asp:FileUpload control not getting file value when using fake input - javascript

I try to customize my asp:FileUpload control by using some css trick. When I finally upload the picture, it seems that the asp:FileUpload did not grab the file.
In the aspx page:
<style>
#file {
display:none;
}
</style>
<div>
<div style="float:left;">
<asp:Button ID="btnSelectPicture" runat="server" CssClass="btn2small" Text="Select Picture" OnClientClick="javascript:return false;" />
</div>
<asp:FileUpload ID="fuPicture" runat="server" />
<div id="inputUploadFileName" style="float:left; line-height: 2; margin: 0 15px;">No picture selected</div>
<div style="float:left;">
<asp:Button ID="btnUploadPicture" runat="server" Text="Upload" CssClass="btn2small" OnClick="btnUploadPicture_Click" ValidationGroup="vgUploadp"/>
</div>
<div id="errorFormatPicture" class="errorMessage" style="float:left; line-height:2; margin-left: 15px;"></div>
</div>
<script>
var wrapper = $('#<%=fuPicture.ClientID%>').css({ height: 0, width: 0, 'overflow': 'hidden' });
var fileInput = $('#<%=fuPicture.ClientID%>').wrap(wrapper);
fileInput.change(function () {
$this = $(this);
var fileName = $this.val();
fileName = fileName.substring(fileName.lastIndexOf('\\') + 1, fileName.length);
if (fileName.length == 0)
fileName = "No picture selected";
else {
extension = fileName.substring(fileName.lastIndexOf('.') + 1, fileName.length);
if (extension != "jpg" && extension != "png")
$("#errorFormatPicture").text(" * png or jpg only");
else {
$("#errorFormatPicture").text("");
$('#inputUploadFileName').text(fileName);
}
}
})
$('#<%=btnSelectPicture.ClientID%>').click(function () {
fileInput.click();
return false;
}).show();
</script>
Then in the aspx.cs page:
protected void btnUploadPicture_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Response.Write("has file? " + fuPicture.HasFile + "<BR>");
if (fuPicture.HasFile)
{
try
{
if (fuPicture.PostedFile.ContentType == "image/jpeg" || fuPicture.PostedFile.ContentType == "image/png")
{
if (fuPicture.PostedFile.ContentLength < 500000)
{
string fileDirectory = string.Format("/images/upload/ServiceRequest/{0}/temp_request/", UserId);
System.IO.Directory.CreateDirectory(fileDirectory);
string fileName = Path.GetFileName(fuPicture.FileName);
string _fullFile = fileDirectory + fileName;
fuPicture.SaveAs(_fullFile);
lbErrorUploadPicture.Text = "uploaded";
//Loadthumbnail();
}
else
lbErrorUploadPicture.Text = "Pictures must be less than 500 kb";
}
else
lbErrorUploadPicture.Text = "Pictures must be jpeg or png format";
}
catch (Exception ex)
{
lbErrorUploadPicture.Text = "Unexpected error: Pictures could not be uploaded. ";
}
}
}
The FileUpload never has a file in it. Where should I change it? Thank you all.

Nothing jumps out to me immediately. I'd suggest:
First, comment out your JavaScript. Does the FileUpload control work when you are not modifying the underlying HTML markup first? If so, take a closer look at these 2 lines in your JavaScript:
var wrapper = $('#<%=fuPicture.ClientID%>').css({ height: 0, width: 0, 'overflow': 'hidden' });
var fileInput = $('#<%=fuPicture.ClientID%>').wrap(wrapper);
Perhaps the culprit lies in trying to hide that value in the markup.

