im working with NodeJS and services SOAP in XML.
To call the soap I use strong-soap and to transform XML in JSON use xml2js.
All ready works good, the response shows like:
{ 'SOAP-ENV:Envelope': { '$':
{ 'xmlns:SOAP-ENV': 'http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/',
'xmlns:ns1': 'http://sandbox.coordinadora.com/agw/ws/guias/1.5/server.php',
'xmlns:xsd': 'http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema',
'xmlns:xsi': 'http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance',
'xmlns:SOAP-ENC': 'http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/',
'SOAP-ENV:encodingStyle': 'http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/' },
'SOAP-ENV:Body': [ [Object] ] } }
But in javascript I can call response.SOAP-ENV:Body because show me error.
What I can do to handle this data?
- and : aren't valid characters in javascript variables, so you'll have to use bracket notation like this:
let body = response['SOAP-ENV:Body']

I have been traversing through Stackoverflow and everywhere else on the web to try and find a solution to my issue..
I am working in Javascript and attempting to POST a small section of JSON to an endpoint in the API i know is working (I have completes the GET and POST manually in Postman)
Here is my issue..
I want dont really want to do the "GET" in my programme I just want to either reference the file or even just store it in a little variable.
So for example I have in my code:
var OauthUpload = {
"objects": [
{
"name": "api",
"serviceID": 16,
"properties": {}
}
],
"version": "integration",
"environment": "redshift"
}
Then I am trying to reference this in the JS function:
function ApiPostOauth (port) {
$.post(OauthUpload, "http://docker.dc.test.com:" + getActualPort(port) + "/rest/v1/oauth/import", runner);
}
But I am having no joy! I have seen a few different silutions but none seem to fit for me.
Basically I want a way to just:
Reference my own JSON as a variable and then insert tht so my function "ApiPostOauth" has that inserted before it runs?
Thanks guys
Steve
I have put together an example for your use. When executing this code, the server will return the same object it is sent. So the 'OauthUpload` object is sent as the request body and the server returns the exact same object. Note: if you don't see output in the output panel when running the sample I will need to restart the server (leave a comment). This is here to demonstrate:
[EDIT] - after re-reading your question, it appears you would like to pass the 'OauthUpload` object into the function. I've updated the example.
You have a mistake in your call to jQuery post() method. As shown in the comments, the first two arguments are reversed in the call to post().
Since you didn't pick up on that, I decided to provide an example using your code. Since I don't have your server, I stood up a server for this example. So the URL and port will be different, but the AJAX call will be the same.
Please pay close attention to the OauthUpload object. Notice the property names are no longer surrounded by ". I removed these quotes because they seemed to be causing you confusion about JavaScript objects and JSON strings (there is no such thing as a JSON Object regardless of what you read on the web - JSON is a string format).
Next, look at the differences between the call made to $.post() in my example and your code. You will see the URL comes first in that call.
let url = "//SimpleCORSEnabledServer--randycasburn.repl.co/rest/v1/oauth/import";
let OauthUpload = {
objects: [{
name: "api",
serviceID: 16,
properties: {}
}],
version: "integration",
environment: "redshift"
}
ApiPostOauth(OauthUpload);
function ApiPostOauth(data) {
$.post(url, data, runner)
}
function runner(data) {
document.querySelector('pre').textContent = JSON.stringify(data, null, 2);
}
<pre></pre>

I need to make HTML fill itself with content from JSON file using Mustache or Handlebars.
I created two simple HTML templates for testing (using Handlebars) and filled them with content from an external JavaScript file. http://codepen.io/MaxVelichkin/pen/qNgxpB
Now I need content to lay initially in a JSON file.
I ran into two problems, but they both lie at the heart of solutions of the same main problem - creating a link between the content in the JSON file and HTML, so I decided to ask them in the same question.
How can I connect JSON and HTML? As far as I know there is a way, using AJAX, and there's a way that uses a server. AJAX is a new language for me, so I would be grateful for an explanation of how can I do it, using local HTTP server, that I created using Node.JS.
What should be the syntax in a JSON file? The script in the JSON file must be the same, as a script in JavaScript file, but then it should be processed with the help of JSON.parse function, is that correct? Or syntax in JSON file should be different?
