I want transition of image to another image when hover. But after using the following code the size of the image is more than the page and when hover the image disappears and no other image can be seen.
HTML
<html>
<head>
<title></title>
</head>
<body>
<div id="cssfade">
<img src="image1.jpg" height:200px;width:300px;/>
</div>
</body>
</html>
CSS
#cssfade {
background-image: url('image2.jpg');
height:200px;
width: 300px;
}
#cssfade img {
-webkit-transition: all ease 1s;
-moz-transition: all ease 1s;
-o-transition: all ease 1s;
-ms-transition: all ease 1s;
transition: all ease 1s;
}
#cssfade img:hover {
opacity:0;
}
I'm assuming the image in the div is content so I have left it there and merely moved the hover to take effect when the wrapping div is hovered.
#cssfade {
width: 300px;
height: 200px;
background-image: url(http://lorempixel.com/300/200/sports/2/);
}
#cssfade img {
width: 300px;
height: 200px;
display: block;
transition: opacity 1s ease;
}
#cssfade:hover img {
opacity: 0;
}
<div id="cssfade">
<img src="http://lorempixel.com/300/200/sports/1/" alt="">
</div>
EDIT - Just to clarify the difference to Tushar's answer, the transitions should be on #cssfade rather than #cssfade:hover to ensure the transition applies when hovering and un-hovering.
HTML:
<html>
<head>
<title>...</title>
</head>
<body>
<div id="cssfade"></div>
</body>
</html>
CSS:
#cssfade {
height:200px;
width: 300px;
background-image: url('image1.jpg') no-repeat;
-webkit-transition: all ease 1s;
-moz-transition: all ease 1s;
-o-transition: all ease 1s;
-ms-transition: all ease 1s;
transition: all ease 1s;
}
#cssfade:hover {
background-image: url('image2.jpg') no-repeat;
}
Use background-image on div.
On hover change the background-image.

I am trying to develop an Image slider. I want the images to zoom in until the next image takeover occurs. I am currently using the transform scale property. It is overflowing the width and causes a scrollbar to be displayed. How can this scrollbar be removed?
HTML:
<div id="pn-head">
</div>
JS:
var i = 1;
function tSlide(){
if(i<=5){
jQuery('#pyn-head').attr('class','pn-head head-bg'+i);
}
i = i+1;
if(i==6){
i=1;
}
}
tSlide();
setInterval(tSlide , 5000);
CSS:
.pn-head{
height: 700px;
background-size: cover !important;
background-repeat: no-repeat !important;
-webkit-transition: background 1s ease-out;
-moz-transition: background 1s ease-out;
-o-transition: background 1s ease-out;
transition: background 1s ease-out;
-webkit-transition: transform 2s ease-out 1s;
-moz-transition: transform 2s ease-out 1s;
-o-transition: transform 2s ease-out 1s;
transition: transform 2s ease-out 1s;
}
.head-bg1{
background: url('../img/b1.png');
transform: scale(1.1);
}
.head-bg2{
background: url('../img/b2.png');
transform: scale(1.2);
}
.head-bg3{
background: url('../img/b3.png');
transform: scale(1.3);
}
.head-bg4{
background: url('../img/b4.png');
transform: scale(1.4);
}
.head-bg5{
background: url('../img/b5.png');
transform: scale(1.5);
}
Add this to remove all scrollbars:
<style type="text/css">
body {
overflow:hidden;
}
</style>
im trying to customize the flexslider (http://flexslider.woothemes.com/thumbnail-controlnav.html) in a way that when a user hovers on a navigation thumbnail to show an overlay with an icon. Something like this http://callmenick.com/_development/image-overlay-hover-effects/
by editing the flexslider js code i managed to add a div
<div class="thumb_overlay"></div><img src="'+s.attr("data-thumb")+'"'+c+"/>":''+t+""
but i couldnt move it to above the image although i set relative positions

Any help will be appreciated
Thanks
Just add this to your CSS:
.flex-control-nav li{
position: relative;
}
.flex-control-nav li img{
position: relative;
z-index: 2;
}
.flex-control-nav li:hover img{
opacity: .5;
}
.flex-control-nav li::after{
display: block;
content: " ";
position: absolute;
width: 100%;
height: 100%;
top: 100%;
background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.8);
background-image: url(//i.imgur.com/xMS5K4O.png);
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: center center;
background-size: 40px;
z-index: 1;
-webkit-transition: all 0.3s ease-out;
-moz-transition: all 0.3s ease-out;
-ms-transition: all 0.3s ease-out;
-o-transition: all 0.3s ease-out;
transition: all 0.3s ease-out;
}
.flex-control-nav li:hover::after{
top: 0;
-webkit-transition: all 0.3s ease-out;
-moz-transition: all 0.3s ease-out;
-ms-transition: all 0.3s ease-out;
-o-transition: all 0.3s ease-out;
transition: all 0.3s ease-out;
}

So I'm struggling with hover effect. The black box is the image and I want the red mask color (which has the same width and height) to be placed in front of the black box whenever user will hover on that image, I cannot do this because it seems the effect is under the image whenever I hover mouse on that image....
