My code looks like this :
$(document).on('click', 'a[href^="#"]', function(e) {
var id = $(this).attr('href');
var $id = $(id);
if ($id.length === 0) {
return;
}
e.preventDefault();
var pos = $id.offset().top;
$('body, html').animate({scrollTop: pos});
});
body{
min-height: 1000px
}
div{
min-height: 300px;
margin: 20px 0;
background: red
}
#section-2{
background: blue
}

I'm trying to create a sidebar toggle which would change a couple of things in the CSS but I can't quite get it to work.
I have a DIV which is currently changing it's input on hover from SITENAME.COM to MENU. I want the div #site-name to toggle the sidebar on the left.
The DIV #site-name is inside a container/wrapper DIV called #body.
It toggles correctly, but it will not reset the body margin back to 0. After opening the sidebar, the wrapper div keeps the margin set by the open function.
I haven't coded for a while so any help would be appreciated.
<div id="site-name" onclick='openNav();'>MAN&WOLF.MEDIA</div>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready( function()
{
var cart_visible = false;
$('#site-name').on('click', function()
{
if ( cart_visible )
$('#mySidebar').css('margin-left', '-250px');
else
$('#mySidebar').css('margin-left', '0px');
$('#body').css('margin-left', '0px');
cart_visible = !cart_visible;
});
});
</script>
You did not set the margin-left attribute to #body when opening up the side bar.
if ( cart_visible ) {
$('#mySidebar').css('margin-left', '-250px');
$('#body').css('margin-left', '0px');
} else {
$('#mySidebar').css('margin-left', '0px');
$('#body').css('margin-left', '250px');
}
I think the problem is that you didn't wrap your else block in brackets. So the line: $('#body').css('margin-left', '0px'); is called whether you're opening or closing the menu.
$(document).ready(function() {
var cart_visible = false;
$('#site-name').on('click', function() {
if (cart_visible) {
$('#mySidebar').css('width', '0');
$('#body').css('margin-left', '0');
} else {
$('#mySidebar').css('width', '250px');
$('#body').css('margin-left', '250px');
}
cart_visible = !cart_visible;
});
});
body {
margin: 0;
}
#body {
background-color: lightblue;
height: 100vh;
}
#mySidebar {
width: 0px;
height: 100vh;
background-color: coral;
margin-left: -250px;
position: absolute;
top: 0;
}

After getting my last problems solved properly I've got a second problem.
I've got a div which is fixed. Inside of the fixed div is another div which is scrollable. I want to achieve that if I scroll anywhere on the page, even out of the scrollable div, that the scroll action only applies to the scrollable div, not the fixed div.
I made an example of the problem. I want to achieve that if I am scrolling anywhere, even in the red part, that the scroll action is in the red div.
Demo:
$(window).scroll(function () {
var s = $(this).scrollTop();
var row1 = $('#row1');
if(s>500){
row1.css({
'position': 'relative'
});
}
});
.timeline {
position: relative;
max-width: 1200px;
margin: 0 auto;
overflow: scroll;
height: 100vh;
}
#row1 {

first of all I know this same questions has been asked several times but I cannot get it working properly. On the website Im implementing I open a popUp with some info and then prevent the rest of the body from scrolling. I want to allow to scroll the popup but not the menu. Also avoid using "position: fixed" on the body since it moves the page to the top. What am I missing to prevent the body from scrolling? The body already has the propierty "overflow: hidden". Here is the code I developed:
http://www.produccionsf2f.com/equipo/
HTML:
The overlay to cover the body:
<div id="scid-overlay" class="x-section scid-transition-eio overlay-open" style="margin: 0px;padding: 0px; background-color: hsla(0, 0%, 1%, 0.69);"><div class="x-container max width" style="margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;height: 0;">
The actual popup:
<div id="scid-overlay" class="x-section scid-transition-eio overlay-open" style="margin: 0px;padding: 0px; background-color: hsla(0, 0%, 1%, 0.69);">
JS:
jQuery(function($){
var overlay = $('#scid-overlay');
var visiblePanel;
$(".scid-hook-link").click(function(event){
openPanel(event);
});
$('.scid-close-button').click(function(event) {
closePanel(event);
});
overlay.click(function(event) {
closePanel(event);
});
function openPanel(event){
event.preventDefault();
var id = $(event.target).attr('id').replace('hook', 'popup');
$(event.target).closest('figure').addClass(' scid-popup');
document.querySelector('#' + id).className += (' scid-panel-open');
overlay.removeClass('overlay-close');
overlay.addClass('overlay-open');
sizePanel(id);
window.location.hash = "#" + id;
visiblePanel = document.querySelector('.scid-panel-open');
};
function closePanel(event){
if(event){
event.preventDefault();
}
if(visiblePanel) {
var id = visiblePanel.id;
console.log(id)
console.log(visiblePanel);
document.querySelector('.scid-popup').classList.remove('scid-popup');
visiblePanel.classList.remove('scid-panel-open');
overlay.removeClass('overlay-open');
overlay.addClass('overlay-close');
sizePanel(id);
}
}
function sizePanel(id) {
var panel = document.querySelector( '#' + id);
if (panel.offsetHeight == 0) {
panel.style.height = panel.scrollHeight + 'px';
} else {
panel.style.height = 0 +'px';
window.location.hash = "";
visiblePanel = null;
}
};
window.onhashchange = function() {
if(visiblePanel && window.location.hash != '#' + visiblePanel.id){
closePanel();
}
}
});
CSS:
.overlay-close {
height: 0;
opacity: 0;
}
.overlay-open {
height: 100%;
opacity: 1
overflow: scroll;
overflow-y: auto;
visibility: visible;
z-index: 69;
}
Body overflow is working fine but you also given overflow-x: scroll to HTML Tag that is creating scrollbar.
You have to remove style of html in your css
html{
overflow-x: hidden;
}
Then overflow on body will be working fine.

