I keep on getting the error : "Value cannot be null" even if i'm checking for nulls.
This is part of my code:
<script type="text/javascript">
if (typeof #Model.Project.ProjectPricings.Count() != 'undefined' &&
#Model.Project.ProjectPricings.Count())
{
numberOfPricings = #Model.Project.ProjectPricings.Count();
}
sourceCodeList = '#Html.Raw(string.Join("", Model.SourceCodeList.Select(x => "<option></option><option value=" + x.SourceCode + ">" + x.SourceCode + "</option>")))';
targetCodeList = '#Html.Raw(string.Join("", Model.TargetCodeList.Select(x => "<option value="+ x.TargetCode + ">" + x.TargetCode + "</option>")))';
unitTypeCodeList = '#Html.Raw(string.Join("", Model.UnitTypeCodeList.Select(x => "<option value="+ x.UnitTypeCode + ">" + x.UnitTypeCode + "</option>")))';
currencyList = '#Html.Raw(string.Join("", Model.CurrencyList.Select(x => "<option value="+ x.CurrencyCode + ">" + x.CurrencyCode + "</option>")))';
serviceCodeList = '#Html.Raw(string.Join("", Model.ServiceCodeList.Select(x => "<option value="+ x.ServiceCode + ">" + x.ServiceCode + "</option>")))';
frequencyList = '#Html.Raw(string.Join("", Model.VolumeFrequencyList.Select(x => "<option value="+ x.VolumeFrequencyDescription + ">" + x.VolumeFrequencyDescription + "</option>")))';
#*$(document)
.ready(function() {
if (#Model.Project.Id == null) {
addPricing();
}
});*#
$('#submit-price-button').button();
$(".date").datepicker();
$(".combobox").SumoSelect({ search: true, searchText: 'Enter here.' });
</script>
By your description and the comment, my understanding is that you are having trouble when checking where #Model.Project.ProjectPricings.Count() has value, if has value set it.
your problem is you are mixing razor and javascript code for validating - in your case, it seems logical to check directly on the server side (hence razor)
so change your code to:
#if (Model.Project.ProjectPricings != null)
{
#:numberOfPricings = #Model.Project.ProjectPricings.Count();
}
// rest same

I'm getting the following error in my javascript. As the title states, this code is working on my localhost, but not when I put it onto my server
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'push' of null
at addItemToCart (shoppingCart.js:36)
at HTMLButtonElement.<anonymous> (shoppingCart.js:193)
at HTMLDocument.dispatch (jquery-1.11.1.min.js:3)
at HTMLDocument.r.handle (jquery-1.11.1.min.js:3)
I have identified that just before this push function is called that the cart variable is indeed null, but I declare it globally as an empty array, so I'm not sure why that would be.
Code for the function its failing on
var cart = [];
function addItemToCart(name, price, count, id, shortName) {
for (var i in cart) {
if (cart[i].id === id) {
cart[i].count += count;
saveCart();
for (var i in cart) {
if (cart[i].id == 500 && id != 500) {
removeItemFromCart(500);
alert('because you changed your cart, you will have to reapply your coupon');
}
}
return;
}
}
for (var i in cart) {
if (cart[i].id == 500 && id != 500) {
removeItemFromCart(500);
alert('because you changed your cart, you will have to reapply your coupon');
}
}
var item = new Item(name, price, count, id, shortName);
console.log(cart);
cart.push(item);
saveCart();
}
The error happens at teh cart.push(item); line because cart is null and can not be pushed to. Anymore information someone may need to help feel free and I will shoot it your way.
Thanks in advance!!!

#codenoname Provided the correct answer of checking for the null cart. That solved the issue, ultimately a lot of functions were not being defined properly. I had wrapped the entire code in a document ready function which seemed to be the issue. Whenever I removed that it worked. Thank you all for your input.
if (!cart) {
cart = [];
}
I'm facing a freak problem in jquery. When I try to populate a list from a table it becomes empty if it contains a special character like sid'ahmed. When I change it to sidi ahmed it works perfectly. This is my code to populate two lists:
$.getJSON("get-data.php?dat=driver", function(data) {
var stringToAppend1 = "<option value='" + day_Shift + "'>" + day_Shift + "</option>";
var stringToAppend2 = "<option value='" + night_Shift + "'>" + night_Shift + "</option>";
$.each(data, function(key, val) {
stringToAppend1 += "<option value='" + val.prenom + " / " + val.nom + " : " + val.telephone + "'>" + val.prenom + " / " + val.nom + " : " + val.telephone + "</option>";
stringToAppend2 += "<option value='" + val.prenom + " / " + val.nom + " : " + val.telephone + "'>" + val.prenom + " / " + val.nom + " : " + val.telephone + "</option>";
});
$("#night_Shift_text" + id).html(stringToAppend2);
$("#day_Shift_text" + id).html(stringToAppend1);
});
You should escape the single quote by using replace function as shown below. Use this replace whereever needed.
day_Shift = day_Shift.replace(/'/g, "\\'");
Hope this helps!!
