I tried to create a form in a model window. But the form action doesn't work. This is my code so far.
HTML Code
<form action="functions/userManagement.php?id="<?php echo $id ?> name='searchdata' id="comment_box" method="get">
<div style="display: none;" aria-hidden="true" aria-labelledby="myModalLabel" role="dialog" tabindex="-1" class="modal fade" id="myModal">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button aria-hidden="true" data-dismiss="modal" class="close" type="button">x</button>
<h4 id="myModalLabel" class="modal-title">Put the Reason for Deactivate</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<textarea rows="4" cols="70" name="comment" form="usrform"></textarea>
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button data-dismiss="modal" class="btn btn-default" type="button">Close</button>
<button onclick="form_submit()" class="btn btn-primary" name="add" value="Proceed">Proceed</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</form>
Java Script code
<script type="text/javascript">
function form_submit() {
document.getElementById("comment_box").submit();
}
</script>
Can anyone help me to fix this.
1st : Your action attribute Get parameter value should be inside the double quotes .
action="functions/userManagement.php?id="<?php echo $id ?>
To
action="functions/userManagement.php?id=<?php echo $id ?>"
2nd : Simple change button type to submit
<button type="submit" class="btn btn-primary" name="add" value="Proceed">Proceed</button>
3rd : Your form should be inside the modal .
<div style="display: none;" aria-hidden="true" aria-labelledby="myModalLabel" role="dialog" tabindex="-1" class="modal fade" id="myModal">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<div class="modal-content">
<form action="functions/userManagement.php?id="<?php echo $id ?> name='searchdata' id="comment_box" method="get">
<div class="modal-header">
<button aria-hidden="true" data-dismiss="modal" class="close" type="button">x</button>
<h4 id="myModalLabel" class="modal-title">Put the Reason for Deactivate</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<textarea rows="4" cols="70" name="comment" form="usrform"></textarea>
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button data-dismiss="modal" class="btn btn-default" type="button">Close</button>
<button onclick="form_submit()" class="btn btn-primary" name="add" value="Proceed">Proceed</button>
</div>
</form>
</div>
</div>
</div>
Note : simple your submiting the form . so you can submit the form easily by button type="submit" .
Use this one
onclick="javascript:form_submit()"
Use this one
action="<?php echo htmlentities('functions/userManagement.php?id= echo $id');?>"
Hope it is helpful for you.
I have dynamic buttons
when I click on button a popup should appear with a textbox.
My button code is
echo '<button type="submit" class="btn btn-success" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#myModal" value='.$row['country_id'].' id="update" >Update</button>';
My jQuery code is
<script>
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#update").click(function(){
var butval = $("#update").val();
$("#ctext").val(butval);
});
});
Modal popup is
<div id="myModal" class="modal fade" role="dialog">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<!-- Modal content-->
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal">×</button>
<h4 class="modal-title">Modal Header</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<input type="text" id="ctext" value="<?php ;?>">
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<input type="submit" class="btn btn-default" name="update">
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
For this kind of case , You must use data attribute of HTML5.
echo '<button type="submit" class="btn btn-success" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#myModal" data-btn="'..$row['country_id']..'" value='.$row['country_id'].' id="update" >Update</button>';
And in the Modal popup,
Here is the magic script that will solve your problem.
<script>
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#update").click(function(){
// this is the value you get which is in data attribute of update button.
var btn_value= $(this).data('btn');
$('#myModal')
.find('#ctext').val(btn_value).end()
.modal('show');
});
</script>
Updated for multiple buttons using class: You can try the below. first remove data-target="#myModal" from button then get the value and write it to input then open the modal:
$(document).ready(function(){
$(".update").click(function(){
var butval = $(this).val();
$("#ctext").val(butval);
$("#myModal").modal('show');
});
});

<button type="submit" class="btn btn-success update" value='2' >Update</button>
<button type="submit" class="btn btn-success update" value='3' >Update</button>
<!-- see the button attributes changes -->
<div id="myModal" class="modal fade" role="dialog">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<!-- Modal content-->
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal">×</button>
<h4 class="modal-title">Modal Header</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<input type="text" id="ctext" >
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<input type="submit" class="btn btn-default" name="update">

