According to my research, the correct method is as follows:
db.orders.updateOne({_id: ObjectId("633a6a73dd9f8cce0029e53d")},{$set:{"orders.0.productDetails.0.status": "shipped"}})
And the result is :-

I have the above array and I want to sum the TotalTime where the EmployeeName is the same. It should return a new array with like entries combined and the TotalTime added. I've used the below but it only returns two values because of Map. Is there a way I can achieve this while still maintaining all the values in the original array?
const CombinedArray = Array.from(Employees.reduce(
(m, {EmployeeName, TotalTime}) => m.set(EmployeeName, (m.get(EmployeeName) || 0) + TotalTime,), new Map
), ([EmployeeName, TotalTime]) => ({EmployeeName, TotalTime}));
In the Map, set the value not to the cumulative total time for the employee so far, but to a whole employee object that contains the total time inside it. Spread the first object found so as not to mutate the input.
var Employees=[{id:"382740",PayrollID:"8117817425",EmployeeName:"Bob Jones",StartTime:"15:15:00.0000000",FinishTime:"18:15:00.0000000",BreakTime:"45",TotalTime:2,Comments:"Test",Rate:"19"},{id:"439617",PayrollID:"8117817425",EmployeeName:"Peter Pan",StartTime:"16:15:00.0000000",FinishTime:"21:15:00.0000000",BreakTime:"60",TotalTime:4,Comments:"Test",Rate:"32"},{id:"201636",PayrollID:"5042289623",EmployeeName:"Bob Jones",StartTime:"09:56:00.0000000",FinishTime:"11:56:00.0000000",BreakTime:"45",TotalTime:1.25,Comments:"Test Comments",Rate:"19"},{id:"799653",PayrollID:"5042289623",EmployeeName:"Clarke Kent",StartTime:"16:49:00.0000000",FinishTime:"21:49:00.0000000",BreakTime:"60",TotalTime:4,Comments:"Test",Rate:"19"},{id:"951567",PayrollID:"5042289623",EmployeeName:"Bob Jones",StartTime:"01:49:00.0000000",FinishTime:"16:49:00.0000000",BreakTime:"60",TotalTime:14,Comments:"Test",Rate:"10"}];
const m = new Map();
for (const emp of Employees) {
if (!m.has(emp.EmployeeName)) m.set(emp.EmployeeName, { ...emp });
else m.get(emp.EmployeeName).TotalTime += emp.TotalTime;
}

I'm trying to update the 'positionTitle' field of my graphData object with the 'positionTitle fields of my individualData array.
I need to do it accurately, both sets of data have 'accounts' which both have the same id and fullname for user, I was hoping to try and use this to do the matching.
I want the positionTitle's from the users with same account id or name (whichever is easier) to go into the objects fields.
This is currently what I have:
My Object (that i want to update):
graphData = {
"name": "Annual meetings",
"engagementAreas": [{
"id": "1",
"engagementTypes": [{
"name": "forestry",
"engagements": []
},
{
"name": "houses",
"engagements": [{
"name": "engagement1",
"members": [{
"id": "e334", "account": {
"id": "eefe", "fullName": "jim bean"
},
"position": {
"id": "3434",
"positionTitle": "Manager"
}
}]
}]
},
{
"name": "landscaping",
"engagements": [{
"name": "engagement1343",
"members": [{
"id": "e334", "account": {
"id": "123", "fullName": "john boer"
},
"position": {
"id": "4545",
"positionTitle": "Senior Manager"
}
}]
}]
}
]
},
{
"name": "community days",

},

"positionTitle": "Ultime Manager"
}
}]
}]
},
{

},
"position": {
"id": "35006",
"positionTitle": "Senior Ultimate Manager"
}
}]
}]
}]
}]
}
My array whose positionTitles I want to take:
IndividualData = [{
"account": {
"id": "001b000003WnPy1AAF",
"fullName": "jeff bint"
},
"positions": [{
"id": "a16b0000004AxeBAAS",

"positionTitle": "Managing Director",

"positionLevel": "4-Head of Business Unit/Head of Region",
"isPrimary": true,
"startDate": "2018-03-05",

}
]
The function I'm currently using, which does take the first positiontitle field of the array:
const updatedGraphTable = { ...graphData,
engagementAreas: graphData.engagementAreas.map(area => ({ ...area,
engagementTypes: area.engagementTypes.map(type => ({ ...type,
engagements: type.engagements.map(engagement => ({ ...engagement,
members: engagement.members.map(member => ({ ...member,
position: { ...member.position,
positionTitle: IndividualData[0].positions[0].positionTitle
}
}))
}))}))
}))
};
console.log(updatedGraphTable)
console.log('a' + JSON.stringify(updatedGraphTable))
my expected result with the positions updated:
updatedGraphData = {
"name": "Annual meetings",

