Passing parameters between html pages using jquery - javascript

I have one html page which contains a jquery function.
<script>
function loadCustomers() {
$.ajax({
type: 'GET',
url: 'http://localhost:8080/cache/getCustomers',
dataType: 'json',
success: function(data) {
var rows = [];
$.each(data,function(id,value) {
rows.push('<tr><td><a href="clientSiteInfo.html?client=">'+id+'</td><td>'+value+'</td></tr>');
});
$('table').append(rows.join(''));
}
});
};
window.onload = loadCustomers;
</script>
I have linked another html page for each row. When each rows populated, the id values has to be passed to the clientSiteInfo.html page.
In the clientSiteInfo.html page i have another jquery function similar to above.
<script>
function loadSites() {
$.ajax({
type: 'GET',
url: 'http://localhost:8080/cache/getSite?clientName='+${param.client},
dataType: 'json',
success: function(data) {
var rows = [];
$.each(data,function(id,value) {
rows.push('<tr><td>'+id+'</td><td>'+value.machine+'</td><td>'+value.state+'</td></tr>');
});
$('table').append(rows.join(''));
}
});
};
window.onload = loadSites;
</script>
in the GET url I try to read client parameter. But it is not passing from my initial page.
What Im doing wrong here? I look for simple solution

jQuery doesn't have a native way to read the url parameters. However, javascript works just fine:
function getParameterByName(name) {
const match = RegExp(`[?&]${name}=([^&]*)`).exec(window.location.search);
return match && decodeURIComponent(match[1].replace(/\+/g, ' ') );
}
In your code you would just call it as getParameterByName('client')

Unable to send multiple data parameters with jQuery AJAX

I am trying to send values to other page Using Ajax
But i am unable to receive those values , i don't know where i am wrong
here is my code
<script type="text/javascript">
function get_more_info() { // Call to ajax function
var fval = document.getElementById('get_usecompny').value;
var dataString1 = "fval="+fval;
alert(fval);
var sval = document.getElementById('country').value;
var dataString2 = "sval="+sval;
alert(sval);
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "getmoreinfo.php", // Name of the php files
data: "{'data1':'" + dataString1+ "', 'data2':'" + dataString2+ "'}",
success: function(html)
{
$("#get_more_info_dt").html(html);
}
});
}
</script>
in alert i am getting those value but in page 'getmoreinfo.php' i am not receiving any values
here is my 'getmoreinfo.php' page code
if ($_POST) {
$country = $_POST['fval'];
$country1 = $_POST['sval'];
echo $country1;
echo "<br>";
echo $country;
}
Please let me know where i am wrong .! sorry for bad English
You are passing the parameters with different names than you are attempting to read them with.
Your data: parameter could be done much more simply as below
<script type="text/javascript">
function get_more_info() { // Call to ajax function
var fval = document.getElementById('get_usecompny').value;
var sval = document.getElementById('country').value;
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "getmoreinfo.php", // Name of the php files
data: {fval: fval, sval: sval},
success: function(html)
{
$("#get_more_info_dt").html(html);
}
});
}
</script>
Or cut out the intermediary variables as well and use the jquery method of getting data from an element with an id like this.
<script type="text/javascript">
function get_more_info() { // Call to ajax function
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "getmoreinfo.php", // Name of the php files
data: { fval: $("#get_usecompny").val(),
sval: $("#country").val()
},
success: function(html)
{
$("#get_more_info_dt").html(html);
}
});
}
</script>
No need to create 'dataString' variables. You can present data as an object:
$.ajax({
...
data: {
'fval': fval,
'sval': sval
},
...
});
In your PHP, you can then access the data like this:
$country = $_POST['fval'];
$country1 = $_POST['sval'];
The property "data" from JQuery ajax object need to be a simple object data. JQuery will automatically parse object as parameters on request:
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "getmoreinfo.php",
data: {
fval: document.getElementById('get_usecompny').value,
sval: document.getElementById('country').value
},
success: function(html) {
$("#get_more_info_dt").html(html);
}
});