#suchit Thanks for your help.
this code is working
<button type="submit" class="btn" data-toggle="modal" value='.$row['country_name'].' id='.$row['country_name'].' >Update</button>;
<script>
$(document).ready(function(){
$(".btn").click(function(){
var butval = this.id;
$("#ctext").val(butval);
$("#myModal").modal('show');
});
});
} );
</script>
I have a Button that gets populated with ever row in the table. I want to be able to put the value of the row "$row[auditID]" and use it in my modal to be able to make this delete button work. The alert pops up, but the Modal won't hide and my delete action doesn't work (doesn't delete the audit).
<a href=\"#\" id=\"$row[auditID]\" class='btn btn-danger btn-xs' role='button' data-toggle='modal' data-target='#question_alert' Title=\"Remove\" >Remove</span> </a>";
<!-- modal pop up for Deleting a audit -->
<div class="modal fade" style="z-index:10000" id="question_alert" role="dialog">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-hidden="true"></button>
<h4 class="modal-title">Audit Delete Confirmation</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body"id="myModal1">
<h3>Are you sure you want to <strong>DELETE</strong> this Audit? You will not be able to get it back.</h3>
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<form method = "POST">
<input type="button" id="yes_delete" value="Yes " name="deleteaudit" />
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default" data-dismiss="modal">No</button>
</form>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
JQuery Script:
<script>
$("#yes_delete").click(function(){
var auditID = this.id;
//alert("delete test");
$.post("edit_audits.php?action=delete&auditID="+auditID,{
function(data){
alert("Audit Deleted");
$('question_alert').modal('hide');
window.location.reload();
}
});
});
</script>
Something like this?
Put your PHP value into the a tag like this:
<a href="#" data-mylink="<?php echo $yourPHPVar; ?>" class='btn btn-danger btn-xs' role='button' data-toggle='modal' data-target='#question_alert' Title="Remove" ><span>Remove</span> </a>
jsFiddle Demo
$('#question_alert').on('shown.bs.modal', function (e) {
var btn = $(e.relatedTarget);
var linked = btn.data('mylink');
$('#audNo').text(linked);
// Or:
// var modal = $(this);
// modal.find('.modal-body h3 span#audNo').text(linked);
});
<link href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.6/css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet"/>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.6/js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
<a href="#" id="bob" data-mylink="Fred" class='btn btn-danger btn-xs' role='button' data-toggle='modal' data-target='#question_alert' Title="Remove" ><span>Remove</span> </a>
<!-- modal pop up for Deleting a audit -->
<div class="modal fade" style="z-index:10000" id="question_alert" role="dialog">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-hidden="true"></button>
<h4 class="modal-title">Audit Delete Confirmation</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body"id="myModal1">
<h3>Are you sure you want to <strong>DELETE</strong> Audit number <span id="audNo"></span>? You will not be able to get it back.</h3>
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<form method = "POST">
<input type="button" id="yes_delete" value="Yes " name="deleteaudit" />
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default" data-dismiss="modal">No</button>
</form>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
I would do something like this
<a href="javascript:void(0)" class='btn btn-danger btn-xs btn-remove' data-id="<?=$row["auditID"]?>" role='button' data-toggle='modal' data-target='#question_alert' Title="Remove" >Remove</span></a>
<!-- modal pop up for Deleting a audit -->
<div class="modal fade" style="z-index:10000" id="question_alert" role="dialog">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-hidden="true"></button>
<h4 class="modal-title">Audit Delete Confirmation</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body"id="myModal1">
<h3>Are you sure you want to <strong>DELETE</strong> this Audit? You will not be able to get it back.</h3>
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<form method = "POST">
<input type="button" id="yes_delete" value="Yes " name="deleteaudit" />
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default" data-dismiss="modal">No</button>
</form>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
And This in The jQuery function. Make sure you put your jQuery script tag at the top of the page for jQuery to load before this function
<script>
var removeId = null;
$(document).ready(function(){
$(".btn-remove").click(function(){
removeId = $(this).attr("data-id");
});
$("#yes_delete").click(function(){
$.ajax({
url: "edit_audits.php",
type: "POST",
data: "action=delete&auditID="+removeId,
success: function(){
$('#question_alert').modal('hide');
window.location.reload();
}
});
}
});
Keep in mind, I have not ran this as I don't have all the data needed. You may have to debug this a little as it was blind coding.
I have this view with a modal window. When I click to open the modal window, I'd like to pass the parameter item.InstrumentId into the modal window so that I can click on a link that redirects me to the page from that specific instrument that belongs to the InstrumentId. What I'm doing below successfully passes the InstrumentId into the window, but the problem is I don't know how to pass that value into the Html.ActionLink. Any hints as to how I can proceed?

