While changing the text from select box values are updating to hidden fields but these values are not coming current http paramater .
eg:
$(document).on('change','.cart .quantitycolumn .quantityinput' ,function(){
var qty = $(this).closest('.tablerow').find('.quantityinput option:selected').val();
var uuid = $(this).closest('.tablerow').find('.quantityinput').data('uuid');
var newUUID = $(this).closest('.tablerow').find('.quantityinput').data('newuuid');
$('[name=quantityValue]').val(qty);
$('[name=ParentUUID]').val(uuid);
$('[name=newUUID]').val(newUUID);
});
Please give me hint how do we resolve this issue.
Thanks a lot!:)

I'm grabbing a the last transaction value from https://api.bitcoinaverage.com/ticker/global/CAD/ and want to update it into an input textbox, but no matter what I try it won't show up.
here's a fiddle
https://jsfiddle.net/h9w5tj8m/2/
var xbtc = new XMLHttpRequest();
xbtc.open('GET', 'https://api.bitcoinaverage.com/ticker/global/CAD/', true);
xbtc.onreadystatechange = function() {
if (xbtc.readyState == 4) {
var ticker = JSON.parse(xbtc.responseText);
price = ticker.last;
document.getElementById('btc').innerHTML = price;
document.getElementById('cad').innerHTML = price;
}
};
xbtc.send();
updated fiddle
use
document.getElementById('cad').value
instead of
document.getElementById('cad').innerHTML
Simply understand with user interacted element input,select,textarea all are call with value for get the data from the elements.
All Other element's are call with innerHTML for get the data from the element
also refer different between .value and .innerHTML
var xbtc = new XMLHttpRequest();
xbtc.open('GET', 'https://api.bitcoinaverage.com/ticker/global/CAD/', true);
xbtc.onreadystatechange = function() {
if (xbtc.readyState == 4) {
var ticker = JSON.parse(xbtc.responseText);
price = ticker.last;
document.getElementById('btc').innerHTML = price;
document.getElementById('cad').value = price;
}
};
xbtc.send();
There is no input type of "textbox". You need to change it to "text" or use a <textarea></textarea>. You can set the value of text input with .value and a textarea with .innerHTML or .value.
This fiddle works fine: https://jsfiddle.net/h9w5tj8m/4/
using value attribute will place the value u retrieved into a particular textbox having a specific id .For Example :
<input type ="textbox " id="a">
</input>
<script>
document.getElmentById("a").value=x;
</script>
//x is the variable where the retrieved data is stored.
try this
document.getElementById('cad').value = price;
$ctr = 0;
foreach($authspons as $authspons_list){
$ctr++;
echo "<input type='checkbox' id='id_list'".$ctr."'"." name='authspons[]'"." class='list_check' value='".$authspons_list->authspons_position." ".$authspons_list->authspons_lname.",".$authspons_list->authspons_fname." ".$authspons_list->authspons_mname." ".$authspons_list->authspons_cmpny.'; '."'".">" .$authspons_list->authspons_position." ".$authspons_list->authspons_lname.",".$authspons_list->authspons_fname." ".$authspons_list->authspons_mname." ".$authspons_list->authspons_cmpny."</input> <br />";
echo "<input type='text' class='text_list' id='tbox".$ctr."'"."name='authsponsid[]' value='".$authspons_list->authspons_id."; "."'"." >";
}
I have a generated list coming from database, the checkboxes contains the personal details, while the textboxes contains the "ID" of each items in the checkboxes.
This is my jquery code:
$('#list').click(function(){
var final = '';
var final2='';
$('.list_check:checked').each(function(){
var values = $(this).val();
final += values;
var val_id = $('.text_list').val();
final2 +=val_id;
});
$("#coauth").val(final);
$("#coauthid").val(final2);
$("#coauthspons").modal("hide");
});
Getting value from checkboxes is okay. My problem is: the output from the textbox is always the last value of the number of checkboxes that is checked.