.third-effect .mask {
opacity: 0;
overflow: visible;
border: 100px solid rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.7);
-moz-box-sizing: border-box;
-webkit-box-sizing: border-box;
box-sizing: border-box;
-webkit-transition: all 0.4s ease-in-out;
-moz-transition: all 0.4s ease-in-out;
-o-transition: all 0.4s ease-in-out;
-ms-transition: all 0.4s ease-in-out;
transition: all 0.4s ease-in-out;
width: 274px;
height: 197px;
}
.third-effect a.info {
position: relative;
top: -10px;
opacity: 0;
-webkit-transition: opacity 0.5s 0s ease-in-out;
-moz-transition: opacity 0.5s 0s ease-in-out;
-o-transition: opacity 0.5s 0s ease-in-out;
-ms-transition: opacity 0.5s 0s ease-in-out;

}
.third-effect:hover .mask {
opacity: 1;
border: 100px solid rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.7);
}
.third-effect:hover a.info {
opacity: 1;
-moz-transition-delay: 0.3s;
-webkit-transition-delay: 0.3s;
-o-transition-delay: 0.3s;
-ms-transition-delay: 0.3s;
transition-delay: 0.3s;
}
<section class="module content">
<div class="view third-effect">
<img src="images/chronos.png" />
<div class="mask">
Full Image
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
In your css, you can use the :hover selector to modify the style of your element when your mouse hovers it.
Take a look at this example to see how you can use it.
http://jsfiddle.net/wof159fh/
.third-effect .mask {
opacity: 0;
overflow:visible;
border:100px solid rgba(0,0,0,0.7);
-moz-box-sizing:border-box;
-webkit-box-sizing:border-box;
box-sizing:border-box;
-webkit-transition: all 0.4s ease-in-out;
-moz-transition: all 0.4s ease-in-out;
-o-transition: all 0.4s ease-in-out;
-ms-transition: all 0.4s ease-in-out;
transition: all 0.4s ease-in-out;
width:274px;
height:197px;
}
.third-effect a.info {
position:relative;
top:-10px;
opacity: 0;
-webkit-transition: opacity 0.5s 0s ease-in-out;
-moz-transition: opacity 0.5s 0s ease-in-out;
-o-transition: opacity 0.5s 0s ease-in-out;
-ms-transition: opacity 0.5s 0s ease-in-out;
transition: opacity 0.5s 0s ease-in-out; }
.third-effect:hover .mask {
opacity: 1;
border:100px solid rgba(0,0,0,0.7);
}
.third-effect:hover a.info {
opacity:1;
-moz-transition-delay: 0.3s;
-webkit-transition-delay: 0.3s;
-o-transition-delay: 0.3s;
-ms-transition-delay: 0.3s;
transition-delay: 0.3s;
}
<section class="module content">
<div class="view third-effect">
<img src="images/chronos.png" >
<div class="mask">
Full Image
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
You can do it this way
#image {
background-image: url('http://lorempixel.com/400/200/');
width: 300px;
background-size: cover;
height: 300px;
}
#image:hover {
background-color: red;
background-image: none;
}
<div id="image"></div>
Im not sure if you want the overlaid div to be clickable or what. You can use javascript to set stuff up. So you can add a transparent color to the "hover" which would mask it in some color. ex: set opacity 0.8 with red.
Also there is the approach i did. http://jsfiddle.net/kv0fsLs2/
<div id="outer">
<div id="image"></div>
<div id="hover"></div>
</div>
#image {
background-color:red;
}
#hover {
position:absolute;
background-color: blue;
}
div > div {
width: 100px;
height: 100px;
top: 0px;
left: 0px;
}
#outer {
position:relative;
left: 250px;
top: 250px;
}
this way you can tie a click handler to the overlaid div, if you didnt want to do it to the actual item.
Edit: Here you can see it using opacity.... http://jsfiddle.net/kv0fsLs2/1/ All you would need to do is have the image be there instead of a red background as i did in the simplest of examples.
Edit 2: Here is another fiddle, actually using an image: http://jsfiddle.net/kv0fsLs2/2/
has anyone any idea if you can do this in jquery? Where clicking on a piece of the logo expands the rest? Example image:
Why use jQuery if this can be achieved using CSS?