You currently generating a modal for each item in your collection but giving it an id="myModal" which is invalid html and means data-target="#myModal" will only ever open the first one. Move the modal outside the loop so your create only one (and also remove the <h4 class="modal-title" id="myModal"></h4> element which also has the same id attribute)
Then change the button html to
<button type="button" class=".." .. data-url="#Url.Action("Instrument", new { instrumentid = item.InstrumentId })">
and change the html in the modal to
Instrument: <a id="details" href="#">Details</a>
Then change the script to
$(document).on("click", ".open-dialog", function() {
$('#details').attr('href', $(this).data('url')); // update the links url
})
Side note: You will probably want to do something similar with Checked: #item.Checked in the modal
1.Use ID for Anchor Link.
2.Notice this line <a href='#' id='InstrumentIDLink'>Anchor Link Value=</a> in code. It has Anchor Link Value=. When you open modal you can see Anchor Link Value=10320320 and you can inspect href too.
$('#myModal1').on('show.bs.modal', function(e) {
var modalId = $(e.relatedTarget).data('id');
$('#InstrumentIDLink').attr('href', 'url+'+ modalId)
$('#InstrumentIDLink').text('Anchor Link Value='+ modalId);
})

<h3>Modal Example</h3>
<!-- Button to trigger modal -->
<div> <a href="#myModal1" class='open-dialog' role="button"
class="btn" data-toggle="modal" data-id='10320320'>Launch Modal (10320320)</a><br/>
<a href="#myModal1" class='open-dialog' role="button"

From bootstrap 3+ you can use e.relatedTarget to get element that triggered the modal
Instrument:
#Html.ActionLink("Link_Text", "Action_Name", "Controller_Name", new { id=item.InstrumentId})
Now in your COntroller you can access this value like
public ActionResult Action_Name(int id)
{
//Do something
return view();
}
I'm using IE-11 and I have a modal that automatically loads inside my form. It does not respect the the onClick(). Also, the data-toggle does not work. It also loads automatically.
<form ...>
<div id="manage" class="tab-pane">
<div id="media_action_div">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-primary btn-lg media_action_buttons" id="tag_media" disabled="disabled" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#tag_media_modal">Tag</button>
<button type="button" class="btn btn-danger media_action_buttons" id="delete_media" disabled="disabled">Delete</button>
<button type="button" class="btn btn-success media_action_buttons" id="activate_media" disabled="disabled">Activate</button>
<button type="button" class="btn btn-warning media_action_buttons" id="deactivate_media" disabled="disabled">Deactivate</button>
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default media_action_buttons" id="download_media" disabled="disabled">Download</button>
</div>
</div>
</form>
Here's my modal:
<!-- Modal HTML -->
<div id="media_delete_confirmation" class="modal">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-hidden="true">×</button>
<h4 class="modal-title">Confirmation</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<p>What would you like to do?</p>
<p class="text-warning"><small>"Delete" will remove the media.</small></p>
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-primary media_delete_footer" data-dismiss="modal">Keep</button>
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default media_delete_footer" id="modal_delete" data-dismiss="modal">Delete</button>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
Here's my simple JS:
$("#delete_media").click(function(){
$("#media_delete_confirmation").modal('show');
});
Here's my "Tag" button:
<!-- Modal HTML -->
<div id="tag_media_modal" class="modal">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-hidden="true">×</button>
<h4 class="modal-title">Tag</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<div class="container">
<?php
echo $PARSER->search(array(
'search' => $PARSER->student,
'actions' => '<button name="action" value="Upload" class="btn">Search</button>'
));
?>
</div>
<?php echo $PARSER->form_upload->Html(); ?>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
Try this code
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#media_delete_confirmation").hide();
$("#delete_media").click(function(){
$("#media_delete_confirmation").show();
});
})
