Control the value of jquery bar - javascript

How can I check the value of a progress bar in jQuery?
Lets say that I push a button and it goes to 50% and if I push the button of 25% i would like to get an alert which says "You cant go under 50%"

<body>
<h1>bbt</h1>
<!--progress bar start-->
<div id="progressbar"></div>
<br />
<button onclick="set25()">Set to 25%</button>
<button onclick="set50()">Set to 50%</button>
<button onclick="set75()">Set to 75%</button>
<button onclick="set100()">Set to 100%</button>
<script>
$(function() {
$("#progressbar").progressbar({
value: 0
});
});
// Set progressbar to 25%
function set25() {
//somewhere here is the code about if statement.
$("#progressbar").progressbar("option", "value", 25);
}
// Set progressbar to 50%
function set50() {
$("#progressbar").progressbar("option", "value", 50);
}
// Set progressbar to 75%
function set75() {
$("#progressbar").progressbar("option", "value", 75);
}
// Set progressbar to 100%
function set100() {
$("#progressbar").progressbar("option", "value", 100);
}
</script>
<!--progress bar stops-->
</body>
</html>
Can you help me solve it?
Thanks.

Instead of having multiple functions like set25, set50 ... have a single function and send values to it. Something like this
function set(progressBarValue){}
And call it like this
<button onclick="set(25)">Set to 25%</button>
<button onclick="set(50)">Set to 50%</button>
<button onclick="set(75)">Set to 75%</button>
<button onclick="set(100)">Set to 100%</button>
In order to get the current value of a progress bar you can do this
$("#progressbar").progressbar("option", "value");
Overall it should look something like this
var myprogressbar;
$(document).ready(function () {
myprogressbar = $("#progressbar").progressbar({
value: 0
});
});
function set(val) {
var currVal = myprogressbar.progressbar("option", "value");
if(currVal > val){
alert('Cannot go lower');
return;
}
myprogressbar.progressbar("option", "value", val);
}
Here is a demo http://jsfiddle.net/dhirajbodicherla/NAs3V/381/

You can use one single function to perform the operations. And you can avoid inline JS which can be a nightmare to maintain.
$(function () {
$("#progressbar").progressbar({
value: 0
});
$('button[data-value]').on('click',function() {
var pbar = $('#progressbar'),
value = $(this).data('value'),
curValue = pbar.progressbar('value');
if( value < curValue ) {
alert("You can't go under " + curValue +"%!");
} else {
pbar.progressbar( 'value', value );
}
});
});

<script src="http://code.jquery.com/ui/1.9.2/jquery-ui.js"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://code.jquery.com/ui/1.9.2/themes/base/jquery-ui.css">
<div id="progressbar"></div>
<br />
<button data-value="25">Set to 25%</button>
<button data-value="50">Set to 50%</button>
<button data-value="75">Set to 75%</button>
<button data-value="100">Set to 100%</button>

multiselect div using left click and hotkeys in javascript/jquery

before i reinvent the wheel, i wanted to know if anyone already has written a js/jquery library that allows user to select multiple div elements by left clicking and holding the hot keys (just like in windows)
Currently i have only this much

Need help for a getInput function

I've been having trouble with my javascript code.
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>js-game</title>
<script src="script.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="story.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<link href="style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"/>
<meta charset="UTF-8">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0">
</head>
<body>
<div id="game">
<ul id="output">
<li onclick="main()">Click here to start!</li>
</ul>
<input autofocus id="inputLine" type="text">
<p onclick="" id="enterInput">ENTER</p>
</div>
</body>
</html>
// Variables
var log="<li>Hello</li>";
var lastVar="";
// Functions
function getInput() {
document.getElementById("enterInput").addEventListener("click", function() {
return document.getElementById("inputLine").value;
document.getElementById("inputline").value="";
});
}
function output(output) {
log=log + "<li>" + output + "</li>";
document.getElementById("output").innerHTML=log;
}
function main() {
output("What's your name?");
alert(getInput());
}
As you can probably see I want to get input from a <input type="text"> with the id of inputLine. And a button with the id of enterInput.
But all I get back is undefined, and I've been working on this for a long time, so I'm getting frustrated.
Sorry for bad english.
Try doing it like so:
document.getElementById("enterInput").addEventListener("click", getInput );
function getInput() {
var val = document.getElementById("inputLine").value;
//do something with val
document.getElementById("inputLine").value="";
return val;
}
See this demo
Or to fetch it as a variable with getInput():
document.getElementById("enterInput").addEventListener("click", function(event){
var val = getInput();
alert(val);
});
function getInput() {
var val = document.getElementById("inputLine").value;
document.getElementById("inputLine").value="";
return val;
}
See this demo

