friends,
I'm building single page website, which uses the jQuery function to scroll to an anchor, when the menu link is being selected. Here is the code I use:
(function($) {
var jump = function(e)
{
if (e) {
e.preventDefault();
var target = $(this).attr("href");
} else {
var target = location.hash;
}
$('html,body').animate(
{
scrollTop: $(target).offset().top - 150
}, 1500, 'swing', function()
{
location.hash = target - 150;
});
}
$('html, body').hide()
$(document).ready(function()
{
$('a[href^=#]').bind("click", jump);
if (location.hash) {
setTimeout(function() {
$('html, body').scrollTop(0).show()
jump()
}, 0);
} else {
$('html, body').show()
}
});
})(jQuery)
Now this function is called for all html 'a' elements with 'href'. I need to modify the function above, so it would work for all defined links except this one with the anchor #nav-menu:
<span></span>
Any suggestions would be very appreciated.
Jquery provide a set of built-in filters that you can use in your case you may use:
the built in filter not() as following:-
$("a[href^=#]:not([href=#nav-menu])").click(jump);
build you own business filter as following:-
$("a[href^=#]").filter(function() {
//you may here do whatever filteration business you want
return $(this).attr("href")!='#nav-menu';
}).click(jump);

I have a auto scroll function, there is a static arrow which lets the user scroll to the next section of the page. When the user reaches the "contact" section (the last page), I would like the arrow to hide as there is no other page to scroll down to.
Update -
Currently the navigation arrow dissapears on the last page but it also dissapears on the about and intro sections too.. How can i fix
Jquery - Updated v3
$(function() {
$('a.page-scroll').bind('click', function(event) {
var $anchor = $(this);
$('html, body').stop().animate({
scrollTop: $($anchor.attr('href')).offset().top
}, 1500, 'easeInOutExpo');
event.preventDefault();
});
});
function nextSection()
{
var scrollPos = $(document).scrollTop();
$('#section-navigator a').each(function () {
var currLink = $(this);
var refElement = $(currLink.attr("href"));
if (refElement.position().top > scrollPos) {
var $anchor = $(this);
$('html, body').stop().animate({
scrollTop: $($anchor.attr('href')).offset().top
}, 1500, 'easeInOutExpo');
event.preventDefault();
location.hash = "";
location.hash = currLink.attr("href");
if ($($anchor.attr('href')).attr('id') == "contact") {
$("div.page-scroll").hide();
}
return false;
}
});
}
HTML
<div class="page-scroll">
<img class="arrow-down page-scroll-btn" src="img/arrow_dark.png" onclick="nextSection()" />
</div>
Thanks!
By the looks of things you use the links as the id for the next selector so you should be using #contact in your if.
Also, you have closed the if bracket ) in the wrong place
if ($anchor.attr('href') == "#contact") {
}
If you want to compare it to the target divs id, then you need to do something like this:
if ($($anchor.attr('href')).attr('id') == "contact") {
$("div.page-scroll").hide();
}
But this would seem like extra processing to get the same result
Update
Given all your edits - none of them really helpful as they don't create an MCVE - and we seem to be moving further and further away from the original question. I would do the following:
Get rid of that jquery onclick binding function at the top of your jQuery as you are manually binding in the html, the change your next section function to:
function nextSection() {
var currentPos = $(document).scrollTop();
$('#section-navigator a').each(function() {
var currLinkHash = $(this).attr("href");
var refElement = $(currLinkHash);
if (refElement.offset().top > scrollPos) { // change this to offset
$('html, body').stop().animate({
scrollTop: refElement.offset().top // just use refElement
}, 1500, 'easeInOutExpo');
location.hash = "";
location.hash = currLinkHash;
if (refElement.attr('id') == "contact") { // hide the scroller if the id is contact
$("div.page-scroll").hide();
}
return false;
}
});
}
I tested the one or other solution of stackoverflow but it can't resolve my problem.
Here is the side:
http://web02980.p4.imv.de/
It's a wordpress-site and I want to use a simple jQuery function to scroll from a anchor to a headline.
