header() in php is not working - javascript

i'm very new in PHP and please don't mark this question as duplicate, because I've searched and found many solutions on stackoverflow as well as other sites, here is the code in my login.php what I'm trying to do is pass some data to controller.php:
window.onload = function(){
$('#btnLogin').click(function() {
var val1 = $('#txtusername').val();
var val2 = $('#txtpassword').val();
var val3 = "login";
$.ajax({
type: 'POST',
url: 'controller.php',
data: { action: val3, username: val1, password: val2 },
success: function(response) {
alert(response);
}
});
});
}
It is working well if I don't want to navigate to another page "index.php" because in controller.php I've received all data what passed from login.php, but the header("Location: index.php") is not working.Bellow is my controller.php:
<?php
header("Location: index.php");
exit();
?>
I've tried some solutions like: "delete blank spaces",add "error_reporting(E_ALL)" and "ini_set('display_errors', 'On') " and "ob_start()" to the top of the controller.php file, but nothing better happen.

You can't do that via ajax request. If you want to navigate to index.php after you finish processing data via controller.php use jquery redirection inside your success response.
success: function(response) {
window.location.replace("index.php");
}

You are doing your redirect in ajax request. This will not redirect your page, it will only redirect the ajax request. Instead return some json response and check this response in the ajax callback and then redirect the user using javascript.

How to fix success problem while getting data from php to javascript file?

I have used before these jquery-ajax and php codes. Everything was fine but know there is a problem that success function not working. However, php codes are working, I can add data to mysql database, but I couldn't post info back to javascript file again by use "echo" or any way. Is this problem could originate because of server? I need your support.
I have checked php file is working or not and there was no problem about php. In javascript file in ajax codes, I have tried beforeSend and complete functions, everything were fine. But success function not working.
JS codes:
var userCookie = 1;
var question_txt = document.getElementById("question_txt").value;
var category_slct = document.getElementById("category_slct").value;
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: websitePHP + "ask.php",
data: {
user : userCookie,
quest : question_txt,
cat : category_slct
},
beforeSend: function(){
},
success: function(data){
alert(data);
if(data == 'ok'){
alert('Question added');
}
}
})
PHP codes:
include("ayar.php");
$userID = $_POST['user'];
$categoryID = $_POST['cat'];
$question_txt = $_POST['quest'];
$askedTime = time();
$addQuestion = $vt->prepare("INSERT INTO ".$QUESTIONS." (userID, categoryID, question, image, link, sight, pinned, bestAnswerID, askedTime, publishedTime, published)
VALUES (?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?)");
$addQuestion->execute(array(''.$userID.'',''.$categoryID.'', ''.$question_txt.'', '', '', 0, 0, '', ''.$askedTime.'', '', 0));
echo 'ok';
exit();
I need to get back response from php to js by success function in ajax.
Thanks for your help,
Best regards.
Can you try
return 'ok'; instead of echo 'ok'; and removing exit(); function

ajax success but not post data in the another page

i have this simple code:
var addUser = "simply";
$.ajax({
type: 'POST',
url: 'userControl.php',
data: {addUser: addUser},
success: function(response){
alert("success");
}
});
this is the page that i POST to: userControl.php, the if statement not entering so i didnt post? but i got alert message "success".
<?php
session_start();
if($_SERVER['REQUEST_METHOD'] == 'POST'){ //if page was requested with POST
echo $_POST['addUser'];
}
?>
I got the alert message "success", but the data is not POST to the other page.
Im also try out to write 'simply' with one apostrophe. in another page in the same project i have a same Ajax and its working, so why this one not working? any ideas? i need to do it only with ajax, submit with form will not help me.
thanks
Pass data this way data: 'addUser=' + addUser
see below code
var addUser = "simply";
$.ajax({
type: 'POST',
url: 'userControl.php',
data: 'addUser=' + addUser,
success: function(response){
alert("success");
}
});
and you should remove window.location because it is possible before your ajax call completes page will redirect

I can't passing variable to PHP from JavaScript and jQuery load the response

I want passing 2 parameters to PHP page via AJAX and load the response, but this code is not working.
JavaScript:
$(".show_category").click(function(){
var category_id = $(this).attr('data-category');
$.ajax({
url: "conx.php",
method: "POST",
data: {
action: "sort_category",
category_id: category_id
},
success: function(data) {
$("#con").load("conx.php");
}
});
});
PHP:
<?php
echo "1".$_POST["action"]."<br/>";
?>
You issue is here:
success: function(data) {
$("#con").load("conx.php");
}
At this point, you have already posted the data and received the HTML response. There is no need to make another HTTML request by calling .load, and doing so will mean requesting it again without the POST data, so it will not have the intended effect. Just use the HTML you already have in the data argument.
success: function(data) {
$("#con").html(data);
}
On a side note, this PHP code is a reflected XSS vulnerability:
<?php
echo "1".$_POST["action"]."<br/>";
?>