I want to be able to preview a file (image) before it is uploaded. The preview action should be executed all in the browser without using Ajax to upload the image.
How can I do this?
imgInp.onchange = evt => {
const [file] = imgInp.files
if (file) {
blah.src = URL.createObjectURL(file)
}
}
<form runat="server">
<input accept="image/*" type='file' id="imgInp" />
<img id="blah" src="#" alt="your image" />
</form>
There are a couple ways you can do this. The most efficient way would be to use URL.createObjectURL() on the File from your <input>. Pass this URL to img.src to tell the browser to load the provided image.
Here's an example:
<input type="file" accept="image/*" onchange="loadFile(event)">
<img id="output"/>
<script>
var loadFile = function(event) {
var output = document.getElementById('output');
output.src = URL.createObjectURL(event.target.files[0]);
output.onload = function() {
URL.revokeObjectURL(output.src) // free memory
}
};
</script>
You can also use FileReader.readAsDataURL() to parse the file from your <input>. This will create a string in memory containing a base64 representation of the image.
<input type="file" accept="image/*" onchange="loadFile(event)">
<img id="output"/>
<script>
var loadFile = function(event) {
var reader = new FileReader();
reader.onload = function(){
var output = document.getElementById('output');
output.src = reader.result;
};
reader.readAsDataURL(event.target.files[0]);
};
</script>
One-liner solution:
The following code uses object URLs, which is much more efficient than data URL for viewing large images (A data URL is a huge string containing all of the file data, whereas an object URL, is just a short string referencing the file data in-memory):
<img id="blah" alt="your image" width="100" height="100" />
<input type="file"
onchange="document.getElementById('blah').src = window.URL.createObjectURL(this.files[0])">
Generated URL will be like:
blob:http%3A//localhost/7514bc74-65d4-4cf0-a0df-3de016824345
Try This
To PREVIEW the image before uploading it to the SERVER from the Browser without using Ajax or any complicated functions.
It needs an "onChange" event to load the image.
function preview() {
frame.src=URL.createObjectURL(event.target.files[0]);
}
<form>
<input type="file" onchange="preview()">
<img id="frame" src="" width="100px" height="100px"/>
</form>
To preview multiple image click here
The answer of LeassTaTT works well in "standard" browsers like FF and Chrome.
The solution for IE exists but looks different. Here description of cross-browser solution:
In HTML we need two preview elements, img for standard browsers and div for IE
HTML:
<img id="preview"
src=""
alt=""
style="display:none; max-width: 160px; max-height: 120px; border: none;"/>
<div id="preview_ie"></div>
In CSS we specify the following IE specific thing:
CSS:
#preview_ie {
FILTER: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoader(sizingMethod=scale)
}
In HTML we include the standard and the IE-specific Javascripts:
<script type="text/javascript">
{% include "pic_preview.js" %}
</script>
<!--[if gte IE 7]>
<script type="text/javascript">
{% include "pic_preview_ie.js" %}
</script>
The pic_preview.js is the Javascript from the LeassTaTT's answer. Replace the $('#blah') whith the $('#preview') and add the $('#preview').show()
Now the IE specific Javascript (pic_preview_ie.js):
function readURL (imgFile) {
var newPreview = document.getElementById('preview_ie');
newPreview.filters.item('DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoader').src = imgFile.value;
newPreview.style.width = '160px';
newPreview.style.height = '120px';
}
That's is. Works in IE7, IE8, FF and Chrome. Please test in IE9 and report.
The idea of IE preview was found here:

<input type=file oninput="pic.src=window.URL.createObjectURL(this.files[0])">
<img id="pic" />
I have edited #Ivan's answer to display "No Preview Available" image, if it is not an image:
function readURL(input) {
var url = input.value;
var ext = url.substring(url.lastIndexOf('.') + 1).toLowerCase();
if (input.files && input.files[0]&& (ext == "gif" || ext == "png" || ext == "jpeg" || ext == "jpg")) {
var reader = new FileReader();
reader.onload = function (e) {
$('.imagepreview').attr('src', e.target.result);
}
reader.readAsDataURL(input.files[0]);
}else{
$('.imagepreview').attr('src', '/assets/no_preview.png');
}
}
Here's a multiple files version, based on Ivan Baev's answer.
The HTML
<input type="file" multiple id="gallery-photo-add">
<div class="gallery"></div>
JavaScript / jQuery
$(function() {
// Multiple images preview in browser
var imagesPreview = function(input, placeToInsertImagePreview) {
if (input.files) {
var filesAmount = input.files.length;
for (i = 0; i < filesAmount; i++) {
var reader = new FileReader();
reader.onload = function(event) {
$($.parseHTML('<img>')).attr('src', event.target.result).appendTo(placeToInsertImagePreview);
}
reader.readAsDataURL(input.files[i]);
}
}
};
$('#gallery-photo-add').on('change', function() {
imagesPreview(this, 'div.gallery');
});
});
Requires jQuery 1.8 due to the usage of $.parseHTML, which should help with XSS mitigation.
This will work out of the box, and the only dependancy you need is jQuery.
Yes. It is possible.
Html
<input type="file" accept="image/*" onchange="showMyImage(this)" />
<br/>
<img id="thumbnil" style="width:20%; margin-top:10px;" src="" alt="image"/>
JS
function showMyImage(fileInput) {
var files = fileInput.files;
for (var i = 0; i < files.length; i++) {
var file = files[i];
var imageType = /image.*/;
if (!file.type.match(imageType)) {
continue;
}
var img=document.getElementById("thumbnil");
img.file = file;
var reader = new FileReader();
reader.onload = (function(aImg) {
return function(e) {
aImg.src = e.target.result;
};
})(img);
reader.readAsDataURL(file);
}
}

This will be useful when you want The event to triggered indirectly from a div or a button.