Here is the jQuery code http://jsfiddle.net/5phLjjce/1/
In jsfiddle it works, but not on my site.
function scroll($) {
var $root = $('html, body');
$('a').click(function() {
var href = $.attr(this, 'href');
$root.animate({
scrollTop: $(href).offset().top
}, 500, function () {
window.location.hash = href;
});
return false;
});
}
jQuery(document).ready(function ($) {
scroll($);
});
I tested the jquery-file in the header and in the footer. I tested it in the generell jquery-file and in a extra file. Nothing want to scroll.
Thanks for help.
In your example, just replace var $root = $('html, body'); with var $root = $('.overflow');. It's just a specific thing in your HTML markup.
What I have is this:
$(document).ready(function(){$('a[href^="#"]').on('click',function(e){e.preventDefault();var t=$(this.hash).offset().top;$('.wrapper').animate({scrollTop:t,},1000)})});
and actually place divs everywhere as a reference such as:
<div id="about"></div>
It actually scrolls down to those reference points but I dont see the name in the url. When I scroll down and end up in the about section I want it to somehow show up like this www.site.com/#about
Any idea what I am doing wrong? The site used is a HTML document.
give a try to this
$(document).ready(function () {
$('a[href^="#"]').on('click', function (e) {
e.preventDefault();
var target = this.hash;
var t = $(this.hash).offset().top;
$('.wrapper').animate({
scrollTop: t,
}, 1000, function () {
window.location.hash = target;
});
});
});
You can use Html5 History API Good tutorial for using HTML5 History API (Pushstate?)
$(document).ready(function() {
$('a[href^="#"]').on('click',function(e) {
e.preventDefault();
var t = $(this.hash).offset().top;
$('.wrapper').animate({ scrollTop:t }, 1000);
history.pushState(null, null, location.href + $(this).href); // <- not sure whether your links are relative or absolute.. do change appropriately..
})
});
I'm trying to implement some JavaScript code I found here on stackoverflow to make a smooth transition between one link on a page and other section in other page using the standar:
<a href="example.html#anchor">
The issues is that when the user clik the link, 1 second white flash appears before the smooth scroolling makes. I dont like this behavior for the "User Experience"
How can I to prevent this?
The JavaScript:
(function($){
var jump=function(e)
{
if (e){
e.preventDefault();
var target = $(this).attr("href");
}else{
var target = location.hash;
}
$('html,body').animate(
{
scrollTop: $(target).offset().top
},1000, function()
{
location.hash = target;
});
}
$('html, body').hide()
$(document).ready(function()
{
$('a[href^=#]').bind("click", jump);
if (location.hash){
setTimeout(function(){
$('html, body').scrollTop(0).show()
jump()
}, 0);
}else{
$('html, body').show()
}
});
})(jQuery)
Thanks.
When a user clicks on the "Contact Me" button, i want the screen to slide to the #contact element, however cannot figure out how to do it. I've tried various different snippets of code and tried to tailor it to my needs, but nothing seems to work.
The site is here; http://dombracher.com/
Simply want the screen to slide to the div mentioned above, rather than quickly snap to it.
Thanks in advance.
$(document).ready(function() {
$("a[href^='#']").anchorAnimate()
});
jQuery.fn.anchorAnimate = function(settings) {
settings = jQuery.extend({
speed : 1100
}, settings);
return this.each(function(){
var caller = this
$(caller).click(function (event) {
event.preventDefault()
var locationHref = window.location.href
var elementClick = $(caller).attr("href")
var destination = $(elementClick).offset().top;
$("html:not(:animated),body:not(:animated)").animate({ scrollTop: destination}, settings.speed, function() {
window.location.hash = elementClick
});
return false;
})
})
}
You can animate window scroll by yourself
$(".menu2").click(function(){
$(document.body).animate({
"scrollTop": $("#contact").offset().top
}, 2000, "swing"); // animation time and easing
return false; // preventing default jump
});
Fiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/M8JE2/
Or use jquery plugin like http://flesler.blogspot.com/2007/10/jquerylocalscroll-10.html to make any/all local links work with animation.
Here it is , scrolls to the bottom of the page since your contact form is there:
jQuery(function () {
jQuery('#nav1 li.menu2').click(function (e) {
jQuery("html, body").stop().animate({
scrollTop: jQuery(document).height()
}, 1000);
e.preventDefault();
return false;
});
});
