Leaflet map freezing in bootstrap 3.0 modal - javascript

I'm trying to load map in bootstrap modal but map appear partly, it's also freezing so I can't select any region. Despite of using map.invalidateSize() my problem is still resisting. Is there anybody to make it work in bootstrap modal or any other kind of modal?
here is my code:
<script type="text/javascript">
var LbsConfig = {
Url:'https://map.ghasedakbahar.ir:6443/arcgis/rest/services/iran/FeatureServer/0',
View: [35.6970, 51.4079],
MapID: 'map-id',
Color: {
Default: '#9ab9ff',
Selected: '#ff0659'
}
};
var map = LbsMap();
LbsShowNew(map, function (regions) {
var maxRegions = 5;
var errRegions = 'The number of areas is more than 5 areas';
if (regions.length > maxRegions) {
alert(errRegions);
return;
}
jQuery('#Regions').val(regions.join(','));
jQuery('#count-selected').html(regions.length);
});
$('#myMap').on('show.bs.modal', function () {
setTimeout(function () {
map.invalidateSize();
}, 10);
});
</script>
#map-id {
padding: 0;
width: auto;
height: 400px;
}
<!-- Modal -->
<div class="modal fade" id="myMap" role="dialog" style="margin-top:70px">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<!-- Modal content-->
<div class="modal-content font-yekan">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal">×</button>
<h4 class="modal-title">'SendSmsDetail'</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body" id="modal-body">
<div id="map-id"></div>
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default" data-dismiss="modal">Close</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>

I remember having the same problem before. There is a lot of similar problem on internet and maybe this one can help you :
Leaflet map not showing properly in bootstrap 3.0 modal
I think what is happening is that, when the map is created, the
container width/height for your `map-canvas' element has not yet been
adjusted to the width/height of the modal dialog. This causes the map
size to be incorrect (smaller) than what it should be.
You can fix this by calling map.invalidateSize(). This will work to
re-adjust the width/height bounds of the L.Map's container.
You can automatically call this by hooking into the event where the
Bootstrap modal becomes shown.
$('#myModal').on('show.bs.modal', function(){
setTimeout(function() {
map.invalidateSize();
}, 10);
});
Insert this code into your JavaScript. When the modal is shown, the
map will then invalidate its size. The timeout is because there may be
some animation/transition time for the modal to display and be added
to the DOM.

Is it possible to update modal content via javascript? [resolved]