TO PREVIEW MULTIPLE FILES using jquery

Example with multiple images using JavaScript (jQuery) and HTML5
JavaScript (jQuery)
function readURL(input) {
for(var i =0; i< input.files.length; i++){
if (input.files[i]) {
var reader = new FileReader();
reader.onload = function (e) {
var img = $('<img id="dynamic">');
img.attr('src', e.target.result);
img.appendTo('#form1');
}
reader.readAsDataURL(input.files[i]);
}
}
}
$("#imgUpload").change(function(){
readURL(this);
});
}
Markup (HTML)
<form id="form1" runat="server">
<input type="file" id="imgUpload" multiple/>
</form>
In React, if the file is in your props, you can use:
{props.value instanceof File && (
<img src={URL.createObjectURL(props.value)}/>
)}
How about creating a function that loads the file and fires a custom event. Then attach a listener to the input. This way we have more flexibility to use the file, not just for previewing images.
/**
* #param {domElement} input - The input element
* #param {string} typeData - The type of data to be return in the event object.
*/
function loadFileFromInput(input,typeData) {
var reader,
fileLoadedEvent,
files = input.files;
if (files && files[0]) {
reader = new FileReader();
reader.onload = function (e) {
fileLoadedEvent = new CustomEvent('fileLoaded',{
detail:{
data:reader.result,
file:files[0]
},
bubbles:true,
cancelable:true
});
input.dispatchEvent(fileLoadedEvent);
}
switch(typeData) {
case 'arraybuffer':
reader.readAsArrayBuffer(files[0]);
break;
case 'dataurl':
reader.readAsDataURL(files[0]);
break;
case 'binarystring':
reader.readAsBinaryString(files[0]);
break;
case 'text':
reader.readAsText(files[0]);
break;
}
}
}
function fileHandler (e) {
var data = e.detail.data,
fileInfo = e.detail.file;
img.src = data;
}
var input = document.getElementById('inputId'),
img = document.getElementById('imgId');
input.onchange = function (e) {
loadFileFromInput(e.target,'dataurl');
};
input.addEventListener('fileLoaded',fileHandler)
Probably my code isn't as good as some users but I think you will get the point of it. Here you can see an example
Following is the working code.
<input type='file' onchange="readURL(this);" />
<img id="ShowImage" src="#" />
Javascript:
function readURL(input) {
if (input.files && input.files[0]) {
var reader = new FileReader();
reader.onload = function (e) {
$('#ShowImage')
.attr('src', e.target.result)
.width(150)
.height(200);
};
reader.readAsDataURL(input.files[0]);
}
}
Try this
window.onload = function() {
if (window.File && window.FileList && window.FileReader) {
var filesInput = document.getElementById("uploadImage");
filesInput.addEventListener("change", function(event) {
var files = event.target.files;
var output = document.getElementById("result");
for (var i = 0; i < files.length; i++) {
var file = files[i];
if (!file.type.match('image'))
continue;
var picReader = new FileReader();
picReader.addEventListener("load", function(event) {
var picFile = event.target;
var div = document.createElement("div");
div.innerHTML = "<img class='thumbnail' src='" + picFile.result + "'" +
"title='" + picFile.name + "'/>";
output.insertBefore(div, null);
});
picReader.readAsDataURL(file);
}
});
}
}
<input type="file" id="uploadImage" name="termek_file" class="file_input" multiple/>
<div id="result" class="uploadPreview">
What about this solution?
Just add the data attribute "data-type=editable" to an image tag like this:
<img data-type="editable" id="companyLogo" src="http://www.coventrywebgraphicdesign.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/logo-here.jpg" height="300px" width="300px" />
And the script to your project off course...
function init() {
$("img[data-type=editable]").each(function (i, e) {
var _inputFile = $('<input/>')
.attr('type', 'file')
.attr('hidden', 'hidden')
.attr('onchange', 'readImage()')
.attr('data-image-placeholder', e.id);
$(e.parentElement).append(_inputFile);
$(e).on("click", _inputFile, triggerClick);
});
}
function triggerClick(e) {
e.data.click();
}
Element.prototype.readImage = function () {
var _inputFile = this;
if (_inputFile && _inputFile.files && _inputFile.files[0]) {
var _fileReader = new FileReader();
_fileReader.onload = function (e) {
var _imagePlaceholder = _inputFile.attributes.getNamedItem("data-image-placeholder").value;
var _img = $("#" + _imagePlaceholder);
_img.attr("src", e.target.result);
};
_fileReader.readAsDataURL(_inputFile.files[0]);
}
};

ES2017 Way
// convert file to a base64 url
const readURL = file => {
return new Promise((res, rej) => {
const reader = new FileReader();
reader.onload = e => res(e.target.result);
reader.onerror = e => rej(e);
reader.readAsDataURL(file);
});
};
// for demo
const fileInput = document.createElement('input');
fileInput.type = 'file';
const img = document.createElement('img');
img.attributeStyleMap.set('max-width', '320px');
document.body.appendChild(fileInput);
document.body.appendChild(img);
const preview = async event => {
const file = event.target.files[0];
const url = await readURL(file);
img.src = url;
};
fileInput.addEventListener('change', preview);
Here is a much easy way to preview image before upload using pure javascript;
//profile_change is the id of the input field where we choose an image
document.getElementById("profile_change").addEventListener("change", function() {
//Here we select the first file among the selected files.
const file = this.files[0];
/*here i used a label for the input field which is an image and this image will
represent the photo selected and profile_label is the id of this label */
const profile_label = document.getElementById("profile_label");
//Here we check if a file is selected
if(file) {
//Here we bring in the FileReader which reads the file info.
const reader = new FileReader();
/*After reader loads we change the src attribute of the label to the url of the
new image selected*/
reader.addEventListener("load", function() {
dp_label.setAttribute("src", this.result);
})
/*Here we are reading the file as a url i.e, we try to get the location of the
file to set that as the src of the label which we did above*/
reader.readAsDataURL(file);
}else {
//Here we simply set the src as default, whatever you want if no file is selected.
dp_label.setAttribute("src", "as_you_want")
}
});
And here is the HTML;
<label for="profile_change">
<img title="Change Profile Photo" id="profile_label"
src="as_you_want" alt="DP" style="height: 150px; width: 150px;
border-radius: 50%;" >