Updating div content after form submit without page reload

alright, I have a popup which displays some notes added about a customer. The content (notes) are shown via ajax (getting data via ajax). I also have a add new button to add a new note. The note is added with ajax as well. Now, the question arises, after the note is added into the database.
How do I refresh the div which is displaying the notes?
I have read multiple questions but couldn't get an answer.
My Code to get data.
<script type="text/javascript">
var cid = $('#cid').val();
$(document).ready(function() {
$.ajax({ //create an ajax request to load_page.php
type: "GET",
url: "ajax.php?requestid=1&cid="+cid,
dataType: "html", //expect html to be returned
success: function(response){
$("#notes").html(response);
//alert(response);
}
});
});
</script>
DIV
<div id="notes">
</div>
My code to submit the form (adding new note).
<script type="text/javascript">
$("#submit").click(function() {
var note = $("#note").val();
var cid = $("#cid").val();
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "ajax.php?requestid=2",
data: { note: note, cid: cid }
}).done(function( msg ) {
alert(msg);
$("#make_new_note").hide();
$("#add").show();
$("#cancel").hide();
//$("#notes").load();
});
});
</script>
I tried load, but it doesn't work.
Please guide me in the correct direction.
Create a function to call the ajax and get the data from ajax.php then just call the function whenever you need to update the div:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
// create a function to call the ajax and get the response
function getResponse() {
var cid = $('#cid').val();
$.ajax({ //create an ajax request to load_page.php
type: "GET",
url: "ajax.php?requestid=1&cid=" + cid,
dataType: "html", //expect html to be returned
success: function(response) {
$("#notes").html(response);
//alert(response);
}
});
}
getResponse(); // call the function on load
$("#submit").click(function() {
var note = $("#note").val();
var cid = $("#cid").val();
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "ajax.php?requestid=2",
data: {
note: note,
cid: cid
}
}).done(function(msg) {
alert(msg);
$("#make_new_note").hide();
$("#add").show();
$("#cancel").hide();}
getResponse(); // call the function to reload the div
});
});
});
</script>
You need to provide a URL to jQuery load() function to tell where you get the content.
So to load the note you could try this:
$("#notes").load("ajax.php?requestid=1&cid="+cid);

GET var from php to use in javascript function

i want to get a var from a php script and use it in a function .. so if i call the var simply with $.get (and document.write) i got an result but how can i integrate this into a function ?
$.get( 'http://www.domain.de/content/entwicklung/verdienst.php', function(verdienst_php) {
//document.write(verdienst_php);
});
function sendview () {
var datastring = {uid : uid_clear, verdienst : verdienst_php};
$.ajax({
type: 'POST',
url: 'http://www.domain.de/content/entwicklung/view_succeed.php',
data: datastring,
});
}
only put the function into the $.get part didnt work
if i didnt use $.get and write in datastring like
verdienst: 1000
it works
any suggestions ?
kind regards Dave
Assuming you are returning exactly what you want from the server, store it in a variable and reference the variable in the other Ajax call.
var verdienst_php;
$.get( 'http://www.domain.de/content/entwicklung/verdienst.php',
function(response) {
verdienst_php = response;
});
function sendview () {
var datastring = {uid : uid_clear, verdienst : verdienst_php};
$.ajax({
type: 'POST',
url: 'http://www.domain.de/content/entwicklung/view_succeed.php',
data: datastring,
});
}
If you want the GET call to happen when the click happens, than you just need to put the post code inside of the GET success callback.
You have to make an extra ajax call to get php variable, you can do it this way :-
function sendview () {
var datastring = {uid : uid_clear, verdienst : getPHPVar('verdienst_php')};
$.ajax({
type: 'POST',
url: 'http://www.domain.de/content/entwicklung/view_succeed.php',
data: datastring,
});
}
function getPHPVar(varname){
var returnValue = null;
$.ajax({
url: 'yourphpurl.php',
async: false,
type: 'post',
data:{
task:'getvar',
varname: varname
},
success: function(response){
returnValue = response;
}
});
return returnValue;
}
and in PHP it will look like:
<?php
if($_POST['task'] == 'getvar'){
echo $$_POST['varname'];
}
Also, I think it's actually not needed cause you are getting php variable using ajax, and again using it in another ajax call. so Why don't you just do it in php ?