HTML:
<div id='icon-wrapper'>
<img id='icon' alt='icon' src='http://i.stack.imgur.com/sKhJf.jpg?s=60&g=1'/>
<p>Text here</p>
</div>
CSS:
#icon-wrapper{
margin:0 auto;
height:110px;
width:110px;
overflow:hidden;
/* CSS Transitions */
-webkit-transition: all 1s ease;
-moz-transition: all 1s ease;
-ms-transition: all 1s ease;
-o-transition: all 1s ease;
transition: all 1s ease;
}
#icon-wrapper:after{
content:"";
display:block;
width:100%;
clear:both;
}
#icon-wrapper:hover{
width:300px;
}
#icon-wrapper:hover #icon{
margin-left:200px;
}
#icon{
-webkit-border-radius: 100%;
-moz-border-radius: 100%;
border-radius: 100%;
/* Position Absolute to put the icon on the top */
position:absolute;
z-index:10;
/* CSS Transitions */
-webkit-transition: all 1s ease;
-moz-transition: all 1s ease;
-ms-transition: all 1s ease;
-o-transition: all 1s ease;
transition: all 1s ease;
}
#icon-wrapper p{
color:black;
font-size:35px;
font-family:arial, helvetica;
/* Fixed width and float left is needed */
width:200px;
float:left;
}
It's long but without using jQuery is a plus point.
Note that we need to use fixed width for the elements, especially for the paragraph.
UPDATE:
For transparent icon, we need to hide the text first, using opacity:0;. Then add CSS Transition so we have smooth effect on hover. Finally, show the text on hover with opacity:1;. But this trick has a bug, sometimes the text didn't 'hide' fast, so it's still shown for a time in the icon. The best solution is adding a background color to the icon, using the same color as the container background.
Updated CSS (transparent text):
#icon-wrapper:hover p{
opacity:1;
}
#icon-wrapper p{
/* ... */
opacity:0;
-webkit-transition: all 2s ease-in;
-moz-transition: all 2s ease-in;
-ms-transition: all 2s ease-in;
-o-transition: all 2s ease-in;
transition: all 2s ease-in;
}
Updated CSS (using background color on the icon):
#icon{
/* ... */
background:white;
}
Here is a jsFiddle
Here is an updated fiddle for transparent icon.
Here is an updated fiddle with background color added to the icon.
Not sure if this is something you want.
Check the demo here: http://jsfiddle.net/SdanM/4/
HTML:
<div id="container">
<div id="img">Hidden Element</div>
<div id="btn">Hover to expand</div>
<div>
CSS: hide the hidden element first
#container {
position: relative;
}
#img {
background-color: yellow;
position: absolute;
width: 100px;
height: 50px;
top: 50px;
left: 50px;
display: none;
}
#btn {
background-color: red;
position: absolute;
width: 50px;
height: 50px;
top: 50px;
left: 50px;
}
jQuery: move the blocks
$("#container").mouseenter( function() {
$("#img").animate({
left: "-=50",
width: "show",
}, 1000);
$("#btn").animate({
left: "+=50",
}, 1000);
});
$("#container").mouseleave( function() {
$("#img").animate({
left: "+=50",
width: "hide",
}, 1000);
$("#btn").animate({
left: "-=50",
}, 1000);
});
I have a message box which I want to slide down on click. I do this by adding a css class through Angular (and jQuery in my example). But my CSS transition does not take effect.
Is there any obvious mistake I'm doing?
Here's my fiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/mBKXn/
and my code:
// jQuery
$('.test').on('click',function(){
$('#msgContainer').toggleClass('msgShow');
});
// HTML
<div class="container">
<div id="msgContainer" class="msg">
<p>Message here</p>
<p>T2</p>
<p>T4</p>
</div>
Test text
</div>
<button class="test">Click</button>
// CSS
.container{
position: relative;
height: 200px;
width: 400px;
border: solid 1px #222;
}
.msg{
position: absolute;
top: 0;
background-color: #FEEFB3;
height: 0;
width: 100%;
overflow: hidden;
-webkit-transition: height 0.8s linear;
-moz-transition: height 0.8s linear;
-o-transition: height 0.8s linear;
-ms-transition: height 0.8s linear;
transition: height 0.8s linear;
}
.msgShow{
height: auto;
}
To animate height from 0 to auto you have to use max-height instead:
.msg{
position: absolute;
top: 0;
background-color: #FEEFB3;
max-height: 0;
width: 100%;
overflow: hidden;
-webkit-transition: max-height 0.8s linear;
-moz-transition: max-height 0.8s linear;
-o-transition: max-height 0.8s linear;
-ms-transition: max-height 0.8s linear;
transition: max-height 0.8s linear;
}
.msgShow{
max-height: 1000px;
}
Seems to work: http://jsfiddle.net/mBKXn/3/
Also take a look at this question.
you need to set a defined height. Height:auto won't work as this is the default height value.
see the specs for the height property here:
http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS2/visudet.html#the-height-property
http://jsfiddle.net/mBKXn/7/
.msgShow{
height: 100%;
}
Another (older IE compliant) way to do this is through slideToggle.
Updated Fiddle that works and another Fiddle where I removed some of your transition css and it makes the animation smoother in my opinion.
your code needs a slight change:
$('.test').on('click',function(){
$('#msgContainer').slideToggle('slow');
});
and your class needs a slight change:
.msg{
display:none;
position: absolute;
top: 0;
background-color: #FEEFB3;
height: auto;
width: 100%;
overflow: hidden;
}
