I want to load content to a result div that is located inside a modal-body after form is submitted and after modal is shown but i can't figure out the problem. when i want to load content to a result div outside modal it works, but when i use the result div inside a modal it doesn't.
this is my code so far:
html:
<div class="col-lg-12">
<div class="row">
<div id="form-content">
<form method="post" id="reg-form" autocomplete="off" action="<?php echo htmlspecialchars($_SERVER["PHP_SELF"]);?>">
<div id="monetarylayout" class="form-group">
<input class="form-control number" type="text" value="0" name="subjectvalue" id="txt_subjectvalue">
</div>
<div class="form-group">
<button class="btn btn-primary">submit</button>
</div>
<input class="form-control number" type="text" value="0" name="coinquantity" id="txt_coinquantity" style="display:none"> <!--just to make the form post work-->
</form>
</div>
<!-- Modal -->
<div id="myModal" class="modal fade" role="dialog">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<!-- Modal content-->
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal">×</button>
<h4 class="modal-title">Modal Header</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<p>Some text in the modal.</p>
<div id="result"></div>
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default" data-dismiss="modal">Close</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
jquery:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
// submit form using $.ajax() method
$('#reg-form').submit(function(e){
e.preventDefault(); // Prevent Default Submission
$.ajax({
url: 'testcontroller.php',
type: 'POST',
data: $(this).serialize() // it will serialize the form data
})
.done(function(data){
$('#myModal').modal(), function() {
// do something when the modal is shown
$('#result').fadeIn('slow').html(data);
}
})
.fail(function(){
alert('Ajax Submit Failed ...');
});
});
});
</script>
i figured out myself. i should have added these attributes to my form button:
<button class="btn btn-primary" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#myModal">submit</button>
and edited this function as follows:
.done(function (data) {
$('#result').fadeIn('slow').html(data);
})

I have a form with four <input type='submit'/> buttons and action='updateEstado.php'. Also, I have some jQuery code that launches when I click a button.
<!-- CHANGE STATUS MODAL MENU -->

