I have next code
function navigate(_hash){
alert('before');
//try#1
window.location.hash = _hash;
//try#2
// window.location.href=window.location.href.split("#")[0]+"#" +url;
alert('after');
}
navigate('someurl')
the issue is that after changing url hash (both variants) app just hangs. And interesting thing that second alert is not firing. so app just... crashes after some time.
Nothing in js console.
Debug log says
The thread 0x*** has exited with code 259 (0x103).
google found nothing on that. Seems like this is acommon error code.
More details:
i'm using ChaplinJs so just can't get away from hash navigation.
second thought was that chaplin overloads system and we caanot get anywhere, but(!) putting logs and alerts in source of lib in window.on('hashchange',....) also didn't make any effort because we do not get there also.
WP 8.0
tried both Cordova 4.* and 5.*
also tried to modify xhrXelper.cs but it is not related tonavigation itself.
PS: I know that jquery mobile suggests to disable hashchanges onmobile navigation. But i can't :(
PPS: also tried todisable chaplin haschanges
new App({routes: routes, controllerSuffix: '-controller', pushState: false,hashChange:true})
but this also didn't make any good results because it's placing hash to href to check it in interval and app hanged again. So i assume that is a webview problem
More additional info:
continious re-run of app makes it work sometimes (1 run of 10 can make it work). That's very strange.
Emulator and device behave in the same way.
Update: Read somewhere that it's critical to restrict navigting before "deviceready" event.
But this is also not a case.
Update2: create cordova proj from scratch. Added hash change indeviceready cb and it hangs
Update3: same code on 8.1 works perfect

So, we have a mobile download site that we want to bypass if the user already has our app installed, and open our app. We are using the branch javascript code to try to accomplish this task. We have our branch key where I have 'my_branch_key', and we copied the rest of the code below directly out of the branch instructions. And, of course, it is failing to redirect our mobile users. I imagine the problem is the lack of some sort of app identifier in the code, but we could not find any instructions on where to add that. Anyone know what we're missing and where we need to add it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
// load the Branch SDK file
(function(b,r,a,n,c,h,_,s,d,k){if(!b[n]||!b[n]._q){for(;s<_.length;)c(h,_[s++]);d=r.createElement(a);d.async=1;d.src="https://cdn.branch.io/branch-latest.min.js";k=r.getElementsByTagName(a)[0];k.parentNode.insertBefore(d,k);b[n]=h}})(window,document,"script","branch",function(b,r){b[r]=function(){b._q.push([r,arguments])}},{_q:[],_v:1},"addListener applyCode banner closeBanner creditHistory credits data deepview deepviewCta first getCode init link logout redeem referrals removeListener sendSMS setIdentity track validateCode".split(" "), 0);
branch.init('my_branch_key');
// define the deepview structure
branch.deepview(
{
'channel': 'mobile_web',
'feature': 'deepview',
data : {
'source': 'website'
}
},
{
'open_app': true
}
);
Additional info: We noticed an oddity when trying to test this, for a couple of our iPhone users, it seems to work perfectly, but for the rest of the iPhone users and all the android users it still fails to redirect.
Alex with Branch.io here: the automatic open_app: true setting actually doesn't work in iOS 9 with Safari, due to some changes Apple made to Universal Links in iOS 9.3. This is a fairly recent change, so our docs haven't been updated quite yet. It's annoying, I agree...
The best workaround is to put a button on the page with deepviewCta(). Visitors will have to click it to open the app. We realise this is not ideal, but it's the best option for Apple's current system.
The other option you can try is enabling your own domain for Universal Link. That way whenever a URL at your domain is clicked, your app will launch immediately and the site will never even be loaded.
I've given the docs a good looking over as well as SO, however can't seem to find any answers.
I have a packaged chrome app (new style, not legacy)
I can find many documents on enabling logging as in errors/crash reports, but can't find anything about custom logging. For example:
On initial load some 3rd party data is loaded via a api call, lets just assume it:
$http.get('/api/get-my-data').onSuccess(function(data){
// Yay, I gotz the dataz. Do something
}).onFail(function(error) {
// Damn son, something went wrong.
});
In the above pseudo code I'd like add to a chrome error/custom log to record the onFail condition. I'm not looking to record error in the sense that the app has crashed or a fatal error, I'm looking to log events that in the context of the app running correctly I regard as errors.
If an error caused the app to crash etc then I'd get a entry in the chrome logs, but there must (I assume) be away to log data directly to a log on the server that isn't considered an error (perfectly common if this was a web app on a server (log4j, KLogger, Morgan)) but I can't find it
Anyone else created a chrome packaged add and used the inbuilt logging?
Thanks
N.B. Just to be clear, we are talking about logging in a packaged app with javascript to a log file, not console.log
Thought I'd answer this incase someone else comes across it as it's not clear form the google docs.
when you use console.log it gets sent to your strdout/chrome log file.
You have to enable logging in your chrome app launch config/flags, then any console.log in your code will show up where ever you set your user-dir to be.
It's not clear from the documentation, but basically your chrome app will automatically log and console.log you have
This includes other console methods.
I am using the the Cordova Push Plugin: http://ngcordova.com/docs/plugins/pushNotifications/
This works fine in Android Platform. But, for IOS, I face the following issue:
I register listener for '$cordovaPush:notificationReceived' event as per the documentation and provide the same implementation as given in the documentation in the link above (given below for ease):
$rootScope.$on('$cordovaPush:notificationReceived', function(event, notification) {
if (notification.alert) {
navigator.notification.alert(notification.alert);
}
if (notification.sound) {
var snd = new Media(event.sound);
snd.play();
}
if (notification.badge) {
$cordovaPush.setBadgeNumber(notification.badge).then(function(result) {
// Success!