For example, if we consider my example (link above), the code for the first template in the JSON file must be the same as in the JavaScript file, but before the last line document.getElementById('quoteData').innerHTML += quoteData;, I have to write the following line var contentJS = JSON.parse(quoteData);, and then change the name of the variable in the last line, so it will be: document.getElementById('quoteData').innerHTML += contentJS;, Is it right?
Try this:
HTML:
<!-- template-1 -->
<div id="testData"></div>
<script id="date-template" type="text/x-handlebars-template">
Date:<span> <b>{{date}}</b> </span> <br/> Time: <span><b>{{time}}</b></span>
</script>
JS:
function sendGet(callback) {
/* create an AJAX request using XMLHttpRequest*/
var xhr = new XMLHttpRequest();
/*reference json url taken from: http://www.jsontest.com/*/
/* Specify the type of request by using XMLHttpRequest "open",
here 'GET'(argument one) refers to request type
"http://date.jsontest.com/" (argument two) refers to JSON file location*/
xhr.open('GET', "http://date.jsontest.com/");
/*Using onload event handler you can check status of your request*/
xhr.onload = function () {
if (xhr.status === 200) {
callback(JSON.parse(xhr.responseText));
} else {
alert(xhr.statusText);
}
};
/*Using onerror event handler you can check error state, if your request failed to get the data*/
xhr.onerror = function () {
alert("Network Error");
};
/*send the request to server*/
xhr.send();
}
//For template-1
var dateTemplate = document.getElementById("date-template").innerHTML;
var template = Handlebars.compile(dateTemplate);
sendGet(function (response) {
document.getElementById('testData').innerHTML += template(response);
})
JSON:
JSON data format derives from JavaScript, so its more look like JavaScript objects, Douglas Crockford originally specified the JSON format, check here.
JavaScript Object Notation has set of rules.
Starts with open curly braces ( { ) and ends with enclosing curly braces ( } )
ex: {}
Inside baces you can add 'key' and its 'value' like { "title" : "hello json"}
here "title" is key and "hello json" is value of that key.
"key" should be string
"value" can be:
number
string
Boolean
array
object
Can not add JavaScript comments inside JSON (like // or /**/)
there are many online JSON validators, you can check whether your JSON is valid or not, check here.
When comes to linking JSON to js file, its more like provide an interface to get JSON data and use it in your JavaScript.
here XMLHttpRequest our interface. we usually call XMLHttpRequest API.
In the given js code, to get JSON from the server using an REST API (http://date.jsontest.com/)
for more information on REST API you can check here
from the url: http://date.jsontest.com/ you can get JSON object like below.
{
"time": "03:47:36 PM",
"milliseconds_since_epoch": 1471794456318,
"date": "08-21-2016"
}
Note: data is dynamic; values change on each request.
So by using external API you can get JSON, to use it in your JavaScript file/ code base you need to convert JSON to JavaScript object, JSON.parse( /* your JSON object is here */ ) converts JSON to js Object
`var responseObject = JSON.parse(xhr.responseText)`
by using dot(.) or bracket ([]) notation you can access JavaScript Object properties or keys; like below.
console.log(responseObject.time) //"03:47:36 PM"
console.log(responseObject["time"]) //"03:47:36 PM"
console.log(responseObject.milliseconds_since_epoch) //1471794456318
console.log(responseObject["milliseconds_since_epoch"])//1471794456318
console.log(responseObject.date) //"08-21-2016"
console.log(responseObject["date"]) //"08-21-2016"
So to link local JSON file (from your local directory) or an external API in your JavaScript file you can use "XMLHttpRequest".
'sendGet' function updatedin the above js block with comments please check.
In simple way:
create XMLHttpRequest instance
ex: var xhr = new XMLHttpRequest();
open request type
ex: xhr.open('GET', "http://date.jsontest.com/");
send "GET" request to server
ex: xhr.send();
register load event handler to hold JSON object if response has status code 200.
ex: xhr.onload = function () {

What is JSON and why would I use it?
What are the differences between JSON and JavaScript object?
Basically, JSON is a structured format recently uses which would be preferred due to some advantages via developers, Like simpler and easier structure and etc. Ajax is not a language, It's a technique that you can simply send a request to an API service and update your view partially without reloading the entire page.
So you need to make a server-client architecture. In this case all your server-side responses would be sent in JSON format as RESTful API. Also you can simply use the JSON response without any conversion or something else like an array object in JavaScript.
