got some kind help here recently so I thought I'd ask couple more questions, 2 to be exact.
Problem 1.
This is related to one of my previous questions can be found here: PHP condition check fail
Here's the code:
<?php
$username = (isset($_GET['username']) ? $_GET['username'] : null);
$fileName = "users.txt";
$users = file_get_contents( $fileName );
$objUsers = json_decode( $users );
// iterate through the list and find John
for( $i = 0; $i < count($objUsers); $i++ ){
if($objUsers[$i]->username == $username){
echo '<div>John is found</div>';
} else {
echo '<div>John is NOT found</div>';
break;
}
}
?>
The trouble is now it always and everytime returns "John is found" even if I typed "Charles" into the username field as it iterates through the whole list and will eventually find "John", no matter what. The way I need to change the code is to return "John is found" only when "John" is typed into username field.
I think it is a relatively easy problem for those of you experts out there but my OOP experience is not very helpful with this syntax.
Problem 2.
I would like to trigger an ajax call after a click event has done some stuff.
Code:
$("#div1").click(function(){
// if condition is true
if (...){ // working
// then if this condition is also true
if (...){ // working
var link = "do-some-stuff.php" // working
$.notify("task is done"); // working
$.getJSON( link, function( input ){});
// how to refer to div2 or should i just paste the ajax function here?
// tried this latter one, no success
}
$("#div2").click(function(){
$.ajax({
url: "other-suff.php",
type: "GET",
success: function(data){
$('#div3').html(data);
}
});
}
Thanks for all the suggestions!
Regarding your problem 1:
<?php
$username = (isset($_GET['username']) ? $_GET['username'] : null);
$fileName = "users.txt";
$users = file_get_contents( $fileName );
$objUsers = json_decode( $users );
// iterate through the list and find John
for( $i = 0; $i < count($objUsers); $i++ ){
if($username=='John'){
if($objUsers[$i]->username == $username){
echo '<div>John is found</div>';
} else {
echo '<div>John is NOT found</div>';
break;
}
}else{
echo '<div>You are not looking for John</div>';
}
}
?>
added an if to see if you tiped John -> look for John in the txt. Else alert that you didn't type John in the box

I want to get variable rating_idex in my php file so if is user click button #add-review it should pass in ajax variable and it will get array in php file and send review to the database, but it is not working and I don't see solution
$('#add-review').click(function(){
var user_name = $('#reviewer-name').val();
var user_review = $('#review').val();
console.log(user_name);
console.log(rating_index);
console.log(user_review);
if(user_name == '' || user_review == '')
{
alert("Please Fill Both Field");
return false;
}
else
{
$.ajax({
url:"rating-data.php",
method:"GET",
data:{
rating_index: rating_index,
user_name: user_name,
user_review: user_review
},
success:function(data)
{
$('#review_modal').modal('hide');
load_rating_data();
console.log(data);
}
})
}
});
This is my php code when I can get the variable and send them to the database:
<?php
include 'connection.php';
echo ($rating_index);
if(isset($_GET["rating_index"]))
{
$data = array(
':user_name' => $_GET["user_name"],
':user_rating' => $_GET["rating_index"],
':user_review' => $_GET["user_review"],
':datetime' => time()
);
$query = "
INSERT INTO review_table
(user_name, user_rating, user_review, datetime)
VALUES (:user_name, :user_rating, :user_review, :datetime)
";
$query_run = mysqli_query($conn, $query);
if($query_run){
echo "Your Review & Rating Successfully Submitted";
} else{
echo '<script type="text/javascript"> alert("Something went wrong") </script>';
echo mysqli_error($conn);
}
}
?>
When I am trying to echo ($rating_index) it give me feedback that variable does not exist so it is something with ajax but can't find solution, thanks in advance for any solutions
Instead of echo ($rating_index); try echo ($_GET["rating_index"]); reason being you didn't actually declared $rating_index
if I'm not wrong you want to pass the PHP variable in javascript?
if yes you cant pass the PHP variable in js like this.
var x = " < ? php echo"$name" ? >";
you can pass your PHP variable like this but in only the .php file not in the .js
Ok where to start, I will try and explain as much as I can.