I am trying to create a sliding menu which will fill the window width minus the puller button width. I want the menu out of the window when web page load and there is a button which will go left when the page loads. When user clicks on the button the menu should come to window and button goes right.
I have created an animation video here which will show you what I want.
In the jsfiddle the menu just fades out, But I want the menu to slide from left to right when clicked on button with .puller class.
See the code at jsfiddle
Demo on jsfiddle
$(document).ready(function() {
var stickyNavTop = ($('.container')).offset().top;
var stickyNav = function(){
var scrollTop = $(window).scrollTop();
if (scrollTop > stickyNavTop) {
$('.container').addClass('fixed');
} else {
$('.container').removeClass('fixed');
}
};
stickyNav();
$(window).scroll(function() {
stickyNav();
}).resize(function() {
stickyNav();
}).load(function() {
stickyNav();
});
$(".dropdown").click(function() {
$(".dpitem").slideToggle(300);
});
var calcWidth = function() {
var pullerDimensions = $('.puller').width();
$('#cpcc,.dpitem').width($(window).width() - pullerDimensions);
}
$(document).ready(function() {
calcWidth();
});
$(window).resize(function() {
calcWidth();
}).load(function() {
calcWidth();
});
var cPcc = document.getElementById ("cpcc");
var cpHeight = function() {
var cpBtnHolder = $(cPcc).height();
$('.content').css("padding-top",cpBtnHolder);
}
setInterval(function() {
cpHeight();
calcPHeight();
pp();
}, 0)
var calcPHeight = function() {
var toolsDimensions = $('#cpcc').height();
$('.puller').height(toolsDimensions);
$('.puller').css("line-height",toolsDimensions +"px");
}
$(document).ready(function() {
calcPHeight();
});
$(window).resize(function() {
calcPHeight();
}).load(function() {
calcPHeight();
});
var Pwidth = $('#cpcc').width();
var PSpce = $(window).width()-Pwidth;
$(".puller").click(function() {
$(".container").toggle( function() {
$(".container").css({
transform: "translate3d("+"-"+Pwidth+"px, 0, 0)"
});
}, function () {
$(".container").css({
transform: "translate3d(-0, 0, 0)"
});
});
});
});
Calc is your friend. You can use that along with 'transition' to achieve the intended effect. Check out this simplified example.
http://codepen.io/anon/pen/gPBQOb
Good practice is to toggle a class which will override the position property in this case left. It should also toggle your chevron image to point left and right.
Your example is using a lot of js calculations and has to recalculate with window size changes. This example uses js only to toggle a css class on click and the rest in managed purely with css. Much simpler in my opinion.
HTML
<div class="maincontent"></div>
<div class="menu">
<div class="button"></div>
</div>
CSS
.maincontent{
background-color: green;
height: 2000px;
width: 100%;
}
.menu{
background-color: red;
width: 100%;
height: 200px;
position: fixed;
top: 0px;
left: 0px;
transition: left 1s;
}
.menu.collapse{
left: calc(-100% + 30px)
}
.button{
background-color: yellow;
height: 100%;
width: 30px;
position: absolute;
right: 0px;
}
JS
$('.button').click(
function(){
$('.menu').toggleClass('collapse')
})
I am adapting the Coverflow technique to work with a div. Following is the html:
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<style type="text/css" media="screen">
body,html {
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
background: #000;
height: 100%;
color: #eee;
font-family: Arial;
font-size: 10px;
}
div.magnifyme {
height: 80px;
padding: 80px;
position: absolute;
top: 0px;
left: 0px;
width: 2000px;
}
div.wrapper {
margin: 0px;
height: 470px;
/*border: 2px solid #999;*/
overflow: hidden;
padding-left: 40px;
right: 1px;
width: 824px;
position: relative;
}
div.container {position: relative; width: 854px; height: 480px; background: #000; margin: auto;}
div.nav {position: absolute; top: 10px; width: 20%; height: 10%; right: 1px; }
div.magnifyme div {
position: absolute;
width: 300px;
height: 280px;
float: left;
margin: 5px;
position: relative;
border: 2px solid #999;
background: #500;
}
</style>
<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-1.3.2.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="ui.coverflow.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="ui.core.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(function() {
$("div.magnifyme").coverflow();
$("#add").click(function() {
$(".magnifyme").append("<div id=\"div5\">hello world</div>");
$("div.magnifyme").coverflow();
});
});
</script>
</head>
<body>
<div class="container">
<div class="wrapper">
<div class="magnifyme">
<div id="div0">This is div 0</div>
<div id="div1">This is div 1</div>