How to load an image locally and display its contents using HTML [duplicate]

I want to be able to preview a file (image) before it is uploaded. The preview action should be executed all in the browser without using Ajax to upload the image.
How can I do this?
imgInp.onchange = evt => {
const [file] = imgInp.files
if (file) {
blah.src = URL.createObjectURL(file)
}
}
<form runat="server">
<input accept="image/*" type='file' id="imgInp" />
<img id="blah" src="#" alt="your image" />
</form>
There are a couple ways you can do this. The most efficient way would be to use URL.createObjectURL() on the File from your <input>. Pass this URL to img.src to tell the browser to load the provided image.
Here's an example:
<input type="file" accept="image/*" onchange="loadFile(event)">
<img id="output"/>
<script>
var loadFile = function(event) {
var output = document.getElementById('output');
output.src = URL.createObjectURL(event.target.files[0]);
output.onload = function() {
URL.revokeObjectURL(output.src) // free memory
}
};
</script>
You can also use FileReader.readAsDataURL() to parse the file from your <input>. This will create a string in memory containing a base64 representation of the image.
<input type="file" accept="image/*" onchange="loadFile(event)">
<img id="output"/>
<script>
var loadFile = function(event) {
var reader = new FileReader();
reader.onload = function(){
var output = document.getElementById('output');
output.src = reader.result;
};
reader.readAsDataURL(event.target.files[0]);
};
</script>
One-liner solution:
The following code uses object URLs, which is much more efficient than data URL for viewing large images (A data URL is a huge string containing all of the file data, whereas an object URL, is just a short string referencing the file data in-memory):
<img id="blah" alt="your image" width="100" height="100" />
<input type="file"
onchange="document.getElementById('blah').src = window.URL.createObjectURL(this.files[0])">
Generated URL will be like:
blob:http%3A//localhost/7514bc74-65d4-4cf0-a0df-3de016824345
Try This
To PREVIEW the image before uploading it to the SERVER from the Browser without using Ajax or any complicated functions.
It needs an "onChange" event to load the image.
function preview() {
frame.src=URL.createObjectURL(event.target.files[0]);
}
<form>
<input type="file" onchange="preview()">
<img id="frame" src="" width="100px" height="100px"/>
</form>
To preview multiple image click here
The answer of LeassTaTT works well in "standard" browsers like FF and Chrome.
The solution for IE exists but looks different. Here description of cross-browser solution:
In HTML we need two preview elements, img for standard browsers and div for IE
HTML:
<img id="preview"
src=""
alt=""
style="display:none; max-width: 160px; max-height: 120px; border: none;"/>
<div id="preview_ie"></div>
In CSS we specify the following IE specific thing:
CSS:
#preview_ie {
FILTER: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoader(sizingMethod=scale)
}
In HTML we include the standard and the IE-specific Javascripts:
<script type="text/javascript">
{% include "pic_preview.js" %}
</script>
<!--[if gte IE 7]>
<script type="text/javascript">
{% include "pic_preview_ie.js" %}
</script>
The pic_preview.js is the Javascript from the LeassTaTT's answer. Replace the $('#blah') whith the $('#preview') and add the $('#preview').show()
Now the IE specific Javascript (pic_preview_ie.js):
function readURL (imgFile) {
var newPreview = document.getElementById('preview_ie');
newPreview.filters.item('DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoader').src = imgFile.value;
newPreview.style.width = '160px';
newPreview.style.height = '120px';
}
That's is. Works in IE7, IE8, FF and Chrome. Please test in IE9 and report.
The idea of IE preview was found here:

This is size improvement of cmlevy answer - try
<input type=file oninput="pic.src=window.URL.createObjectURL(this.files[0])">
<img id="pic" />
I have edited #Ivan's answer to display "No Preview Available" image, if it is not an image:
function readURL(input) {
var url = input.value;
var ext = url.substring(url.lastIndexOf('.') + 1).toLowerCase();
if (input.files && input.files[0]&& (ext == "gif" || ext == "png" || ext == "jpeg" || ext == "jpg")) {
var reader = new FileReader();
reader.onload = function (e) {
$('.imagepreview').attr('src', e.target.result);
}
reader.readAsDataURL(input.files[0]);
}else{
$('.imagepreview').attr('src', '/assets/no_preview.png');
}
}
Here's a multiple files version, based on Ivan Baev's answer.
The HTML
<input type="file" multiple id="gallery-photo-add">
<div class="gallery"></div>
JavaScript / jQuery
$(function() {
// Multiple images preview in browser
var imagesPreview = function(input, placeToInsertImagePreview) {
if (input.files) {
var filesAmount = input.files.length;
for (i = 0; i < filesAmount; i++) {
var reader = new FileReader();
reader.onload = function(event) {
$($.parseHTML('<img>')).attr('src', event.target.result).appendTo(placeToInsertImagePreview);
}
reader.readAsDataURL(input.files[i]);
}
}
};
$('#gallery-photo-add').on('change', function() {
imagesPreview(this, 'div.gallery');
});
});
Requires jQuery 1.8 due to the usage of $.parseHTML, which should help with XSS mitigation.
This will work out of the box, and the only dependancy you need is jQuery.
Yes. It is possible.
Html
<input type="file" accept="image/*" onchange="showMyImage(this)" />
<br/>
<img id="thumbnil" style="width:20%; margin-top:10px;" src="" alt="image"/>
JS
function showMyImage(fileInput) {
var files = fileInput.files;
for (var i = 0; i < files.length; i++) {
var file = files[i];
var imageType = /image.*/;
if (!file.type.match(imageType)) {
continue;
}
var img=document.getElementById("thumbnil");
img.file = file;
var reader = new FileReader();
reader.onload = (function(aImg) {
return function(e) {
aImg.src = e.target.result;
};
})(img);
reader.readAsDataURL(file);
}
}

Example with multiple images using JavaScript (jQuery) and HTML5
JavaScript (jQuery)
function readURL(input) {
for(var i =0; i< input.files.length; i++){
if (input.files[i]) {
var reader = new FileReader();
reader.onload = function (e) {
var img = $('<img id="dynamic">');
img.attr('src', e.target.result);
img.appendTo('#form1');
}
reader.readAsDataURL(input.files[i]);
}
}
}
$("#imgUpload").change(function(){
readURL(this);
});
}
Markup (HTML)
<form id="form1" runat="server">
<input type="file" id="imgUpload" multiple/>
</form>
In React, if the file is in your props, you can use:
{props.value instanceof File && (
<img src={URL.createObjectURL(props.value)}/>
)}
How about creating a function that loads the file and fires a custom event. Then attach a listener to the input. This way we have more flexibility to use the file, not just for previewing images.
/**
* #param {domElement} input - The input element
* #param {string} typeData - The type of data to be return in the event object.
*/
function loadFileFromInput(input,typeData) {
var reader,
fileLoadedEvent,
files = input.files;
if (files && files[0]) {
reader = new FileReader();
reader.onload = function (e) {
fileLoadedEvent = new CustomEvent('fileLoaded',{
detail:{
data:reader.result,
file:files[0]
},
bubbles:true,
cancelable:true
});
input.dispatchEvent(fileLoadedEvent);
}
switch(typeData) {
case 'arraybuffer':
reader.readAsArrayBuffer(files[0]);
break;
case 'dataurl':
reader.readAsDataURL(files[0]);
break;
case 'binarystring':
reader.readAsBinaryString(files[0]);
break;
case 'text':
reader.readAsText(files[0]);
break;
}
}
}
function fileHandler (e) {
var data = e.detail.data,
fileInfo = e.detail.file;
img.src = data;
}
var input = document.getElementById('inputId'),
img = document.getElementById('imgId');
input.onchange = function (e) {
loadFileFromInput(e.target,'dataurl');
};
input.addEventListener('fileLoaded',fileHandler)
Probably my code isn't as good as some users but I think you will get the point of it. Here you can see an example
Following is the working code.
<input type='file' onchange="readURL(this);" />
<img id="ShowImage" src="#" />
Javascript:
function readURL(input) {
if (input.files && input.files[0]) {
var reader = new FileReader();
reader.onload = function (e) {
$('#ShowImage')
.attr('src', e.target.result)
.width(150)
.height(200);
};
reader.readAsDataURL(input.files[0]);
}
}
Try this
window.onload = function() {
if (window.File && window.FileList && window.FileReader) {
var filesInput = document.getElementById("uploadImage");
filesInput.addEventListener("change", function(event) {
var files = event.target.files;
var output = document.getElementById("result");
for (var i = 0; i < files.length; i++) {
var file = files[i];
if (!file.type.match('image'))
continue;
var picReader = new FileReader();
picReader.addEventListener("load", function(event) {
var picFile = event.target;
var div = document.createElement("div");
div.innerHTML = "<img class='thumbnail' src='" + picFile.result + "'" +
"title='" + picFile.name + "'/>";
output.insertBefore(div, null);
});
picReader.readAsDataURL(file);
}
});
}
}
<input type="file" id="uploadImage" name="termek_file" class="file_input" multiple/>
<div id="result" class="uploadPreview">
What about this solution?
Just add the data attribute "data-type=editable" to an image tag like this:
<img data-type="editable" id="companyLogo" src="http://www.coventrywebgraphicdesign.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/logo-here.jpg" height="300px" width="300px" />
And the script to your project off course...
function init() {
$("img[data-type=editable]").each(function (i, e) {
var _inputFile = $('<input/>')
.attr('type', 'file')
.attr('hidden', 'hidden')
.attr('onchange', 'readImage()')
.attr('data-image-placeholder', e.id);
$(e.parentElement).append(_inputFile);
$(e).on("click", _inputFile, triggerClick);
});
}
function triggerClick(e) {
e.data.click();
}
Element.prototype.readImage = function () {
var _inputFile = this;
if (_inputFile && _inputFile.files && _inputFile.files[0]) {
var _fileReader = new FileReader();
_fileReader.onload = function (e) {
var _imagePlaceholder = _inputFile.attributes.getNamedItem("data-image-placeholder").value;
var _img = $("#" + _imagePlaceholder);
_img.attr("src", e.target.result);
};
_fileReader.readAsDataURL(_inputFile.files[0]);
}
};