I am using wordpress with contact form 7 and I am trying to populate 3 dropdown items on the contact form, I found some code that I was able to use with no problem but the problem with this was that it was getting the information from a excel file, the file is now to big and will not run on my website anymore so I would like to get the information from my database now.
I have made a table in my database "vehicle_information" with 3 columns "vehicle_type", "vehicle_make", vehicle_model"
I have code in my functions.php and code in my footer to be able to use the cf7 shortcodes.
Code from funtions.php
function ajax_cf7_populate_values() {
//MySQLi information
$db_host = '***';
$db_username = '***';
$db_password = '***';
$vehicles_makes_models = array();
//connect to mysqli database (Host/Username/Password)
$connection = mysqli_connect($db_host, $db_username, $db_password) or die('Error ' . mysqli_error());
//select MySQLi dabatase table
$vehicles_makes_models = mysqli_select_db($connection, 'vehicle_information') or die('Error ' . mysqli_error());
$sql = mysqli_query($connection, 'SELECT * FROM vehicle_type');
while($row = mysqli_fetch_array($sql)) {
$vehicles_makes_models[$row[0]][$row[1]][] = $row[2]; }
}
// setup the initial array that will be returned to the the client side script as a JSON object.
$return_array = array(
'vehicles' => array_keys($vehicles_makes_models),
'makes' => array(),
'models' => array(),
'current_vehicle' => false,
'current_make' => false
);
// collect the posted values from the submitted form
$vehicle = key_exists('vehicle', $_POST) ? $_POST['vehicle'] : false;
$make = key_exists('make', $_POST) ? $_POST['make'] : false;
$model = key_exists('model', $_POST) ? $_POST['model'] : false;
// populate the $return_array with the necessary values
if ($vehicle) {
$return_array['current_vehicle'] = $vehicle;
$return_array['makes'] = array_keys($vehicles_makes_models[$vehicle]);
if ($make) {
$return_array['current_make'] = $make;
$return_array['models'] = $vehicles_makes_models[$vehicle][$make];
if ($model) {
$return_array['current_model'] = $model;
}
}
}
// encode the $return_array as a JSON object and echo it
echo json_encode($return_array);
wp_die();
// These action hooks are needed to tell WordPress that the cf7_populate_values() function needs to be called
// if a script is POSTing the action : 'cf7_populate_values'
add_action( 'wp_ajax_cf7_populate_values', 'ajax_cf7_populate_values' );
add_action( 'wp_ajax_nopriv_cf7_populate_values', 'ajax_cf7_populate_values' );
Code from my footer
<script>
(function($) {
// create references to the 3 dropdown fields for later use.
var $vehicles_dd = $('[name="vehicles"]');
var $makes_dd = $('[name="makes"]');
var $models_dd = $('[name="models"]');
// run the populate_fields function, and additionally run it every time a value changes
populate_fields();
$('select').change(function() {
populate_fields();
});
function populate_fields() {
var data = {
// action needs to match the action hook part after wp_ajax_nopriv_ and wp_ajax_ in the server side script.
'action' : 'cf7_populate_values',
// pass all the currently selected values to the server side script.
'vehicle' : $vehicles_dd.val(),
'make' : $makes_dd.val(),
'model' : $models_dd.val()
};
// call the server side script, and on completion, update all dropdown lists with the received values.
$.post('<?php echo admin_url( 'admin-ajax.php' ) ?>', data, function(response) {
all_values = response;
$vehicles_dd.html('').append($('<option>').text(' -- choose vehicle -- '));
$makes_dd.html('').append($('<option>').text(' -- choose make -- '));
$models_dd.html('').append($('<option>').text(' -- choose model -- '));
$.each(all_values.vehicles, function() {
$option = $("<option>").text(this).val(this);
if (all_values.current_vehicle == this) {
$option.attr('selected','selected');
}
$vehicles_dd.append($option);
});
$.each(all_values.makes, function() {
$option = $("<option>").text(this).val(this);
if (all_values.current_make == this) {
$option.attr('selected','selected');
}
$makes_dd.append($option);
});
$.each(all_values.models, function() {
$option = $("<option>").text(this).val(this);
if (all_values.current_model == this) {
$option.attr('selected','selected');
}
$models_dd.append($option);
});
},'json');
}
})( jQuery );
The problem is I am still learning and this is the first time I have had to use this funtion.
and I am getting an error on my website
Warning: array_keys() expects parameter 1 to be array, null given in /customers/4/0/0/motobid.co.uk/httpd.www/wp-content/themes/storevilla-child/functions.php on line 38 {"vehicles":null,"makes":[],"models":[],"current_vehicle":false,"current_make":false}
any help would be very greatful.
