AngularJs dropdown with ng-repeat - javascript

I'm trying to create a dropdown list from an angular controller:
My html code:
<select>
<option value="" disabled selected >Choose your option</option>
<option ng-repeat="ty in type">{{ty.$value}}</option>
</select>
Controller code:
var typeRef = new Firebase(FIREBASE_URL + "/type");
var typeArray = $firebase(typeRef).$asArray();
typeArray.$loaded().then( function (data) {
$scope.type = data;
console.log(data);
});
In this case it works:
<ul id='dropdown2' class='dropdown-content'>
<li ng-repeat="ty in type">{{ty.$value}}</li>
</ul>
The ty.$value works in above code, but in this <select> tag doesn't show anything any idea why is that?

You don't need to use ng-repeat, you can use ng-options
<select ng-options="ty.$value for ty in type" ng-model="something">
<select>

Use
<select ng-options="ty.$value as ty.$value for ty in type" ng-model="achvtype"> <option value="" disabled selected >Choose your option</option> </select>

How to Select Dropdown hidden option with Jquery Selector?

<select class="form-control" id="prodname" name="pname" >
<option value="0" disabled="disabled" selected="selected">-- Select Product --</option>
#{
foreach(var product in (List<tbleProdcutDetail>)ViewBag.productlist)
{
<option value="#product.Id">#product.Product_Name</option>
<option hidden>#product.Quantity</option>
}
}
</select>
I want to select this option.
<option hidden>#product.Quantity</option>
I have tried this selector but could not get text.
var productunitprice = $("#prodname option").find("hidden").text();
You can use var text = $("option:selected",this).next().text() Example below.
$("#prodname").change(function() {
var text = $("option:selected",this).next().text()
console.log(text)
})
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<select id="prodname">
<option value="1">1</option>
<option hidden>1.1</option>
<option value="2">2</option>
<option hidden>2.2</option>
</select>
As an alternative to adding many unused and hidden options.
You can add the unit price to the relevant option directly using a data attribute for example data-unit-price.
foreach(var product in (List<tbleProdcutDetail>)ViewBag.productlist)
{
<option value="#product.Id" data-unit-price="#product.Quantity">#product.Product_Name</option>
}
Then simply read it from the selected option. In my humble opinion it is cleaner and doesn't use additional hidden option elements as storage for data belonging to other options.
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#prodname").change(function() {
var productunitprice = $("option:selected", this).data('unitPrice')
console.log(productunitprice)
})
})
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<select class="form-control" id="prodname" name="pname">
<option value="1" data-unit-price="5.25">product 45</option>
<option value="2" data-unit-price="12.99">product 94</option>
</select>

<option value="" selected>Select the state</option>
</select>
<select ng-change="getData1(currentSelecteddistrict)" class="form-control" id="selection" ng-model="currentSelecteddistrict" ng-options="my.district as my.district for my in data1">
<option value="" selected>Select the district</option>

</body>
And my js code is

$http.get("company.in/ifsc/banklist").then(function(response){

});
$scope.getData = function(name){
$http.get("company.in/ifsc/state/" +name).then(function(response) {
$scope.newdata = response.data;
});
}
$scope.getData1= function(name1){
$http.get("company.in/ifsc/district/""+name+", +name1).then(function(response) {
$scope.data1 = response.newdata;
});
}
}]);
First two api are working fine, When i select particular state in second drop down its not taking the value , How to append fetched bankname and state to the third api? so that i get the list of district in the third drop down.... , can anyone please help?

Get the name of all selected items from select multiple="multiple" options dropdown

