns.dataTables.min.css
jquery.min.js
jquery.dataTables.min.js

I have fixed by removing table-checkable class

Expand/collapse row grouping by main row?

I use datatables plugin to grouping row and want to collapse/expand sub-rows when clicking to the main row.
Example on Jsfiddle and picture:
Jsfiddle example
How it looks like
and when click on main row then all rows between this and next main row should collapse.
When I was searching some informantion about this, I found good example, but it's not work properly with datatables js plugin
CodepenExemple

A simplified solution can be based on .nextUntil():
$(target.parentNode).nextUntil(':not([role=row])').slideToggle()
var groupColumn = 2;
var table = $('#example').DataTable({
"columnDefs": [{
"visible": false,
"targets": groupColumn
}],
"order": [
[groupColumn, 'asc']
],
"displayLength": 25,
"drawCallback": function(settings) {
var api = this.api();
var rows = api.rows({
page: 'current'
}).nodes();

A simple way for achieving that is:
let $next = $(target).parent().next();
while ($next.length && $next.is('[role=row]')) {
$next.slideToggle();
$next = $next.next();
};
Demo
the same but with more agility (pure javavascript)
$('#tableEquipos tbody').on('click', function({target}) {
if (target.parentNode.className !== 'group') return;
var startElement = target.parentNode.nextSibling
while(startElement && startElement.getAttribute('role') === 'row'){
startElement.style.display = !startElement.style.display ? 'none' : ''
startElement = startElement.nextSibling
}
});

Datatable instant search textbox not showing

Search box missing on datatable, i used version 1.9.4 (datatable version).Here is my javascript code :
$(function() {
$('#search_result_table').dataTable({
"bPaginate": true,
"bLengthChange": false,
"bFilter": true,
"bSort": true,
"bInfo": true,
"bAutoWidth": false
});
});
Now I want to display the instant search text box.
There is nothing wrong with your code, its working, there might be some other problem.
Searchbox is in default configuration of DataTable you don't need to write any code for that.
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#example').dataTable({
"bPaginate": true,
"bLengthChange": false,
"bFilter": true,
"bSort": true,
"bInfo": true,
"bAutoWidth": false
});
} );

DataTable 1.10.10 Export to Excel downloading zip file

I am using jquery Datatable plugin for Export To Excel. But on clicking to Export button, an zip folder will be downloaded rather than .xlsx file. Please help me to resolve the issue. Below is my Code:

dom : 'Bfrtip',
buttons : [ 'copy', 'csv', 'pdf', 'print',{
extend: 'excelHtml5',
text: 'Export To Excel',
title:'dataTable',
extension:'.xlsx'

Are you getting any console errors? If so, you should add them into your question so we can see what is going on better.
Here is a working fiddle using your javascript and table markup, minus the title and extension button options, and using "excel" as the extend option for flash fallback. Be careful to include all the correct javascript and css cdns as described in this example:
https://datatables.net/extensions/buttons/examples/html5/simple.html