Just like to say code was supplied by BDMW.
Where you use the method array_keys(), instead of:
$return_array['makes'] = array_keys($vehicles_makes_models[$vehicle]);
Try this:
$return_array['makes'] = ! empty($vehicles_makes_models[$vehicle]) ? array_keys($vehicles_makes_models[$vehicle]) : [];
From what I've read, the array_keys() has been an issue depending on php versions. Hope this helps!
I'm having a bit of trouble with some Myqsli query.
$sqlselect = "SELECT visitatori_id FROM visitatori WHERE visitatori_nome='".$nome."' AND visitatori_cognome='".$cognome."' AND
visitatori_orastart='".$time."' AND visitatori_idsede='".$idsede."'";
if ($conn->query($sqlselect) === TRUE)
{
$resultz = $conn->query($sqlselect);
$rowz = $resultz->fetch_assoc();
$id = $rowz["visitatori_id"];
$data = date('dmY');
$arr = $id."/".$data.$idref.$idrep.$idsede;
$JSON->value = $arr;
$json = json_encode($JSON);
echo $json;
break;
}
else
{
$JSON->value = $conn->error;
$json = json_encode($JSON);
echo $json;
break;
}
The query launched on the DB works with no problems at all.
But if i try to launch it in the PHP code, the if returns false, and the $conn->error is just "".
I've searched a lot but I couldn't find anything that could at least show to me the errors.
EDIT
I know this code can be injected, but before the mysqli statements I've always done some tests with normal query, anyway thanks for the reminder.
You're condition check needs to either check for "not false" or for a loose true (==)(mysqli_query returns mysqli_result object on successful select and false on failure: http://php.net/manual/en/mysqli.query.php).. and you are executing the same query twice when I'm sure you do not mean to. Also, as others have said, this code is prone to injection (see: http://php.net/manual/en/mysqli.real-escape-string.php, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SQL_injection).
if( ($res = $link->query($queryString)) ){
if( $res->num_rows > 0 ){
$row = $res->fetch_assoc();
/* Do something with result */
}else{
/* No results, do something else */
}
}
and before this point... you should escape all necessary data to avoid injection attack:
$link->escape_string($aString);
I need to get a value inside a div content. After a button click and doing stuff on the server side, my PHP function does:
echo "0";
or
echo "1";
depending on what my function does. So let's say if it's 0, the AJAX response will be $("div#divResult").html(data); where I put the 0 in the div divResult.
What I am trying to do now is I want to execute a js function to read whether it's 0 or 1 in divResult.
This is how I execute it:
<div id="divResult"><script>getDivResult();</script></div>
And my js function:
function getDivResult()
{
var result = $("div#divResult").text();
if(result === "0")
{
alert("Badge Number already exists, please check again.");
}
else if(result === "1")
{
alert("Your details have been entered!")
ADD_USER_POPUP.close;
}
}
Somehow the getDivResult function is not executing. The 0 and 1 does display on in the div though. Any help on this? I've tried .html too by the way.