[Resolved - I had two modals defined with different Ids but when I disabled one, it worked as expected. Changed it so all content goes through one modal. At some point I may revisit to figure out where the conflict was.]
I have a mvc core page on which I have a modal that uses a partial view. In the modal, I'd like to present a summary list and let the user click an item in the list to view additional details on the modal. However, while the element is reporting it has been changed (via an alert check) it is not visibly updated. I then created a simple test to change the background color of a div to see if the approach itself is valid.
In this case the alerts identify that the color was changed, but again, it does not visually change. So the question is, how can I dynamically update text or CSS within a modal dialog using a js/jquery function? Is it even possible? I'm not interested in reloading the modal.
My test modal content (_TestContentModal):
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-label="Close" id="closeMe"><span aria-hidden="true">×</span></button>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<div id="test">
background color test
</div>
<div>
<button onclick="UpdateDetails('yellow');">Change background to yellow</button>
</div>
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button data-dismiss="modal" id="cancel" class="btn btn-default" type="button">Close</button>
</div>
</div>
<script>
function UpdateDetails(newColor) {
alert('Before change: ' + $('#test').css("background-color")); // Before change: rgba(0, 0, 0)
$('#test').css("background-color", newColor);
alert('After change: ' + $('#test').css("background-color")); // After change: rgba(255, 255, 0)
// clicking a second time confirms that the color was updated:
// Before change: rgba(255, 255, 0)
// After change: rgba(255, 255, 0)
}
</script>
Clicking the button properly triggers the function and the alerts show/confirm that the background color is being changed, however it is not visibly changed. A second button click confirms the new color was set.
I'm relatively new to modals and it is quite possible that I'm going about this entirely the wrong way. Thanks in advance for any advice or solution.
Edit:
Including some additional code in response to initial answer. Since the above code seems to function as intended elsewhere the problem must lie in the handling of the modal.
On parent page is the reference to the modal:
<partial name="_TestModal" />
This is the content of _TestModal.cs:
<!--Modal-->
<div aria-hidden="true" aria-labelledby="modal-test-label" role="dialog" tabindex="-1" id="modal-test" class="modal fade">
<div class="modal-dialog modal-lg">
</div>
</div>
A button on the parent page activates the modal:
<div>
<a class="btn btn-secondary popup"
style="color: black;"
data-url='#Url.Action("GetTest","Runways")'
data-toggle="modal"
data-target="#modal-test">
Update<i class="fa fa-plus"></i>
</a>
</div>
The GetTest action of the controller returns the partial that contains the modal content shown at the top:
return PartialView("_TestContentModal");
And finally, the parent page has this script to handle the modal:
(function ($) {
function Index() {
var $this = this;
function initialize() {
$(".popup").on('click', function (e) {
modelPopup(this);
});
function modelPopup(reff) {
var url = $(reff).data('url');
$.get(url).done(function (data) {
$('#modal-test').find(".modal-dialog").html(data);
$('#modal-test > .modal', data).modal("show");
});
}
}
$this.init = function () {
initialize();
};
}
$(function () {
var self = new Index();
self.init();
});
}(jQuery));
To be clear: the color is not visibly changing. There are no errors reported in the browser console so the alerts were added to see how the element was responding. Minus the alerts, Brando Zhang's answer demonstrates the expected behavior, but in my case it does not turn yellow, with or without the timer delay. And again, the alerts were only added as a debug aid.
Do you mean you want to show the test backgournd color to yellow before the alert After change?
If this is your requirement, I suggest you could try to use setTimeout to not fired the alert immediately.
More details, you could refer to below codes:
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-label="Close" id="closeMe"><span aria-hidden="true">×</span></button>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<div id="test">
background color test
</div>
<div>
<button onclick="UpdateDetails('yellow');">Change background to yellow</button>
</div>
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button data-dismiss="modal" id="cancel" class="btn btn-default" type="button">Close</button>
</div>
</div>
<script>
function UpdateDetails(newColor) {
alert('Before change: ' + $('#test').css("background-color")); // Before change: rgba(0, 0, 0)
$('#test').css("background-color", newColor);
setTimeout(function () { alert('After change: ' + $('#test').css("background-color")); }, 1)
// After change: rgba(255, 255, 0)
// clicking a second time confirms that the color was updated:
// Before change: rgba(255, 255, 0)
// After change: rgba(255, 255, 0)
}
</script>

Bootstrap modal with angular. Modal not closing with a specific data-ng-click function

I am trying to figure out why this particular Bootstrap confirmation modal is not working with my desired function. It does appear to work with a basic function bringing up an alert window but when I put the function I want it, it executes the function (in this case deletes an image from File-stack and my db) but it hangs up the modal window to where the modal window closes but there is that grey overlay stuck and it makes the page no longer functional. The function that seems to be holding this up is in the first button in the modal-footerdiv towards the bottom. The close button works fine and again it works fine when I put a simple function in place of the removeMoreImage() function Here is the code for the Bootstrap modal:
<button type="button" class="btn btn-danger" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#confirm-modal-more"> <span class= "glyphicon glyphicon-remove-circle"></span> REMOVE IMAGE</button>
<div id="confirm-modal-more" class="modal fade" role="dialog">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal">×</button>
<h4 class="modal-title">Remove Image Confirmation</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<p>Are you sure you want to delete this image?</p>
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-danger" data-ng-click="removeMoreImage(picture.url, car)" data-dismiss="modal" >REMOVE</button>
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default" data-dismiss="modal">CANCEL</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
Here is the function that is is executing causing the hangup:
var getIndexIfObjWithOwnAttr = function(array, attr, value) {
for (var i = 0; i < array.length; i++) {
if (array[i].hasOwnProperty(attr) && array[i][attr] === value) {
return i;
}
}
return -1;
}
$scope.removeMoreImage = function(image, data) {
var index = getIndexIfObjWithOwnAttr(data.morePictures, 'url', image);
data.morePictures.splice(index, 1);
filepickerService.remove(image);
console.log(image + " has been removed!");
}
Any insights or advice would be great. It seems like sync issue but I am not sure.
I ended up using some query to force the modal close and it seems to work nicely though it is not as elegant of a solution as I was hoping for but it seems to work. This is the code I added to the function that was hanging up the modal.
$('#confirm-modal-more').modal('hide');
$('body').removeClass('modal-open');
$('.modal-backdrop').remove();
You can close the modal in the function and return a result to the parent controller:
$uibModalInstance.close('some result of modal');
$uibModalInstance.dismiss('some reason for discarding and closing');
$scope.removeMoreImage = function(image, data) {
var index = getIndexIfObjWithOwnAttr(data.morePictures, 'url', image);
data.morePictures.splice(index, 1);
filepickerService.remove(image);
console.log(image + " has been removed!");
// close modal
$uibModalInstance.close();
}