const reader = new FileReader();
reader.onload = e => res(e.target.result);
reader.onerror = e => rej(e);
reader.readAsDataURL(file);
});
};
// for demo
const fileInput = document.createElement('input');
fileInput.type = 'file';
const img = document.createElement('img');

const url = await readURL(file);

Here is a much easy way to preview image before upload using pure javascript;
//profile_change is the id of the input field where we choose an image
document.getElementById("profile_change").addEventListener("change", function() {
//Here we select the first file among the selected files.
const file = this.files[0];
/*here i used a label for the input field which is an image and this image will
represent the photo selected and profile_label is the id of this label */
const profile_label = document.getElementById("profile_label");
//Here we check if a file is selected
if(file) {
//Here we bring in the FileReader which reads the file info.
const reader = new FileReader();
/*After reader loads we change the src attribute of the label to the url of the
new image selected*/
reader.addEventListener("load", function() {
dp_label.setAttribute("src", this.result);
})
/*Here we are reading the file as a url i.e, we try to get the location of the
file to set that as the src of the label which we did above*/
reader.readAsDataURL(file);
}else {
//Here we simply set the src as default, whatever you want if no file is selected.
dp_label.setAttribute("src", "as_you_want")
}
});
And here is the HTML;
<label for="profile_change">
<img title="Change Profile Photo" id="profile_label"
src="as_you_want" alt="DP" style="height: 150px; width: 150px;

But I get this, I believe, but I'm unable to write this in a code block while debugging, for some reason.
<img src="http://thisismydomain.com/https://i.imgur.com/MiOeWrk.jpg" style="max-width:800px;">
Here's my script. Please advise:
<div>Show Image</div>
<div id="jsdebug">jsdebug</div>
<div id="video_aba">video_aba</div>
<script>
function viewimage(ytlink, uid) {
var imagelink = ytlink;
document.getElementById("jsdebug").innerHTML = imagelink;
var uid = uid;
if (imagelink.length == 0) {
imageembed = "<strong>Sorry, unable to load.</strong>";
} else {
imageembed = "<img src=\"/" + imagelink + "\" style=\"max-width:800px\">";
}
document.getElementById("video_aba").innerHTML = imageembed;
}
</script>
https://jsfiddle.net/gde5630h/
The problem is what your image link coded . It's like this imageembed = "<img src=\"/" + imagelink + "\" style=\"max-width:800px\">";
/ => this will prepend to your current domain url eg.if your domain is localhost it will goes localhost/https://i.imgur.com/MiOeWrk.jpg
So remove / from your image link
Your attribution is not correct. href should be replaced with onclick event.
"href" is not used for javascript events. It is used to link the webpages.
javascript events are onclick, onhover, onmouseenter, etc.
function viewimage(ytlink, uid) {
var imagelink = ytlink;
var uid = uid;
if (imagelink.length == 0) {
imageembed = "<strong>Sorry, unable to load.</strong>";
} else {
imageembed = `<img src="${ytlink}" style="width:800px">`;
}
document.getElementById("video_aba").innerHTML = imageembed;
document.getElementById("jsdebug").innerText = imageembed;
}
a {
color: blue;
text-decoration: underline;
cursor: pointer;
}
<div>Show Image</div>
<div id="jsdebug">jsdebug</div>
<div id="video_aba">video_aba</div>

Display & push Multiple image using javascript & html

im basic developer just wanted to push images one after other when an new image is been selected by user ,
following is my javascript :-
preview.js
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
$(function () {
$("#fileupload").change(function () {
if (typeof (FileReader) != "undefined") {
var dvPreview = $("#dvPreview");
dvPreview.html("");
var regex = /^([a-zA-Z0-9\s_\\.\-:])+(.jpg|.jpeg|.gif|.png|.bmp)$/;
$($(this)[0].files).each(function () {
var file = $(this);
if (regex.test(file[0].name.toLowerCase())) {
var reader = new FileReader();
reader.onload = function (e) {
var img = $("<img />");
img.attr("style", "height: 100px; width: 100px; margin-top: 20px;");
img.attr("src", e.target.result);
dvPreview.append(img);
}
reader.readAsDataURL(file[0]);
} else {
alert(file[0].name + " is not a valid image file.");
dvPreview.html("");
return false;
}
});
} else {
alert("This browser does not support HTML5 FileReader.");
}

This code displays the image perfectly , but only in single instance( thumbnail gets changed every time he selects an image) .
What is neccessary to just push & show the thumbnail of all the images that user wants to upload ? .
Searching google , Points which can be usefull :-
using Array &
using foreach loop
Any one can explain the proper syntax ? It would be great . Thank you .

