I have the following HTML:
LINKY
<!-- Modal -->
<div class="modal fade" id="myModal" tabindex="-1" role="dialog" aria-labelledby="myModalLabel" aria-hidden="true">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-hidden="true">×</button>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<h4 class="modal-title" id="myModalLabel">Modal title</h4>
<iframe src="http://domainy.com/" width="100%" height="380" frameborder="0"
allowtransparency="true"></iframe>
</div>
</div>
<!-- /.modal-content -->
</div>
<!-- /.modal-dialog -->
</div>
<!-- /.modal -->
When I change the modal iframe src with the following JS, the content of .modal-content is completely overwritten with HTML loaded from the HREF in question on the button that toggled the modal.
$('[data-target="#myModal"]').on('click', function (e) {
e.preventDefault();
var _linky = $(this).attr('href');
var _target = $(this).data('target');
if (_target.length > 0) {
_target.find('iframe').attr('src', 'about:blank');
var _isRemote = false;
if (_linky.indexOf('http') > -1) {
_isRemote = true;
}
if (!_isRemote) {
if (_linky.indexOf('?') > -1) {
_linky += '&tmpl=component';
} else {
_linky += '?tmpl=component';
}
}
_target.find('iframe').attr('src', _linky).load(function() {
_target.modal('show');
});
}
});
$('body').on('hidden.bs.modal', '.modal', function () {
$(this).removeData('bs.modal');
});
How can I prevent Bootstrap from replacing everything in .modal-content?
_target was simple a string value representing an elements ID - not a jQuery object.

I have a button that calls a modal that opens a Barcode Scanner. I would like to know if there is a way to add this code below that is a HTML file view and point to this view when click the button? I have tried to do it like this but it doesn't work for me.
What I did in the button I added the reference of the folder where is located with the data target but it does not call the modal it only works if I add on the same view .
File
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/html5-qrcode/2.1.6/html5-qrcode.min.js"></script>
<div class="modal" id="livestream_scanner" role="dialog">
<div class="modal-dialog" role="document">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<h5 class="modal-title">Barcode Scanner</h5>
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-label="Close">
<span aria-hidden="true">×</span>
</button>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<div id="qr-reader" style="width:450px"></div>
</div><!-- /.modal-body -->
</div><!-- /.modal-content -->
</div><!-- /.modal-dialog -->
<script>
function docReady(fn) {
// see if DOM is already available
if (document.readyState === "complete"
|| document.readyState === "interactive") {
// call on next available tick
setTimeout(fn, 1);
} else {
document.addEventListener("DOMContentLoaded", fn);
}
}
docReady(function () {
var resultContainer = document.getElementById('qr-reader-results');
var lastResult, countResults = 0;
function onScanSuccess(decodedText, decodedResult) {
if (decodedText !== lastResult) {
++countResults;
lastResult = decodedText;
window.location.href = "#Url.Action("Run", "Search")?criteria=" + lastResult;
}
}
var html5QrcodeScanner = new Html5QrcodeScanner(
"qr-reader", { fps: 10, qrbox: 250 });
html5QrcodeScanner.render(onScanSuccess);
});
</script>
<style>
##media screen and (max-width: 660px) {
#qr-reader {
max-width: 300px; /* New width for default modal */
}
}
</style>
</div><!-- /.modal -->
Button when the modal is being called
<li class="nav-item">
<a class="btn btn-outline-info mx-2 mx-sm-1" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#livestream_scanner" href="~/Orders/BarcodeScanner" title="Scan Barcode"><i class="bi bi-upc-scan"></i></a>
</li>
After closing modal window the i frame element keeps playing and I don't have a clue how to refer to proper element in JS.
The trick is that I use PHP variable as an ID to generate and use multiple modal windows straight from my database.
The code goes as follows:
foreach ($movieId as $data) {
echo '<div class="card card-movie-poster bg-blacker text-white text-center text-align-middle mx-2 mb-3">
<div class="card-body">
<a data-toggle="modal" href="#myModal'.$data['movieID'].'"><img class="card-img " src="img/movieCovers/'.$data['datatitle'].'.jpg"></a>
</div>
</div>';}
And
foreach ($movieId as $datatitle) {
echo '<div class="modal fade" id="myModal'.$data['movieID'].'">
<div class="modal-dialog modal-lg modal-dialog-centered" role="document">
<div class="modal-content bg-black">
<div class="modal-header">
<!-- Movie Title -->
<h3 class="text-white-50">'.$data['movieTitle'].'</h3>
<!-- Close button -->
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-label="Close">
<span aria-hidden="true">×</span>
</button>
</div>
<div class="modal-body container">
<!-- Video -->
<div class="embed-responsive embed-responsive-16by9">
<iframe id="'.$data['movieID'].'" class="embed-responsive-item" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/'.$data['videoUrl'].'?rel=0&showinfo=0" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
';}
You can try:
$("#myModal").on('hidden.bs.modal', function (e) {
$("#myModal iframe").attr("src", $("#myModal iframe").attr("src"));
});
OK then.
Finally did it myself:
var grabbed = document.querySelectorAll('[id^="myModal"]');
var myModal;
var innerIframe;
for (var i = 0; i < grabbed.length; i++) {
// console.log(grabbed[i].id);
$(grabbed[i]).on('show.bs.modal', function () {
myModal = this.id;
// console.log(this.id);
})
$(grabbed[i]).on('hide.bs.modal', function () {
// console.log(this.id + " closed");
innerIframe = this.getElementsByClassName('embed-responsive-item');
$('iframe').attr('src', $('iframe').attr('src'));
// console.log(innerIframe[0]);
});
}
On the page I have a button with several data attributes, title and audioURL. One click, I have some javascript that populates a modal window with the title, and simple html5 audio player with the data-audioURL in the src attribute. Once that is complete, I initialize MediaElement. On success, I play the audio.
When the user closes the modal window, I want to remove the MediaElement so that another button with a different title and audioURL can populate the audio player and then reinitialize MediaElement. Currently, the code I have succeeds to stop the audio playback, but it doesn't destroy the player.
HTML:
<button type="button" class="btn btn-info btn-lg btn-block" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#closerLook" data-title="Song Title" data-audio="audio.mp3"><i class="fa fa-headphones" aria-hidden="true"></i> Hear a Sample</button>
<div class="modal fade" id="closerLook" tabindex="-1" role="dialog">
<div class="modal-dialog" role="document">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-label="Close"><span aria-hidden="true">×</span></button>
<h4 class="modal-title text-center">Audio Modal</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<h3 id="cl-title" class="text-center"></h3>
<audio id="audioSample" preload="meta" tabindex="0" controls><source src=""/></audio>
</div>
</div>
</div>
JS:
$(document).ready(function(){
var me;
$('#closerLook').on('shown.bs.modal', function (event) {
$('#audioSample').attr("src", "");
var button = $(event.relatedTarget);
var theTitle = button.data('title');
var theAudio = button.data('audio');
var modal = $(this);
modal.find('#cl-title').text(theTitle);
$('#audioSample').attr("src", theAudio);
loadPlayer();
});
$('#closerLook').on('hide.bs.modal', function (event) {
console.log(me);
me.remove();
});
});
function loadPlayer() {
$('#audioSample').mediaelementplayer({
audioWidth: '100%',
success: function(mediaElement, originalNode, instance) {
mediaElement.play();
me = mediaElement;
}
});
}
I know I'm missing something in the hide.bs.modal function to properly remove the player, I just don't know what. Thanks in advance.
move var me out of document.ready and initialize the variable inside the success function with instance see the working example below
var me;
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#closerLook').on('shown.bs.modal', function(event) {
let button = $(event.relatedTarget);
let theTitle = button.data('title');
let theAudio = button.data('audio');
let modal = $(this);
modal.find('#cl-title').text(theTitle);
//setSrc (src)
$('#audioSample').attr("src", theAudio);
loadPlayer();
});
$('#closerLook').on('hide.bs.modal', function(event) {
console.log('removing');
//me.pause();
me.remove()
});
});
function loadPlayer() {
$('#audioSample').mediaelementplayer({
audioWidth: '100%',
error:function(mediaElement, originalNode, instance) {
console.log('error');
},
success: function(mediaElement, originalNode, instance) {
console.log('success');
console.log(mediaElement)
instance.play();
me = instance;
}
});
}

