index.html
<object id="battle" data="battle.html"></object>
has a animation I want to show, but when the animation is finnish I want it to close.
I have tried making the webpage disappear and it did work but the screen after it was unclickable
battle.html
document.getElementById("battlebody").style.display="none";
!The image! This code is played when the animation is done. Basically I made a border around it to tell where it is while invisible.
Well I was wondering if it is possible to edit the <object> markup in index.html not in battle.html like I have done.
an example
index.html
<body>
<object id="battle" data="battle.html"></object>
</body>
the battle.html
<body>
<button id="" onclick="closing(); ">close</button>
<script>
function closing() {
window.close()
</script>
</body>
I kinda want to make the object close but it doesn't work that way so making the object display:none; but for that too work you will need to add that js code to the index.html, but the index.html does not read into the <object>
You can just use the window.parent.postMessage method.
Targeted page
<html>
<body>
<script>
setTimeout(function() {
parent.postMessage('close-me', '*');
}, 2000);
</script>
</body>
</html>
index.html
window.onmessage = function(e){
if(e.data === 'close-me'){
console.log("should remove");
obj.parentNode.removeChild(obj);
}
};
object{border:1px solid}
<object id="obj" data="data:text/html; charset=utf8, %3Chtml%3E%3Cbody%3E%3Cscript%3EsetTimeout(function()%7Bparent.postMessage('close-me'%2C'*')%3B%7D%2C2000)%3B%3C%2Fscript%3E%3C%2Fbody%3E%3C%2Fhtml%3E"></object>

I'm trying to hide an element in same-origin iframe. However, this son of a bi*ch blinks for a few ms before getting hidden. So what I did was added display: none and remove it after iframe is loaded - great. But now, when user clicks inner page link of iframe, which also contains element to be hidden, it still blinks (because display:none is now removed). I need to detect when to add it again, i. e. just before another page starts to load.
Testing here: https://www.w3schools.com/tags/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml_script
Here is what I tried:
<html class="js">
<head>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.2.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<style>
html.js #iframeID
{
display: none;
}
</style>
<script>
$(document).ready(function()
{
$('#iframeID').on('load', function()
{
$('#iframeID').contents().find('a').on('click', function()
{
$('html').addClass('js');
console.log('click');
});
console.log('loaded');
$('#iframeID').contents().find('#mySidenav').remove();
$('html').removeClass('js');
});
});
</script>
</head>
<body>
<iframe id="iframeID" height="800px" width="800px" src="https://www.w3schools.com/" ></iframe>
<script>
</script>
</body>
</html>
However, there are some a elements that don't load another page. In this example, try clicking on "TUTORIALS" at the top of that iframed webpage - it just opens up dropdown, not loads another page.
What should I do?
I noticed that "TUTORIALS" link has href="javascript:void(0)". Maybe I should be somehow selecting all a links without such href? But not sure if it's fool proof.
You can make use of load event on the iframe as such,
$('iframe').on('load', function(){
console.log('Iframe Loaded');
});
The iframe's load event is also called every time it's src changes.
$(document).ready(function(){
$('.iFrame_class').load(function(){
console.log('frame loaded');
});
});
Alternatively on start load solution:
Custom attribute for iframe:
iframe class="iFrame" src="some site" started="0"
Put this code to iframed page:
window.parent.$('.iFrame').attr("started","0"); //makes iframe started attr to false on page load
$(document.body).on("click","a", function() {
window.parent.$('.iFrame').attr("started","1");// makes iframe started attr to true for all clicked links
});
And listen; is started attribute changed to 1 on parent page?
I fixed the damn blinking by making 2 iframes and showing 2nd while 1st one is loading. While 1st one is loading, it's also hidden, becomes unhidden after it finishes loading. Anyway, here is my code, should help someone:
<html>
<head>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.2.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<style>
iframe.js
{
display: none;
}
iframe.unclickable
{
pointer-events: none;
}
</style>
<script>
$(document).ready(function()
{
$('#iframeID1').on('load', function()
{
$('#iframeID1').contents().find('a[href!="javascript:void(0)"]').filter('a[target!="_blank"]').filter('a[target!="_top"]').filter('a[target!="_parent"]').on('click', function()
{
$('#iframeID1').addClass('js');
$('#iframeID2').removeClass('js');
});
$('#iframeID1').contents().find('#mySidenav').remove();
$('#iframeID1').removeClass('js');
$('#iframeID2').addClass('js');
$('#iframeID2').contents().find('html').html($('#iframeID1').contents().find('html').html());
});
});
</script>
</head>
<body>
<iframe id="iframeID1" height="800px" width="800px" src="https://www.w3schools.com/" class="js"></iframe>
<iframe id="iframeID2" height="800px" width="800px" src="https://www.w3schools.com/" class="js unclickable" ></iframe>
<script>
</script>
</body>
</html>
I am trying to learn jQuery and I am confused how document.ready() function works
$(document).ready(function(){}
In html,
<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script>
<script src="script.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
links are at the very bottom of the document, just before the closing body tag. In my javaScript file, I have all my code inside the .ready function. Yet, when I load the page, and I hover over a link, my cursor doesn't turn into a pointer for a couple of seconds, and if I immediately scroll down, the text is not yet loaded for a couple of seconds, either.
