JavaScript canvas make object shoot toward object - javascript

I'm new in JavaScript and I'm creating a kind of shooting game. I'm to make 1 object to move toward another object. So the "bullet" get the location of the "prey" and it will move toward it. I have no idea how to implement that, I can't find anything similar on the internet. So, I tried at first something simpler:
In the following code the "bullet" move to the left. How can I specify to move it toward an object?
I have 2 object. It's the enemyBullet object(not the bullet object) which should go toward another object.

Normalised vector
You need to find the normalised vector from one object to the next. A vector is just an arrow that has a direction and a length. In this case we normalise the length, that is make it equal to 1 unit long. We do this so we can easily set a speed when using the vector.

How would I make a collider that stops the game when it collides with the "character"?

I'm still pretty new to this, so I don't know how to create a collider. My end goal is to have a game like the chrome dinosaur game. Same principles, and all. My question is, though, how do I even make a collider. I will be using a .gif for the "dinosaur". I'd like to make it where if this collider were to touch another collider, the game stops and a "game over" is shown. I have tried to create a collider, but they just keep showing up underneath the screen where the game is shown. Ant tips, tricks, or advice? Thanks

this is a pretty classy way to do it and for a small game you really don't need all of this

The way I handled game states in my Processing games was by making seperate classes for them. Then my main sketch's draw function looked something like

Each gamestate then acted as their own sketches (for example a menu screen, playing, game over, etc), and had a reference to the main sketch which created the states. They would then alter the main's currentState to, i.e., a new GameOverState() etc. where needed.
For now, don't worry about doing that too much if all you want a really simple gameoverscreen with an image and some text.
I would suggest a structure like this instead. Use this pseudocode in your main draw function:

Now you need a way of checking for a collision to determine the result of checkGameOver()
For the collision handling, check out Jeffrey Thompson's book/website on collision handling. It's an amazing resource, I highly recommend you check it out.

And here's a modified version of the collision handling function listed there (I updated the variable names to be a little more intuitive)

You can use that function in your checkGameOver() function which would return a bool depending on whether your collision criteria are met.
For your game, you would loop over every obstacle in your game and check whether the dino and the obstacle overlap.

Collision check between vectors - moving vectors - HTML, JS, P5

I have created the collision check function for my player to every time when the object (in this case vector - circle) touches the player (also a vector - circle) the game is over.
I have managed to create a logic and there is a collision check working, however it's not calculating the actual distance between elements (instead of ending game when they actually touch its ending when they are some distance from each other.
Both objects are moving - obstacle is moving x+=6 and the player is following the coursor so the speed varies.
I have tried adjusting distance slightly and I have managed to end the game when the x of obstacle is touch x of the player but could not managed actually to when boarders touch. I attach the code I have below;

The issue is caused by the fact that the movement of the circles is 3 (this.mag) pixel. You just get the exact point of contact by chance. Most time they are intersecting.
If a collision is detected, change the player's position slightly by an offset of this.r + obstacle.r - d:

Natural Movement with Noise

Im creating an object that randomly moves in a natural way using noise like this (works as intended):
The objects encounter a collision and their trajectory is manipulated, the movement path now changes to straight line (words as intended)

The problem is after this movement , i want the object to start moving in a random direction again as it was initially. If i use the same function, the object jumps to the last location before the trajectory was modified.

Your problem is that you used a factor from 0 to 1 generated with noise and an incremented seed to generate the position by multiplying directly the world dimentions. When reaching food, you cannot increment the seed as to be in the exact position where the movement to get your food led you (I found no inverse function for noise to get the seed from the return value).
What you need to do instead is use the noise to increment or decrement the coordinates, so that no matter where the seed is, you don't loose your current position.
Here are the different corrections I applied to the code, as there were also syntax errors, I can't really paste the whole stuff here for copyright reasons (you didn't share the whole code here and the sketch belongs to you)
MAIN CORRECTION:
used a var found because returning from the forEach callback doesn't make you leave the findFood function, but the callback one. And the forEach loop doesn't stop. Using this var prevents the further forEach tests to be made and allows you to return from findFood so that no further move is made after seeing food.
noise is now applied to a value of 4 and I subtract 2, so that x and y now change with a range of -2 to 2 each. Of course, with this method, you need to check against world dimentions or else the rabbit could leave the world. The seed increment has been changed too or else it would vary too slowly (adapt values as you wish)

Javascript Canvas how to shoot in 360* from a rotating object

All my searching comes up with more general arc/sin/cos usage or shooting to the mouse position.
I am looking to aim and fire a projectile with the keyboard and have done a lot of it from scratch, as a noob in a web class doing a project, but I am stuck on this. My current math got me to this mess in firing the shot in the direction the line is currently pointing... (code names cleaned for readability):

... but, you'll see that it only works for 3/8's of it. What is the math to make this fire from a complete circle?
Use this as shoot function:

The /100 can be removed, but you have to reduce the projectile speed.
If you want to shoot gun2 change the P1gun to P2gun.
Normalising a vector.
To control the speed of something using a vector, first make the length of the vector 1 unit long (one pixel). This is commonly called normalising the vector, and sometimes it's called the unit vector. Then you can multiply that vector by any number to get the desired speed.
To normalise a vector first calculate its length, then divide it by that value.

Why normalise
Many many reasons, you build almost everything from unit vectors.
One example, if you have two points and want to move from one to the next at a speed of 10 pixels per second with a frame rate of 60frame per second.

NOTE when normalizing you may get a vector that has no length. If your code is likely to create such a vector you need to check for the zero length and take appropriate action. Javascript does not throw an error when you divide by zero, but will return Infinity, with very strange results to your animations.

How to get a collision function to work properly in Javascript?

I'm pretty close to finish this program using Canvas. This program is simply a ball that falls down from top to bottom and there's a basket that catches it, that is it. However, I have the following issues.
1) When I press the left or right arrows from keyboard for more than couple of times somehow the basket will go all the way to either left or right and disappear.
2) When the ball hits the basket nothing happens (my Collision detection function doesn't work properly). However, I should say that my collision detection works just fine when the balls hits the ground (alert message shows up saying "Ball hit the ground").
Is there a way to show a message on the top of the canvas like "1 point" every time the basket catches a ball ( if there are 5 balls then I should get a message to say "5 points")
Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong please? Thank you so much in advance!!

in your Pad.move function you could limit the change of x. You change it only when its within canvas width:

Pad was blocked because when key is pressed acceleration is always increased, so in order to move in opposite direction first it must go to 0 which takes quite some time. I have added keyup event and when key is released acceleration is zeroed:
