How to implement iterated, array-filling Angular 2 inputs? - javascript

I want to be able to add/remove items in an order and have them aggregate into an array to be sent to the backend. The data will look like:
CustomerName: Billy
Orders: [Pizza, Burger, Sushi]
Can't find any SO answers or documentation that gets into iterated input binding. Anyone attempted this? Template code:
<div>
<input
type="text"
name="name"
title="name"
placeholder="Customer Name"
[(ngModel)]="customerName"/>
</div>
<div *ngFor="let item of itemsInNewOrder; let i = index">
<input
type="text"
name="order"
title="order"
[(ngModel)]="itemsInNewOrder[index]"/>
</div>
inside the Add New button's click function:
...firebaseStuff... .push({name: name, order: this.itemsInNewOrder})
unfortunately, this doesn't work. Thanks in advance! :)
Edit 1: There are 2 buttons that trigger (respectively):
incrementItemsInNewOrder() {
this.itemsInNewOrder.push("")
}
decrementItemsInNewOrder() {
this.itemsInNewOrder.pop()
}

I can see one problem. You should use the variable i that you have declared in template.
<div *ngFor="let item of itemsInNewOrder; let i = index">
<input
type="text"
name="order"
title="order"
[(ngModel)]="itemsInNewOrder[i]"/> <------ HERE
</div>
EDIT
angular seems to be doing change detection when typing into the inputs and renders them again, when that happens you lose the focus.
but if you wrap the values into objects and suddenly it works.
Component:
itemsInNewOrder = [{value: 'Soda'}, {value: 'Burger'}, {value: 'Fries'}];
template:
<div *ngFor="let item of itemsInNewOrder; let i = index">
<input
type="text"
name="order"
title="order"
[(ngModel)]="itemsInNewOrder[i].value"/>
</div>

How to get id of a dynamic input field in javascript

I want to create a dynamic form where I also apply JavaScript to the dynamic elements.
What I want to do right now is figure out which field (stored in array or whatever data structure) in JavaScript has been clicked so that I can apply the script to that particular field.
The HTML looks like this:
<div class="triple">
<div class="sub-triple">
<label>Category</label>
<input type="text" name="category" id="category" placeholder="Classes/Instances" required/>
<ul class="cat-list"></ul>
</div>
<div class="sub-triple">
<label>Relation</label>
<input type="text" name="relation" id="relation" placeholder="Properties" required/>
<ul class="rel-list"></ul>
</div>
<div class="sub-triple">
<label>Value</label>
<input type="text" name="value" id="value" placeholder="Classes/Instances" required/>
<ul class="val-list"></ul>
</div>
</div>
This "triple" div is dynamic and I want to create as many "triples" as the user wants, that also means the input fields of inside the "triple" section increase as well.
I'm confused on how to add javascript to one element of the input. For example I have inputs: category, relation and value and the user wanted 2 or more triples then the input ids could look like category2, relation2 and value2 or something similar to that.
let category = document.getElementById("category");
category.addEventListener("keyup", (e) => {
removeElements();
listDown(category, sortedClasses, ".cat-list")
});
If I lets say clicked on category2 for instance how do I tell that to my javascript since these fields are completely dynamic.
Summary: The user is adding repeat sections of triples (containing 3 input elements), where the id of each input element is generated dynamically. My script above works for the first triple section only as the ids are fixed, as for successive "triple" section the id of the fields get changed. How do I identify (see which element has been clicked) and get these dynamic ids
Try listening to the parent element and then using the event's target to figure out the identity of the input. Since the child elements events will bubble up you'll be able to listen to all children
e.g.
let parentElement = document.querySelector(".triple");
parentElement.addEventListener("click", (e) => {
console.log(e.target.id);
});
You can use the onfocus event
<div class="triple">
<div class="sub-triple">
<label>Category</label>
<input type="text" name="category" id="category" placeholder="Classes/Instances" onfocus="onFocusCategoryInput()" required/>
<ul class="cat-list"></ul>
</div>
<div class="sub-triple">
<label>Relation</label>
<input type="text" name="relation" id="relation" placeholder="Properties" onfocus="onFocusRelationInput()" required/>
<ul class="rel-list"></ul>
</div>
<div class="sub-triple">
<label>Value</label>
<input type="text" name="value" id="value" placeholder="Classes/Instances" onfocus="onFocusValueInput()" required/>
<ul class="val-list"></ul>
</div>
</div>

What is the easiest way to make editForm in Angular?