My javaScript file has a bunch of iframes etc... so I can understand why the delay, but what confuses me is that I thought the whole point of the .ready function was that the javaScript wasn't loaded until everything else in the page was loaded first? So surely my text and my css should be working straight away? Here is my code if it helps. I can post css too if required.
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="UTF-8">
<title>myPage</title>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="styles2.css">
</head>
<body>
<div id="container">
<div id="backgroundLeft"><img id='backgroundLeftImage' src="Left.jpg" width="100%"></div>
<div id="wrap">
<p id="text">...some text... <span id="firstLink" class="link">click me</span>.<span><iframe id="frame" class="rect" scrolling="no" marginwidth=0 marginheight=0></iframe>
</span> ...some more text.... <span id="secondLink" class="link">click me</span>,
</span><span>
<iframe id="frame2" class="rect" scrolling="no" marginwidth=0 marginheight=0></iframe>
</span>
... some more text... <span id="thirdLink" class="link">click me</span> </span><span>
<iframe id="frame3" class="rect" scrolling="no" marginwidth=0 marginheight=0></iframe>

ETC...
</p>
</div>
<div id="backgroundRight"><img id='backgroundRightImage' src="2VillesRight.jpg" width="100%"></div>
<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script>
<script src="script2.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
</body>
</html>
js
$(document).ready(function(){
var frame = $("#frame");
frame.attr("src","iframe.html");
var frame2 = $("#frame2");
frame2.attr("src","iframe2.html");
var frame3 = $("#frame3");
etc...
var player;
frame.bind("load", function () {
player = $(this).contents().find("#firstVid");
player.on('ended', function () {
frame.removeClass("open");
});
});
$("#firsLink").click(function(){
if (frame.hasClass("open"))
{
frame.removeClass("open");
player[0].pause();
}
else {
frame.addClass("open");
player[0].play();
}
});
var player2;
frame2.bind("load", function () {
player2 = $(this).contents().find("#sylvainVid");
player2.on('ended', function () {
frame2.removeClass("open");
});
});
$("#secondLink").click(function(){
if (frame2.hasClass("open"))
{
frame2.removeClass("open");
player2[0].pause();
}
else {
frame2.addClass("open");
player2[0].play();
}
});
var player3;
frame3.bind("load", function () {
player3 = $(this).contents().find("#etienneVid");
player3.on('ended', function () {
frame3.removeClass("open");
});
});
$("#thirdLink").click(function(){
if (frame3.hasClass("open"))
{
frame3.removeClass("open");
player3[0].pause();
}
else {
frame3.addClass("open");
player3[0].play();
}
});
etc...
});
I do know my code is repetitive, I am teaching myself so focused on getting it to work for now. Why is my main page taking so long to load if all my code is inside the "document.ready"? Thanks for your time
you can instead bind your javascript to the window.load event like this
Edit: tis is not good practice and unsupported in newer versions of jQuery
$(window).load(function(){ ... });
Correct way to do this
$(window).on("load", function(){ ... });
document ready lets you access the complete markup, even if the images and iframes have not loaded yet, this is desired in most cases.
In your case however, you might want to take the time penalty of waiting for everything to load, this is that the window.load event does.
$(document).ready() will only wait for all of the page's elements to load. It will NOT wait for the iFrames to load their content.
You can refer to this post if you have more questions:
$(document).ready and iframe content
Are you sure JQuery is loading properly? The source (src) property needs to point to the correct path. I find using the developer's tools to review errors, manipulate CSS and check DOM state to be helpful when learning. I prefer Chrome.
Happened to me too. What I found that, the solution is to include the file at the bottom outside of html tag (i.e the file in which you are using $(document).ready() ).
I assume that, this is because the html document is not ready by the time when browser compiler reached at this function.
I am using squarespace (in retrospect a poor idea because of the difficulty of customizing with code), and I need to be able to identify the vimeo iframe within this div so I can use it in some javascript calls. However, the javascript does not recognize any such iframe element existing. I feel like either it's impossible to identify the iframe as it is currently shoved into the div (by squarespace), or I am missing a selector. Any help or pointers would be appreciated.