<div class="row">
<h5 id='codigosSeleccionados'></h5>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</form>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<script>
$('#cambiarestado').click(function(){
event.preventDefault();
// Get the value of the input fields
var inputvalue = $(this).attr("value");
// Send Ajax request to updateEstado.php, with value set as 'input' in the POST data
$.post("updateEstado.php", {estado: "DESACTIVAT", codigo: "38"});
alert(inputvalue);
});
</script>
I have updated the jquery code with this new line: event.preventDefault();
Now when I launch the updateEstado.php the console show this message:
If I delete this line: $.post("updateEstado2.php", {estado: "DESACTIVAT", codigo: "38"});
The show message disappear. It's clear this is the problem. The solution¿? I do not...
The submit button submits the form if it isn't blocked. You can block it with preventDefault().
for example:
$('#cambiarestado').click(function(event){
event.preventDefault();
...rest of your code ...
If you really want to submit the form via JavaScript, instead of the standard HTML form submit, you have to do several things:
add an onsubmit function to the form
use event.preventDefault() to cancel the normal form submit
get the values from the form
do a manual form submit via jQuery
BUT I think you want to do something far more trivial:
Submit two values, regardless of which option the user clicks.
The easiest way to archieve this, is to use hidden inputs:
<input type="hidden" name="estado" value="DESACTIVAT">
<input type="hidden" name="codigo" value="38">
If button type is submit, when you click in the button form will be submited to updateEstado.php without the values of $.post. You can submit the form with JQuery and send the data:
<form id="form" >
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-12 text center">
<input type="submit" id="cambiarestado" class="btn btn-modal-estado" style="background-color:Gray; color:white;" value="DESACTIVAT">
</div>
</div>
</form>
Function:
$('#form').on('submit', function(e){
$.post("updateEstado.php", {estado: "DESACTIVAT", codigo: "38"});
});
Or, if you want to get the values of button:
<form id="form" >
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-12 text center">
<input type="button" id="cambiarestado" class="btn btn-modal-estado" style="background-color:Gray; color:white;" value="DESACTIVAT">
</div>
</div>
</form>
Note type is button, and this way form is not submited.
$('button').click(function(){
var inputvalue = $(this).attr("value");
$.post("updateEstado.php", {estado: inputvalue, codigo: "38"});
});
This question have many answers out there but none of those answers solved my problem. I have a modal with some <select> tags. I am trying to save the values from the select options. after they click Save the modal should close but not submit the result yet because the user still need to review stuff after they click save on the modal.
HTML
<!-- Modal -->
<div id="1" class="modal fade" role="dialog">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<!-- Modal content-->
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal">× </button>
<h4 class="modal-title">Modal Header</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
//select tags go here
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default" data-dismiss="modal">Close</button>
<button id="save" onclick="save()" class="btn btn-width bkgrnd-cyan save-details" type="button" name="save-details">Save</button>
</div>
</div>
JS
$('#save').click(function() {
$('#1').modal('hide');
});
Since my code is really long, I just copied a modal from google but I added my Save button, so this is the real Save button that my modal is using.
Thanks
EDIT
I changed the id number to letters so now the code doesn't include any id starting with number, thanks.
PS still need help =/
EDIT
I also tried this one and it did not work
$(document).ready(function(){
$('#save').click(function(){
$('#modal_1').modal('hide');//modal_1 is the id 1
});
});
HTML
<div id="someModalId" class="modal fade" role="dialog">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<!-- Modal content-->
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal">× </button>
<h4 class="modal-title">Modal Header</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<select id="exampleSelect">
</select>
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default" data-dismiss="modal">Close</button>
<button id="save" onclick="save()" class="btn btn-width bkgrnd-cyan save-details" type="button" name="save-details">Save</button>
</div>
</div>
JS
$('#save').click(function() {
$select_value = $("#exampleSelect").value();
$('#someModalId').modal('hide');
});
Give your select a name or id
Set the value of select to a global variable. Make sure to declare the variable at the top if you are getting an error.
I'm not sure the id=1 is fine, but you can use this code to simulate a click on the close button (or you can add an id or a class to it).
You may have to remove the onclick="save()"
data = {};
$("#save").on("click", function(e){
e.preventDefault(); // prevent de default action, which is to submit
// save your value where you want
data.select = $("#exampleSelect").value();
// or call the save function here
// save();
$(this).prev().click();
});
<button id="save" class="btn btn-width bkgrnd-cyan save-details" type="button" name="save-details" onclick="save()" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#myModalList" data-dismiss="modal">Save</button>
this worked very well for me, and its a simple way to do it. after the onclick I used the data-toggle, data-target and data-dismiss
in the js function save() I didn't need to code anything but to save data into to my database
// Insere notas na base de dados
function save() {
console.log("func guardar");
if ($("#message-text").val() == "") {
alert("Texto vazio");
} else {
$(document).ready(function () {
$.ajax({
method: "POST",
url: "../portal/portalphp/notas.php",
data: {
num: num,
text: $("#message-text").val()
}
}).done(function (msg) {
if (msg == 1) {
//alert("Nota guardada com sucesso");
readyNotas(num);
console.log("func guardar done == 1");
} else {
alert("Erro: não foi possivel guardar");
}
});
texto.value = "";
});
console.log("func guardar ready");
}
}
First, you need to remove onclick="save()" from your button. You don't need that when you are using the on click function directly $('#save').click(function()...
As was pointed out in the comments by #Eshwaren, you can't use a number to start an id, so you need fix that as well.
To get the value from a select, you have to be able to identify it. A simple solution would be to give your select element an ID.
For example:
<div class="modal-body">
<select id="data_1">
</select>
</div>
In your code, you can then assign the value of the select element to a variable.
For example:
var data_1;
$('#save').click(function() {
data_1 = $("#data_1").value();
$('#modalid').modal('hide');
});
You can then use that variable elsewhere in your code.
There are many more possibilities for solving this, but the root of the issue is being able to identify the select elements in code and recording their respective values.
thats my modal window
$(function () {
$("#dialog").dialog({
modal: true,
autoOpen: false,
title: "Column Preferences",
button: "save",
width: 750,
height: 620
});
try this to close or hide the window
$('#dialog').dialog('close');
I finally got this working with a hint from Ricardo Almeida:
<%=form_with id: :friend_email_form, url: friend_emails_create_path do |f|%>
# form fields entered here
<div class="actions">
<%= f.submit "Send Email", class: 'btn btn-primary', "onclick":"submit_form();", "data-dismiss":"modal"%>
</div>
<script>
function submit_form() {
document.getElementById('friend_email_form').submit();
}
</script>
just add 'data-dismiss="modal"' when click save
example:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">

