html form-
<div class="inner-container login-panel id="login_form"">
<h3 class="m_title">SIGN IN YOUR ACCOUNT TO HAVE ACCESS TO DIFFERENT FEATURES</h3>
<div id="login_form" class="loginform">
CREATE ACCOUNT
<input type="text" id="email" name="email" class="inputbox" placeholder="Email">
<input type="password" id="password" name="password" class="inputbox" placeholder="Password">
<button id="loginsubmit" class="btn btn-red">LOG IN</button>
login with facebook
</div>
<div class="links">
FORGOT YOUR USERNAME? / FORGOT YOUR PASSWORD?
</div>
</div>
And javascript code -
console.log("before");
$(document).ready(function (){
console.log("then");
$("#loginsubmit").click(function (){
console.log("success");
e = $("#email").val();
p = $("#pass").val();
if($("#email").val()==""||$("#pass").val()==""){
$("div#ack").html("please enter email and pass");
}
else {
$.post( $("#myForm").attr("action"),
//$("#myForm :input").serializeArray(),
{emailid: e, password: p},
function(data){
$("div#ack").html(data);
});
}
$("#myForm").submit( function(){
return false;
});
});
});
In the console before and then is printing but no response on clicking #loginsubmit . Is there any problem with the javascript code? Please help me to find it out.
Your code is working you have not written div element with #ack id , , If will add this element you can see the responce on button click.
html : <button id="loginsubmit" class="btn btn-red" onclick="logincheck()">LOG IN</button>
Javascript:
function logincheck(){
console.log("success");
e = $("#email").val();
p = $("#pass").val();
if($("#email").val()==""||$("#pass").val()=="")
$("div#ack").html("please enter email and pass");
else
$.post( $("#myForm").attr("action"),
//$("#myForm :input").serializeArray(),
{emailid: e, password: p},
function(data){
$("div#ack").html(data);
});
$("#myForm").submit( function(){
return false;
});
}
Now it is working properly.
kindly use following updated script and html:
javascript:
console.log("before");
$(document).ready(function (){
console.log("then");
$("#loginsubmit").click(function (){
console.log("success");
e = $("#email").val();
p = $("#pass").val();
if($("#email").val()==""||$("#pass").val()==""){
$("div#ack").html("please enter email and pass");
}
else {
$.post( $("#myForm").attr("action"),
//$("#myForm :input").serializeArray(),
{ emailid:e, password:p },
function(data){
$("div#ack").html(data);
},'json');
}
$("#myForm").submit( function(){
return false;
});
});
});
Html:
<div class="inner-container login-panel id="login_form"">
<h3 class="m_title">SIGN IN YOUR ACCOUNT TO HAVE ACCESS TO DIFFERENT FEATURES</h3>
<form action="#" method="post" id="myForm">
<div id="login_form" class="loginform">

I have a simple form with Ajax call, but ajax call gets executed even if form is not validated.
In below code line console.log("This line should execute only if Form is validated"); gets executed when form is not validate.
Bootstrap 5 validation Codepen code
(function () {
"use strict";
const forms = document.querySelectorAll(".requires-validation");
Array.from(forms).forEach(function (form) {
form.addEventListener(
"submit",
function (event) {

event.preventDefault();
event.stopPropagation();
}
else
{
console.log("This line should execute only if Form is validated");
// Call Ajax Function
// AjaxCallSaveData();
}
form.classList.add("was-validated");
},
false

});
})();
//$(document).ready(function () {

event.preventDefault() will only stop the form from submitting. It cannot stop next lines of the JavaScript function from executing.
You should use return in place of event.preventDefault().