How to pass extra parameter in jquery post request from outside click event?

Hi i have jquery request like below ,
$('#filterForm').submit(function(e){
e.preventDefault();
var dataString = $('#filterForm').serialize();
var class2011 = document.getElementById("2011").className;
//var validate = validateFilter();
alert(dataString);
if(class2011=='yearOn')
{
dataString+='&year=2011';
document.getElementById("2011").className='yearOff';
}
else
{
document.getElementById("2011").className='yearOn';
}
alert (dataString);
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "myServlet",
data: dataString,
success: function(data) {
/*var a = data;
alert(data);*/
}
});
and my Form is like ,
<form method="post" name="filterForm" id="filterForm">
<!-- some input elements -->
</form>
Well, I am triggering jquery submit on submit event of a form ,(it's working fine)
I want pass one extra parameter inside form which is not in above form content but it's outside in page
it's like below
[Check this image link for code preview][1]
So how can i trigger above event , on click of , element with class yearOn ( check above html snippet ) and class yearOff , with additional parameter of year set to either 2011 or 2010
$(document).ready(function () {
$('#filterForm').submit(function (e) {
e.preventDefault();
var dataString = $('#filterForm').serialize();
if ($("#2011").hasClass('yearOn')) {
dataString += '&year=2011';
$("#2011").removeClass('yearOn').addClass('yearOff');
}
else {
$("#2011").removeClass('yearOff').addClass('yearOn');
}
$.ajax({
url: "/myServlet",
type: "POST",
data: dataString,
success: function (data) {
/*var a = data;
alert(data);*/
}
});
});
});
1.) If you are using jQuery already, you can use the $.post() function provided by jquery. It will make your life easier in most cases.
2.) I have always had a successful post with extra parameters this way:
Build you extra parameters here
commands={
year:'2011'
};
Combine it with your form serialize
var dataString=$.param(commands)+'&'+$("#filterForm").serialize();
Perform your post here
$.post("myServlet",data,
function(data) {
/*var a = data;
alert(data);*/
}
);
OR use $.ajax if you really love it
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "myServlet",
data: dataString,
success: function(data) {
/*var a = data;
alert(data);*/
}
In the end, here is the full code the way you are doing it now
$('#filterForm').submit(function(e){
e.preventDefault();
var class2011 = document.getElementById("2011").className;
//var validate = validateFilter();
alert(dataString);
if(class2011=='yearOn') {
dataString+='&year=2011';
document.getElementById("2011").className='yearOff';
} else {
document.getElementById("2011").className='yearOn';
}
commands={
year:'2011'
};
var dataString=$.param(commands)+'&'+$("#filterForm").serialize();
alert (dataString);
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "myServlet",
data: dataString,
success: function(data) {
/*var a = data;
alert(data);*/
}
});

Return a set from ajax to JavaScript

I have an ajax call which will return a set<E>. I need to process this set from the JavaScript function from which I call this ajax.
<script type="text/javascript">
function mySr(id){
$.ajax({
type: 'POST',
url: '../controller/action',
data: 'id=' + id,
success: function(data) {
var length= data.length
var size = data.size
alert(data[0]+'----'+length+'--'+size+'----'+data)
},
error: function () {
alert('error')
}
});
</script>
This is the way i used,
The alert will display like this
["37",
"40","80","90"]----22--undefined----[
I understood the data is clearly reached in the script but i don't know how to iterate through it.
How to iterate here?
How to get the length?
How to get each elements?
You need to parse the data. Try putting data = $.parseJSON(data); after the line success: function(data) {
See http://api.jquery.com/jQuery.parseJSON/ for more details.