You can see some examples here to figure out better: JSON example
I'm developing a web app with Node.js using Sails framework(based on Express) and i'm using a third party image solution called Transloadit (no need to know Transloadit).
Anyway, that's not the problem, i'm been able to implement the Transloadit form and receive the information from their API.
My problem is that, Transloadit gives me the response as a String, and I need to access the response objects, so i'm using var objRes = JSON.parse(req.body.transloadit); to parse it to an JSON object, and when I console.log(objRes); the object is not correctly parsed, i get this: (see all JSON here https://gist.github.com/kevinblanco/9631085 )
{
a bunch of fields here .....
last_seq: 2,
results: {
thumb: [
[
Object
]
]
}
}
And I need the data from the thumb array, my question is, Why is doing that when parsing ?
Here's the entire request req.body object: https://gist.github.com/kevinblanco/9628156 as you can see the transloadit field is a string, and I need the data from some of their fields.
Thanks in advance.
There is nothing wrong with the parsing of the JSON -- in fact there is no problem at all.
consol.log limits the depth of what it is printing which is why you are seeing [object] in the output.
If you want to see the full output in node.js then just use the inspect utility like this;
console.log(util.inspect( yourobject, {depth:null} ));
and that will print the entire content.
Note that this is just an artifact of console.log printing it.
I'm retrieving data from MongoDB and then sending it to client:
var bsonDocument = ... retrieve from database ...
var dto = new Dto { MyBson = bsonDocument.ToJson() };
On the client I'm trying to parse MyBson property using JSON.parse.
I'm getting the following error: SyntaxError: Unexpected token N. I guess this is because one of the properties looks like this:
{ ..., "SomeIntProp" : NumberLong(70) }
JavaScript parser simply doesn't understand Bson data type: NumberLong.
How should I convert BsonDocument to JSON so that the output would omit NumberLong?
There is no easy way to solve this, I worked out a solution by writing my own parsing function which understands the MongoDB BSON types and does the conversion. The native JSON.parse only understands the types used by the JavaScript. Here is my version:
https://gist.github.com/Hrish2006/8270187
You probably will not need the html snippets in the code.
i'm using eval for the below JSON but getting syntax error :Expected ']' message. i'm not getting what i'm missing in it.
my javascript stmt is
eval('var jsonResponse = ('+response+')');
response contains the following:
{iserror:"false",employees:["employee":{"employeeNbr":"SAN1234509","emplType":"SAN","agencyNbr":"","producerNbr":"123456789","remiCode":"SA","agentRate":"SA","typeCode":"I","reasonTxt":"S3","rsnDescription":"null","ymdeff":"20130101","ymdend":"20130101","voidtxt":"V","brokerName":"429610583","brokerNpn":"429610583","ymdtrans":"null","opNbr":"null"},
"employee":{"employeeNbr":"SAN1234509","emplType":"SAN","agencyNbr":"xxxxx-C","producerNbr":"1234567890,"remiCode":"SA","agentRate":"SA","typeCode":"I","reasonTxt":"S3","rsnDescription":"null","ymdeff":"20130101","ymdend":"20130101","voidtxt":"","brokerName":"429610583","brokerNpn":"429610583","ymdtrans":"null","opNbr":"null"},
"employee":{"employeeNbr":"SAN1234509","emplType":"SAN","agencyNbr":"","producerNbr":"123456789","remiCode":"SA","agentRate":"SA","typeCode":"I","reasonTxt":"S3","rsnDescription":"null","ymdeff":"20130101","ymdend":"20130101","voidtxt":"V","brokerName":"429610583","brokerNpn":"429610583","ymdtrans":"null","opNbr":"null"}]}
For starters, you claim it's JSON, but it's not. Quotes would be required around iserror to be JSON, for example.
Specifically,
{iserror:"false",employees:[...]}
should be
{"iserror":"false","employees":[...]}
But since you actually pass the string to a JavaScript parser (eval), it merely needs to be JavaScript, not JSON. It's not valid JavaScript either, which is why you're getting the error.
You have
{
iserror:"false",
employees:[
"employee":{...},
"employee":{...},
"employee":{...}
]
}
The : after "employee" is wrong. Maybe you meant to use
{
iserror:"false",
employees:[
{...},
{...},
{...}
]
}
Also, you have
"producerNbr":"1234567890,"remiCode":"SA"
instead of
"producerNbr":"1234567890","remiCode":"SA"
