I want to fetch data when onclick is invoked. I have four div in my form and I want only a particular div to be reloaded and fetch data. while loading it should not discard the form data. Anyone help. Thanks in advance for people who are going to help me in this.
my code looks something like this
<div id="fetch">
<?php
//query to fetch data
?>
</div>
<div id="data4">
//dynamic data
//Want to retain this data even after fetch
</div>
In this case you should use AJAX.
Onclick you can send a xmlhttprequest (JS) to a separate php file, which returns the data you need (for example as string / JSON), and insert it into your website with JS.
Example:
function test()
{
xhr = new XMLHttpRequest();
xhr.onreadystatechange = function()
{
if(xhr.readyState==4 && xhr.status==200)
{
result = xhr.responseText;
document.getElementById("test_field").innerHTML = result;
}
}
xhr.open("GET","your_ajax_file.php",true);
xhr.send();
}
your_ajax_file.php returns the data you want to insert.
You mentioned you have a problem with function call, but you did not give more information. so i will give you an example how to write an ajax request, then you can maybe give me more detailed info on where your problem is.
$.ajax({
url: 'ajax_file.php',
type: 'post',
data: {var1: 'value1', var2: 'value2'},
success: function( data ){
console.log('ajax request successful! data: '+data);
},
error: function( jqXhr, textStatus, errorThrown ){
console.log( errorThrown );
}
});
And in your ajax_file.php do something like this:
<?php
$var1 = $_POST['var1'];
$var2 = $_POST['var2'];
echo $var1.', '$var2;
edit: typo, changed val2 to var2 in ajax request
This code will send request to post parameters to php file:
var param = //some parameters;
var url = file.php;
xhttp.open("POST", url, true);
xhttp.setRequestHeader('Content-Type', 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded');
xhttp.send(params);
I got the response but the php file produce some output like <td><tr>.....
How to get this result of php in some div of my html?
Thanks,
You use onreadystatechange to get the response:
xhttp.onreadystatechange = function() {
if (xhttp.readyState == 4 && xhttp.status == 200) {
$('#mydiv').html(xhttp.responseText);
}
};
XHR is pretty complicated without using a Framework. Just use jQuery it will make this 1000x easier.
$.ajax({
url: "myfile.php",
type: "POST",
data: {
/* Params */
},
success: function(response){
/* Use your response here */
}
});
http://api.jquery.com/jquery.ajax/
Ajax code
$("#login_btn").click(function() {
var url = "core/login.php";
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: url,
data: $("#sr").serialize(),
success: function(data) {
var responseData = jQuery.parseJSON(data);
$('.oops').html('<div class="error">'+responseData.oops+'</div>');
alert(responseData.good);
if(responseData.good === 1) {
alert(good)
location.reload();
}
}
});
});
Php code if everything passes
else {
$_SESSION['id'] = $login;
$good = 1;
exit();
}
How come it's not freshing the page with location.reload? Should I be using .done .try?
Dont refresh, the whole idea of using ajax is that you dont need to.
You can set your sessions in the ajax php script and pull new content based on the change in session.
That being said, you are missing a ';' at
alert(good);
I want to send http request for fetching finance.yahoo stock data with url like : http://finance.yahoo.com/d/quotes.csv?s=GAIL.NS+BPCL.NS+%5ENSEI&f=snl1hgp which returns a csv file. I want to read the response data and fill it in a listview using Javascript or JQuery mobile. None of the links I referred helped me.
I tried using the following code:
$.ajax({
type: "GET",
url: "http://finance.yahoo.com/d/quotes.csv",
data: "s=GAIL.NS+BPCL.NS+%5ENSEI&f=snl1hgp",
dataType: "text/csv",
success: function(data) {
alert(JSON.stringify('data is :' + data));
}
});
I get blank data as alert.
Any sample code or useful link would be appreciated.
I think that the problem is the request is cross domain. There is another question about this here:
Cross-Domain get CSV file
and another answer here :Yahoo JSONP Ajax Request Wrapped in callback function
and a working example here: Displaying ajax results from yahoo finance using underscore.js
Here is a working jsfiddle which makes a jsonp request to d.yimg.com to get the data http://jsfiddle.net/gp6zL/
YAHOO.Finance.SymbolSuggest.ssCallback = function (data) {
alert(JSON.stringify(data));
};
var query;
query = 'Google';
if (query.length > 0) {
$.ajax({
type: "GET",
url: "http://d.yimg.com/autoc.finance.yahoo.com/autoc",
data: {
query: query
},
dataType: "jsonp",
jsonp: "callback",
jsonpCallback: "YAHOO.Finance.SymbolSuggest.ssCallback",
});
}
I try to take jQuery out of the equation. The following code will work as long as you whitelist "finance.yahoo.com".
var request = new XMLHttpRequest();
request.open("GET", "http://finance.yahoo.com/d/quotes.csv?s=GAIL.NS+BPCL.NS+%5ENSEI&f=snl1hgp", true);
request.onreadystatechange = function() {//Call a function when the state changes.
if (request.readyState == 4) {
if (request.status == 200 || request.status == 0) {
console.log(request.responseText);
}
}
}
request.send();
I have sample code like this:
<div class="cart">
<a onclick="addToCart('#Model.productId');" class="button"><span>Add to Cart</span></a>
</div>
<div class="wishlist">
<a onclick="addToWishList('#Model.productId');">Add to Wish List</a>
</div>
<div class="compare">
<a onclick="addToCompare('#Model.productId');">Add to Compare</a>
</div>
How can I write JavaScript code to call the controller action method?