In my database i have many users which has many recipes.
Every recipe has some properties and collection of ingredients.
Below is screenshot
Recipe with all properties
So when user display recipe to edit on page should appear (form) recipe with loaded current data. This is kind of working because i can see the data but i think it's no done good.
I have form which is working fine without array (ingredients). Could you tell me how i should add ingredients to my edit form?
I'd be grateful if you see at my code and give me feedback and hints what i should change.
export class RecipeEditComponent implements OnInit {
#ViewChild('editForm') editForm: NgForm;
recipe: IRecipe;
photos: IPhoto[] = [];
ingredients: IIngredient[] = [];
uploader: FileUploader;
hasBaseDropZoneOver = false;
baseUrl = environment.apiUrl;
currentMain: IPhoto;
constructor(private route: ActivatedRoute, private recipeService: RecipeService,
private toastr: ToastrService) { }
ngOnInit(): void {
this.loadRecipe();
}
loadRecipe() {
this.recipeService.getRecipe(this.route.snapshot.params.id).subscribe(recipe => {
this.recipe = recipe;
this.initializeUploader();
})
}
updateRecipe(id: number) {
this.recipeService.editRecipe(id, this.recipe).subscribe(next => {
this.toastr.success('Recipe updated successfully');
this.editForm.reset(this.recipe);
}, error => {
this.toastr.error(error);
});
}
}
HTML
<div class="container mt-4 border" *ngIf="recipe">
<form #editForm="ngForm" id="editForm" (ngSubmit)="updateRecipe(recipe.id)" >
<h5 class=" text-center mt-2">Recipe details:</h5>
<div class="form-group mt-3">
<label for="city">Name</label>
<input class="form-control" type="text" name="name" [(ngModel)]="recipe.name">
</div>
<div class="form-group">
<app-ingredient-editor [ingredients] = "recipe.ingredients"></app-ingredient-editor>
<div *ngFor="let ingredient of recipe.ingredients; let i = index">
<input class="form-control" type="text" name="{{ingredient.name}}" [(ngModel)]="ingredient.name">
<input class="form-control" type="text" name="{{ingredient.amount}}" [(ngModel)]="ingredient.amount">
</div>
</div>
<div class="form-group">
<br>
<p>Add recipes</p>
</div>
<h5 class=" text-center mt-4">Description</h5>
<angular-editor cols=100% rows="6" [placeholder]="'Your description'" [(ngModel)]="recipe.description" name="description"></angular-editor>
</form>
<button [disabled]="!editForm.dirty" form="editForm" class="btn btn-success btn-block mb-5 mt-5">Save changes</button>
</div>
For now it's look like:
Form on page
When i delete ingredient name while changing on the console i have following error:
recipe-edit.component.html:12 ERROR Error: If ngModel is used within a form tag, either the name attribute must be set or the form
control must be defined as 'standalone' in ngModelOptions.
Problem is that part of code:
<div *ngFor="let ingredient of recipe.ingredients; let i = index">
<input class="form-control" type="text" name="{{ingredient.name}}" [(ngModel)]="ingredient.name">
<input class="form-control" type="text" name="{{ingredient.amount}}" [(ngModel)]="ingredient.amount">
</div>
</div>
But i don't know how to make it working..
How to add add array to template-driven form?
In my case i need to display current ingredients and be able to edit them.
I have tried something like this :
<input class="form-control" type="text" name="ingredient[i].name" [(ngModel)]="ingredient[i].name">
<input class="form-control" type="text" name="ingredient[i].amount" [(ngModel)]="ingredient[i].amount">
But id doesn't work
The problem is that the property name on the form must be defined in order for angular to know which input to update. You're binding name to the same property that the editable model is set to which means the user can edit it and in fact delete it, which isn't good.
The solution is to change it to a unique value that doesn't change. This should work:
<div *ngFor="let ingredient of recipe.ingredients; let i = index">
<input class="form-control" type="text" name="name{{ingredient.id}}" [(ngModel)]="ingredient.name">
<input class="form-control" type="text" name="amount{{ingredient.id}}" [(ngModel)]="ingredient.amount">
</div>
</div>
Link to stackblitz showing it working: https://stackblitz.com/edit/angular-10-base-template-q243lw?file=src%2Fapp%2Fapp.component.html
Edit: fixed bug in original post and added link to stackblitz