The coverflow function (included as a js file in the head section) is here. When I click the button, I was expecting it to add a DIV to the already present deck. For some reason, it doesn't show the newly added DIV. I tried calling the coverflow() function after I added the new element but that didn't work either. The modified coverflow function is given here:
;(function($){
$.widget("ui.coverflow", {
init: function() {
var self = this;
this.items = $(this.options.items, this.element).bind("click", function() {
self.moveTo(this);
//$("div.slider").slider("moveTo", self.current, null, true);
});
this.itemWidth = this.items.outerWidth(true);
this.current = 0; //Start item
this.refresh(1, 0, this.current);
this.element.css("left",
(-this.current * this.itemWidth/2)
+ (this.element.parent()[0].offsetWidth/2 - this.itemWidth/2) //Center the items container
- (parseInt(this.element.css("paddingLeft")) || 0) //Subtract the padding of the items container
);
},
moveTo: function(item) {
this.previous = this.current;
this.current = !isNaN(parseInt(item)) ? parseInt(item) : this.items.index(item);
if(this.previous == this.current) return false; //Don't animate when clicking on the same item
var self = this, to = Math.abs(self.previous-self.current) <=1 ? self.previous : self.current+(self.previous < self.current ? -1 : 1);
$.fx.step.coverflow = function(fx) {
self.refresh(fx.now, to, self.current);
};
this.element.stop().animate({
coverflow: 1,
left: (
(-this.current * this.itemWidth/2)
+ (this.element.parent()[0].offsetWidth/2 - this.itemWidth/2) //Center the items container
- (parseInt(this.element.css("paddingLeft")) || 0) //Subtract the padding of the items container
)
}, {
duration: 1000,
easing: "easeOutQuint"
});
/*current = this.current;
$("[id^=div]").each(function() {
if(this.id != "div"+current) {
console.info(this.id + " Current: " + current);
$(this).fadeTo( 'slow', 0.1);
}
});*/
},
refresh: function(state,from,to) {
var self = this, offset = null;
this.items.each(function(i) {
var side = (i == to && from-to < 0 ) || i-to > 0 ? "left" : "right";
var mod = i == to ? (1-state) : ( i == from ? state : 1 );
var before = (i > from && i != to);
$(this).css({
webkitTransform: "matrix(1,"+(mod * (side == "right" ? -0.5 : 0.5))+",0,1,0,0) scale("+(1+((1-mod)*0.5))+")",
left: (
(-i * (self.itemWidth/2))
+ (side == "right"? -self.itemWidth/2 : self.itemWidth/2) * mod //For the space in the middle
),
zIndex: self.items.length + (side == "left" ? to-i : i-to)
});
if(!$.browser.msie)
$(this).css("opacity", 1 - Math.abs((side == "left" ? to-i : i-to))/2);
});
}
});
$.extend($.ui.coverflow, {
defaults: {
items: "> *"
}
});
})(jQuery);
One thing I did notice is that after clicking the button for about 5-10 times, the elements show up but not along with the already present divs but rather below them. I am guessing that this has something to do with the CSS of the magnifyme class (2000px), but I am not sure what it is. Is there any way I can make this work?
You need to write an additional function for the coverflow widget:
add: function(el) {
var self = this;
this.element.append(el)
this.options.items = $('> *', this.element);
this.items = $(this.options.items, this.element).bind("click", function() {
self.moveTo(this);
});
this.itemWidth = this.items.outerWidth(true);
this.moveTo(this.items.length-1);
},
and then call it like so:
$("#add").click(function() {
$("div.magnifyme").coverflow('add', "<div></div>");
});
First, you need to add a references to the jQuery UI core, and it also appears that it requires the jQuery slider plugin.
Second, in your click event you're doing a location.reload, which is refreshing the page from the server, resetting any changes you had made to the page. (if you make the DIVs much smaller you can see one flash in before the page is reloaded).
You are getting a js error on the page -- "$.widget is not a function" because you didn't include the jqueryUI library. http://jqueryui.com/
Also if you remove the location.reload line, your code will work, however, I would rewrite that script block like this, so that everything clearly runs when the document is ready:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
$("div.magnifyme").coverflow();
$("#add").click(function() {
$(".magnifyme").append("<div id=\"div5\">hello world</div>");
$("div.magnifyme").coverflow();
});
});
</script>