Quicksand.js interfering with Bootstrap Modals

I've been trying to make a lightbox portfolio using the Bootstrap Modal functions, with the quicksand sorting plug-in. I originally followed this tutorial which I had to work with a little to get to work in Bootstrap 3.0.0 (the version I'm using), but it was working. I decided I needed more control over the modal boxes so I took out the bootbox plug-in and just used the modal js that comes in bootstrap. Now when I press the thumbnail the modal box pops up fine, but if I press one of the sorting nav buttons, the box will pop up with either the last image that was in the modal (not the correct one) or if the first thing you do is sort then click, the modal box pops up but it is empty. The tutorial mentioned the problem and a work-around:
"Inherently, Quicksand will nullify Bootstrap’s modal feature as soon
as you interact with any of the categories. That is, the modal works
before firing Quicksand, but not after. However, we’ve easily avoided
this issue by defining our Bootbox function earlier. As shown above,
we then used “gallery” as an attribute inside the quicksand() function
and setup $(document).ready(gallery);. Now modal will work as expected
both before and after selecting a filter/category."
but it doesn't seem to work with the normal bootstrap modal. The only similar question I could find is this one, the answer was to add a call-back, since the objects sorted by quicksand are actually new objects that have not been affected by the modal script, but when I added the callback it didn't work.
here is my code (I left out all the other thumbnails)
<div class="container well well-lg">
<ul class="filter nav nav-pills">
<li data-value="all"><h6>All</h6></li>
<li data-value="Historical"><h6>Historical</h6></li>
...
</ul>
<hr>
<ul class="thumbnails">
<li class="col-lg-2 col-md-2 col-sm-3 col-xs-4" data-id="id-1" data-type="Historical">
<a class="thumbnail" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#myModal" id="joan1" href="#" data-image-id="" data-title="Joan of Arc" data-caption="Digital, Junior Thesis subject Crime and Punishment, 2015" data-image="/images/joan1.png">
<img alt="" src="/images/thumb_joan1.png"></a>
</li>
...
</ul>
</div>
<!-- Modal -->

<div class="modal-dialog modal-lg">

<div class="modal-body">

and here is my javascript
<script src="/Scripts/jquery.quicksand.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script>
$(document).ready(function () {
loadGallery(true, 'a.thumbnail');
$(".modal-wide").on("show.bs.modal", function () {
var height = $(window).height() - 200;
$(this).find(".modal-body").css("max-height", height);

}
if (setIDs == true) {
$('[data-image-id]').each(function () {
counter++;
$(this).attr('data-image-id', counter);
});
}
$(setClickAttr).on('click', function () {
updateGallery($(this));
});
};
function gallery() {
}
var $itemsHolder = $('ul.thumbnails');
var $itemsClone = $itemsHolder.clone();
var $filterClass = "";
$('ul.filter li').click(function (e) {
e.preventDefault();
$filterClass = $(this).attr('data-value');
if ($filterClass == 'all') { var $filters = $itemsClone.find('li'); }
else { var $filters = $itemsClone.find('li[data-type=' + $filterClass + ']'); }
$itemsHolder.quicksand(
$filters,
{ duration: 1000 },
loadGallery
);
});
});
$holder.quicksand($filteredData, {
duration: 800,
easing: 'easeInOutQuad'
}, gallery);
$(document).ready(gallery);
</script>
and here is the live page where you can see the problem. I'm pretty new to this so hopefully I just messed up something basic and fixable. Thanks in advance for any help!
Hi your thumbnail click event does not trigger after filtering, when filtering you are creating a clone of the elements and adding them to back to the DOM, Therefore your trying to bind a click event to elements that are not on the page yet, to fix bind to an element that's is always on the page, then use your variable 'setClickAttr' for the Selector filter
i.e change
$(setClickAttr).on('click', function () {
....
});
to
$(document).on('click', setClickAttr, function() {
....
});
This Turning live() into on() in jQuery talks more about binding to elements that must exist first

How clear the previous data while open the bootstrap modal?