Fix Header Row of ASP.NET GridView

Before getting in details, I would like to mention I've tried various solutions from stackoverflow and net too. But, none suitable in my scenario. So, I provided detailed information.
In an ASP.NET 2.0 Web Application, a gridview controls is used and columns of that gridview are generated at runtime with respect to user's settings.
So, in Default.aspx the gridview definition is as below:
<div id="DivListB" runat="server" onscroll="SaveScrollValue(); SetListFloatingHeader()" visible="True">
<asp:GridView ID="ObjList" runat="server" OnLoad="ReloadGrid" CssClass="ObjList" AutoGenerateColumns="false" OnRowDataBound="ObjList_RowDataBound" AutoGenerateSelectButton="false" OnSelectedIndexChanged="ObjList_SelectedIndexChanged" OnRowCreated="ObjList_RowCreated">
<Columns>
<asp:TemplateField HeaderText="&nbsp" ItemStyle-Width="46px" ItemStyle-HorizontalAlign="Center">
<HeaderTemplate>
<asp:CheckBox AutoPostBack="true" ID="chkAll" runat="server" OnCheckedChanged="HeaderChk_Changed" />
</HeaderTemplate>
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:CheckBox AutoPostBack="true" ID="chkRow" runat="server" Checked='<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Selection")%>' OnCheckedChanged="ChkRow_OnCheckChange" />
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
</Columns>
</asp:GridView>
The gridview columns are added at runtime and below method creates the columns depending upon user settings from web.config:
private void CreateDefaultGridView(Hashtable htPartSchema)
{
string sTempHeader, sTempAlignment, sTempWidth, sTempVisible;
try
{
//get partlist settings section from web.config
NameValueCollection plConfigKeys = (NameValueCollection)ConfigurationManager.GetSection("CONFIG_SETTINGS/PL_SETTINGS");
//cond: check partlist config keys exist
if (plConfigKeys != null && plConfigKeys.Count > 0)
{
//loop: every key present in configruation
foreach (string key in plConfigKeys)
{
//cond: config key is present in part schema
if (htPartSchema.ContainsKey(key.ToUpper()) == true)
{
//create new databound column
BoundField gridCol = new BoundField();
//assign datafield to bind with data table column
gridCol.DataField = key;
//get value from config key
string sKeyValue = plConfigKeys[key].ToString();
try
{
string[] sTempArray = sKeyValue.Split(new string[] { "|" }, StringSplitOptions.RemoveEmptyEntries);
sTempHeader = sTempArray[0];
sTempAlignment = sTempArray[1];
sTempWidth = sTempArray[2];
sTempVisible = sTempArray[3];
PLDefaultColumnHeaderAlignments.Add(sTempHeader, sTempAlignment);
PLDefaultColumHeaderWidths.Add(sTempHeader, sTempWidth);
}
catch
{
sTempHeader = string.Empty;
sTempAlignment = string.Empty;
sTempWidth = string.Empty;
sTempVisible = "false";
}
if (sTempVisible.ToLower().Equals("true"))
{
//assign display header text
gridCol.HeaderText = sTempHeader;
//add the column in the gridview
ObjList.Columns.Add(gridCol);
//cond: to check the specified alignment
if (sTempAlignment.ToUpper() == "L")
{
gridCol.ItemStyle.HorizontalAlign = HorizontalAlign.Left;
gridCol.HeaderStyle.HorizontalAlign = HorizontalAlign.Left;
}
else if (sTempAlignment.ToUpper() == "R")
{
gridCol.ItemStyle.HorizontalAlign = HorizontalAlign.Right;
gridCol.HeaderStyle.HorizontalAlign = HorizontalAlign.Right;
}
else if (sTempAlignment.ToUpper() == "C")
{
gridCol.ItemStyle.HorizontalAlign = HorizontalAlign.Center;
gridCol.HeaderStyle.HorizontalAlign = HorizontalAlign.Center;
}
if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(sTempWidth) == false)
{
gridCol.ControlStyle.Width = Unit.Pixel(int.Parse(sTempWidth));
gridCol.HeaderStyle.Width = int.Parse(sTempWidth);
gridCol.HeaderStyle.Wrap = false;
gridCol.ItemStyle.Wrap = false;
gridCol.ItemStyle.Width = Unit.Pixel(int.Parse(sTempWidth));
//set column width
double dTempColWidth = 120; //default value
double.TryParse(sTempWidth, out dTempColWidth);
//change width of grid view according to column sizes
ObjList.Width = new Unit((ObjList.Width.Value + dTempColWidth), UnitType.Pixel);
}
}
gridCol.ItemStyle.Wrap = false;
}
}
}
}
catch (Exception ex)
{
throw new Exception(ex.Message);
}
}
And when rows are bounded with GridView few events and css are also applied at runtime in DataRowBound Event of GridView as mentioned below:
protected void ObjList_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)
{
try
{