Get Data from Dynamically Created textboxes in Angular using ng-for

I've created a set of dynamically created textboxes like so
<input id="Pun{{item}}" type="text"
class="form-control textbox" placeholder=Punishment >
</div>
Where punishmentnum is an array of numbers. I want to know how to get data from each of the created textboxes, any help is appreciated.
I have created a solution on stackblitz.
Update the for each input with value iterated by *ngFor value as below.
<div *ngFor="let item of items">
<input id="Pun{{item}}" type="text" [(ngModel)]="pun[item]"
name="pun[item]" class="form-control textbox" placeholder="punishment
{{item}}" > {{pun}}
</div>
where
items = [1, 2, 3, 4];
pun = [];
You can use document.getElementById().
Your HTML file:
<input id="Pun{{item}}" type="text" class="form-control textbox" placeholder=Punishment>
Your ts file:
var item="YOUR_ITEM_HERE";
var textValue = (document.getElementById("Pun"+item) as any).value;

Angular5 input fields of array does not show any old value of ngModel when I programmatically push a new value to that array

My angular5 template looks somewhat like this:
<div ngFor="for x of X">
<input [(ngModel)]="x.name" type="text" class="form-control" name="name" maxlength="250" aria-required="true">
<button (click)="null_append(X)">append</button>
</div>
My angular component that is responsible for that template looks somewhat like this:
X=[
{name:null}
]
null_append(o){
console.log(o);
var null_found=false;
for(let c of o){
console.log(c.name)
if(c.name==null){
null_found = true;
}
}
if(!null_found){
o.push({name: null});
}
}
The problem that I am facing is that, when a new element is being pushed on that array it stays in the array but the input fields become empty. This is not something I want.
the problem was at the name, I was using the same name in all the input fields. My working version looks like following:
<div ngFor="for x of X;let i = index">
<input [(ngModel)]="x.name" type="text" class="form-control" name="name{{i}}" maxlength="250" aria-required="true">
<button (click)="null_append(X)">append</button>
</div>

Angularjs input radio and ng-repeat issue

Okay so here is my setup i have the following array:
answers = [answer1, answer2]
with these i do the following:
<form>
<div class="col-xs-12" ng-repeat="answer in component.question.answers">
<div class="col-xs-1" style="width: 1%">
<div class="radio">
<label class="i-checks">
<input type="radio" name="a" ng-model="answer.is_correct">
<i></i>
</label>
</div>
</div>
<div class="col-xs-11">
<input type="text" ng-model="answer.answer" class="form-control" placeholder="Svar">
</div>
</div>
</form>
Now the input[radio] are inside the same form as they should. My goal is that when i set one as selected both of the answer objects should be updated so that only one of the object has the value is_correct = true
However what happens right now is that if i click the first and then second both values have is_correct = true
So what can i do?
Radio buttons are used to choose between different values for a single field or, in Angular's case, a single model. The logical solution would be to select the correct answer:
<input type="radio" ng-model="component.question.correctAnswer" ng-value="answer">
If you really need to set a flag you can easily achieve that with a watcher:
$scope.$watch('component.question.correctAnswer', function(correctAnswer) {
component.question.answers.forEach(function(answer) {
answer.is_correct = answer === correctAnswer ? true : false;
});
});