Main page contains the google map(div), after selecting state from map, i will try to open bootstrap modal and load the selected county map inside the bootstrap.
Firsttime click Texas state(javascript ShowModalDialog() called) then bootstrap modal alert shows Texas then close.
Second time Ohio is selected, now first alert showing Texas then Ohio.
Why the previous state is showing here?
<script type="text/javascript">
function ShowModalDialog(stateid) {
$('#myModal').modal('show').on('shown.bs.modal', function () {
alert(stateid);
$("#myModal #myModalLabel").html(document.getElementById("statename").value);
var datajson = GetCountyData(stateid);
});
}
</script>

<div class="modal-body">

I think this is bug in bootstrap, because i have several ways to clear modal
$('body').on('hidden.bs.modal', '.modal', function () {
$(this).removeData('bs.modal');
});
But stil got no 'perfect' solutin, becasue with every new call, modal on screen goes a little down, than in firebug i saw there is a lots of modal there just hidden, than i found
http://bootboxjs.com/
And all my problem were solved
$("#myModal").on("hide", function() { // remove the event listeners when the dialog is dismissed
$("#myModal a.btn").off("click");
});
$("#myModal").on("hidden", function() { // remove the actual elements from the DOM when fully hidden
$("#myModal").remove();
});
$("#myModal").modal({ // wire up the actual modal functionality and show the dialog
"backdrop" : "static",
"keyboard" : true,
"show" : true // ensure the modal is shown immediately
});

How to reset the bootstrap modal when it gets closed and open it fresh again?

I have a list box in the bootstrap modal and a button.
When the button is clicked a new button gets rendered inside a div in the modal.
When I close the modal and reopen it, the last operation performed on the modal like the button rendered earlier is still present in the modal.
How do reset the modal so that when the modal is opened again, the button is not present and user can again select the option from the list box and click on the button to render a new button and so on.
<!-- Modal -->
<div
class="modal fade"
id="myModal"

</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<script>
$("#submit_form").on("click", function () {
$(".modal-body1").html("<h3>test</h3>");
});
</script>
<script>
$(function () {
$(".modal-footer").click(function () {
$(".modal").modal("hide");
});
});
</script>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
-- Update ---
Why doesn't this work?
<script type="text/javascript">
$(function () {
$("#myModal").on("hidden.bs.modal", function (e) {
console.log("Modal hidden");
$("#placeholder-div1").html("");
});
});
</script>
Just reset any content manually when modal is hidden:
$(".modal").on("hidden.bs.modal", function(){
$(".modal-body1").html("");
});
There is more events. More about them here
$(document).ready(function() {
$(".modal").on("hidden.bs.modal", function() {
$(".modal-body1").html("Where did he go?!?!?!");
});
});
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.1/css/bootstrap.min.css" />