}, function(err) {
// An error occurred. Show a message to the user
});
}
});
There are 3 scenarios:
1. App is running in foreground. In such case, even though the notification arrives (confirmed by log statements), no visible action happens on the device.
I expected the below two statements to execute but they dont.
navigator.notification.alert(notification.alert);
snd.play();
App is running in background. In such case, the statements seem to execute as per expected behaviour.
App is NOT running at all (coldstart). In this case, the notification and sound are played but when user click on notification, the app opens and hangs / crashes.
Has anyone encountered these problems before? What is the best way to solve these? This is only for IOS.
The plugin you are using is deprecated.
i also used it before and there are many issues.
i would reccomend to use the plugin: phonegap-plugin-push
easy to install and will solve your issue
As mentioned by #Nechemya Kanelsky, use the newer version of the push plugin and scenario 1 and 2 will be handled. But with that plugin as well, the 3rd issue still remains, as mentioned here
You can use the fix for 3rd issue, mentioned here
My app at http://beta.billboard.fm is producing errors in my normal browsing session after playing a single song.
If i reload the page in incognito, the app works fully. I only recently starting experiencing these issues. I have completed cleared all of the cache and it works again, but only temporarily before throwing the same errors.
Additionally I have disable all browser extensions.
But, no matter what I do I can't get this error from being thrown by the Youtube API:
Unable to post message to http://www.youtube.com. Recipient has origin https://www.youtube.com
It looks like there is a mismatch in the security protocols. I tried changing them to https or just removing "http:" all together on my side. But it did not resolve the issue.
Any one have an idea what is happening here?
It is quite clear to me at this point that this is a major bug in Google/YouTube's API. They have written some bad code somewhere. This bug is not a consistent thing. This is well documented by the fact that everybody's code works just fine for an extended period of time, and then they discover that all of a sudden their sites stop working properly. Additionally, all of my websites that had this problem last week are now working without a glitch - again, without me altering code.
So while it sucks to say this - the onus is on Google & YouTube to fix this and provide APIs that actually work as advertised... It doesn't look to me like there's anything we can do about it on our own :(
I am having the same problem - I also tried changing my links to http: to https: and vice-versa with no luck. I found this tread on Google Groups, but so far there has been no response. https://code.google.com/p/gdata-issues/issues/detail?id=4697
Clearing my cache allowed the player to work for a few videos, but after 3 or 4, the same error pops back up.
UPDATE 2 - Dec. 24, 2013: This solution has not actually fixed the problem at all:
After following a thread that poulified referred me to in his answer, a user in the forum posted the following solution which seems to be doing the trick for me (UPDATE: Still experiencing issues on random page loads :/):
Hi all,
It is working for replacing http:// with https://
example: http://jsfiddle.net/8tkgW/29/
Please make sure the following tips
load iframe api https://www.youtube.com/player_api
load iframe src path: https://www.youtube.com/embed/0GN2kpBoFs4?rel=0
If load player via new YT.Player, you must check the iframe src path:
setTimeout(function(){
var url = $('#iframe_youtube').prop('src');
if (url.match('^http://') {
$('#iframe_youtube').prop('src', url.replace(/^http:\/\//i, 'https://'));
}
}, 500);

I am creating a small javascript simulation of a java-based (JSF) server. The bootstrap javascript file will download and parse a bunch of files using AJAX, and then generate a large HTML string. This HTML string is a full HTML document - it has a doctype, head, script includes, inline scripts, body, etc.
The reason I do not want to use the real JSF back-end is because I would like to be able to have a pure UI environment to test my code without any java/oracle server slowing me down.
I want to share my code (in a .zip file for example) with anyone and they should be able to open the page (with a small loading screen while the AJAX calls are made) in any browser without some server already installed on their machine.
The answer to that question led me to explore more - now I've run into a different error but I cannot seem to explain it.
Fiddle #1 : This one attempts to put the HTML into an iframe using the iframe's document.write. In this HTML there is a script that pushes a new history state history.pushState(null, null, hash)
Fiddle #2 : This one attempts to put the HTML into the iframe, but this time it just uses location.hash = hash
Both fiddles seem to work fine in Chrome and Safari and IE 9 - but Firefox gives the following error:
NS_ERROR_FAILURE: Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIDOMHistory.pushState]
I don't understand this error - if you do this same code history.pushState(null,null,"#test") on any page in firefox using the javascript console in FireBug it works fine - but in this particular situation it doesn't work.
I also tried to perform document.open(); document.write(html); document.close() on the document in the current page (instead of creating an iframe), but the same problem happened - only this time if I put break points in firebug into javascript code inserted in the HTML fragment, the breakpoints don't work which would mean I could no longer debug anything in firefox. At least with the iframe approach, the breakpoints work.
Can anyone shed some light into this problem?
Here is another related question that I asked yesterday which lead to finding this error: Firefox Fail - After using document.write and update to location.hash causes page refresh
You can put this code
history.pushState(null,null,"#test")
before
document.open();
document.write(html);
document.close();
I have run into a similar issue trying to open an Ember app using history.pushState (Ember Router location: 'history' method of routing) inside an iframe. It appears the issue only occurs when doing a hard refresh (cmd + shift + r on Mac or ctrl + f5 on Windows) in Firefox. The issue only occurs for me in FireFox, works fine in Chrome and Safari with similar hard refresh.
The issue does not occur for me when navigating to the page for the first time or when normally refreshing the page (cmd + r Mac, f5 Windows). I have found many seemingly related on Bugzilla for Mozilla but many are close. This one seems to represent the same issue I am having and is still open as of current versions of Firefox (v37.0.1 at time of writing).
