I want to be able to toggle an overlay dialog box using a button outside. The problem is that when the overlay dialog opens it blocks mouse access to the button. Can one mimic the Bootstrap modal response without using its data- classes? Is it possible to get around of this modal behavior using CSS, jQuery or javaScript? Here is the code:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<link href="css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet">
<style>
.nonmodals {
position: fixed;
top: 0;
left: 0;
width: 100%;
height: 100%;
z-index: 10000;
}
</style>
</head>
<body onload="HideModals()">
<a type="button" onclick="ToggleReserve()" class="btn btn-primary">Toggle Overlay</a>
<div id="reserveform" class="nonmodals" role="dialog">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal">× </button>
<h4 class="modal-title">The Header</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<div>
<h3>Hello!</h3>
<form class="form-horizontal" role="form">
<div class="form-group">
<div class="col-sm-offset-2">
<button type="submit" class="btn btn- primary">Submit</button>
</div>
</div>
</form>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.3/jquery.min.js"> </script>
<script src="js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
<script>
function ToggleReserve() {
$("#reserveform").toggle(500);
}
function HideModals() {
$('.nonmodals').css('display', 'none');
}
</script>
</body>
</html>
No sure why you'd want to do that, but the css you can use to do it is
pointer-events: none;
Add it to your "reserve form" div. Any mouse clicks will go through the div to what lies beneath. If you need some clicks not to fall through, you will have to re-set the pointer-events style for those elements.

I am trying to determine if an element is visible in the viewport when the user scrolls. This code works outside of a Modal, but not inside the Modal. I imagine it has something to do with the
z-index, but no matter what I try it does not work. Any ideas?

Check a feature called Intersection observer. It lets you listen for an element when it comes into view and then fire a callback.

I am trying to use a Bootstrap html page with body zoomed in at 90%.. The Bootstrap modal is showing spaces from right and bottom..
To show the issue i am putting a basic html page with modal at body 90% zoom..
When you click on the open modal you will see spaces from right and bottom for modal..How do we render modal with not extra spaces with body zoom 90%..Desired output is modal blur background should cover the whole screen.. and modal body should be in center of x axis as if zoom of 90% and 100% are same except the zoom 90% is small font

I am stuck in a small but weird problem. I have two modals on my page, I want to load the first modal when the page loads, I have done the code to click a button and open the modal but both the modals come up. It has a effect of opening from left to right, I want to keep that so I had added the class in the jquery code. I just want to load the modal that has the id="ModalLogin". As you can see both the modals load when button is clicked. Below is the snippet. Please help.
$('.btn').click(function() {
$('.modal')
.prop('class', 'modal fade') // revert to default
.addClass($(this).data('direction'));
$('.modal').modal('show');
});

I would like to offer another way to use modals: pure CSS.
here is the reference: click here
The idea is you don't need any js,
each modal will be in a div wrapper with id. like this:
<div id="modalWrapper">
and then you will have a hyperlink where ever you want
<a href="#modalWrapper">
and the trick is with CSS -
you initially set the position of the modal as absolute and unseen (left:-999em)
and then with the target selector, you bring the modal to the center:
#modalWrapper:target {
left:0;
transition:etc..
}
and when you do like this - you will open only the desired modal with the button.
hope this will make some help for you.

I found that {backdrop: false} can make modal's overlay be transparent.
But It prevent closing modal from click outside of the modal.
Question:
How can I make it enabled to close modal through click outside of the modal , At the same time, The modal's overlay remained transparent?
Just add opacity:0 to the backdrop element, and remove backdrop:false
.modal-backdrop {
opacity:0!important;
}

Add the following style
.modal-backdrop.in {
filter: alpha(opacity=0); // For IE
opacity: 0; // For all other browsers
}
Also there is no need of backdrop: false now.
But one thing that i want to mention is that although you will be able to see whats in the background, it wont be clickable or accessible until the modal closes.
I want to divide the screen as left menu and main menu with Bootstrap.
Left Menu will be "col-md-2" and Main Menu will be "col-md-10" and I'd like to make main menu as a overlay screen.
For this reason, I am using bootstrap modal. As you can see in my below code:
1-) I cannot use "col-md-xx" class into Modal class
2-) If I set the 80% width to class="modal-dialog", it is nearly working but left position is being wrong
3-) Therefore, I am setting the modal position with jQuery but it is still now working properly.
I know that it is very diffucult to explain but if you check the below code I suppose you will understand the situation.
Do you have any suggestion to fix this issue?
Thanks in advance.

Change into HTML:
