javascript set target date and time tomorrow at hour - javascript

I'm trying to make a count down timer that counts down to a couple different hours depending on the time of the day.
Here's how I've tried to set the function for the time. So if its before 14.00, it would count down to 14.00 and if it's after 14.00, it would count down to 20.00. After 20.00, it would show the count down to 14.00 tomorrow.
Ive tried to set the target time like this, but setting the date for "tomorrow at 14.00" I just cant get to work.

setDate() method doesn't return Date object, so this sequence wouldn't work
You should write
target_date.setDate(currentdate.getDate()+1);
target_date.setHours(16,0,0,0);

Countdown reset on specific time

Currently I have a script, which has a countdown for a specific date, but I want the countdown to be specific on a timer, so let's say if I start the timer and I have set the timer to run for 30 days, it will then run for 30 days and then reset back to 30 days again and start running. Is it possible to change it to do so?

I really advice you to take advantage of JavaScript libraries , in your case moment JS is the perfect solution, you can check their documentation and see how you can manage time easily. Anyways here is the solution of your question using moment js.
First download moment js and add it to your page.

The answer above works, but I noticed the second timer is showing to be an hour longer away than the first timer.

Why does getElementsByClassName return undefined?

I am making a basic counter that counts down the days, hours, mins, and seconds until a date. I was able to find a tutorial on how to go about making this part. I keep getting an error at line 48 where I type elements[i].innerHTML. It is saying elements is undefined at that point in time. I did some troubleshooting and found elements becomes undefined after the switch statement. Why is this?

I would like to continue using a switch and for loop to accomplish this task in case I choose to add more dates.
The setInterval executes after the function is run, by which point i has incremented to 4. You should create a closure over the element to preserve it

I guess there is issue of scope. Try removing 'var' keyword from the declaration of 'elements' variable. It will make the element global. It should work.

php javascript jquery countdown?

I have a future date from a datetime field in a mysql database, it will only ever be no more than an hour or two ahead of the current time.
What I need is it to display a countdown in real time on the page, eg "2 minutes 5 secs", that obv counts down every second.
Would I need javascript for this? Or is jquery etc the new thing?
I dont know either, only a little php.