Sure, the trick would be to first map your data into an object (so you don't have to search over both arrays all the time), and then conditionally set the value (as I saw that your first manager, doesn't really have a matching position).
So to create the dictionary for usage in your later model, you can first do
// first map the accountId to positions
const accountIdToPositionDict = individualData.reduce( (current, item) => {
current[item.account.id] = (item.positions.filter( position => position.isPrimary )[0] || {} ).positionTitle;
return current;
}, {} );
This would then have an object where accountIdToPositionDict["123"] would be Managing Director, and then change the duplicating logic into:
const updatedGraphTable = { ...graphData,
engagementAreas: graphData.engagementAreas.map(area => ({ ...area,
engagementTypes: area.engagementTypes.map(type => ({ ...type,
engagements: type.engagements.map(engagement => ({ ...engagement,
members: engagement.members.map(member => ({ ...member,
position: { ...member.position,
// use the found positionTitle, or the original one that was given
positionTitle: member.account && accountIdToPositionDict[member.account.id] || member.position.positionTitle
}
}))
}))}))
}))
};
Where the position would then be set based on the found accountId in the dictionary, or the original title if no match was found
const individualData = [{
"account": {
"id": "001b000003WnPy1AAF",
"fullName": "jeff bint"
},
"positions": [{
"id": "a16b0000004AxeBAAS",
"organizationId": "001b0000005gxmlAAA",
"organizationName": "a",
"positionTitle": "Senior Manager, Energy",

Try the code below.

member.position.positionTitle = accountPositions[member.account.id];

});
});
});
Why sum is undefined. What am I doing wrong?

data.forEach(function(d, index) {
if (Array.isArray(d.subCategory)) {
return (0 + addSum(d.subCategory));
} else {
document.write('<pre>' + JSON.stringify(d.val, 0, 4) + '</pre>');
return d.val;
}
});
}
var sum = addSum(testData1);
alert(sum);
Your return does not belong to addSum, it belongs to forEach, and that's why addSum returns nothing (undefined).
Array.prototype.forEach doesn't expect returning values, and cannot be used to calculate sum or something else.
You can utilize Array.prototype.reduce to achieve your result:
function sum(arr)
{
return arr.reduce(function(a, b) {
return Array.isArray(b.subCategory) ? a + sum(b.subCategory) : a + b.val;
}, 0);
}
sum(testData1);
Or using ECMAScript 6 arrow functions:
var sum = arr => arr.reduce((a, b) => Array.isArray(b.subCategory)
? a + sum(b.subCategory)
: a + b.val, 0);
Working JSFiddle demo.
From .forEach you can't return value, that's why you get undefined, for this case more suitable .reduce method
function addSum(data) {
return data.reduce(function (p, c) {
return p + (Array.isArray(c.subCategory) ? addSum(c.subCategory) : c.val);
}, 0);
}
Example
or if you want use .forEach you can do it like this
function addSum(data) {
return function sum(data, result) {
data.forEach(function (element) {
result = Array.isArray(element.subCategory)
? sum(element.subCategory, result)
: result + element.val;
});
return result;
}(data, 0);
}
Example
You can't return from your foreach, only from your function. Here's a working version of your function:
function addSum(data,tot) {
tot = tot || 0;
data.forEach(function(d, index) {
if (Array.isArray(d.subCategory)) {
tot = addSum(d.subCategory, tot);
} else {
tot += parseInt(d.val);
document.write('<pre>' + d.val + ' - ' + tot + ' </pre>');
}
});
return tot;
}
and a jsfiddle:
https://jsfiddle.net/mckinleymedia/uk5njxnp/
I agree that this should be simplified to a reduce function, but I thought it would also help to see how to modify what you did to make it work.
Return in the foreach function is for the callback and does not return from the addSum() function. Foreach callback return will not help in this case. Instead using some external variable for keeping the sum will do the trick.
The updated code below defines a variable sum inside the addSum() function and the return value of recursive call is added to it. The function will now return the calculated sum at the end.

I use this to parse it, however i have no luck
$(document).ready(function() {
$.ajax({
url: baseUrl + movieID +apiKey +detailUrl,
dataType: "jsonp",
success: getGenres,
});
});
function getGenres(data) {
var entries = data
genre = 0,
genre_list = '';
for (genre = 0; genre < entries.genres.name.length; genre++) {
genre_list.push(entries.genres.name[genre]);
}
document.getElementById('Genres').innerHTML = genre_list.join(', ');
Please Help
entries.genres is an Array. It has no .name property. You should be getting an error in your browser's developer console for accessing .length of undefined.
{
"adult": false,
"backdrop_path": "/8uO0gUM8aNqYLs1OsTBQiXu0fEv.jpg",
"belongs_to_collection": null,
"budget": 63000000,
"genres": [
{
"id": 28,
"name": "Action"
},
{
"id": 18,
"name": "Drama"
},
{
"id": 53,
"name": "Thriller"
}
],
...
}
So you need to iterate entries.genres, then push the .name of the current genre if that's what you want.
for (genre = 0; genre < entries.genres.length; genre++) {
genre_list.push(entries.genres[genre].name);
}
On a different note, you have two implicit globals.
var entries = data
genre = 0,
genre_list = '';
By forgetting the comma after var entries = data, the next two lines will implicitly create global variables since they're not part of the var statement.
That's why I always use leading commas for variable declarations. Makes it obvious when a comma is missing.
var entries = data
, genre = 0
, genre_list = '';