I hope someone can help me out with this. I'm trying to dynamically build an HTML table in javascript/jquery based on iterating over an array built by earlier code. I am getting an error on the referenced line below as soon as the page loads:
function BuildForm (allFields) {
var dyndata = "";
var formstart = "<form>\n<fieldset class='fieldset-js'>\n<legend>Choose A Parent</legend>\n<table class='table-js'>\n<tr>\n<th class='th'>ID</th>\n<th class='th'>Name</th>\n<th class='th'>DOB</th>\n<th class='th'>Phone</th>\n</tr>\n<tr>";
$('#PickAParent-Form').append(formstart);
$.each(allFields, function (index, value) {
if ((index + 5) % 5 == 0) {
dyndata = "<tr>\n<td class='td1'><input type='radio' name='pid' value='" = index + "'>" + value + "</td>\n";
error here---------^
$('#PickAParent-Form').append(dyndata);
} elseif ((index +1 ) % 5 == 0) {
dyndata = "<td class='td1'>" + value + "</td>\n</tr>\n";
$('#PickAParent-Form').append(dyndata);
} else {
dyndata = "<td class='td1'>" + value + "</td>\n";
$('#PickAParent-Form').append(dyndata);
}
});
DisplayForm;
}
I have been all over Google and SO this AM but can't figure this one out. Any help is MUCH appreciated!!
This line:
dyndata = "<tr>\n<td class='td1'><input type='radio' name='pid' value='" = index + "'>" + value + "</td>\n";
should be:
dyndata = "<tr>\n<td class='td1'><input type='radio' name='pid' value='" + index + "'>" + value + "</td>\n";
Looks like you had an equals sign instead of a plus sign for variable to string conversion
Change it to:
dyndata = "<tr>\n<td class='td1'><input type='radio' name='pid' value='" + index + "'>" + value + "</td>\n";
Note:
value='" + index + "'
Instead of:
value='" = index + "'
I'm iterating with
function editRow(a) {
$("td").each(function () {
alert($(this).val())
});
}
which iterates through
$("tbody").append(
"<tr id = '" + trId + "'>" +
"<td name = 'nameRow' id = 'name" + idCt + "' value = 'test' > <strong>" + name + "</strong> </td>" +
"<td name = 'maxRow' id = 'max" + idCt + "' value = '" + max + "'>" + max + "</td>" +
"<td name = 'setRow' id = 'sets" + idCt + "' value = '" + sets + "'>" + sets + "</td>" +
"<td name = 'repRow' id = 'reps" + idCt + "' value = '" + reps + "'>" + reps + "</td>" +
"<td name = 'restRow' id = 'rest" + idCt + "' value = '" + rest + "'>" + rest + "</td>" +
"<td id = 'link" + idCt + "'><a href='#' onclick='return deleteRow(" + trId + ");' >Remove</a>" +
" | <a href='#' onclick='return editRow(" + idCt + ");'>Edit</a></td>" +
"</tr>"
);
The alter($(this).val()) is coming up the correct amount of times, but it is always just blank (not undefined)).
I know it's not that readable, but does anyone see an error?
Thanks!
.val() is a method which is only defined for input elements. Normal HTML elements don't have a value. You should use .html() or .text() to get the content of those elements
function editRow(a) {
$("td").each(function () {
alert($(this).text())
});
}
You should define non-standard attributes (like value for <td>) using the data- prefix
<td data-value="whatever">...</td>
Then you can use jQuery's .data() method to access those attributes
var tdDataValue = $(this).data('value');
The problem is that "td" - elements haven't values. They have inner HMTL. If you want to get td's content, you need to use $(this).html()
function editRow(a) {
$("td").each(function () {
alert($(this).html())
});
}
The val method is usually reserved for input tags. For td you can do either:
$(this).text();
or
$(this).attr('value');
simply try something like this
function editRow(a) {
$("td").each(function () {
alert(this.innerText);// reading inner text
alert($(this).attr('value'));// reading value attribute
});
}
This function is a problem:
function addInvoiceItemValue(name,pkwiu,netto,unit,qty,vat) {
if(vat == '23') v23 = " selected='selected'";
if(vat == '22') v22 = " selected='selected'";
if(vat == '8') v8 = " selected='selected'";
if(vat == '7') v7 = " selected='selected'";
if(vat == '5') v5 = " selected='selected'";
if(vat == '3') v3 = " selected='selected'";
if(vat == '0') v0 = " selected='selected'";
if(vat == 'zw') vzw = " selected='selected'";
var vatSelect = "<option value='23'"+v23+">23%</option><option value='22'"+v22+">22%</option><option value='8'"+v8+">8%</option><option value='7'"+v7+">7%</option><option value='5'"+v5+">5%</option><option value='3'"+v3+">3%</option><option value='0'"+v0+">0%</option><option value='zw'"+vzw+">zw.</option>";