I have the following lines of code in my website - CodePen.
What I am trying to do, is make it so that the user must fill in the form first, before downloading an item:
<div class="container">
<!-- Trigger the modal with a button -->
Download Item #1
Download Item #2
<!-- Modal -->
<div class="modal fade" id="myModal" role="dialog">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<!-- Modal content-->
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal">×</button>
<h4 class="modal-title">Modal Header</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<form role="form">
<div class="form-group">
<label for="email">Email address:</label>
<input type="email" class="form-control" id="email">
</div>
<div class="form-group">
<label for="pwd">Password:</label>
<input type="password" class="form-control" id="pwd">
</div>
<div class="checkbox">
<label>
<input type="checkbox"> Remember me</label>
</div>
<button type="submit" class="btn btn-default">Submit</button>
</form>
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default" data-dismiss="modal">Close</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
How can I make it so that when the user selects the first or second button on the page, it will send this information to the submit button?
You could store the link in a variable. Then, when the button is clicked, check if the fields are empty (and apply any validation rules). If not empty, apply the submit to the form.
$link = 'example.com/download.pdf';
$('.button').click(function(){
// CHECK THE FIELDS ARE NOT EMPTY
// APPLY YOUR OWN VALIDATION
if($field1 = $('.field1').val() != '' && $('.field2').val() != ''){
// DO WHAT YOU NEED TO DO WITH THE LINK
$('form').submit();
}
})
On a side note, it's possible that you were down-voted (not by myself) for not providing us with your attempts to solve your own problem. You provided us with your html but not any of your tested logic.
You add a click handler to your button in JavaScript :
var fieldsAreReadyToBeSent = function() {
// Validation code goes here
// return true if valid & false if invalid
};
document.querySelector("[type=submit]").addEventListener("click", function() {
if(!fieldsAreReadyToBeSent()) {
event.preventDefault();
}
});
The method event.preventDefault() prevents your your form from being submitted if it is considered invalid!
A demo :
var fieldsAreReadyToBeSent = function() {
return false; // FOR THIS DEMO, ALWAYS RETURN FALSE
};
document.querySelector("[type=submit]").addEventListener("click", function() {
if(!fieldsAreReadyToBeSent()) { // FOR THIS DEMO, THIS IS ALWAYS TRUE
event.preventDefault();
}
});
<div class="container">
<!-- Trigger the modal with a button -->
Download Item #1
Download Item #2
<!-- Modal -->
<div class="modal fade" id="myModal" role="dialog">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<!-- Modal content-->
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal">×</button>
<h4 class="modal-title">Modal Header</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<form role="form">
<div class="form-group">
<label for="email">Email address:</label>
<input type="email" class="form-control" id="email">
</div>
<div class="form-group">
<label for="pwd">Password:</label>
<input type="password" class="form-control" id="pwd">
</div>
<div class="checkbox">
<label>
<input type="checkbox"> Remember me</label>
</div>
<button type="submit" class="btn btn-default">Submit</button>
</form>
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default" data-dismiss="modal">Close</button>
</div>