How to simulate the click event

I have the following code:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="css/tau.css">
<link rel="stylesheet" href="css/style.css">
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-1.9.1.js"></script>
</head>
<body onload="clickButton();">
<div class="ui-page" id="page_webkitui">
<header class="ui-header">
<h2 class="ui-title">Webkit UI demos</h2>
</header>
<div class="sample">
<input type="time" id="input_webkitui_hiddentime"
style="visibility: hidden; width: 50px"></input>
<div>
Hidden time:
<button class="ui-btn" id="button_webkitui_hiddendateopener"
style="display: block" onclick="alertTime()">Open timepicker</button>
<span id="webkitui_hiddentime_value"></span>
</div>
<script>
function alertTime() {
alert("fff");
var btn = document.getElementById("button_webkitui_hiddendateopener"),
itime = document.getElementById("input_webkitui_hiddentime"),
val = document.getElementById("webkitui_hiddentime_value");
btn.click();
btn.addEventListener("click", function(e) {
itime.click();
});
itime.addEventListener("change",function(ev) {
val.innerText = itime.value;
});
}
function clickButton() {
$(function() {
document.getElementById('button_webkitui_hiddendateopener').click();
//$('#button_webkitui_hiddendateopener').click();
});
}
(function() {
var page = document.getElementById("page_webkitui");
page.addEventListener(
"pagecreate",
function(ev) {
var btn = document.getElementById("button_webkitui_hiddendateopener"),
itime = document.getElementById("input_webkitui_hiddentime"),
val = document.getElementById("webkitui_hiddentime_value");
btn.addEventListener("click", function(e) {
itime.click();
});
itime.addEventListener("change",function(ev) {
val.innerText = itime.value;
});
});
}());
</script>
</div>
</div>
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/tau.js"></script>
</body>
</html>
I want to "force" the button_webkitui_hiddendateopener button to be clicked once my page is loaded... (a timepicker is shown normally as a new window).
I implement two functions clickButton() and alertTime(), as a result: only the ffff alert is shown but the new window of the timepicker didn't show up.
What's wrong?
Thanks in advance!
$(document).ready( function() {
$('#button_webkitui_hiddendateopener').trigger("click");
});

jQuery Carousel Stop at End

I am making a jQuery carousel that is populated using JSON. I need it to stop at the end. I calculate the width of the list by multiplying the number of list items by the width of the list item, so new items can be added without changing the width in the CSS. Here is my code
slider.js
$(document).ready(function() {
var w = $("#carouselList").css("width");
var slider = $("#carouselList");
var leftProperty, newLeftProperty;
$("#rightButton").click(function(){
leftProperty = parseInt(slider.css("left"));
if (leftProperty - 991 <= -w) {
newLeftProperty = 0;
}
else {
newLeftProperty = leftProperty - 304;
}
slider.animate({left: newLeftProperty}, 500);
});
$("#leftButton").click(function(){
leftProperty = parseInt(slider.css("left"));
if (leftProperty < 0){
newLeftProperty = leftProperty + 304;
}
else {
newLeftProperty = 0;
}
slider.animate({left: newLeftProperty}, 500);
});
});

How to stop animation with jQuery timers?

What happens now is that when i press stop.. the animation just reverses and loops again
When you call .stop() to stop the jQuery animation, change it to .stop(true) to clear the animation queue (docs here). I'm not sure why there is a queue, but it looks like it has something to do with the timers plugin that you are using. Use queue().length to see how many animations are left in the queue.
Please make sure that the stopAnimation is being called by adding some debugging (console.log()). You call stopAnimation without an argument, but the function has an argument, that's not used.
So add some debugging to stopanimation and the if(val==false) statement. If that all works as expected we can continue the search.