var row = "<tr id='item" + itemID + "'><td><input size='30' maxlength='300' id='ii-name-" + itemID + "' name='ii-name-" + itemID + "' value='" + name + "'></td>";
row += "<td><input size='6' maxlength='50' id='ii-pkwiu-" + itemID + "' name='ii-pkwiu-" + itemID + "' value='"+pkwiu+"'></td>";
row += "<td><input size='6' maxlength='16' id='ii-netto-" + itemID + "' name='ii-netto-" + itemID + "' value='"+netto+"'></td>";
row += "<td><input size='5' maxlength='128' id='ii-unit-" + itemID + "' name='ii-unit-" + itemID + "' value='"+unit+"'></td>";
row += "<td><input size='5' maxlength='6' id='ii-qty-" + itemID + "' name='ii-qty-" + itemID + "' value='"+qty+"'></td>";
row += "<td><select id='ii-vat-" + itemID + "' name='ii-vat-" + itemID + "'>" + vatSelect + "</select></td>";
row += "<td><a onclick='delInvoiceItem(\"item" + itemID + "\")'><b>-</b> Usuń</a></td></tr>";
$('#invoiceItems tr:last').after(row);
itemID++;
}
Example execution:
addInvoiceItemValue('yyy','','676.76','','1','23');
addInvoiceItemValue('fgh','','777.00','','1','8');
And here is function that work's fine:
function addInvoiceItem() {
var vatSelect = "<option value='23'>23%</option><option value='22'>22%</option><option value='8'>8%</option><option value='7'>7%</option><option value='5'>5%</option><option value='3'>3%</option><option value='0'>0%</option><option value='zw'>zw.</option>";
var row = "<tr id='item" + itemID + "'><td><input size='30' maxlength='300' id='ii-name-" + itemID + "' name='ii-name-" + itemID + "' value=''></td>";
row += "<td><input size='6' maxlength='50' id='ii-pkwiu-" + itemID + "' name='ii-pkwiu-" + itemID + "' value=''></td>";
row += "<td><input size='6' maxlength='16' id='ii-netto-" + itemID + "' name='ii-netto-" + itemID + "' value='0'></td>";
row += "<td><input size='5' maxlength='128' id='ii-unit-" + itemID + "' name='ii-unit-" + itemID + "' value=''></td>";
row += "<td><input size='5' maxlength='6' id='ii-qty-" + itemID + "' name='ii-qty-" + itemID + "' value='1'></td>";
row += "<td><select id='ii-vat-" + itemID + "' name='ii-vat-" + itemID + "'>" + vatSelect + "</select></td>";
row += "<td><a onclick='delInvoiceItem(\"item" + itemID + "\")'><b>-</b> Usuń</a></td></tr>";
$('#invoiceItems tr:last').after(row);
itemID++;
}
The v23, v22, v8, v7, v5, v3, v0, vzw and itemdID are not always defined in all code paths.
This causes the script to fail.
You should change your function to
function addInvoiceItemValue(name,pkwiu,netto,unit,qty,vat) {
var vats = ['23','22','8','7','5','3','0','zw'];
var vatSelect = '';
for (var i = 0; i < vats.length; i++)
{
vatSelect += '<option value="'+vats[i]+'"';
if (vat == vats[i])
vatSelect += ' selected="selected"';
vatSelect += '>'+vats[i] + '%</option>';
}
var row = "<tr id='item" + itemID + "'><td><input size='30' maxlength='300' id='ii-name-" + itemID + "' name='ii-name-" + itemID + "' value='" + name + "'></td>";
row += "<td><input size='6' maxlength='50' id='ii-pkwiu-" + itemID + "' name='ii-pkwiu-" + itemID + "' value='"+pkwiu+"'></td>";
row += "<td><input size='6' maxlength='16' id='ii-netto-" + itemID + "' name='ii-netto-" + itemID + "' value='"+netto+"'></td>";
row += "<td><input size='5' maxlength='128' id='ii-unit-" + itemID + "' name='ii-unit-" + itemID + "' value='"+unit+"'></td>";
row += "<td><input size='5' maxlength='6' id='ii-qty-" + itemID + "' name='ii-qty-" + itemID + "' value='"+qty+"'></td>";
row += "<td><select id='ii-vat-" + itemID + "' name='ii-vat-" + itemID + "'>" + vatSelect + "</select></td>";
row += "<td><a onclick='delInvoiceItem(\"item" + itemID + "\")'><b>-</b> Usuń</a></td></tr>";
$('#invoiceItems tr:last').after(row);
itemID++;
}
but the itemID also has to be defined.
When is it SUPPOSED to be executing?
While this technically bad coding practice, test with this:
<a href='#' onClick="javascript: function('value');" > Click Me </a>
If you click, and it still doesn't work, it is an issue with your function. If you click and it works, the function is never being called in the first place.
You should also check your selector.
$('#invoiceItems tr:last').after(row);
Try adding it in a simpler place. Make another div,...
Then use the selector $('#result');
In any case, if your selector is bad, it will never execute and it won't throw an error b/c it never had cause to do what you told it. Now that I think about it, I think this is the issue.
Do me a favor and try
$('#invoiceItems tr:last').each(alert('exist???'));
If it doesn't alert, your selector is most likely not working. (For each thing that meets the criteria , do an alert)