Here's the iframe I am trying to embed into squarespace:
<iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/135481337?api=1&player_id=player1&wmode=opaque" width="500" frameborder="0" id="player1" class="vimeo" height="281"></iframe>
Here's the embedded iframe:
<div class="sqs-video-wrapper" data-load="false" data-html="<iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/135481337?api=1&player_id=player1&wmode=opaque" width="500" frameborder="0" id="player1" class="vimeo" height="281"></iframe>" data-provider-name="" >
</div>
And here is my javascript:
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.3/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script src="http://a.vimeocdn.com/js/froogaloop2.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
jQuery(document).ready(function() {
alert("this alert is working");
// Enable the API on each Vimeo video
jQuery('iframe.vimeo').each(function(){
Froogaloop(this).addEvent('ready', ready);
});
function ready(playerID){
Froogaloop(playerID).addEvent('play', play(playerID));
Froogaloop(playerID).addEvent('finish', onFinish);
}
function play(playerID){
alert(playerID + " is playing!");
}
function onFinish() {
document.write('<style>.yui3-lightbox2-content {display: none !important;}</style>');
}
});
</script>
I've taken this from a working example of this api as seen in this link.
Well, I have my radio elements that update an iFrame with js code; and that works fine.
Then I have my button below that creates an iFrame in a HTML Division that contains a bunch o' buttons in a list, my aim is to click one of these buttons in the iFrame then have that button to update the above iFrame (the one controlled by the radio's).
How is this possible, can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.
Note: I've tried using <link rel="import" href="parentpage.html"> to import its ID's (if it does that?) then tried using JS to update it that way, to no avail.
What it looks like (layout wise)!
A simple way to do so is to get the button inside the iframe and set the event onclick like this
$(document.getElementById('iFrame2').contentWindow.document.getElementById("iFrame2Button")).click
(function ()
{
$("#iFrame1").attr('src','tests.php');
})
Assuming all the frames are in the same domain, this can be done like this:
<html>
<head>
<title>Main Page</title>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var change_iframe1_src = function(new_src) {
$("#iframe1").attr('src', new_src);
}
</script>
</head>
<body>
<!-- frame for which we will change src attribute -->
<iframe id="iframe1" src="" width="400" height="200" border="1"></iframe>
<!-- frame which includes your iframe2 with the buttons-->
<iframe src="iframe.html" width="200" height="200" border="1"></iframe>
</body>
</html>
Now in the iframe2 file attach a click handler for your buttons that should change the src attribute of the iframe1 by calling a function defined in the main page.
Example:
<html>
<head>
<title>iFrame 2</title>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(function() {
$("button").click(function(e) {
e.preventDefault();
// call function in a parent frame - IMPORTANT LINE BELOW :)
parent.window.change_iframe1_src(this.rel);
})
})
</script>
</head>
<body>
<button rel="iframe3.html">Change iframe src to iframe3.html</button>
<button rel="iframe4.html">Change iframe src to iframe4.html</button>
</body>
The links in the iframe 2 page call the function which is defined in the parent window (the main page / the window which embeded the iframe2 page itself). That function (change_iframe1_src in this example) takes one argument which is a new url.
The src attribute of the frame #iframe1 (your first frame) will be changed to this url.
Again, this works as long as all the frames are in the same domain.
Hope it helped :) Source
I have a master page Root.master and a page default.aspx . I want to display progress bar until whole default.aspx page is loaded .
I tried following code:-
<html>
<head><title>xx</title>
</head>
<body style="visibility:hidden;" onload="function(){document.body.visibility='visible'}">
<img src="xxxx.gif" style="visibility:visible !important">
</body>
</html>
But problem is that I do not have body on default.aspx , it is on root.master , if we put it on root.master, it apply all pages which inherit from root.master .
So there is another for it .
Please suggest me usable link or samples.
in your sample if you are using jQuery, you can use following re-factoring to your code
$(document).load(function(){
$('body').css('visibility','visible');
}
You can add a reference to jQuery and then do a little code something like:
<html>
<head>
<script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.7.1/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(){ // Wait until the page has finished loading
if ($(".ProgressBar")) // Detect the element with class ProgressBar
{
$(".ProgressBar").hide(); // If found, set it to be display:none;
}
}
</script>
</head>
<body>
<div class="ProgressBar">
<img src="Whatever.gif" alt="Please wait..." />
</div>
</body>
</html>
Also doable without jQuery but it's just so much easier to use it ;)
That way the progress bar gif loads, and once the page is done it is set to invisible.
I hope that might help! Good luck.
You don't mention any libraries, so here is a pure js solution:
http://jsfiddle.net/TTU7v/
The idea is to put the script as close to the opening body tag (but after it!) as possible:
<script type="text/javascript">
var body = document.getElementsByTagName("body")[0];
body.style.visibility = "hidden";
window.onload = function(){body.style.visibility = "visible";};
</script>
