I'm trying to get a modal to show on my bootstrap site, and when I click the button to trigger it the screen turns dark, but nothing shows up.
<!-- Button trigger modal -->
<button type="button" class="btn btn-primary" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#exampleModal">

<div class="modal fade" id="exampleModal" tabindex="-1" role="dialog" aria-labelledby="exampleModalLabel" aria-hidden="true">
<div class="modal-dialog" role="document">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<h5 class="modal-title" id="exampleModalLabel">Modal title</h5>
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-label="Close">
<span aria-hidden="true">×</span>
</button>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">

</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-secondary" data-dismiss="modal">Close</button>
<button type="button" class="btn btn-primary">Save changes</button>

This is the javascript I'm using as well, in addition to JQuery, popper.js, bootstrap js
$('#myModal').on('shown.bs.modal', function() {
$('#myInput').trigger('focus')
})
I literally took this right off the bootstrap site and for some reason it's not working.
$('#myModal').on('shown.bs.modal', function() {
$('#myInput').trigger('focus')
})

The code snippet for the modal is perfectly fine, Check the parent div for both trigger and the modal and raise their z-index, It very likely that the Z-Index of the parent element is interfering with the modal pop up. You can try this`
.parentElementOfModal{
z-index:10000;
}

Bootstrap 4: by open the first modal, the focus is a trap inside it (you can move the focus with tab key and you will never focus element outside the modal). When you open the second modal the focus is a trap inside it and again you can't focus outside element (this is right).
When you close the second modal the focus will back to the first modal (this is right) but the problem is that if you move the focus with tab key then the focus will go out (after the last focusable modal1 element) from the first modal so it is not trapped anymore in the first modal. Is there is any solution to solve the problem with bootstrap 4?
you can test it in jsfiddle (firefox browser):

Bootstrap does not handle these kinds of scenario it seems, you can handle the event as it is below to get the required tab-index with in the model
$('#exampleModal2').on('show.bs.modal', function () {
$('#exampleModal').modal("hide");
})
$('#exampleModal2').on('hide.bs.modal', function () {
$('#exampleModal').modal("show");
})
#exampleModal2 {
z-index: 1600;
}

I have an Angular App and a custom Modal Dialog implementation. How can I limit the 'tabbablity' of the page so that i can just tab through the Modal, and not everything else in background?
I have set aria-hidden="true" for all other elements directly under the body tag, and thought that has to handle that, but no success. tabindex="-1" also did not work..
Actually I want the exact tab-behaviour of this bootstrap modal:
https://getbootstrap.com/docs/4.0/components/modal/
Click: "launch demo modal" and tab through the modal elements..
How can I achieve this?
Edit: I look at the bootstrap modal, and they do not set anything to other elements, but just to the modal container div (with class="modal fade show") tabindex="-1". And after the last element in modal, tab sets focus to this modal container div. After that the focus is set again to the first modal element. In my case tabindex="-1" strangely does not bring anything, after the last element focus jumps to the Browser's URL Input field and goes on.
I dont know what code you have...but this tabindex behavior works well with bootstarp example.
.modal-backdrop {
background-color: transparent !important;

I've been trying to implement a Bootstrap Modal for quite some time now. I've followed the instructions in the bootstrap documentation but I still can't get it right. Why doesn't this work jsfiddle

To run bootstrap you need to use jquery. Updated on below code and
jsfiddle

Break long word with CSS

Because it's all one word, it's a rare case that you have a word that long without any spaces in between.
Put any normal words with spaces would break to the next line and won't flow.
Or add word-break: break-all; CSS rule to your modal body.
.modal-body{
word-break: break-all;
}

Adding word-wrap: break-word to your .modal-body class will fix this.
.modal-body{
word-break: break-all;
}
I have created bootstrap modal within modal and first open the main modal and then opening the child modal within the modal, but when I close it should first close the child modal and then parent modal separately, Currently its closing all together.
Also, I am trying to close it in dynamic way, as the parent/child modal ID may get changed.