int iDataRowsCounter = 0;
if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow)
{
//get datatable from
DataTable dtList = (DataTable)Session["ListTable" + ViewState["ViewerId"]];
//get position of the respective row
string strPostion = dtList.Rows[e.Row.RowIndex]["Position"].ToString();
string strLinkNum = dtList.Rows[e.Row.RowIndex]["LinkNumber"].ToString();
//get row check box
CheckBox cbRow = ((CheckBox)e.Row.FindControl("chkRow"));
string pnum = dtList.Rows[e.Row.RowIndex]["PartNumber"].ToString();
if (a_PartNumber != null && pnum == a_PartNumber)
{
HighlightPic.Value = HighlightPic.Value + "||" + e.Row.RowIndex.ToString();
e.Row.Style.Add(HtmlTextWriterStyle.BackgroundColor, "#3D98FF");
e.Row.Style.Add(HtmlTextWriterStyle.Color, "#FFFFFF");
}
//mouse hover effects on gridview (CSS)
e.Row.Attributes.Add("onmouseover", "this.className='ObjListHighlight'");
e.Row.Attributes.Add("onmouseout", "this.className='ObjListNormal'");
//keep position of the row in case needed in javascript
e.Row.Attributes.Add("RowPosition", strPostion);
//on row checkbox check change of a single row
cbRow.Attributes.Add("onclick", "OnRowCheckChange(this, 'ObjList')");
//on full row click highlight picture
e.Row.Attributes.Add("onclick", "HighlightPicture('" + strPostion + "'," + e.Row.RowIndex + ", false)");
//on row double click
e.Row.Attributes.Add("ondblclick", "OnRowDblClick(" + e.Row.RowIndex + ",'ObjList')");
}
else if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.Header)
{
//find header checkbox control
CheckBox cbHeader = ((CheckBox)e.Row.FindControl("chkAll"));
e.Row.Attributes.Add("class", "item_HeaderRow");
e.Row.Cells[0].Attributes.Add("class", "item_HeaderCell");
//add header change event on checkbox click
cbHeader.Attributes.Add("onclick", "OnHeaderCheckChange(this,'ObjList')");
}
}
catch
{
throw new Exception(ex.Message);
}
}
Its presentation is something like below:
Respective css is as below:
.ObjList
{
height: auto;
}
.ObjListHighlight
{
background-color: #CAE4FF;
cursor: pointer;
}
.ObjListNormal
{
background-color: White;
cursor: pointer;
}
.ObjList tr.row
{
cursor: pointer;
color: #1B3A7A;
background-color: #FFFFFF;
}
.ObjList tr.row:hover
{
background-color: #CAE4FF;
}
.ObjList tr.row_selected
{
cursor: default;
color: #FFFFFF;
background-color: #3D98FF;
}
What I wanted to do is to fix the header row of that gridview. Solution can be in javascript or jQuery. Suggestions are appreciated.
Try this,
ASPX page:
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.9.0/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.9.1/jquery-ui.min.js"></script>
<script src="gridviewScroll.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function () {
gridviewScroll();
});
function gridviewScroll() {
gridView1 = $('#gridtest').gridviewScroll({
width: 600,
height: 300,
railcolor: "#F0F0F0",
barcolor: "#CDCDCD",
barhovercolor: "#606060",
bgcolor: "#F0F0F0",
freezesize: 1,
arrowsize: 30,
headerrowcount: 1,
railsize: 16,
barsize: 8
});
}
</script>
<div style="width: 100%; height: 400px; overflow: scroll">
<asp:GridView ID="gridtest" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="false">
<Columns>
<asp:BoundField DataField="UserID" HeaderText="ID" SortExpression="UserID" ReadOnly="true" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="FirstName" HeaderText="First Name" SortExpression="FirstName" />
</Columns>
</asp:GridView>
</div>
CS page:
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
gridtest.DataSource = getUserDetails();
gridtest.DataBind();
}
public class details
{
public int UserID { get; set; }
public string FirstName {get;set;}
}
public List<details> getUserDetails()
{
List<details> gt = new List<details>();
for (int i = 1; i < 40; i++)
{
details objDetails = new details();
objDetails.UserID = i;
objDetails.FirstName = "test" + i;
gt.Add(objDetails);
}
return gt;
}
For reference use this : http://gridviewscroll.aspcity.idv.tw/
Your best bet would be to create two GridViews. One purely for the header. Second, for the body wrapped in a scrollable div just below the first one. Position the second gridview with a negative top margin to hide its header. This way you will use the header of the first girdview and scroll the second one.
Alternatively, you can use a plugin like this one: http://www.fixedheadertable.com
This plugin also uses the same logic as I described above.
