I have written a basic Hello World application using jQuery in an HTML page in eclipse.
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="ISO-8859-1">
<title>Insert title here</title>
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-3.3.1.min.js" ></script>
<script type="text/javascript" >
window.onload = function (){
alert("Window loaded");
}
$(document).ready(function(){
alert("DOM loaded");
})
</script>
</head>
<body>
<p>Hello </p>
</body>
</html>`
I have used JRE 8 in eclipse. Upon running it on Chrome, "Window loaded" alert box displays first and then "DOM loaded". Ideally it should be opposite. DOM should load first.
DOM loads first if refernece jQuery library from google APIs.
Could anybody help me on this? The question is not about the comparison between the two.

Got a puzzle for you guys. I'm attempting to extract text from a ServiceNow incident_list.do page using document.documentElement.innerHTML . However, only the following is returned:
<head>
<title></title>
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">
<script type="text/javascript" async="" src="https://ssl.google-analytics.com/ga.js"></script><script type="text/javascript" src="js/browser-polyfill.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-1.7.2.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/back.js"> </script>
</head>
<body>
</body>
This is clearly wrong. Not only do I see content on the page, but "view source" shows something completely different (also populated with content). How do I force Javascript to spit out the CURRENT page source, as it's seen on the page in an active window?
I want to access variable from iframe without editing iframeContent.html page. I don't know why alert window still shows 'undefined'
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title></title>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
<script type="text/javascript">
var iframe0=0;
var iframe0document=0;
var inputIframe=0;
function getIframeText() {
var iframe0 = document.getElementById("iframe123");
var iframe0document=iframe0.contentDocument||iframe0.contentWindow.document;
var inputIframe = iframe0document.getElementById("wynik2");
alert(inputIframe.value);
};
</script>
</head>
<body>
<div>
<button onclick="getIframeText()">get iframe text</button>
<iframe id="iframe123" src="iframeContent.html" >
</div>
</body>
</html>
iframeContent.html:
<html>
<head>
<title>IFrame Child Example</title>
<script type="text/javascript">
var asd="12";
</script>
</head>
<body>
<div id="wynik2"></div>
<script type="text/javascript">
document.getElementById("wynik2").innerHTML=asd;
</script>
</body>
</html>
Frame on parent page looks good (shows number 12). I'm testing my page on Chrome but through command window typing 'allow file access from files'. So this isn't problem. Global variables are also set (am I doing it right?) so I don't know why is still udefined.
use inputIframe.innerText instead of inputIframe.value . "wynik2" is a div, right? cheers! :)
I have added jQuery Library 2.1 as javascriptResource in the project. As shown in the picture.
In the index.html, the autocomplete for ready works but, ready function is not called.
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="UTF-8">
<title>Insert title here</title>
<script type="text/javascript" src="main.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function(){
alert("Hello");
});
</script>
</head>
<body>
What could I be missing?
Having it available under JavaScript Resources makes it known to the tools, and available for Content Assist at edit-time. It doesn't change the behavior at runtime in the browser--something still has to reference the jQuery file from your web page, like a script tag.
Try to include the jquery script. Example:
<head>
<script src="jquery-1.11.2.min.js"></script>
</head>
Source : http://www.w3schools.com/jquery/jquery_get_started.asp
Hope it helps.
Im a jquery starter so if its a wrong one forgive me :)
I just want to know why placing the content at different positions made this script working, although to my best i think script to kept in head section of the document. Please explain the concept.
Working Code
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<title>Example 2</title>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<p>
</p>
<script type="text/javascript">
jQuery("p").html("Check if jQuery Supports Ajax method : "+ jQuery.support.ajax );
</script>
</body>
</html>
Not Working
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<title>Example 2</title>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
jQuery("p").html("Check if jQuery Supports Ajax method : "+ jQuery.support.ajax );
</script>
</head>
<body>
<p>
</p>
</body>
</html>
In the second instance the code is executed before the <p> has been parsed into the DOM tree, so while it still works there's nowhere to put the output text into. In other words, jQuery("p") matches no element so .html() "does nothing".
You can fix this by either waiting for the DOM to be fully parsed:
jQuery(function() {
jQuery("p").html(...);
});
or by using an output mechanism that does not depend on the <p> existing, such as alert() or console.log().
Well, it seems that your browser firstly load <head> section thus in second example there is no p element then.
In both cases you should wrap your code in $(function(){ ... }).
If you place your script before the <body> element, it is executed before the DOM tree is loaded/parsed. The <p> element does therefore not exist and cannot be found. You can:
Place the script after the <body> tag (like in your first example)
or you can call your function after the ready event has been fired:
$(document).ready(function() {
jQuery("p").html("Check if jQuery Supports Ajax method : "+ jQuery.support.ajax );
});
I write some html and js to a iframe,not working in IE7/8/9,the error message is:$ is not defined?
My code is:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>Demo</title>
<meta charset="utf-8" />
<script type="text/javascript">
window.onload=function(){
var data='<html>\
<head>\
<meta charset="utf-8">\
<title>Demo</title>\
<script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"><\/script>\
<script type="text/javascript">\
$(function(){\
alert("abc");\
});\
<\/script>\
<\/head>\
<body>\
</body>\
</html>';
window.frames["code_result"].document.open();
window.frames["code_result"].document.write(data);
window.frames["code_result"].document.close();
}
</script>
</head>
<body>
<iframe id="code_result" frameborder="0" class="frame_result" name="code_result"></iframe>
</body>
</html>
who can tell me why?thanks
update
this error only show in IE78/9,it work well in Chrome and FireFox
It's not the code loading the I frame content. It's ie's loading order. Simply wrap your I frame script in a window onload function so it allows jquery to load first. Tested and working in ie.
Add:
$(document).ready({
alert('123');
});
You will need it load jquery in the I frame before running code. JQuery hasn't loaded yet.