With the above code I'm getting
419
Sorry, your session has expired. Please refresh and try again.
I've set CSRF-TOKEN in ajax and in head section also, but seems like my js code is not picking up csrf token.
I would be very thankful if anyone could highlight the mistake I've made above.
Try using this:
{{ csrf_field() }} instead of #csrf
419 error is mostly because of CSRF token issues.
i'm creating a ajax post request that works fine. however to make it more appealing i'm trying to implement so that when the user click on #sign_in it will change the text while request is going on. if it result in error a message will appear. this message will automatically remove after a couple of seconds. however if u click .close it will force close. The issue is however that following does not work:
$(".alert a").click(function(e) {
$('.alert').fadeOut();
});
Nothing happens when i click on .close. in addition to this below does not work either.
$('#sign_in').val('Logger ind...');
Full Code
<form id="sign_in">
<div class="form-group">
<input type="text" name="username" id="username" class="form-control" placeholder="Email">
</div>
<div class="form-group">
<input type="password" name="password" id="password" class="form-control" placeholder="Kodeord">
</div>
<a href="#">
<small>Forgot password?</small>
</a>
<div class="form-group text-center add_top_20">
<input class="btn_1 medium" id="sign_in" type="submit" value="Log ind">
<input type="hidden" name="next" value="{{ next }}" />
</div>
</form>
<div class="alert alert-error alert-danger" style="display: none;">
<a class="close" href="#">×</a>
Invalid email or password. Try clicking 'Forgot Password' if you're having trouble signing in.
</div>
jquery
$("#sign_in").submit(function (event) {
// Change sign in button text
$('#sign_in').val('Logger ind...');
// post request
event.preventDefault();
var username = $('#username').val();
var password = $('#password').val();
$.ajax({
url: "/account/login/auth/",
type: "POST",
dataType : 'json',
contentType: 'application/json',
data: {
'username': username,
'password': password
}, success: function (data) {
if (data.success) {
alert('success');
} else {
showAlert()
}
// Change sign in text back
$('#sign_in').val('Log ind');
}, error: function(error){
// Change sign in text back
$('#sign_in').val('Log ind');
}
});
});
function showAlert(){
if(!$('.alert').is(':visible'))
{
$('.alert').fadeIn()
$('.alert').delay(4000).fadeOut()
}
}
$(".alert a").click(function(e) {
$('.alert').fadeOut();
});
and all of this is wrapped in $(document).ready(function () {
Mmm, your event is launching but you need to use clearQueue in order to launch your fadeOut animation again interrupting the previous one.
$(".alert a").click(function(e) {
$('.alert').clearQueue();
$('.alert').fadeOut();
});
Change your form id or submit button id and change :visible to :hidden
function showAlert(){
if($('.alert').is(':hidden'))
{
$('.alert').fadeIn()
$('.alert').delay(4000).fadeOut()
}
}
Here I have change form 'id'

</form>
<div class="alert alert-error alert-danger" style="display: none;">
<a class="close" href="#">×</a>
Invalid email or password. Try clicking 'Forgot Password' if you're having trouble signing in.

jQuery
$("#sign_in_form").submit(function (event) {
// Change sign in button text

// post request
event.preventDefault();
var username = $('#username').val();
var password = $('#password').val();