Use jQuery ajax:
function AddToCart(id)
{
$.ajax({
url: 'urlToController',
data: { id: id }
}).done(function() {
alert('Added');
});
}
http://api.jquery.com/jQuery.ajax/
Simply call your Action Method by using Javascript as shown below:
var id = model.Id; //if you want to pass an Id parameter
window.location.href = '#Url.Action("Action", "Controller")/' + id;
You are calling the addToCart method and passing the product id. Now you may use jQuery ajax to pass that data to your server side action method.d
jQuery post is the short version of jQuery ajax.
function addToCart(id)
{
$.post('#Url.Action("Add","Cart")',{id:id } function(data) {
//do whatever with the result.
});
}
If you want more options like success callbacks and error handling, use jQuery ajax,
function addToCart(id)
{
$.ajax({
url: '#Url.Action("Add","Cart")',
data: { id: id },
success: function(data){
//call is successfully completed and we got result in data
},
error:function (xhr, ajaxOptions, thrownError){
//some errror, some show err msg to user and log the error
alert(xhr.responseText);
}
});
}
When making ajax calls, I strongly recommend using the Html helper method such as Url.Action to generate the path to your action methods.
This will work if your code is in a razor view because Url.Action will be executed by razor at server side and that c# expression will be replaced with the correct relative path. But if you are using your jQuery code in your external js file, You may consider the approach mentioned in this answer.
If you do not need much customization and seek for simpleness, you can do it with built-in way - AjaxExtensions.ActionLink method.
<div class="cart">
#Ajax.ActionLink("Add To Cart", "AddToCart", new { productId = Model.productId }, new AjaxOptions() { HttpMethod = "Post" });
</div>
That MSDN link is must-read for all the possible overloads of this method and parameters of AjaxOptions class. Actually, you can use confirmation, change http method, set OnSuccess and OnFailure clients scripts and so on
If you want to call an action from your JavaScript, one way is to embed your JavaScript code, inside your view (.cshtml file for example), and then, use Razor, to create a URL of that action:
$(function(){
$('#sampleDiv').click(function(){
/*
While this code is JavaScript, but because it's embedded inside
a cshtml file, we can use Razor, and create the URL of the action
Don't forget to add '' around the url because it has to become a
valid string in the final webpage
*/
var url = '#Url.Action("ActionName", "Controller")';
});
});
Javascript Function
function AddToCart(id) {
$.ajax({
url: '#Url.Action("AddToCart", "ControllerName")',
type: 'GET',
dataType: 'json',
cache: false,
data: { 'id': id },
success: function (results) {
alert(results)
},
error: function () {
alert('Error occured');
}
});
}
Controller Method to call
[HttpGet]
public JsonResult AddToCart(string id)
{
string newId = id;
return Json(newId, JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet);
}
You can simply add this when you are using same controller to redirect
var url = "YourActionName?parameterName=" + parameterValue;
window.location.href = url;
You can set up your element with
value="#model.productId"
and
onclick= addToWishList(this.value);
I am using this way, and worked perfectly:
//call controller funcntion from js
function insertDB(username,phone,email,code,filename) {
var formdata = new FormData(); //FormData object
//Iterating through each files selected in fileInput
formdata.append("username", username);
formdata.append("phone", phone);
formdata.append("email", email);
formdata.append("code", code);
formdata.append("filename", filename);
//Creating an XMLHttpRequest and sending
var xhr = new XMLHttpRequest();
xhr.open('POST', '/Home/InsertToDB');//controller/action
xhr.send(formdata);
xhr.onreadystatechange = function () {
if (xhr.readyState == 4 && xhr.status == 200) {
//if success
}
}
}
in Controller:
public void InsertToDB(string username, string phone, string email, string code, string filename)
{
//this.resumeRepository.Entity.Create(
// new Resume
// {
// }
// );
var resume_results = Request.Form.Keys;
resume_results.Add("");
}
you can find the keys (Request.Form.Keys), or use it directly from parameters.
You can easily make a <a> link in your view.
<a hidden asp-controller="Home" asp-action="Privacy" id="link"></a>
then in you javascript code use this:
location.href = document.getElementById('link').href;
