Working on a HW project and I've followed it step by step to try and get this confirmation window to pop up but can't figure it out. I'm not getting any console errors so I assume my code is just broken somewhere.

So I need to take the value that's entered in the input box above, and then if they check off any box(s) to then convert each checked boxs currency from US to whatever was selected, and then print out the results each time using if statements.
you can make a function called convert,when convert button click or checkbox click then call that function.

What am I doing wrong??? heres my code:
function myFunctionmts() {
var x = document.getElementById("mters");
var y = document.getElementById("inches");
y.value = ((x.value*100)/2.54).toFixed(2);
document.getElementById("mters").value=x.value;
document.getElementById("inches").value=y.value;
}

var p = document.getElementById("inches");
var x = document.getElementById("kilos");
var z = document.getElementById("pounds");
var step1 = 0;
var step2 = 0;
var step3 = 0;
z.value = (x.value/.454).toFixed(2);
libras.value=z.value;
document.getElementById("pounds").value=z.value;
step1.value = z.value*703;
step2.value = step1.value/p.value;
step3.value = (step2.value/p.value).toFixed(1);
document.getElementById("imc").value=step3.value
}

I started learning javascript about 2 weeks ago so I'm really new. I've been messing arround with forms and I can't figure out some stuff.
I made a form in HTML and want to validate it in Javascript.
What I've done so far:
if the the fields are empty and the user presses submit a red border will appear arround the field. The border dissapperas if the users writes something in the field.
What I want to do:
if there are no validation errors and the form is submitted I would like for a confirmation message to appear above the form. The message should be hidden initially and it should say something like: "Thank you for contacting us,(and the first name the user entered in the form)"
I also want to print every information from the input fields in the console after submit.
How can I do this using only vanilla Javascript?
function formValidation() {
if (document.myForm.fname.value == "") {
document.getElementById("first-name").style.border = "2px solid red";
return false;
} else {
document.getElementById("first-name").style.border = "";
};
if (document.myForm.lname.value == "") {
document.getElementById("last-name").style.border = "2px solid red";
return false;
} else {
document.getElementById("last-name").style.border = "";
};
var checkMale = document.getElementById("gender-m").checked;
var checkFemale = document.getElementById("gender-f").checked;
if (checkMale == false && checkFemale == false) {
alert("Please select gender");
return false;
};
if (document.myForm.texta.value == "") {
document.getElementById("area").style.border = "2px solid red";
return false;
} else {
document.getElementById("area").style.border = "";
};
return true;
}
<!DOCTYPE html>

<script src="index.js"></script>

</html>
You can do it like this :
function formValidation() {
if (document.myForm.fname.value == "") {
document.getElementById("first-name").style.border = "2px solid red";
return false;
} else {
document.getElementById("first-name").style.border = "";
};
if (document.myForm.lname.value == "") {
document.getElementById("last-name").style.border = "2px solid red";
return false;
} else {
document.getElementById("last-name").style.border = "";
};
var checkMale = document.getElementById("gender-m").checked;
var checkFemale = document.getElementById("gender-f").checked;
if (checkMale == false && checkFemale == false) {
alert("Please select gender");
return false;
};
if (document.myForm.texta.value == "") {
document.getElementById("area").style.border = "2px solid red";
return false;
} else {
document.getElementById("area").style.border = "";
};
var success = true;
if(success){
var data = document.getElementById("first-name").value+','+document.getElementById("last-name").value;
console.log(data);
var html = '';
html +='Thank you for contacting us,'+document.getElementById("first-name").value;
document.getElementById("msg").innerHTML = html;
}
}
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
<meta charset="UTF-8">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0">
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="ie=edge">

<form id="my-form" name="myForm" action="#" onsubmit="event.preventDefault(); formValidation();">