<h4 class="modal-title" id="myModalLabel">Modal title</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<div class='modal-body1'>
<h3>Close and open, I will be gone!</h3>
</div>
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default" data-dismiss="modal">Close</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
Tried it and working well
$('#MyModal').on('hidden.bs.modal', function () {
$(this).find('form').trigger('reset');
})
reset is dom build-in funtion, you can also use $(this).find('form')[0].reset();
And Bootstrap's modal class exposes a few events for hooking into modal functionality, detail at here.
hide.bs.modal This event is fired immediately when the hide instance
method has been called.
hidden.bs.modal This event is fired when the modal has finished being
hidden from the user (will wait for CSS transitions to complete).
What helped for me, was to put the following line in the ready function:
$(document).ready(function()
{
..
...
// codes works on all bootstrap modal windows in application
$('.modal').on('hidden.bs.modal', function(e)
{
$(this).removeData();
}) ;
...
..
});
When a modal window is closed and opened again, the previous entered and selected values, will be reset to the initial values.
I hope this will help you as well!
Try cloning, then removing and re-adding the element when the modal is hidden. This should keep all events, though I haven't thoroughly tested this with all versions of everything.
var originalModal = $('#myModal').clone();
$(document).on('#myModal', 'hidden.bs.modal', function () {
$('#myModal').remove();
var myClone = originalModal.clone();
$('body').append(myClone);
});
To reset all the input fields in a modal use the following.
$(".modal-body input").val("")
Here's an alternative solution.
If you're doing a lot of changes to the DOM (add/removing elements and classes), there could be several things that need to be "reset." Rather than clearing each element when the modal closes, you could reset the entire modal everytime it's reopened.
Sample code:
(function(){
var template = null
$('.modal').on('show.bs.modal', function (event) {
if (template == null) {
template = $(this).html()
} else {
$(this).html(template)
}
// other initialization here, if you want to
})
})()
You can still write your initial state in HTML without worrying too much about what will happen to it later. You can write your UI JS code without worrying about having to clean up later. Each time the modal is relaunched it will be reset to the exact same state it was in the first time.
Edit: Here's a version that should handle multiple modals (I haven't tested it)...
(function(){
$('.modal').on('show.bs.modal', function (event) {
if (!$(this).data('template')) {
$(this).data('template', $(this).html())
} else {
$(this).html($this.data('template'))
}
// other initialization here, if you want to
})
})()
(function(){
$(".modal").on("hidden.bs.modal", function(){
$(this).removeData();
});
});
This is perfect solution to remove contact while hide/close bootstrap modal.
That's works for me accurately
let template = null;
$('.modal').on('show.bs.modal', function(event) {
template = $(this).html();
});
$('.modal').on('hidden.bs.modal', function(e) {
$(this).html(template);
});
also, you can clone your modal before open ;)
$('#myModal')
.clone()
.modal()
.on('hidden.bs.modal', function(e) {
$(this).remove();
});
Reset form elements ( Works with bootstrap 5 as well). Sample code :
$(document).on("hidden.bs.modal", "#modalid", function () {
$(this).find('#form')[0].reset();
});
you can try this
$('body').on('hidden.bs.modal', '.modal', function () {
$(this).removeData('bs.modal');
});
It will remove all the data from the model and reset it.
I am using BS 3.3.7 and i have a problem when i open a modal then close it, the modal contents keep on the client side no html("") no clear at all. So i used this to remove completely the code inside the modal div.
Well, you may ask why the padding-right code, in chrome for windows when open a modal from another modal and close this second modal the stays with a 17px padding right.
Hope it helps...
$(document)
.on('shown.bs.modal', '.modal', function () {
$(document.body).addClass('modal-open')
})
.on('hidden.bs.modal', '.modal', function () {
$(document.body).removeClass('modal-open')
$(document.body).css("padding-right", "0px");
$(this).removeData('bs.modal').find(".modal-dialog").empty();
})
Sample code:
$(document).on('hide.bs.modal', '#basicModal', function (e) {
$('#basicModal').empty();
});
The below statements show how to open/reopen Modal without using bootstrap.
Add two classes in css
And then use the below jQuery to reopen the modal if it is closed.
.hide_block
{
display:none !important;
}
.display_block
{
display:block !important;
}
$("#Modal").removeClass('hide_block');
$("#Modal").addClass('display_block');
$("Modal").show("slow");
It worked fine for me :)
Using BS 3.3.7
$("#yourModal").on('hidden.bs.modal', function () {
$(this).data('bs.modal', null); // will clear all element inside modal
});
/* this will change the HTML content with the new HTML that you want to update in your modal without too many resets... */
var = ""; //HTML to be changed
$(".classbuttonClicked").click(function() {
$('#ModalDivToChange').html(var);
$('#myModal').modal('show');
});
Reset form inside the modal. Sample Code:
$('#myModal').on('hide.bs.modal', '#myModal', function (e) {
$('#myModal form')[0].reset();
});
To reset/clear all input fields from bootstrap modal use the following code:
$(".modal-body input").val("")
To hide/close bootstrap modal use the following code:
$('#yourModalId').modal('hide');
Keep Coding 😎