I have created bootstrap modal, and appending some html through AJAX...
I am not able to show perfect width as per content. I have tried:
width: 'auto'; //it looks as in Screenshot
width: 100%; //it takes whole page width
It looks like:
var PopupHelper = {
Show: function () {
$("#popup_content").empty();
var qAjax = new AjaxHelper("/Services/Service.asmx/GetCurrentPopupContent");
qAjax.OnSuccess = function (data) {
$("#popup_content").html(data);
$('#popup-Model').css({ 'width' : 'auto','overflow': 'auto' });
$("#popup-Model").modal();
}
qAjax.Init();
}
}
<!--Popup Window -->
<div class="modal fade" id="popup-Model" tabindex="-1" role="dialog" aria-labelledby="myModalLabel" aria-hidden="true">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-hidden="true" style="margin-top:-10px !important">×</button>
</div>
<div class="modal-body" id="popup_content">
</div>
</div>
<!-- /.modal-content -->
</div>
<!-- /.modal-dialog -->
</div>
<!--Popup Window -->
How to make modal width, as per the content inside modal-body?
NOTE: modal HTML shown in image can vary
Thanks!!!
Since you're already using javascript to render this modal, it will be easier to just set the modal-dialog width to the same width as your content. It's hard to do this only with CSS because modal-dialog have fixed width (varying per screen size).
$("#popup_content").html(data);
$("#popup-Model").modal();
setTimeout(() => {
//change div:first-child to whatever your first child is
var width = $("#popup_content div:first-child").width() + 30; //Padding
$(".modal .modal-dialog").css({ 'width' : width+'px' });
}, 0); //Maybe you'll need a longer timeout because of css transitions
working example
Worked in OP case as:
$("#popup_content").empty();
var qAjax = new AjaxHelper("/Services/Service.asmx/GetCurrentPopupContent");
qAjax.OnSuccess = function (data) {
$("#popup_content").html('<div class="test-div">' + data + '</div>');
$("#popup-Model").modal();
setTimeout(function () {
//change div:first-child to whatever your first child is
var width = $("#popup_content div:first-child").width() + 50; //padding
$(".modal-dialog").css({ 'width': width + 'px' });
$('#popup-Model').css({ 'overflow': 'auto' });
}, 500);
add row and col-* class in your popup to handle content
<!--Popup Window -->
<div class="modal fade" id="popup-Model" tabindex="-1" role="dialog" aria-labelledby="myModalLabel" aria-hidden="true">
<div class="modal-dialog">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-hidden="true" style="margin-top:-10px !important">×</button>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<div class="col-xs-12" id="popup_content"></div>
</div>
</div>
<!-- /.modal-content -->
</div>
<!-- /.modal-dialog -->
</div>
<!--Popup Window -->
try to use min-width and position:relative style to "model-body" class. I hope it will work.
Below is the code I am working with as an example.
When I click each image from the Flickr feed I want to be able to load the Bootstrap Modal (which it does) but display that particular photo in the Modal (which it currently doesnt).
I've tried numerous different things. But I am unable to get it to work.
Example at http://jahax.com/ins/
<div class="container">
<h2 style="text-align: center;">Demonstration</h2>
<p class="text-center">Demo of Bootstrap, jQuery & JSON API</p>
<div class="row text-center">
</div>
<div id="images" class="row text-center"> </div>
</div>
<div class="modal fade" id="myModal" tabindex="-1" role="dialog" aria-labelledby="nyModalLabel" aria-hidden="true">
<div class="modal-dialog modal-lg">
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-hidden="true">×</button>
<h4 class="modal-title" id="myModalLabel">Demo of Modal</h4>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<img id="mimg" src="">
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default" data-dismiss="modal">Close</button>

<script src="https://code.jquery.com/jquery.js"></script>
<script src="js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
// Start jQuery Function
$(document).ready(function(){
// JSON API to access Flickr
$.getJSON("http://api.flickr.com/services/feeds/photos_public.gne?tags=winter&format=json&jsoncallback=?", displayImages);

var iCount = 0;
var htmlString = "<div class=row>";
$.each(data.items, function(i,item){
if (iCount < 18) {
var sourceSquare = (item.media.m).replace("_m.jpg", "_q.jpg");
htmlString += '<a class="btn" data-toggle="modal" data-target="#myModal">';
htmlString += '<img src="' + sourceSquare + '">';
htmlString += '</a>';

Change your 2nd script to this:
<script type="text/javascript">
// Send Content to Bootstrap Modal
$(document).on('click', 'img', function(){
var sr=$(this).attr('src');
$('#mimg').attr('src',sr);
$('#myModal').modal('show');
});
