I am trying to make a heat map highcart. I am graphing all purchases in a certain amount of time. I have an array of data point arrays[[timestamp,purchase amount],[timestamp,purchase amount]]. I want my graph to have a y-axis that shows the amount of the purchase and an x-axis that shows the time of day the purchase was made (all are between 8am - 6pm). It is not relevant what date a purchase is made, only the time. I have had to cheat and make the x-axis time linear and make the time a float like 10.55 (10:55). This is obviously not a good solution as it leaves gaps (.6-.99) in the graph. Any attempt I've done other than linear give me an x-axis showing a few minutes from midnight. Here is my current code with poor work around.
function scatterChartTimeMapper(timestamp){
var ourDate = new Date(timestamp*1000);
var hour = (ourDate.getHours()+1).toString();
var mins = ourDate.getMinutes();
if(mins<10)
mins = "0" + mins;
if(mins%10===0)
mins = mins.toString();
var time = hour + "." + mins;
return parseFloat(time);
}
for(i=0;i<data.length;i++)
{
var timePoint = scatterChartTimeMapper(parseFloat(data[i].trim()));
var segmentArray = [timePoint,parseFloat(data[i+1].trim())];
newArray.push(segmentArray);
i++;
}
My JSON for the graph is:

I received data from an api in this format:
[{"t":"2010-05-06T00:00:00Z","v":294},
{"t":"2010-05-07T00:00:00Z","v":103},

{"t":"2010-05-09T00:00:00Z","v":113}]
how can I draw a chart with highchart in my website with them. "t" have to convert to "time" and "v" to "volume"
this is my JS file. I need to remain in the chart property as much as I can.
Highcharts.chart('container', {

}
},

You need to map your data to the format required by Highcharts.
const data = [{
"t": "2010-05-06T00:00:00Z",
"v": 294
},
...
];
const seriesData = data.map(dataEl => [new Date(dataEl.t).getTime(), dataEl.v]);
Highcharts.chart('container', {
...,
series: [{
data: seriesData
}]
});

I have a heatmap that has a legend scale on the right side with label on top. I would like to know if it's possible to move the label "number of MMF share classes" below the legend scale in the same vertical position as the y-axis label on left?

An option could be use the code posted on this thread:
Quote:
Highcharts is not providing this option for legend title. You can
achieve your goal by translating your title in callback function:
function (chart) {
var title = chart.legend.title;
title.translate(x, y);
}
I've modified your code as follows:
Example:
legend: {
title: {
text: 'number of<br/>MMF share classes',
style: {
fontWeight: 'normal'
}
},
align: 'right',
//y: 80, // <- comment this line.
padding: 20,
verticalAlign: 'middle',
symbolHeight: 300
},
Then:
// After the "highcharts" settings, add:
, function(chart) {
var title = chart.legend.title;
title.translate(0, 370);
}
Here is the modified jsfiddle.
I need to create a highchart with jquery. I have given the Zoom type as x. The Zoom option in chart is not working when there are large amount of data.
In my X-Axis I will be having date value :
Below is my chart implementation:

},

}
},

}
},
series: getProductionRatio() --// This function will get the data for series
});
When I try to zoom the chart, the contents present in the chart gets hided.
Is there anything that needs to taken care in the point interval for X-Axis ?
Thanks in Advance !
When i have inconsistent data coming in (when for example the server that gathers the data is down) highcharts does not plot the X correctly.
It still plots like there is data on the X while there is not.
It should afcouse plot the correct hour when there actually is data.
Here is the fiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/ZVwFK/
Data variable is inconsistant!
Can someone show me how i can correct this error?

There are two ways of specifying time data for Highcharts and I think you are using the wrong way for the problem. It's the second style you should use when having gaps in the data.
A compact array without gaps only containing the values for each time-point
data: [2, 5, 3, 6, 1]
Then you specify the time-point for the first measure together with the interval. eg:
pointStart: Date.UTC(2013,1,12), // start point in milliseconds
pointInterval: 3600 // interval in milliseconds
You cannot have different length between the time-points this way.
A two dimensional array with both time-points and measure
data: [[Date.UTC(2013,1,12), 2],
[Date.UTC(2013,1,12), 5],
[Date.UTC(2013,1,12), 3],
...]
This way of specifying the array can have gaps where there's no data.
See the reference here
and example here.
I cannot seem to figure out how to set my tick interval correctly.
Need to have an hourly tick on the X axis.
The data is minute based.
Javascript:
$(function () {
var chart;
$(document).ready(function() {
chart = new Highcharts.Chart({
chart: {
renderTo: 'container',
type: 'spline'
},
title: {
text: 'Temperature Today'
},
xAxis: {
type: "datetime",
categories: time,
dateTimeLabelFormats: {
day: '%h'
},
minTickInterval: 24 * 36000000 * 1000,
},
yAxis: {
title: {
text: 'Temperature'
},
minorGridLineWidth: 0,
gridLineWidth: 0,
alternateGridColor: null
},
tooltip: {
formatter: function() {
return ''+
Highcharts.dateFormat('%e. %b %Y, %H:00', this.x) +': '+ this.y;
}
},
plotOptions: {
spline: {
lineWidth: 4,
states: {
hover: {
lineWidth: 5
}
},
marker: {
enabled: false,
states: {
hover: {
enabled: true,
symbol: 'circle',
radius: 5,
lineWidth: 1
}
}
},
}
},
series: [{
name: 'Asen',
data: temp
}]
,
navigation: {
menuItemStyle: {
fontSize: '6px'
}
}
});
});
});
Data arrays:
temp = [-4.39,-4.39,-4.33,-4.33,-4.33,-4.33,-4.33]
time = [1359910725000,1359910786000,1359910848000,1359910908000,1359910968000,1359911028000,1359911089000,1359911150000]
First of all, remove the 'categories' property on xAxis, this has no meaning on a datetime axis. Note that datetime axes are based on milliseconds, so an interval of one hour is expressed as 3600 * 1000. See API highcharts, tickInterval
use this config for the xAxis.
xAxis: {
type: "datetime",
dateTimeLabelFormats: {
day: '%H'
},
tickInterval: 3600 * 1000
},
See here for a working demo on JS Bin.
You should use tickInterval with value: 3600 * 1000