function showAlert(){

$(".alert a").click(function(e) {

I am trying to print the value from the form when a user submits the function but a blank value is returned.
Here is my JavaScript code:
var login = new function()
{
var name = null ;
this.validation = function()
{
this.name = document.getElementById("Username").value;
console.log(this.name);
document.getElementById("demo").innerHTML = this.name;
};
};
And my HTML form as :
<body>
<div class="container">
<div class="col-md-8">
<div class="starter-template">
<h1>Login with javascript</h1>
<p class="lead">Please Enter Following Details</p>
<h1 id="demo"></h1>
<form name="form" onSubmit="return login.validation();" action="#" method="post">
<div class="form-group">
<label for="exampleInputEmail1">Username</label>
<input type="text" name="username" class="form-control" id="Username" placeholder="Please Enter your Username">
</div>
<div class="form-group">
<label for="exampleInputEmail1">Email address</label>
<input type="email" class="form-control" id="Email" placeholder="Please enter your Password">
</div>
<div class="form-group">
<label for="exampleInputPassword1">Password</label>
<input type="password" class="form-control" id="Password" placeholder="Password">
</div>
<div class="form-group">
<label for="exampleInputPassword1">Re-Password</label>
<input type="password" class="form-control" id="Re-Password" placeholder="Password">
</div>
<button type="submit" class="btn btn-default">Submit</button>
</form>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<script src="js/login.js"></script>
<script href="js/bootstrap.js"></script>
<!-- /.container -->
</body>
Why does the value not get into html <p> tag.
Your code simply works. But since the function executes on submitting the form, the username gets logged in the console fast before the page refreshed with submitted data. You can confirm this and test it by adding event.preventDefault(); to the function to prevent submitting the form so the page would stay visible with the console.
<script>
var login = new function()
{
var name = null ;
this.validation = function()
{
event.preventDefault();
this.name = document.getElementById("Username").value;
console.log(this.name);
document.getElementById("demo").innerHTML = this.name;
};
};
</script>
If that's not what you're looking for, let me know.
We the javascript validation failed you need to return false. If you don't it will proceed your form further. Thanks
var login = new function()
{
var name = null ;
this.validation = function()
{
this.name = document.getElementById("Username").value;
document.getElementById("demo").innerHTML = this.name;
return false;
};
};
I am trying to send an e-mail after an ajax call has been successfully completed. I do not have access to the file that I am making the AJAX call to.
I am preventing the first submit, making the ajax call and submitting the form again upon competition. When doing this, I can't seem to figure out why I have to press the submit button twice for the email to be sent.
Here is my code:
"use strict";
var submitted = '';
/* Send info to the portal */
jQuery(function($) {
$('#quote').submit(function(e){
var firstName = $('#firstName').val(),
lastName = $('#lastName').val(),
email = $('#email').val(),
phone = $('#primaryPhone').val(),
weight = $('#weight').val(),
origin = $('#originPostalCode').val(),
destination = $('#destinationPostalCode').val(),
notes = $('#whatsTransported').val()
if( submitted != 1 )
{
e.preventDefault();
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "https://somewhere.on/the/internet.php",
crossDomain: true,
dataType: "json",
data: {"key": "my secret key","first": firstName, "last": lastName, "email": email, "phone": phone, "weight": weight, "origin_postal": origin, "dest_country": destination, "note": notes }
})
.done(function(data){
if(data[1][0][0] == 2)
{
$('.alert').append( data[1][0][1].message ).addClass('alert-error').show();
} else if(data[1][0][0] == 0) {
console.log("Made it.");
$('#quote #submit').submit();
} else {
$('.alert').append( "Appologies, it seems like something went wrong. Please, <strong>call (877) 419-5523</strong> for immediate assistance or a free quote.");
}
})
.fail(function(data) { console.log(data); });
}
submitted = '1';
});
});
Here is the form HTML
<form action="<?php echo bloginfo($show='template_url').'/includes/form-email.php'; ?>" class="span6 offset1" id="quote" method="post">

My question is two-fold: Is there a more efficient way to do this? If not, why isn't this working?
Just use the .submit directly on the form node (note the [0])
$('#quote #submit').submit();
becomes
$('#quote')[0].submit();
this bypasses the jQuery bound event and forces a postback.
You use the wrong approach to Jquery
You miss the key : Write Less Do More, the heart of JQuery.
Anyway try this:
"use strict";
/* Send info to the portal */
jQuery(function($) {
$('#quote').submit(function(e){
var tis = $(this);
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "https://somewhere.on/the/internet.php",
cache: true,
dataType: "json",
data: tis.serialize(),
success: function(data){
if(data[1][0][0] == 2){
$('.alert').append( data[1][0][1].message ).addClass('alert-error').show();
} else if(data[1][0][0] == 0) {
console.log("Made it.");
$('#quote #submit').submit();
} else {
$('.alert').append( "Appologies, it seems like something went wrong. Please, <strong>call (877) 419-5523</strong> for immediate assistance or a free quote.");
}
},
error: function(data){console.log(data);}
});
e.stroPropagation();
e.preventDefault();
});
});