I never used jquery before and tried hard to find a solution for my case.
On the cockpit.php page I use a form to get some content from a mysql database. Meanwhile I am able to show this content in a div on the cockpit.php page.
The plan is to show the content in a modal. There the user has 10 seconds to confirm it (in this case it should be stored to the database).
The problem: I tried it for hours and days to get the content into the modal. No chance... Any idea on how to solve this? Btw: At the moment I reload the window after the countdown reaches zero. Here it would also be an idea to just close to modal via jquery.
So I would really appreciate some hints. Thx.
Final Solution:
modal.js
$(function(){
$("#pricing").submit(function() {
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: $(this).attr('action'),
data: $(this).serialize(),
dataType: 'json',
success: function(data)
{
$('#myModal').find('#a').text(data.a);
$('#myModal').find('#b').text(data.b);
$('#myModal').find('#c').text(data.c);
$('#myModal').find('#d').text(data.d);
$('#myModal').find('#e').text(data.e);
$('#myModal').find('#f').text(data.f);
$('#a2').val($(this).data('a'));
$('#myModal').modal('show');
}
});
return false;
});
});
$("#confirm").click(function(){
var data = {
a: $('#a').text(),
b: $('#b').text(),
c: $('#c').text()
};
$.ajax({
url: 'confirm.php',
type: "POST",
data: data,
dataType: 'json',
success: function(confirm) {
window.location.reload();
}
});
});
relevant HTML-part of the Modal for click-function:
<div class="alert hidden" role="alert" id="modalAlert"></div>
<input type="hidden" id="confirmmodal" name="confirmmodal" value="" />
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-ar btn-default" data-dismiss="modal">Cancel</button>
<button type="button" class="btn btn-ar btn-primary" id="confirm">Confirm</button>
</div>
confirm.php
<?php
$a = $_POST['a'];
// do what you want
$confirm = array('message' => $a);
echo json_encode($confirm);
So the functionality works fine...
I made a full example for you, I use it on my website. This is a html file with a link and a modal, the required JQuery and a simple php code to simulate the server response. It shows you, how you can pass data to the modal, how to show the modal and display the server response.
Just copy the files into the same directory and test it, it works for me.

UPDATE BASED ON YOUR COMMENT
I created another version that will take data from the form on the html page, pass it to php and then display the results from php on the modal window. It uses a different javascript, because now we are "post"-ing the form data to php. Here are the files:
index.html
<html>
<head>
<script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.2/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script src="/script.js"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.2/css/bootstrap.min.css">

<body>
<div class="container">
<div class="modal fade" id="myModal" tabindex="-1" role="dialog" aria-labelledby="myModal" aria-hidden="true">
<div class="modal-dialog ">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-label="Close"><span aria-hidden="true">×</span></button>
<h4 class="modal-title" id="myModalTitle"></h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<div class="alert hidden" role="alert" id="modalAlert"></div>

$("#myForm").submit(function(event) {

url: $(this).attr('action'),
data: $(this).serialize(),
dataType: 'json',

<?php

My bootstrap modal component submit button calls server and retrieves the data. Now I need to show the data into another modal component.
My code:
index.html
calling code for firstmodal:
Edit Button Employee
<div id="myEditModal" class="modal fade" tabindex="-1" role="dialog" aria-labelledby="myEditModal" data-dismiss="modal">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<div class="modal-body">
<form class="form-horizontal" role="form">
<br/><br/>
<div class="control-group">
<label class="control-label" for="value">Employee Id:</label>
<div class="controls">
{{input type="text" class="input-medium" value=id }}
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default" data-dismiss="modal">Cancel</button>
<button type="button" class="btn btn-primary" {{action "editIdAction" target="controller" }}>Save</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
in app.js:
editIdAction: function () {
var id = this.get('id');
var controller = this;
data = $.ajax({
type: "POST",
dataType: "json",
url: "/editid?id=" + id,
async: false}).responseJSON;
console.log(data)
controller.set("id", "");
this.transitionToRoute('editprofile', data)
}
Now how can I forward route to modal.
And I create another modal with id = editprofile, but it is not working. the modal is not popup.
I search in google and I found modal to modal interaction.
But I didn't find response modal to modal.
Could someone help?