<button type="submit">Submit</button>
</form>
<script src="index.js"></script>
</body>
</html>
When everything in the formValidation() function is validated then the code will set a flag success = true. If the value of success is true we can set a form submission successful message.
I coded an HTML form where I tried to validate it using javascript, However, the validation doesn't work. It should work on click of submit button. Everything looks fine! could not find the error! Please Help.
Below is the code for the page:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="UTF-8">
<title>Term Deposit Interest Calculator</title>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="css/style.css" media="screen" type="text/css" />
<script>
function validateform(){
var amount=document.myform.amount.value;
var years=document.myform.years.value;
var interst= document.myform.interst.value;
if (amount==null || amount==""){
alert("Amount can't be blank");
return false;
}else if (years==null || years==""){
alert("Years can't be blank");
return false;
}else if (interest==null || interest==""){
alert("Interest can't be blank");
return false;
}
}
</script>
</head>
<body>
<div class="card">
<h3>Term Deposit Interest Calculator</h3><br>
<form name = "myform" method="post"onsubmit="return validateform()">
<input type="text" name="amount" placeholder="Deposit Amount"><span id="num1"></span>
<input type="text" name="years" placeholder="Number Of Years"><span id="num2"></span>
<input type="text" name="interest" placeholder="Yearly Interst Rate"><span id="num3"></span>
<input type="submit" name="submit" class="my submit" value="Total Amount">
</form>
<div class="result">
</div>
</div>
</body>
</html>
<?php
if (!isset($amount7032)) { $amount7032 = ''; }
if (!isset($interest7032)) { $interest7032 = ''; }
if (!isset($years7032)) { $years7032 = ''; }
?>
You have written wrong form element name at below line
var interst= document.myform.interst.value;
it should be
var interest= document.myform.interest.value;
Basically because javascript was not able to find the form element and it was failing due to that.
I tried below code and its working:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="UTF-8">
<title>Term Deposit Interest Calculator</title>

return false;
}else if (years==null || years==""){
alert("Years can't be blank");
return false;
}else if (interest==null || interest==""){
alert("Interest can't be blank");

}
}

I'm trying to make a sum of 4 entries in 4 text type and everything seems fine except that when I click the button, it won't set the sum. Like if I enter 1 in each text input, the text input for the sum should show 4. Thanks!
here's my Javascript code :
(function(){
var oForm = document.forms;
oForm[2].querySelector("input[type='button']").
addEventListener("click",
sommeValeur,
false);
}) ()
function sommeValeur() {
var aTxt = document.forms[0].tEx1;
var total = document.forms[0].tEx2;
var txt1 = aTxt[0].value;
var txt2 = aTxt[1].value;
var txt3 = aTxt[2].value;
var txt4 = aTxt[3].value;
total = parseInt(txt1) + parseInt(txt2) + parseInt(txt3) + parseInt(txt4) ;
return true;
}
Here's my html code :
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="UTF-8">
<title>Document</title>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="css/form.css" />
</head>
<body>
<section>
<form name="frm1">

</label>
<label> Valeur 2:

</form>
</section>
</body>
<script src="js/exercise4.js"></script>
</html>
It looks like your input for total is in the second form, so you need form[1] and also you need to use total.value to set the value:
var total = document.forms[1].tEx2;
...
total.value = parseInt(txt1) + parseInt(txt2) + parseInt(txt3) + parseInt(txt4) ;
Live example:
(function(){
var oForm = document.forms;
oForm[2].querySelector("input[type='button']").
addEventListener("click",
sommeValeur,
false);
}) ()
function sommeValeur() {
var aTxt = document.forms[0].tEx1;
var total = document.forms[1].tEx2;
var txt1 = aTxt[0].value;
var txt2 = aTxt[1].value;
var txt3 = aTxt[2].value;
var txt4 = aTxt[3].value;
total.value = parseInt(txt1) + parseInt(txt2) + parseInt(txt3) + parseInt(txt4) ;
return true;
}
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="UTF-8">
<title>Document</title>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="css/form.css" />
</head>
<body>

You are changing the total instance and not the total.value.
In the line total = ...+...+..+...; you are basically replacing the label with the sum. You should set the label text instead: total.value = ...+..+...+...;