EDIT:
Here's the AJAX that I use for the button click and return the response from PHP which is either 1 or 0:
$.post(page, {
name : name,
badge_number : badge_number,
category : category,
priviledge : priviledge,
action : "insert"
}, function(data) {
$("div#divResult").html(data);
});
2nd EDIT:
function insertRow($name, $badge_number, $priviledge, $category)
{
$table_info = "TBL_USER_LOGIN";
$query_string = "select badge_number from $table_info where badge_number = $badge_number";
$result = #mysql_query($query_string) or die (mysql_error());
$checkBadge = mysql_num_rows($result);
if($checkBadge>0)
{
//echo "Badge Number $badge_number already exists. Please check again.";
echo "0";
}
else
{
$query_string = "insert into $table_info(name, badge_number, priviledge, category) values('$name', '$badge_number', '$priviledge', '$category')";
$result = #mysql_query($query_string) or die (mysql_error());
//echo "Your details have been entered! Please click on 'View Users' to display all users.";
echo "1";
}
?>
<?php
$action = rtrim($_REQUEST['action']);
if($action=="delete")
{
$id = rtrim($_REQUEST['id']);
$order = $_REQUEST['order'];
echo deleteRow($id);
echo selectAll($order);
}
elseif($action=="insert")
{
$name = $_REQUEST['name'];
$badge_number = $_REQUEST['badge_number'];
$priviledge = $_REQUEST['priviledge'];
$category = $_REQUEST['category'];
echo insertRow($name, $badge_number, $priviledge, $category);
}
elseif($action=="update")
{
$order = $_REQUEST['order'];
echo selectAll($order);
}
?>
You shouldn't need to append the return data to the page at all. Why don't you run your function immediately after the AJAX request completes, like so:
$.ajax({
success: function(data) {
if(data === "0") {
alert("Badge Number already exists, please check again.");
}
else if(data === "1") {
alert("Your details have been entered!")
ADD_USER_POPUP.close();
}
}
});
place getDivResult() to onclick in which button you click like
< button onclick="getDivResult()">Click me< /button>"
i think it will be work with you.
enclose the echo with a div then trying getting the value by the id.
or
try echoing via json enconde
json_encode
then fetch the value by using AJAX
i think, this script <script>getDivResult();</script> was replaced the content of #divResult by ajax code $("div#divResult").html(data);. Instead of that, place the script inside head section rather than inside #divResult to execute that.
Where is your ajax? How do you do it?
It looks like you're using jQuery. Try reading the documentation
https://api.jquery.com/jquery.get/
You can try something like this:
$.get( "ajax/test.html", function( data ) {
if(data === "0")
{
alert("Badge Number already exists, please check again.");
}
else if(data === "1")
{
alert("Your details have been entered!")
ADD_USER_POPUP.close;
}
});
data should be your 0 or 1
When you do .html(data) all the existing elements wipedoff and replaced by new content:
$("div#divResult").html(data);
I guess you should do this:
$("div#divResult").html(data);
getDivResult(); // call after it. and put the function globally.
Run your function
getDivResult();
after
$("div#divResult").html(data);
in ajax
I have a function in php that need an id and i need to add a variable in my ajax url the id
PHP Code:
function get_json_selected($purpose)
{
//echo $this->input->post("ids");
$ids = explode(",", $this->input->post("ids"));
$site_url = site_url($this->router->class);
if ($purpose == "EQUIPEMENT"){
$this->db->select(
'a.id,
a.manufacturer,
a.description,
a.serial_no,
a.part_no,
a.status,
a.availability,
getReturnStatus(a.id) as return_status',
FALSE
);
$this->db->where_in('a.id', array_unique($ids));
$result = $this->db->get("equipments a")->result_array();
echo json_encode(array("spares" => $result));
} else {
$this->db->select(
'a.id,
a.manufacturer,
a.description,
a.serial_no,
a.part_no,
a.status,
a.availability,
getReturnStatus(a.id) as return_status',
FALSE
);
$this->db->where_in('a.id', array_unique($ids));
$result = $this->db->get($this->active_table." a")->result_array();
echo json_encode(array("spares" => $result));
}
}
Ajax Code:
this is just example of the variable of id.
$purpose = "EQUIPMENT"; // how can i add this php variable to ajax url
url: "<?=site_url('equip_request/get_json_selected');?>", // this is the current code how can i add id in this url
or is this code right?
url: "<?=site_url('equip_request/get_json_selected/'.$purpose);?>"
var purpose = '<?php echo json_encode($purpose); ?>';
url: 'example.php?=' + purpose;
+ is the concatenator in javascript. hope this helps. spend plenty of time and add plenty of security to echoing that var into javascript. else you could find yourself viction of xss.