I am trying to get the name of all selected items from select multiple="multiple" options dropdown.
In my html page, I have the following code snippet:
<select id="ddlCategory" ng-model="myCategory.myCategoryName" multiple>
<option selected="selected" value="1">Washroom</option>
<option value="2">Restaurant</option>
</select>
In my JS file, I have the following code snippet:
var categoryNameArray = $('#ddlCategory').val();
console.log("category = " + categoryNameArray[0];
However, the variable categoryNameArray only gives me the array of the selected items, what I want is the name of the selected items. Can someone tell me a way how I can make this work? Thanks!
Since val isn't giving you what you want, I'm going to assume you want an array of the text of the selected items.
You can get that like this:
var selectedTextArray = $("#ddlCategory option:selected").map(function() {
return $(this).text();
}).get();
That finds all the selected items, then uses map to get the text of each of them (wrapped in a jQuery object), then uses get to turn that jQuery object into an array.
You can probably use return this.text; rather than return $(this).text();, since HTMLOptionElement has a text property (which most elements don't), but I'd be sure to test with my target browsers to be sure.
Example:
$("#btn").on("click", function() {
var selectedTextArray = $("#ddlCategory option:selected").map(function() {
return $(this).text();
}).get();
console.log(selectedTextArray);
});
Select some items, then click
<input type="button" id="btn" value="here">
<br>
<select id="ddlCategory" ng-model="myCategory.myCategoryName" multiple>
<option value="1">Washroom</option>
<option value="2">Restaurant</option>
<option value="3">Service Station</option>
<option value="4">Drive-Thru</option>
</select>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
Example with this.text instead of $(this).text():
$("#btn").on("click", function() {
var selectedTextArray = $("#ddlCategory option:selected").map(function() {
return this.text;
}).get();
console.log(selectedTextArray);
});
Select some items, then click
<input type="button" id="btn" value="here">
<br>
<select id="ddlCategory" ng-model="myCategory.myCategoryName" multiple>
<option value="1">Washroom</option>
<option value="2">Restaurant</option>
<option value="3">Service Station</option>
<option value="4">Drive-Thru</option>
</select>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
val() returns the values on the selected options, in your case 1, 2 .... You should use text() to get the names of the selected options. You can loop through all selected options using each() method and get the selected values using text():
$('a').on('click', function(e) {
e.preventDefault();
$('#ddlCategory option:selected').each(function(i, selected) {
console.log($(selected).text());
});
});
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<select id="ddlCategory" ng-model="myCategory.myCategoryName" multiple>
<option selected="selected" value="1">Washroom</option>
<option value="2">Restaurant</option>
</select>
Send
You can read more on how val() works here.
You can read more on how text() works here.
Try this:
var categoryNameArray =
$('#ddlCategory option:selected').map(function(){
return this.text;
}).get();
console.log("category = " + categoryNameArray);
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<select id="ddlCategory" ng-model="myCategory.myCategoryName" multiple>
<option selected="selected" value="1">Washroom</option>
<option selected="selected" value="2">Restaurant</option>
<option value="3">Coffee Shop</option>
<option value="4">Hotels</option>
</select>
Easy way to get all selected value is $('#ddlCategory').val();

AngularJS <select> not saving value in object?

I have this select element in a row (of which there can be a few) which represents an item. But the scope for manufacturer does not update when this is selected. The default for the item's manufacturer attribute is null (since when it's created - it no manufacturer has been selected yet)
<select ng-model="manufacturer" ng-options="manufacturers.name for manufacturers in manufacturers" ng-change="change()" class="ng-valid ng-dirty">
<option value="" selected="selected" class=""> --Select a Manufacturer--</option>
<option value="0">Choice1</option>
<option value="1">Choice2</option>
<option value="2">Choice3</option>
</select>
I guess my question is - how do I get the manufacturer attribute in the item to update with the select box?
Thanks!
If it helps - here's the scope of the cams item:
$scope.cams = [
{channels:1, manufacturer:null},
{channels:1, manufacturer:null}
];
Turns out ng-model="manufacturer" should have been ng-model="cam.manufacturer":
<select ng-model="cam.manufacturer" ng-options="manufacturers.name for manufacturers in manufacturers" ng-change="change()" class="ng-valid ng-dirty">
<option value="" selected="selected" class=""> --Select a Manufacturer--</option>
<option value="0">Choice1</option>
<option value="1">Choice2</option>
<option value="2">Choice3</option>
</select>
Now it works perfectly.
You could use this:
HTML
<selectmultiple ng-model="selectedValues">
<option ng-repeat="lang inLanguages" value="{{lang.name}}" ng-click="selected(selectedValues)">{{lang.name}}</option>
</select>
angularjs:
$scope.selected = function(nowSelected){
$scope.selectedValues = [];
if( ! nowSelected ){
return;
}
angular.forEach(nowSelected, function(val){
$scope.selectedValues.push(val);
});
};

Add value to a drop down menu with a form

Is there a way to insert values in a drop down menu with a simple form? I have this drop down menu
<form>
<select name="users" onchange="showUser(this.value)">
<option value="">Select a category:</option>
<option value="movie">Movie</option>
<option value="musik">Musik</option>
<option value="books">Books</option>
<option value="images">Images</option>
</select>
</form>
Should I use an array? I been searching the net but couldn't find anything that would help.
Here is a JavaScript solution to add items to a drop down.
The HTML to use..
<form>
<select id="categories" name="users" onchange="showUser(this.value)">
<option value="">Select a category:</option>
<option value="movie">Movie</option>
<option value="musik">Musik</option>
<option value="books">Books</option>
<option value="images">Images</option>
</select>
</form>
JavaScript code...
var categories = document.getElementById("categories");
var newOption = document.createElement('option');
newOption.innerText = "New value";
newOption.setAttribute('value', 'newvalue');
categories.appendChild(newOption);

jQuery code... (a lot shorter)
$("#categories").append("<option value='newvalue'>New Value</option>");
Here is the JavaScript JSFiddle and the jQuery JSFiddle to play with!
You could look into jQuery append() and option() with click event...
I've just created a working solution for you.
Don't know if this is what you was looking for, but this is how it works:
You simply just write the value and visual option name into a form text field: value, text which gives you this:
<option value="value">text</option>
<select id="mySelect"></select>
<p> </p>
<input type="text" id="string"><br>
<button id="append">Append</button>
$('#append').click(function(){
var str = $('#string').val();
var substr = str.split(', ');
$('#mySelect').append( new Option(substr[0],substr[1]));
});
Here is a working version: http://jsfiddle.net/SCf8m/1/