Echo PHP message after AJAX success

I have a modal that will display when the user clicks a delete button. Once they hit the delete button I am using AJAX to subimit the form. Eveything works fine, but it is not display my success message which is set in PHP.
Here is my AJAX code:
function deleteUser(){
var id = <?php echo $userdetails['id'] ?>;
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: 'admin_user.php?id=' + id,
data: $('form.adminUser').serialize(),
error: function(e){
alert(e);
},
success: function () {
// This is empty because i don't know what to put here.
}
});
}
Here is the PHP code:
if ($deletion_count = deleteUsers($deletions)) {
$successes[] = lang("ACCOUNT_DELETIONS_SUCCESSFUL", array($deletion_count));
} else {
$errors[] = lang("SQL_ERROR");
}
And then I call it like this:
<div class="col-lg-12" id="resultBlock">
<?php echo resultBlock($errors,$successes); ?>
</div>
When I use AJAX it does not display the message. This works fine on other pages that does not require AJAX to submit the form.
I think you are getting confused with how AJAX works, the PHP script you call will not directly output to the page, consider the below simplified lifecycle of an AJAX request:
Main Page -> Submit Form -> Put form data into array
|
--> Send array to a script to be processed on the server
|
|----> Callback from the server script to modify DOM (or whatever you want to do)
There are many callbacks, but here lets discuss success and error
If your PHP script was not found on the server or there was any other internal error, an error callback is returned, else a success callback is fired, in jQuery you can specify a data array to be received in your callback - this contains any data echoed from your PHP script.
In your case, you should amend your PHP file to echo your arrays, this means that if a successful request is made, the $successes or $errors array is echoed back to the data parameter of your AJAX call
if ($deletion_count = deleteUsers($deletions)) {
$successes[] = lang("ACCOUNT_DELETIONS_SUCCESSFUL", array($deletion_count));
echo $successes;
} else {
$errors[] = lang("SQL_ERROR");
echo $errors;
}
You can then test you received an object by logging it to the console:
success: function(data) {
console.log(data);
}
Well, it's quite not clear what does work and what does not work, but two things are bothering me : the function for success in Ajax is empty and you have a header function making a refresh in case of success. Have you tried removing the header function ?
success: function(data) {
alert(data);
}
In case of success this would alert the data that is echoed on the php page. That's how it works.
I'm using this a lot when I'm using $.post
Your header will not do anything. You'll have to show the data on the Java script side, maybe with alert, and then afterwards redirect the user to where you want in javascript.
you need put some var in success function
success: function(data) {
alert(data);
}
then, when you read var "data" u can do anything with the text
Here is what I changed the PHP to:
if ($deletion_count = deleteUsers($deletions)) {
$successes[] = lang("ACCOUNT_DELETIONS_SUCCESSFUL", array($deletion_count));
echo resultBlock($errors,$successes);
} else {
$errors[] = lang("SQL_ERROR");
echo resultBlock($errors,$successes);
}
And the I changed the AJAX to this:
function deleteUser(){
var id = <?php echo $userdetails['id'] ?>;
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: 'admin_user.php?id=' + id,
data: $('form.adminUser').serialize(),
error: function(e){
alert(e);
},
success: function (data) {
result = $(data).find("#success");
$('#resultBlock').html(result);
}
});
}
Because data was loading all html I had to find exactly what I was looking for out of the HTMl so that is why I did .find.

Make page refresh if successful login with ajax/jquery

Ajax code
$("#login_btn").click(function() {
var url = "core/login.php";
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: url,
data: $("#sr").serialize(),
success: function(data) {
var responseData = jQuery.parseJSON(data);
$('.oops').html('<div class="error">'+responseData.oops+'</div>');
alert(responseData.good);
if(responseData.good === 1) {
alert(good)
location.reload();
}
}
});
});
Php code if everything passes
else {
$_SESSION['id'] = $login;
$good = 1;
exit();
}
How come it's not freshing the page with location.reload? Should I be using .done .try?
Dont refresh, the whole idea of using ajax is that you dont need to.
You can set your sessions in the ajax php script and pull new content based on the change in session.
That being said, you are missing a ';' at
alert(good);
