Display svg element horizontal instead of vertical - javascript

I created a poc of the given link http://bl.ocks.org/mbostock/4061502, but i wish to display it horizontal instead of vertical.
I was wondering if that can be done using rotate method, so i tried this:-
d3.select("body").selectAll("svg.box").attr("transform", "rotate(90)");
The mark up given below changes are only the attribute is added but the svg element is still vertical.
Earlier:
The box element
Later:
The box element
Where am i going wrong?

Make div stick to non-child div with JQuery

So I'm trying to make a double slider in Owl-Carousel 2.0,
The first slider has 9 images, which means it has 9 dots. These dots are in placed in a container, #customdots. I'm trying to make the position of these dots be: horizontally centered (which works), and appear on top of the second slider, so position, bottom should be the height of the second slider (#sync2).
I tried using JQuery to do this, with the following line of code:
$("#customDots").css('bottom', $("#sync2").outerHeight()+ "px");
However, this doesn't get the actual #sync2 height, and it doesn't update on moving the window, neither does using height().
How would I go about making this #customDots div stick to the top of #sync2, when it can't be a child of #sync2?
See full codepen here: http://codepen.io/JJvanSteijn/pen/aJxgdW
I would wrap #sync2 in an element (I created #sync2Container), use that new element to position the second slider at the bottom of the window, and just add the dots to the top of that element. http://codepen.io/mcoker/pen/JWgKxJ
You need to add height to the CSS for #sync2:
#sync2{height:210px}
and use JS code to get the height:
$('#customDots').css('padding-bottom','0px');
$('#customDots').css('bottom',sync2.outerHeight());
Hope it's useful.

Creating focus on element that's behind a different element

all. I'm a beginner trying to create my own website.
For an input field, I want the text to appear behind horizontal lines. To achieve this, I created a container div element with many sub divs each two pixels high with a bottom border of one pixel, then placed the container div in front of the input field.
The problem is that when hovering over the input field, the cursor only changes into the "text" style cursor in the small area at the very left edge of the input field not covered by the horizontal lines created by the sub div elements.
What I would like to happen, and I fear I may need Javascript, is to have the cursor, when hovering over the container div's horizontal lines, turn into the "text" cursor and when clicked for the focus to activate within the input field.
I hope my question isn't confusing. Thank you in advance.
Add this CSS to your div with horizontal lines:
pointer-events: none;
This indicates that your div element should not become the target of mouse events, effectively letting them "pass through" it.
For more information, see the MDN article on pointer-events.
Assuming that I'm understanding your question, you do need to use JavaScript. Using jQuery you can do the following:
$('.horizontalLines').click(function() {
$('.inputField').focus();
});
This just makes it so that clicking one div will select the text input box.

JavaScript (w/jQuery) - grow an element to fill container on hover, when surrounded by other elements

I have a grid of elements (3 x 3) formation which toggle visibility on hover, easy.
However my next step is to grow said elements to fill their container when hovered upon, I'm assuming I would need to get current (x,y) values and then grow this to the (x,y) values of the parent container and use css positioning, however every approach I take is hitting a brick wall. I have a fiddle here which demonstrates the layout / intended functionality - http://jsfiddle.net/u2w7J/
Any help would be gratefully appreciated!
The way your HTML is set up currently, this is kind of hard to accomplish while having it look smooth. A first try is to use the .toggleClass function and toggle "box" and "miniBox" for the hovered element. See http://jsfiddle.net/u2w7J/6/ for a demo.
Positioning is harder since the miniBoxes are not positioned absolutely. Hence, adding animation is causing weird results (see above demo).
I would suggest to have the miniBoxes positioned absolutely. When hovering, get the parents div left and top values and animate the miniBox using these values. Additionally, raise z-index during or before the animation to prevent other miniBoxes being visible.

How can I use this JQuery plugin to move an object X positions?

http://desandro.com/demo/masonry/docs/
I got this to display nicely. But,
How can I modify this plugin so that when someone clicks an object, it does the nice "re-ordering" effect as seen in: http://desandro.com/demo/masonry/docs/filtering.html#demo
And it moves the object "X" positions up or down the list?
Is it easy to modify this to do that?
From the moment that all elements has float:left; when the user click the button hide the element with specific classes, for example if he clicks grey, then will hide red and black. In jquery the above example would be like this:
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#grey-button").click(function(){
$(".red, .black").hide()
});
});
This will hide all elements with classes red and black, adding the css property display and value none.
This will make the browser don't "see" them, so the rest elements will be positioned in a different place, according the floats you have set for them.

Add Hover display for table cell

I have a table, but it is not in a list format, meaning not a column/row format. I look for specific cells to add a hover event that displays a description of the cell.
$("#TableID td").hover(function(){
//ifCellThatIWant
$(this).append("<span>Message that was brought in</span>");
},
function(){
$(this).children().remove();
});
The problem is right now is that the hover displays a span(with info. inside) that I used jquery to append the span to the cell when mouseover, which expands the cell, which is an effect that I don't like or want. I'm Trying to have an out of the table look,but still be by the cell that triggered the event; because if the span has a lot of info. in it, expanding the cell dynamically will start to look pretty nasty. Also will help if I had some type of css direction on how will I make the display for the mouseover "description" span look nice. My mind thought is that a way to accomplish what I want is giver the appended span the position of my mouse cursor when hover, but not sure if its the right approach or what the syntax would look like.
Make the span display as block and set the z-index greater than anything else on the page. Then you can absolute position it and set the left and top properties to the x and y positions of the mouse location.
EDIT:
Here's a demo of what I mean --> http://jsbin.com/odape. Instead of appending a span, I would suggest just creating a placeholder one at the bottom of your html to use for each cell and just change the text to display (not sure how you were bringing it in so I didn't add it in my example.