Like this:
1st checkbox = 1st textbox(value="1");
2nd checkbox = 2nd textbox(value="2");
when i check the two options, the textbox only results to:
1st checkbox = 1st textbox(value="2");
2nd checkbox = 2nd textbox(value="2");
How do I get the result of each of the expected checkbox and its textbox value?
here var val_id = $('.text_list').val();
you are giving the same value for all the elements irrespective of their index
try like this
var val_id = $(this).next().val(); //this gives value of next i.e .text_list element
$('#list').click(function(){
var final = '';
var final2='';
$('.list_check:checked').each(function(){
var raw_value = $(this).val();
var id_value = raw_value.split("||");
var values = id_value[1];
final += values;
var val_id = id_value[0];
final2 +=val_id;
});
$("#coauth").val(final);
$("#coauthid").val(final2);
//alert(final2);
$("#coauthspons").modal("hide");
});
Thanks #Bhadra for your answer. it gives me an idea but I found a better solution to my own problem. I put all the values in the checkbox then I use split function to separate the "ID" from the original checkbox values(fname,mname,lname).
So I have a hidden field on my form which contains a URL (EG - http://www.domain.com?asset=)
What I need to do is on form submit extract the value from a checkbox and append it to the value in my hidden form so that the result will look something like:
http://www.domain.com?asset=123abc
Thanks in advance!
var url = 'http://www.domain.com?asset=',
jq_checkbox = $('input#my-check-box'), // suppose id of your checkbox is my-check-box
jq_hidden = $("input#my-hidden-field"), // and id of your hidden field is my-hidden-field
jq_form = $('form#my-form') // and id of your form is my-form
.submit(function(){
jq_hidden.val(url + jq_checkbox.val());
});
$("hiddenfield").val($("hiddenfield").val() + "123abc");
Simple call this function on form submir or click event you want you get your desired output here i check output by alert
<script>
function check(){
var checkbox= $("#checkbox").val();
var hidden_val= $("#url").val()+checkbox;
alert(hidden_val);
}
</script>
here
checkbox is checkbox ID
url is hideen item ID
hope it will help you
Is there a certain or special of dealing with hidden fields in jQuery? I am using a hidden input field and am not receiving a value. Obviously, my code is incorrect and would be grateful if someone could show me the error. many thanks
<input id="customer" name="customer" type="hidden" value="<?php echo $_SESSION['kt_idcode_usr']; ?>" />
$('#submit').click(function () {
var name = $('.uname').val();
var customer = $('.customer').val();
var department = $('#department').val();
var email = $('.email').val();
var position = $('.position').val();
var feedback = $('.feedbacknew').val();
var data = 'uname=' + name +
'&customer=' + customer +
'&department=' + department +
'&email=' + email +
'&position=' + position +
'&feedbacknew=' + feedback;

$('.customer').val(); ???
not ., #
result
$('#customer').val(); // works
try changing
var customer = $('.customer').val();
to
var customer = $('#customer').val();
you don't have such a class customer anywhere in this code
This line of code is wrong
var customer = $('.customer').val();
you have defined your hidden field by id, not by class, so you would need to use a # instead of a . on the selector
var customer = $('#customer').val();
The line you have here:
var customer = $('.customer').val();
...is looking for elements with a class called "customer". You don't have any such element. You have an element with an id of "customer". I suspect it will work if you simply change this line to:
var customer = $('#customer').val();
I'd suggest doing this for the rest of your input fields as well. Generally you'll want to identify them by id when collecting values to submit the form. Identifying them by class is typically more for things like styling different kinds of fields, binding event handlers, and so on.
note the difference:
alert($('.customer').val());
and
alert($('#customer').val());
. is for classes, see http://api.jquery.com/category/selectors/
I can see that for customer you are using jquery selector ".customer" which searches for an element with class name "customer" but your input has id equal to this, so:
var customer = $('#customer').val();
may I suggest serialize()?
Is this a ligitimate way of determining the selected value of an section/option box with and id of "shirt_size_1221"?
var user_id = '1221';
x = "#shirt_size_" + user_id ;
alert($(x + " option:selected"));
Your alert statement will always show [object] unless you change it to
alert($(x+' option:selected').val());
And don't worry, this is a good way of getting selected option.
You can get the value of a selected option in a dropdown box by using
var selectList = document.getElementById("shirt_size_1221");
var val = selectList.options[selectList.selectedIndex].text;
No JQuery needed.
The "proper" way is simply:
var user_id = '1221';
x = "#shirt_size_" + user_id ;
alert($(x).val());
